  1. I've had acne since my teens. I waited in hope for it to clear up in my 20's then when I hit my 30's but it stayed. I had some sucess with Finacea (azelaic acid), it cleared my skin quite well for a while but eventually my skin seemed to get used to it. I carried on using it because my acne was better when I used it but I still had a general covering of spots from my face down my chest, tops of my arms and down my whole back. So recently I decided to cut out sugar. I had decided this beca
  2. After suffering from acne for many years, and trying everything, paleo diet, antibiotics etc etc, I am having success with a new diet, that treats insulin resistance properly. We know diet effects blood sugar levels, which in turn effects insulin levels and this effects androgen production, which effects sebum production which effects how bad our acne is etc. I tried to treat this using paleo, limited carbs high fat. It was too hard for me, I felt bad all the time, no energy etc. It was only unt
  3. If grains are just empty carbs and deplete nutrients according to the paleo diet, then why do asians have such perfect skin in their culture? Do they balance those empty carbs with all that raw fish? Cause if you expose an asian to a Western diet, they will get a terrible case of acne usually. Also i have developed a serious case of dandruff in the past few days! I have not hand dandruff for years! I just got this Sunday! I think my B vitamin levels are getting really bad (biotin perhaps?).
  4. Hi there! I have recently started looking into gaining weight and using diet to cure my acne, two things that do not mix well... I work out quite a lot, about 5-6 times a week and my struggle atm is getting enough carbs. The things I'm cutting out are anything with gluten, dairy or a lot of added sugar. Also potatoes.. But simply cause I don't like them, haha. The only typical carby things I'm eating atm are oatmeal and quinoa. I find it hard to make interesting meals with just these two thin
  5. Hello. Recently i started no dairy, no-sugar, and no carbs diet. I have seen an improvement, everything's all right. But i'm wondering: No dairy seems to be clear for me - i'm not a calf. No sugar? I'm replacing it with fruit sugar - fructose - cool. But no carbs? In the food pyramid Bread, rice, pasta, etc. makes base of pyramid, which means they are most important. Wherever you look you can see people telling that carbs are good for your brain, etc. So, i'm afraid about my health. I ne
  6. Insulin resistance can contribute to acne, but I just found out that everyone may be more insulin resistant in the morning. It's called the dawn phenomenon. The dawn phenomenon, when blood sugar rises during the night, is related to the Somogyi effect, where blood sugar falls during the night. http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/6368151 That study says: "The observed increase in insulin in the early morning hours despite stable levels of glucose indicates a temporally increased insulin need in non
  7. So I saw that almost everyone started to avoid junk food and sugar to stop breaking out. Ok !! It's a good thing and I'm glad that people are more conscious about nutrition and the results of our healthy are behind our food and nutrition. But I saw that the people are afraid to eat even HEALTHY FOOD. I saw topics that users don't know what to eat even more and they avoid even the vegetables and fruits. I saw comments which say that "sugar is my biggest weakness" or "I don't know what to eat
