  1. I have had acne for ~ 3 years and severe cystic acne over the past 12 months. It used to completely cover my back/shoulders and face, however after persistent use of 5% benzoil peroxide and eliminating dairy from my diet my back is now acne free, howbeit covered in keloidal scars. My face on the other is odd. It is completely clear except for large patches on and around my mouth - see attatched photos. The fact that most of my fact that my face is clear except for the acne you can see in the pho
  2. I've never felt worse. I really do need help. I'll get straight to the problem and leave the cries below. It's quite a lengthy paragraph, but I don't think I could summarise it any further. Someone, please help me. As one who always strived for self-improvement, I noticed that my hairline was receding a little. I'm only 21, but I went ahead with the finasteride route - taking a pill that would inhibit the conversion of testosterone to a chemical known as DHT associated with male pattern bald
  3. I’ve been using African black soap for a month now too. When can I expect to see results if it works?
  4. Hello I’ve been using differin for 4 1/2 weeks now and my acne is terrible. I’ve attached pictures. Keep in mind I use to only have like 1-2 pimples here max. Should I quit differin?r
  5. So I just finished my second course of Accutane 2 months ago in April 2018 and I'm already starting to breakout again. On my first course the same thing happened; I broke out ~2 months post treatment. Is it viable to go on a third course or should I just look into other options? On both courses of Accutane I was on I reached well above the cumulative dosage for my BW with 180mg/kg for the first course (i was on it for 9 months) and 150mg/kg for the second course (7 months). Another questi
  6. I’ve been suffering from acne since I was 13 and I am 16 now turning 17 soon and the acne has only just gotten worse. There was a period in time where my skin started to clear up when I applied Tea Tree Oil to it every night but it dried my skin out so I stopped using it and my acne just came back way worse as soon as I stopped, so I tried to go back to it but now my skin just rejects it and nothing has changed. Ive heard the amazing reviews on the Indian healing clay mask so I got some an
  7. Hey, I am a new acne.org member. I am in a dilemma of choosing an efficient and budget friendly sunscreen for my skin. Provided that I breakout easily and have super oily skin. Which of these is good?
  8. Hi, I am 26yo male. I have been using La Roche Posay Effeclar duo Benzyol Peroxide for a few years. Before starting the regimen, my acne was very mild. I had grown out of the worst of my teenage acne by that point. I guess I wanted perfection. For the past few years, using BP, my skin has been relatively clear, but I now have fine lines and sun damage due to the BP. So, a few months ago, I decided to quit BP cold turkey (not realizing that was a horrible idea). My skin has been getting worse and
  9. i am 17 years old and i have had acne since i was about 13 or 14. when i was 14 my acne got so bad to the point where my mom took me to a dermatologist and i was prescribed a gel with benzoyl peroxide and a face wash as well. that did nothing to my skin, in fact it made it worse so i stopped. when i was 16, i found the perfect routine and my skin was CLEAR for 5 months. i used african black soap and jojoba oil, and exfoliated with a mix of honey and brown sugar every week. in august, it wasn
  10. every morning i wake up and i have at least 3 new pinple, why is that! im gonna change my routine soon but i dont know why is my skin doing that and theres of every thing, big pimples white head, some big one, small one. if i change my diet maybe?
