  1. So I just switched from Sprintec (Ortho tri cyclin) back to my regular bc Orsythia because Sprintec was making my breakouts so much worse. Along with that I started taking doxy and almost immediately my acne cleared. Since then it has been about two months and slowly my acne has started coming back. Yesterday I went to the derm with no makeup on feeling ugly and discouraged. They prescribed me spirolactone and cephalexin along with clindamycin to use along with my regular bp. I'm at such a loss
  2. So for the last month or two, I've had these little pimples on the back of my neck; strictly at my hairline on the left and right sides. Mostly on the right, but there is a little bit on the left. I am on month four of Accutane and I figured this was some sort of side effect. The odd thing is that my face is staying very clear, so I couldn't understand why I was breaking out on my neck. Keep in mind that I've never had zits on the back of my neck my entire life. Even prior to going on Accutane.
  3. Well... I guess I need to change the description on this blog. It's not going to be a 4 to 5 month process... it's going to be a 6 to 7 month process and maybe even longer... [email protected]!% I met with my dermatologist on Tuesday (today is Thursday) and she told me that based off of how badly the side effects are affecting me, especially the paronychia (ingrown nails), it would be better to lower my dosage back to 40mg a day. She's still prescribing me the 2x 40mg pills a day but only wants me to take th
  4. Hey guys I have a mild/moderate case of acne. My problem area is mostly just my forehead and between my eyebrows. I guess it's not that severe but I have been on the topical cream, Epiduo, and the oral pill, Doxycycline on (for months at a time) and off for about two years. Seeing that my body kinda stopped responding to these antibiotics, I went to my dermatologist about a month ago after a considerably bad breakout. She recommended Accutane and I start in about two weeks. She also presc
  5. Heyyyyy! It's been another week already and now I'm done with TWO. WHOLE. MONTHS!! Whoop!!! Btw - I'm counting 1 month as 4 weeks and 1 week as 7 days. So 56 days = 8 weeks = 2 months. Ingrown toenails update: They have improved a whole lot, at least in the pain department, but they're still pretty red. Taking the Cephalexin (500mg 2x a day for 10 days - today is day 8) seemed to majorly help and then another derm (because my derm wasn't available) prescribed me Triamcinolone which is a topic
  6. So, I have been using DKR for exactly 7 months today. Although it has cured my cystic acne and lessened the size and duration of normal breakouts, it has not stopped normal breakouts from coming, which is very disappointing as I really thought DKR was going to be "it" for me. Over the last few months, I have been doing a lot of research trying to come up with an answer as to why I started to experience adult onset acne when I was 24. Up until that point, I truly had crystal clear skin... not eve
  7. So it all began about a week before Christmas. My skin was perfectly fine then i went to take a shower and get ready to go out and all of a sudden there was HUGE pimpled right on my cheek. it took forever to clear up and every since then i have been getting acne repetitively. I used to hardly ever get any pimples. Occasionally i would break out but then after that cleared up i would be fine. But the past few months i will break out, it will clear up for a day, and then back to breaking out. My
  8. I am a 17 year make and I take two cephalexin a day (sometimes one, but I try to take two) and it smells disgusting. As soon as I open the bottle a wave of rotten sulfur smell hits my nose. I am wondering if because I take this medication it is causing me to smell bad like the medication. How would I know? And is it possible for this to happen?
  9. Hola. So, it's been a rough week. If you read my SOS message then you know that ingrown nails are becoming a problem for me (pictures in my album - they're not too gross). I have no previous history and I take very good care of my nails (which I guess might be the problem) so I don't think it's anything I'm doing plus I've googled and most podiatrists and dermatologists say they're common with accutane/ isotretinoin. I have one on each foot, on the same toe and these are preventing me from my d
  10. New member of this site. Definitely not a new member of the acne club. I started having acne in junior year of high school. At the time they were like a few pimples and it was very manageable as I could just shrug it off. As I got through the rest of high school, things went down a slope. To keep it short, more breakouts, more pimples, more sadness. I've tried so many methods. Medicines like sulfur pads, epiduo, metrogel, etc. I've tried commercial products like proactiv, neutrogena, etc. Al
  11. I'm just going to use this as a way to vent frustrations or hopefully more often get excited about progress. I (21F) have always struggled with acne, but it didn't get horrible until the last six months. After getting the Mirena IUD, I broke out with cystic acne on my cheeks that really shattered my confidence. I tried a ton of OTC treatments since then, since it's always worked in the past. However, a couple weeks ago I had the worst breakout of my life and decided I've had enough. I we
  12. Good morning! Well.... good morning, good afternoon, or good evening based on where you are in the world and what time you read this... So, I don't have many new things to talk about this week because I started a new job and have been sooooooo flippin' busy trying to manager school, job, and health that I kept forgetting to keep up my own personal day-to-day acne diary. Y'all get the condensed version. But even with the job I've still been eating clean with the occasional junk meal. No, I'm
  13. I'm 33 and have had moderate to severe acne my whole life. It didn't finally start to get better til my late 20's, and has been better for a while on my face but is still not going away on my back. I was on minocycline as a teen and my dr recently put me back on that but I couldn't stand it. I know that everyone is different, but I seem to be the person in the minority that experiences the rare side effects of most medications. Yay me. So anyway I took the minocycline for 5 weeks but had to
  14. Hey guys about 10 days ago I got this tight, painful feeling under my nose, then a small pimple erupted from it over 2-3 more days. I then decide to pop it and use dettol to clean the wound. I made sure of getting rid of all pus until only blood was coming out. Advance 5 days later and 2-3 more white heads had erupted around it. Which I then popped and disinfected again. This grew back a big ugly scab. At this point I had enough and went to doctor cos it came back worse. He said I had impet
