  1. FEAR ME! Yes! I quit benzoyl peroxide cold turkey.. One day I just .. STOPPED. OK. Well, I am at 1 month. I thought my acne was bad while on the REGIMEN. HOLY COW. This last month has been awful. I've broke out on my forehead and on my chin; places I've NEVER EVER got acne before. Not on my nose, however...strange. Not to exclude my cheeks and the sides of my face. During this last month I've had to prepare myself for college which means being out in public and showing them my ugly mu

    My Acne Past

Sooo...today is the day that I decide to create a blog of my acne experience. I'm doing this to tell other people what will or won't help me over the next months (6-12 months), and to help me keep track of my progress. Another reason was because I couldn't find answers to many questions through a plethora of google searches (such as when your face gets through the purging stages of stopping benzoyl peroxide cold turkey). Let me start off with my acne story... The earliest I can remember h
  3. Hi! I was just recently prescribed Accutane and I am about to start my first course of 60/mg day tomorrow. I have been using the regimen EVERY SINGLE DAY (BP followed by AHA+ mixed w/ moisturizer) for about 2 years now, and I'm terrified of what is going to happen to my face if I stop cold turkey. I was thinking of gradually decreasing the amount of BP I use from two pumps down to one until I feel the Accutane is making my skin too dry to use any more. My face has always been extremely oily and
  4. What was once my best friend is now my enemy. In the beginning, benzoyl peroxide helped me prevent acne and get rid of the current acne that I had. Eventually, it caused my skin to become dry and oily at the same time. It happened so gradually that I didn't realize that benzoyl peroxide was ruining my skin. I started using benzoyl peroxide religiously my sophomore year. There were a few times when I would use it on and off, but altogether, I used benzoyl peroxide for 3 years. At first my ski
  5. hello everyone, I normally am just the type to google my skin concerns and scroll thru millions of articles each night hoping I can find a miracle cure or something. I am a 17 year old girl, just short of 18, and I devolped acne when I was in eighth grade. acne hit my like a bus, when I was in eighth grade I would get millions of tiny whiteheads and small come done bumps on my forehead and nowhere else. I was put on loryna birth control, and a type of differin or adapelene gel. I don't really re
  6. Hi everyone. Feel free to not read the huge block of text, it's just some background info on my acne that might help. I've suffered from what I would call "persistent acne" since I was 13, so 5 years. It was never severe, mostly just mild-moderate, but it was persistent through every treatment I've used. No face wash or lotion could cure it, and 2 rounds of accutane (I know, accutane for mild acne sounds nuts, but I was a young teenager with low self esteem and the dermatoligest really made
  7. Hi! I can’t tell you what an emotional relief it’s been to find that this community exists online. I'm definitely a stress picker and it's taken me a long time to realize it's a real thing -- I’ve been trying to stop picking and squeezing for about 8 years, with periodic success and many relapses. I hardly ever use sterile tools and I know it’s been so bad for my skin and such a stressor in my life; I often wear makeup to bed so I don’t have to reveal the level of my scars to my boyfriend…It’s b
