  1. Does the pH of Your Cleanser Matter?

Every cleanser possesses a certain pH, which is the measure of its acidity or alkalinity. The pH of a cleanser may be an important quality that controls how it may affect acne. The pH Scale Scientists use the pH scale, which ranges from 0-14 to measure acidity or alkalinity. Water has a pH of 7, which is considered neutral. The more acidic a solution is, the lower is its pH level. Conversely, the more basic or...

    day 1 - 25 accutane

I have had acne since age 10! It is mainly hormonal and oily spots. I basically been on anti-biotic for 6 year trying to treat it but its persistent! My acne compared to some cases ive seen is mild. I have lots of little pimps on my forehead, cheeks, and breakout regularly in some puss spots but no cysts etc. However i thought i'd grow out of acne but 8 years on it's still persistent! I always denied accutane as i was young and didn't want to deal with the side effects like dry skin and mood swi
  3. The 2 month mark is here! 8 weeks! This is a crucial milestone, people. A crossroad of sorts. This is the time I told myself I'd evaluate my progress and decide if I should continue... Well? What do you guys think? Is it worth sticking it out another month? Another 2 months? Forever?!?

  6. Skin Condition The acne marks on my cheeks have gone back on track to improvement The discoloration on my lip is also looking improved this morning My chin looking better too. It used to be quite bumpy but this morning it looks really smooth and the any bumps have condensed to 4 tiny whiteheads The most irritation and acne is at the corners of my mouth I have some painful areas on my cheeks and around my mouth. 7. Hey guys, So I have been using Cetaphil's gentle cleanser to wash my face for about a year. However, it still dries my face a ton!!! I thought it was supposed to be one of the least drying products out there! If anybody has any experience with another cleanser that might be less drying please let me know. I can't even go swimming without my face looking totally dried and flaky. Please please please let me know if any of you guys are using a product that is less drying. It would help me immense
  8. I'm starting accutane in a month and i'm really at a loss for what cleanser and moisturizer i should use. I'm looking at products and reading reviews and it's all overwhelming!! i currently use cetaphil face cleanser and neutrogena sensitive skin face lotion. I think the cetaphil is decent, but i've heard about how SLS can irritate skin? so maybe i should switch. Also, i've used that neutrogena lotion forever and i don't particularly love it. My skin seems more red after i put in on.
  9. Since I was in middle school, probably in the fourth grade, I've had acne. Its not like huge bumps and pimples; its small black heads anf the occasionally whiteheads and those big stress bumps. Its all over my face expect my nose and mouth area. I'm not in the 11th grade and I have been using regular soap but they are not going away. I used proactiv for like 2-3 weeks. It workwd but after about 4 big bumps were on my chin. I don't know what to do. I don't want to take junior pictures with pimp
  10. Hi Everyone, I started the regimen a few months ago and it has worked wonders for my skin. I would like to re-order the cleanser and was wondering if anyone had a promo code that would work for Canada. I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance! -Leah
  11. Hey guys, I'm looking for a new facial cleanser and I was just wanted to know if anyone has some suggestions that would work on moderate cystic acne.
  12. Has anyone tried using pure vegetable glycerine bar soap for a face wash with good results? I recently came across some info that made it sound pretty good but I wanted to see if anyone else had tried it out? I find the simplicity of it very appealing after years of bottles and bars of multiple face washes...
  13. I'm 15 with acne thats I would describe as mild and close enough to moderate. I have it pretty much under control with: Day: Cleanse with acne.org cleanser Moisturise with acne.org moisturiser Night: Cleanse with acne.org cleanser use Duac once daily gel Moisturise with acne.org moisturiser I was using isotrexin, when my prescription ran out I stopped using it and I had a pretty bad breakout after a week. My doctor then prescribed me with duac once daily (5% BP, 1% clindamycin
  14. Recently, a family member bought me Clean and Clear Advantage Oil Absorbing Cream Cleanser and Clean and Clear Morning Burst Fruit Infusions Reviving Cleanser as a gift. I had a bad experience in the past with Clean and Clear, because I used it about a year ago, my skin always burned and I had marks/rashes on parts of my face. I imagine that it was an allergic reaction. So I was a bit apprehensive when my family member bought this for me. But I didn't want to be rude and not use it. I used it, a
  15. Hi guys! Just checking in. I haven't really been on here for a couple of days since I've been busy with work. I guess I just wanted to give a quick update on my skin and also since I have been on the regimen for a couple of months now...a quick "what I have learned" post. HERE'S WHAT I'VE LEARNED: 1. Everybodys skin is different. And the same product will react differently to different people not only because of their skin types but also because of their skin sensitivity, or where they live, o
  16. Ok so I am pretty much over the worst of my acne now I did have bad cystic acne but the cysts have hugely decreased in size and I am now starting to see signs of improvement in the red marks they left behind. I do still get the odd pimple though so I was wondering if someone could recommend a good NATURAL cleanser that will help to keep my skin clean without striping it of natural oils or drying it out, and I also want a moisturizer of some kind preferably in gel form or something that isn't
  17. I just wanted to share my positive experience when shipping these products to Canada. I am so impressed, I had purchased the 8 oz. AHA+ along with the 16 oz. Cleanser and had gotten it within 9 days!!! I am excited by this because I chose the 2-6 week option and was expecting on waiting at least a month to receive them. When first starting the regimen I picked the most expensive option, this resulted a wait of 4 days and a charge at the door as well. I will definitely be picking the 2-6 weeks fr
  18. Hello all, I'm new here. I joined because I wanted a forum where I could find out info and skincare for acne-prone, sensitive skin from real people who have the same issues as I do. At the moment I've decided to go all natural, or as natural as possible without breaking the bank, with my facial care. I've successfully switched over to using oils (jojoba and coconut) in place of moisturizers, and witch hazel and rose water as astringents/toners. [sadly I'm still forced to use bp as a spo
  19. I have been washing my face twice a day. However, I'm starting to think it may be too drying. I have sensitive dry skin with a somewhat oily nose (or maybe it's just the way the light reflects off it) and I often have flaking skin on my nose and chin. Does anyone have any experience with only washing their face at night? Thanks.
  20. Hey everybody I recently found out that oatmeal significantly clears up my skin. However, anybody else who has used oatmeal before will know that it is very messy. It clogs the sink, sometimes a piece of it gets left in my hair and later on somebody embarrassingly points it out It is also quite impractical for everyday use as sometimes i just cant be bothered to use it at 7am before school when im half awake. I need an alternative to oatmeal, anything natural really as i have SENSITIVE SK
  21. Hi, I have a combination skin type as I have an oily T-zone and dry cheeks. I am suffering from some acne on my T-zone mainly and sometimes they seem like blackheads, some are whitehead and some are just bumps and these bumps don't look like blackheads or whiteheads or inflammatory ones. I used Simple kind to skin moisturiser and Nivea soft cream as I have really dry cheeks and both of the products moisturises my dry cheeks well but makes my T-zone look really oily. I have tried Bodyshop's s
  22. I just broke out badly after switching from Clean and Clear continuous control acne cleanser (10% BP cream) to Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. Two days ago I had 1 pimple on my chin and now i have 5, my forehead has also broken out badly(to many pimples to count!) Should I switch back to my old cleanser or just wait and see if this clears up? My old regimen Clean and Clear continuous control acne cleanser (10% BP cream) twice a day. Epiduo gel (2.5% BP and .1% adapalene) once at night after
  23. Hey guys, I just joined this forum so firstly, hello! Up until a few months ago I've suffered with red raw acne on my cheeks and jawline. I'm no longer a teenager (by a long shot!) so did some research and yes, I'm pretty sure I was a sufferer of adult acne. Luckily I have a wonderful friend in the states who recommended Paula's Choice to me, as she's been using their products for a long while to treat blackheads and the occasional breakout. At first I was a bit cynical about it all
  24. The Situation: I have been battling acne now for over a year. I have seen my dermatologist, been given Retin-A, Clindamycin, BP, Doxycycline, a decent moisturizer and cleanser, yet I still battle acne and extreme redness/dryness. I have extremely sensitive skin, and I spend a lot of time outdoors/in the sun, so my acne situation is very difficult. Anyways, after a year of on and off success and failure, I have decided to create a new regimen given all of the resources I have now. Required
