  1. Hey, I’m 14 years old supposedly struggling with hormonal acne. I’ve got spots and blackheads on my forehead, acne scars on my cheeks, whiteheads and blackheads on my nose and clogged pores pretty much everywhere. I’ve considered using AHA and BHA peels by The Ordinary as I’ve heard chemical peels really benefit your skin. I was wondering if they really work or if they make things worse. Has anyone tried chemical peels or are there alternatives?

    About Me!

I have been completely fed up with my acne! I have been struggling with acne since I was in elementary school and it has just become progressively worse. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to help with this debilitating skin condition, with no luck. I have kind of let my skin go because of University and I am currently battling mental illness, which has caused me to break out. As a person with multiple debilitating mental illnesses, acne is just another trigger that can cause extreme episo
  3. Lately, I've been thinking about changing up the products I use. I currently use the Clinique 3-step Acne treatment, and although it cleared most of my acne, I still have many scars (ice pick) and my skin was definitely affected by the chemicals. I was thinking about changing to something more natural. For example, I've heard about African black soap? Basically I'm looking for products that will maintain my clear skin but also clear my scars. I've heard that vitamin c serum helps in healing scar
  4. Save your money, reduce your exposure and your impact on the environment. You don't need all that stuff. It's not doing anything for you. See also this thread about helping your skin function rather than hampering it;s abilities with soap & emulsifying & occlusive topicals. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/330732-help-your-skin-function-stop-impairing-it/ Most of the products in the skin & hair care aisles is there to solve a problem caused by the other products. 5. Hey people. I made a new blog today and thought I'd share it here. It isn't exactly about diet or the holistic approach, but I do still consider it holistic because it has to do with mentality and being open to changing our focus when something isn't working. Hope you enjoy. http://thecircledancer.blogspot.com/2013/01/acne-and-determination-knowing-when-to.html
  6. Hello! First time post here! What ingredientes in lotions/makeups etc should be avoided? For instance, acne causing ingredients, and just bad ingredients like petrolatum and other chemicals....? I'm sure the list is ridiculous, but maybe some of the most common? I've been trying to educate myself about what I'm putting on my body. Thanks!
  7. Okay, yeah it sucked to be 35 and still have acne with pores that were getting larger. It started at 15. It's been a life-long humiliation. And has severely affected my self-esteem. I hated it so bad. I also suffer from OCD, so it's hard to keep my hands off my face. I had it all, black heads, white heads, cystic acne. However; about a year ago, the symptoms started to mutate to something more severe. I started itching head to toe. It seemed to turn into a contact type of dermatitis. I experimen
