  1. Hi everyone. I was prescribed Clindamycin and Differin Gel by my doc for mild acne. I have very mild acne with the occassional hormonal monster pimple. I do not have much acne scars. I have about 2 or 3 very shallow pock marks and 1 ice pick scar on my cheek. But can someone with knowledge regarding this please tell me if: 1. Is it safe to exfoliate with a salicylic acid toner while on these two? 2. If yes, where does this go in my regimen? (Day or night, before or after putting on the cli

  3. Hey guys. So I made this account because after two years of struggling with prescription acne meds, nothing has significantly improved. I currently use a Clyndamycin lotion and a .1% Retin-A cream, at day and night respectively. I also use Aczone cream for spot treating, and use a Neutrogena Acne Wash Redness Soothing day and night. However, i still get frequent whiteheads and i have lots of red spots from previous pimples that have not disappeared, especially in the cheek region below the eyes.

    My Acne Story/journey/results

Ok, so. I have been dealing with acne ever since I was in the 8th grade. I am now a senior in high school. During my sophomore year i had a terrible reaction to a facial system I had bought at Sephora, and thats where the serious acne began. It was during that year I was prescribed all the serious medications to cure me. I was on doxycycline, and Retin a micro .04%. Doxycycline was AWFUL for me, it made me very ill and I would often throw up in the middle of school. Needless to say, my mother s
  5. Hey everyone! I've been tracking my skin for more than a year now, and I finally have the skin I've been dreaming of (REGULAR NORMAL SKIN haha). I thought I'd post my progress and gallery here, hoping it might help anyone who was on the same journey or has had similar side effects. Things I went through, got rid of, or kept forever: Yasmin Differin 0.3% Retin-A 0.025 Doxycycline 100 mg Sronyx 1% Clindamycin 5% Benzol Peroxide Acanya First Aid Ultra repair Cream
  6. So, this post is in regards to my new acne regimen that my derm prescribed me to. While at the derm's office I felt pretty confident with what he was prescribing me, but now after reading some online reviews and the warning pamphlets that came with the drugs I'm rather scared. This is the regimen prescribed to me: A.M Take 2 capsules of Minocycline Wash face with mild soap Use Clindamycin pledget with an exfoliating lotion P.M Wash face with mild soap Apply Pea-sized amount of Retin-A Mi
  7. The Situation: I have been battling acne now for over a year. I have seen my dermatologist, been given Retin-A, Clindamycin, BP, Doxycycline, a decent moisturizer and cleanser, yet I still battle acne and extreme redness/dryness. I have extremely sensitive skin, and I spend a lot of time outdoors/in the sun, so my acne situation is very difficult. Anyways, after a year of on and off success and failure, I have decided to create a new regimen given all of the resources I have now. Required
  8. Hey everybody, I've been on Clindamycin Phosphate 1%, Minocycline 80mg 1x Day, and BP Fash Wash 5% for a week now (all in the morning). So far, the only things I've noticed is that my face is much more red, and I've had an initial breakout. My chin and jawline just has multiple whiteheads compared to the 1 or two it had prior to the medication, and my forehead is still with small, bumpy pink acne spots. Is it common to experience an initial breakout with these products? PS: I take V
  9. Hey guys My regimen (listed below) has gotten me clear for the most part (I can handle the odd white head from stress/late-night rehearsal/alcohol) but my skin texture without makeup is really awful on my chin - where my acne has been concentrated for the most part. I only use Differin every other night or so, but I feel like it has done nothing to improve my red marks and I feel like it's turned into teeny-tiny rolling scars. It's really only evident when I smile, but my chin feels bumpy, r

