  1. Disclaimer - This may not work for everyone, but I have been suffering from hormonal acne for about 20 years now and have FINALLY managed to clear my skin, so I wanted to share with people what has worked for me in the hopes that it might help someone out there struggling with the same problem. The following is a detailed description of my multi-structured approach. Feel free to chime in if you have questions. Also note that there is nothing here that is super expensive. All the things I do
  2. From the album: BEFORE PROACTIVE

Hey! I've struggled with acne since about 6th grade. I'm currently a high schooler and i know firsthand acne is super tough to handle, especially as of right now in my life. i've truly tried everything, you name it. from black soap to 3 clique system treatment, I've honestly become hopeless. so why not try proactive? i tried beforehand back in my middle school days before i truly understood how to treat my skin. although, back then it didn't have much of an effect on my skin. i have decided ma
  3. hello I need help very bad ive been trying to find this out for years and I always looked for someone to ask this question so I can see the answer but nobody has ever asked. I got prescribed retin a and hydroquinone 4 percent and I used retin a for a year I am acne free but I have so much hyperpigmation and acne scars it looks like I still have acne. I never used the hydroquinone when it was prescribed because I never knew how I though that if applied to normal skin it will lighten as well so it
  4. I have moderate acne, where my face just as a couple of white heads, and the rest are just red dots. I use honey as a face wash, and drink a lot of water and green tea. No caffeine for me. I take vitamin e and fish oil, but lately it hasn't gotten where i want my face to be. I used to wear bare minerals face makeup, then stopped for a year (still had clear skin). Im thinking i should start back up, because my face is bad, and minerals are good for your face. Any thoughts???
  5. Shaving and acne I personally think that this is a very important topic; an anonymous user posted the question on the last post about shaving. Here is my take on it, Happy New year to everyone as well! To start, i'm only 15, which means I don't have a massive experience with shaving in my life, but I have had experience with shaving with severe acne. I have noticed that the less severe my acne has been, the better experience I have had with shaving; less bleeding, less after-math of inflammati
  6. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion

    Day 78

Hey! sorry i haven't updated in a loong time but that's because there haven't really been any changes at all in my skin, until recently ive had a small break out of pimples not like the cystic acne but i think thats mainly cause my exams have started and im stressing so badly, haha. ive recently had extreme dry skin on my face, like it peels off my forehead, nose and chin and its so disgusting if i dont moisturize and exfoliate! (i know ive not to exfoliate but seriously i cant help it!) wha
  8. My skin used to be sore, inflamed and embarrassing- due to adult acne... The pain of it meant that even if I wasn't looking in a mirror i couldn't even forget i had acne because I could FEEL THE PAIN OF IT; especially in my cheeks. My partners brother works in skincare and he recommended a product line called 'The ordinary' They are a product line that are ACTIVE ingredients- you know how skin care lines have 'active ingredients' in them- and those active ingredients make up probably
  9. Hi everyone! I just have a question I'd like to post to everyone about acne... If you were given a proven system to clear your skin without topical treatment, what would be your most preferred method of learning how to do it? Method 1 - Online Program (e-Learning platform describing everything about clearing your skin - do it yourself at your own pace) Method 2 - 1 on 1 Coaching (Customized system to meet your needs working 1 on 1)
  10. Disclaimer - This may not work for everyone, but I have been suffering from hormonal acne for about 20 years now and have FINALLY managed to clear my skin, so I wanted to share with people what has worked for me in the hopes that it might help someone out there struggling with the same problem. Also important to note this is not an ad or a link to some product. This is knowledge that I pieced together over the course of 20 years of suffering from adult hormonal acne. And I tried EVERYTHING
  11. Hello all! I’m brand new to this site but I’ve read different forums on here for years. This upcoming Wednesday I’ll be meeting back with my dermatologist to discuss Accutane and hopefully get prescribed it. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this however I’ve done everything I can up until this point. Though Accutane is sometimes frowned upon I’m excited to start this journey and hopefully never really have to deal with acne again after this. Let me give you a quick backstory before I hopefully
  12. Okay, so ive had acne since i hit puberty but it wasnt bad at all and it wasnt noticeable until about 8 months ago. I went to the doctor right away and was prescribed everything within the months leading up until now. I used all my topicals religiously and washed my face every morning and night, i tried to change my diet, I literally tried everything. So i went to the derm to get prescribed accutane since it seemed to me like it was a cure. My insurance wouldnt cover accutane without me being on
  13. Hi everyone! I'm not recommending any medicine or creams but I can share my experience in hopes that it might help. If you are tired of looking in the mirror and hating the reflection that stares back at you, if you cringe at the thought of people seeing you without makeup on, if you often feel judged because of the condition of your skin as though it’s your fault, if you feel ashamed at the way that you look, if you feel helpless because you don't know what to do or where to turn, I know exactl
  14. Well here I am at month 4...and unfortunately have not seen any improvement. My dermatologist was hesitant to up my dosage just because of the bloody noses I continue to have, so if anything, I may be kept on a longer course of treatment. Has this happened with anyone else? Feeling discouraged but I am definitely committed and hoping for a clear face soon! Happy healing #accutane
  15. From the album: Emily

Before starting the regimen, I used to suffer from horrible cystic acne and scarring. I had a bad breakout when I was 15 that eventually cleared up, and then I had another lousy breakout when I was 18. I was extremely self-conscious about my acne, and I tried numerous remedies to help make it go away. When I had my last breakout in the first year of college (as pictured above), I didn't even want to go to class. I booked an appointment at my local skin doctor's office, and they helped me clear m
  16. I love cheese. Cheese is my life. After reading several topics on avoiding dairy products for clear skin, I begin to think. I dont eat that much dairy, let alone drink. I have not had milk in forever, only almond or coconut milk. And usually for a snack I have a mozzarella string cheese stick (protein) and an apple. Should I stop snacking on cheese sticks, and what are good snacks to help stop the irritation of acne? I am currently trying to increase my calorie intake due to the fact that I work
  17. Hi, Sharing something that probably less people know and heard about. We always aim for better Diet to fight Acne but do we know that, does our blood type support this diet? Yes, we do not know. We always read and follow, most of the time without acquiring deep knowledge and We just run towards results and that's why we never achieve the results we Aim for, because we Aim aimlessly! makes sense? So, here's a thing about a thing! Acne is a disease caused by internal & external fac

Hey guys here's an update! I've been on Solodyn, Aczone and tazorac for about 4 months now... (March 27) honestly it was the worst/best experince I've ever had... Through out the whole process I had awful break outs. Like my acne wasn't even that bad to begin with but when the medicines started to make me purge it was awful! But now I hardly even get a pimple. Crazy!!! My skin still has a few little hyper pigmentation spots but should be gone within the next few days bc I was prescribed hydroqui
  19. About me: I had horrible hormonal acne around my chin and up my cheeks- was a mixture of deep, blind, cystic pimples and these tiny little "clogged pore" colourless clusters of pimples everywhere. I didn't want to leave the house for months because my skin was so bad and being a model and actress I wasn't able to control the makeup products being put on my skin and it was crucial to my job to have nice skin! Disaster. Anyway, I created my own routine based around skin care and health on my que
  20. I live in New Zealand and I recently went to the Gold Coast for a holiday, and my skin cleared up heaps! I normally eat really healthy but since I was on holiday I thought I'd give myself a break so I was eating things like ice cream and pizza and Toblerones and my skin still got heaps better, but now that I'm back it's getting worse again, even though I am eating healthy and keeping really hydrated and exercising. I don't know why it is getting worse again so I was wondering if anyone could tel
