  1. Hey everyone, So I have mildly moderate acne and I started The Regimen about a month ago. It was going so well for the first couple of weeks, but I'm now starting to break out again. Is this to be expected? Also, my biggest problem with The Regimen is removing makeup. There is no way that my makeup will come off if I cleanse lightly for only 10 seconds, as suggested in the directions. Is it okay to apply more pressure and/or wash my face for a longer period of time? This is what I have been
  2. Hi guys, What are your thoughts about this idea. Many people say that by regualrly massaging with certain oils and washing face with manuka honey in the morning. They have finally managed their acne. Both of these are processes which affect acne to a superficial level. unlike diet. So do they work even without a diet change (ofcourse that would be a plus). If yes, can we conclude that acne can be controlled by what you put on your face alone as well?
  3. By time I mean like during the weekdays I wake up at 7 a.m. and then do my regimen. So I was wondering if I should wash like every 12 hours so I would wash at 7 p.m. on weekdays. I just thought of doing this since my skin now tends to be a little sensitive in the morning but not at night. Usually I cleanse at 7 a.m. then at 10 p.m. Would this make any difference? Also I bought some witch hazel today for combating irritation, it's 100% natural. http://www.dickinsonsusa.com/products/toners
  4. Ive heard some very good things about oil cleansing, and some very bad things. Some people seem to say that after a while,(few weeks, months) they get clogged pores/breakouts/dry skin I was wondering if it's because oil cleansing is more like exfoliating,(removing deep oils in skin/massaging dead skin), and exfoliating often or everyday will dehydrate your skin. or do oils, specifically olive oil, clog pores?

    My Daily Facial Care Routine

okay so ive been getting a lot of questions from people asking what i use exactly and when so here it is My regimen is: Wash face with a mild clinique soap Pat dry with clean towel Clean off dirt and whatnot with neutrogena daily cleansing wipes Pat dry Apply clyndamycin on my face, (I have the alcohol based one though, I heard it works better than the cream/gel) Wait for my skin to absorb it Use the neutrogena rapid something 3-1 moituriser As I go through my day I use the clyndamyc
  6. My Story: My adult-onset acne began in early 2010. I still don't know what triggered it but for the next 3 years, I suffered ugly red zits... mostly on my forehead. Sometimes on my nose. It effected my self-confidence and made me feel frustrated and depressed. I had long suspected a dietary cause. But 2 seperate dermatologists told me unequivocally, "there is no proof of a connection between diet and acne". They then prescribed antibiotics and harsh topical creams. As a result, I suffered w
  7. From the album: My "Personal" Acne System

i use this after washing my face with the clinique bar soap. i gently stroke my face for about 20 seconds or until i feel that i got my whole face. i use this about 2-3 times during the day. depending on what im doing. this costs about $6-$8
  8. Hi! I came across an article http://www.shape.com/lifestyle/beauty-style/7-bad-beauty-habits-you-need-break?page=2 Washing Your Face In The Morning Using harsh cleansers and scrubs in the a.m. can do more harm than good, stripping your skin of essential oils before you even start your day, Dr. Lamba says. “A good skincare regimen means cleansing your face only at night because while you sleep, your skin regenerates, reestablishes its pH, and increases collagen production,” she adds. S
  9. Hi guys I have moderate acne at the moment, and am just wondering what is the best way to wash ones face, i've heard about a million different things lol. Some say: hot, then cold water, just cold, just hot, etc etc. Basically, If i was to just use water to wash my face, twice a day, what would be the best method for my skin? Thanks in advance peeps! =D
  10. So I've been washing my face with just water twice a day for about 3 weeks. I usually get mild-moderate acne. It's been fine until recently and had noticed pretty decent improvements, although my acne had not entirely stopped. However recently my skin has become very dry and tight and I am noticing a lot of flakiness, mainly after i've washed my face with water. Is this what people on these kinds of routines call the 'dead skin mask'? Also I'm not washing with hot or cold water, it's kind of luk

    Oil Cleansing Method

At the risk of sounding like a nutter who jumps from one crazy scheme to the next I was looking into the oil cleansing method. Firstly I AM NOT suggesting or encouraging anyone to do this I would just like to discuss the possibilities. I would never persuade anyone into doing any regime as so many of these treatments seem to make the problem worse. from all the reviews it seems it either works a miracle, unblocking pores, blackheads like nothing else or totally wrecks people's face. It works
  12. Last Tuesday [23 May 2012] my acne was pretty bad, not the worst it gets but bad, so i decided to give something topical a chance for once. I have been "washing" my face with oil for the last week ie: "Oil Cleansing" etc. In the mornings and through out day i am just washing face with water but after shower/bath i am gently rubbing extra virgin olive oil into my face [LMAO], then putting a hot flannel on my face, then gently rubbing excess oil off. Observations so far. [+ consideratio

    Initial Breakouts From Cleansing

A quick question about initial breakouts when cleansing the body. For the past two or so weeks, I have been trying to improve my diet and cleanse out any toxins with the incorporation of veggie smoothies and drinking a lot of water and exercise, and I have also been taking cod liver oil supplements and multivitamins for about a week now. I chose these because they give me a good chunk of vitamin A, D and omega 3. Unfortunately, I am seeing no change in the enormous amount of acne I have, especia

    A Holistic Life Style Change

After going through a bad break out about 2 weeks ago, I felt quite hopeless as I felt I had tried many things...... I have never approached this holistically, I remember I completely dismiss it about a year ago when I first got serious about doing something about my acne, basically because medically I was told there is 'no real connection between diet and acne'...and hey!...I have always eaten "healthy".... well I have been reading a whole lot about the holistic approach, and now I believe
  15. So I have combination skin, and mild acne. I wash my face twice a day with gentle hand soap. I moisturize (using a small bottle of Neutrogena's Sensitive Skin Moisturizer with Sunscreen that I had already, but it's running out) about once a day, and at night use a light lotion on my face (in the winter only). My first question is; if I wash twice a day, but moisturize/lotion as well, will that dry out my face/produce too much oil? My second question is; what are some good homemade moisturize
  16. Hi all. Im 23 years old and for the first time in my life i am battling really bad acne. I have never had it before, only this year when I decided to go off my BCP for cholesterol issues. I have these tiny little forehead pimples which contain hard waxy sebum. I do the oil cleansing method with grapeseed oil to help break this down but it hasnt reduced. I added ground cinnamon to make a gentle scrub - my skin felt nice for a day but went back to its original state. I wash my hair every 2-3 day
  17. Hey all I've been lurking here for ages picking up various tips and ideas on how to manage my severe adult acne. But I think I need more help, so I thought I'd post my situation and see if anyone can give me some more ideas. The background: I had moderate acne as a teenager, it mostly cleared up in my early 20s, then vanished when I took a high dose of doxycycline for 2 months as an antimalarial when I travelled in SE Asia. 18 months ago, I switched from the pill to implanon, and my acne