  11. So I’ve been taking a generic form of yaz birth control continuously (meaning I take only active pills to not get a period) for a few months, and my skin has been unbelievably clear after a long struggle. Recently I had to take an antibiotic for a UTI. The antibiotic interfered with my birth control and decreased its effectiveness, which I knew because I started bleeding and continued to bleed for almost a week and half. This was about three weeks ago. Since the antibiotic and the bleeding, I h
  12. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he
  13. Hey guys. I'm new here. Anyways, as most of you-- I basically tried EVERYTHING there is to offer in the market but nothing ever worked for me. Ever since I was 10 (which was when I first started having my periods and now I'm 19 nearly 20), I was already experiencing acne breakouts. My mom would send me to the best dermatologist every Saturday in my city 'til I was 13. Constant extraction from the doc. Constant shit on my face and it would never ever stop! So my dermatologist then suggested Ac
  14. Hello. I have my skin care routine that works for me. My skin care routine includes neutrogena acne facial wash then epiduo then moisturizer and sunblock in the morning, and tretinoin 0.5% in the evening. However, my problem is the last time I transferred from home to my current apartment, I had severe breakout. Probably because the apartment had redecoration and all of my stuff are new. (Does these have effect on breakouts?) It took two years or so for my skin to clear up again. 2 months from
  15. I've started using AHA+ / glycolic acid this week after being on the regimen for a month as recommended. My skin was so clear and smooth before introducing the AHA and now it's really red and I've had a breakout. Is this normal? Did this happen to anyone else too? I've been really strict with the regimen, following all the steps etc. I have mild to moderate acne so found that it cleared really quickly. I'm now worried that it's got really bad again. I've been using a pump of AHA (the acne.org
  16. So I was in Australia for three weeks on a rugby tour. However I did not take my normal proactive three step regimen (the new one with the toner) since my parents believe it to bleach sheets and they wouldn't want a billet families sheets bleached. However I did take some neutrogena applicants and a la Roche face wash. These did not clear my skin but my skin only worsened a little bit, except for my forehead and nose which began to clear on the trip. Though when I got back my skin really started
  17. Hi all, I'm just over 4 months post accutane (second round, first was 15 yrs ago) I'm noticing a breakout....nothing major but a few new small spots each day. Is it normal to have a breakout after treatment? If it gets worse I can call the derm nurses who have said we can look at another course (I really hope that's the case and I won't have to go back to gp for a referral etc) just interested in people's opinions/experiences. I'm trying not to stress about it I feel that could make things worse
  18. Hi! I just want to share my journey and ask for some opinions as well. I have been having problems with pimples since I was in college, but it did not really bother me a lot since it's not that severe and I stayed mostly clear. Just a few here and there especially when I have my period. However, I think my acne situation got worse now that I am 25. I have tried loads of products, including costly visits to dermatologists. Some have worked for a short time until my skin decides to betray me a
  19. Gday, A little background about me. I had pretty bad acne from about 2005-2011 when I was 14-20 and decided to go on accutane which cleared me up fully. I didn't get any bad breakouts except for the occasional one here and there until a few months ago, and my skin now looks almost as bad as when I started accutane. I have bad acne scars and every pimple I get now seems to leave a pitted scar no matter what I do. I've recently started a cocktail of vitamins to try and get rid of my
  20. I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I recently started using the Acne.org regimen that includes the face wash, the benzoyl peroxide treatment, the moisturizer, and the 10% glycolic acid moisturizer. My problem is that I keep breaking out in what I can tell to be whiteheads and cystic pimples that eventually come to the surface as whiteheads. My skin is extremely oily but I don't know what is causing my skin to breakout like this. My face typically only has one or two bumps but after using
  21. hey, i recently change my Neutrogena oil free fps 15 moisturizer to Neutrogena oil free combination skin moisturizer cause the fps15 was too greasy. i also started using witch hazel for about a week. those 2 combined made my forehead even moire oily !! while the goal was to get it less oily. i only used those 2 new products on my forehead, i had a smallbreakout and i tought witch hazel would help it, oh boy i was wrong, made thing worse, broke out in tiny small pimples everywhere on
  22. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
  23. Hey everyone. so I had a facial about 3 weeks ago. needless to say, I will not be getting another. I had a breakout and decided to go to an esthetician so they could get me pointed in the right direction with better skincare products tailored to my needs and such. I my sister had gone to her previously and she has alot of experience with acne. n fact, she had pretty severe cystic acne herself that she had since cleared up. anyway, I had a deep cleansing facial with extractions done. the extracti
  24. Hi! I am currently taking Isotretinoin 20 mg a day on my second month. I am using the generic Myorisan but I had a random breakout!! I know my first month I was taking the generic Zenatane 20 mg so I was thinking, maybe I have to switch back to Zenatane? But they are both 20 mg!!! Or maybe I have to go to 30 mg because I became immune to 20 mg? Or is this just a normal thing with Isotretinoin? Is this everything coming to the surface? Like I said, I am in the middle of my second month. Did any
  25. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid
