  1. Hey there! I'm a 20 year old female and i'm going to take you along through all the suffering I'm about to endure on Accutane. I'm taking 40 mg of Clarus 3x a week. Here we go Month 1 Week 1-2 - By the first two weeks of starting my treatment I had already experienced some side effects. Week 1 was full of headaches and mild back pain, I also had a nose bleed. Then when week 2 came around I got really sick and ended up developing Bronchitis. It may have been a coincidence but I didn't
  2. Hey everyone! After trying literally everything there is to get rid of acne, I went to my family doctor who referred me to a dermatologist. He asked me about when my acne started and what I had used/currently am using etc etc. He then took a good look at my skin and said we should try accutane - and my parents and I agreed. I got my blood work done and everything was okay. Instead of taking the classical pregnancy test, I just had to give a urine sample the day I got my blood drawn. And they
  3. Hi everyone, So over the past few days I got probably 5 to 10 new zits that were on my cheeks. They were all pretty small, but I was worried that my IB was starting. But when I looked in the mirror this afternoon, my face was not nearly as bad as I thought it was. So, I think that some of the zits that I got just went away because they were so small. Still, not really experiencing any intense dryness. I obviously do have some dryness but it's not bad enough for me to be using mois
  4. Last night I did not put any moisturizer on before going to bed. I wanted to see if that would stop the oily skin. I don't know why I didn't think of it before! When I woke up this morning my skin was great! It was not oily. That has never happened to me before! Amazing. I also noticed that I have a very little bit of flaking skin on my chin, not sure if I should put on moisturizer or not. Also noticing my skin is very bumpy. I don't really know how to explain it other than there are bumps all
  5. Hey all, Typical acne story: I've had some form of it since I was 12-13ish and I won't say I've tried everything, but I've tried most over-the-counter drugs, topicals, natural remedies, etc. The last few things I've tried are Differin, herbal medicine, and vitamin e oil. For the past few weeks, I haven't been putting anything on my face other than a little bit of makeup (which is amazing and terrifing for me - I used to wear a thick layer daily) and washing with CeraVe cleanser. I have m
  6. So, I have a faulty memory. Acne blurs into one never-ending constant, I've had it for 15 years, more than half my life. I don't imagine my face being clear like a normal person. To me, a good day is having no 3D cysts and no normal pimples (i.e. the ones you can control topically with BP). Acne is so much me that if forget what it looks like to others. I had a random woman look at me recently, and say "hey, you need to get that checked out, your face" (er, she used worse English due to being an
  7. Note: So...I wish to have interactions with you. Ideally, lovely internet ones. I also started a blog about this, but obviously the forums are where it's at. Hence the repeating myself (I've paraphrased the blogs below). INTRO TO MYSELF AND MY SKIN Myth: I used to think I'd grow out of acne. It started at age 11, got cystic once I hit my twenties. So I did my first round ( I wish I'd kept better track of now that I'm doing another round, seriously, everyone who lacks motivation should ke
  8. Today is my first day on Accutane (well actually is a generic version called Clarus). Obviously I don't have any symptoms yet. My dermatologist has me on 40mg a day for the first month then for the rest of the course I will alternate daily between 40mg and 80mg. I am excited but very nervous about the possible side effects. I wanted to also note that I joined Acne.org in 2005! I don't think I've been active for 6 years! I was controlling my acne with the regimen but this past summer it just wou
  9. Not much new to report today. Skin is looking pretty good. The zits I had a few days ago when I started have flattened out, and it actually seems like the hyper-pigmentation I had when I started has faded significantly. So it has definitely been a successful first few days. My skin is still not really experiencing dryness, more of the same tightness after washing my face. This is pretty manageable as it goes away soon after my face dries. As for my lips, I continue to apply a lot of l
  10. I thought i'd start a log to show my progress and or... yea lets just hope that's the only thing that shows. I got prescribed 40mg Clarus(accutane) for my acne about 22days ago, I haven't started a log yet so I might as well get all of the past days out of the way in this one post. I actually never had any acne in my high school days, I had completely clear skin always assumed I was super lucky. But, in my late 19's I started to get some acne when I started shaving I initially thought it was
  11. *This won't be a daily update since my schedule is ridiculously crazy right now. I'll be updating periodically when there are any crazy improvements, side effects (hope not!), or changes to my treatment. I'm taking the Canadian generic brand of isotretinoin called Clarus. I take my medication with my breakfast, because breakfast is the biggest meal of my day. I'm taking 50 mg/day (0.8 mg/kg/day) - one 40 mg capsule and one 10 mg capsule. The dermatologist suggested that I take 40 mg with bre
  12. I wasn't sure where to put this post. I started taking accutane a month and a bit ago and I am absolutely in love with the results! I practice kendo, a sport where you have to wear a helmet (that has interior padding that rests on your chin and forehead). I don't know if it is a good idea to be wearing it while on accutane. Does anyone else have an insight?
  13. Hello! This log describes my experience using isotretinoin to combat OILY SKIN. Yes, I'm using accutane for oily skin. It has come to this unfortunately If you are doing the same, please share your experiences and don't hesitate to ask questions. I'm finding very few logs and few publications on accutane for oily skin therapy, but pooling our separate experiences and knowledge may help us understand the mechanisms by which we can successfully reduce sebum production long-term. My case: I'm