    Wish Me Luck

Okay, so this is my first post on here. I've had issues with acne since I was around 12 or so. I used to develop these really big painful ones all over my nose. I ended up being prescribed birth control for that by my doctor when I was 14 or so. That really seemed to calm them down a lot. I never was completely clear as I always got a couple every once in a while, but I was happy. It was good enough for me at that point. Time went on and I ended up quitting the pill last year in June 2013 wh
  11. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  12. Hi Guys I have been suffering with moderate acne and tried to control it via benzoyl peroxide and over the counter spot treatments When i started University, it got worse and i registered with my University GP and was prescribed Lymecycline and topical Clindamycin (Dalacin) and after a month, it worked like a miracle with all spots gone and my skin felt amazing. However when my university finished and i moved back to my home, i had to re register with my previous GP and when i trie
  13. Hi everyone, I recently came across acne.org now that I am really struggling with my acne. I'll give some background information before I start. My acne really erupted and became terrible 2 years ago when I was 18-19 yrs old. It came to the point where nothing was helping and I had given up. Eventually on its own my skin had started to heal, although i was left with tremendous scarring all over my face. After some time my breakouts lessened and weren't as bad as they used to be. I was using
  14. Hi, I have suffered from moderate to severe acne since I was 13 and now I'm 21. I've tried different over the counter products such as products from the Proactiv, Neutrogena, Clean and Clear and Clearasil line. In the last four years, I have been acne free (I tried once to stop using my medication and I immediatly got acne again) and I wanted to share my routine with everyone. Gender: female Age: 21 ethnicity: south asian acne type: moderate to severe; on both cheeks, chin, jaw, upper lip and f
  15. I have been using duac (5% benzoyl peroxide and 1.2% clindamycin) for 2 months already. My acne decreased but there are still a lot of pimples and I really cannot see significant changes. I am thinking to follow dan's regimen so I plan to switch to benzac which active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide as well (but no clindamycin). Do you guys think that I will experience another purging or breakout once I switch even though they are both benzoyl peroxide. I don't want another purging.
  16. I recently got prescribed 0.025% Retin-A cream along with 1% Clindamycin foam for mornings. I used the Retin-A once so far- 2 nights ago- and the Clindamycin both this morning and last morning. My derm said to use the Retin-A once a day (at night), and if it was too drying to switch to every other day. My mom and these boards have told me to start with every other day or even less frequently than that. What should I do? Should I just start using it every day and see how it goes, or should I take
  17. Does Clindamycin Phosphate Gel help fade red acne marks/inflammatory acne, or is it used for other types of acne? I use Tazorac at nighttime and it works really well to reduce redness overnight, but as SOON as I wash my face and apply Clindamycin, it ruins everything. I will say it DOES work for clearing up whiteheads on my forehead (my forehead is almost 100% clear im so happy ) ...but for my cheeks it just makes it this awful blood-red color, plus this horrendous itching that won't go aw

    Beginning Of Week 2

Well, obviously week 1 has been hell. My face is freaking out on the BP. I am only using it as a spot treatment, but my skin is SO sensitive anyway that in the places that I have been spot treating it has been either breaking out more or is SO exremely red that I have to wear makeup during the day so it doesn't look like I got punched in the face. I'm hoping that at least by the third week my acne will be subsiding and so will this redness, I can't take it much longer. I'm very impatient and I a
  19. Summer is coming and the situation is not fine, so I decided to change my regimen for the last time. If the situation doesn't change, I will stop to use all these stupid creams. My new regimen: Every day (twice a day) I will use a Cleanser with 1% of Benzoyl Peroxide Every Morning I will apply a moisturizer (Sebium Hydra) For the nights: twice a week I will apply clindamycin 1% gel three times a week I will apply tretinoin 0.05% twice a week I will apply Sebium Global (a cream with

    Initial Breakout On Oracea?

Hello all. I have been struggling with acne since I was in 8th grade. It just isn't fair how some people have perfect skin and they don't do anything. I have been on practically everything. Usually I am in a cycle and it ranges from clear, beautiful skin to breaking out a lot. Since For as long as I can remember, I have been on Oracea in the morning paired with Duac(Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin) and at night I take Ortho-Cyclen and Retin-a .04%. I use Cetaphil Moisturizer and Cleanser, and

  22. Hi everyone! I just made a profile and decided to start a blog about my acne. I think it'll be a good way to reflect on what I'm going through and track my progress. I haven't decided yet if I'll put pictures up of my skin, maybe in a few weeks when (hopefully) I've improved a little bit. I'll start with a description of me and my skin, but I'll put it in the blog description as well for any newcomers once the blog has gotten longer. I'm 20 years old, female. I go to school at a small colle

    Am I allergic ??

Since I've been on this regimen I've had a rash on my wrist which I think came from sleeping on my arms and it hasn't gone away (started 7 weeks ago) I am constantly itchy and my neck is still breaking out itchy even though I don't apply any medicines to that area.. Debating if I should stop using...

    Forget about prescriptions

Just went to a doctor and he says it looks like I'm suffering from an allergic reaction due to either retin-a or clindamycin. He reccomended I stop using both medications. Benadryl and prednisone for a few days in order to control the itching on my neck and wrists! I found out in deficient in vitamin D and many have said these supplements greatly helped their acne so here I go! Just purchased vitamin d3 with calcium. Working on changing my diet as well
