  1. I tried to stop obsessing over my acne last few months, without so much success to be honest. I tried limiting eggs for a while and nightshades but didn't seem to do anything, as usual. I have also been trying to eat less foods that make me fart, hoping there is some kind of ludicrous connection between farting and acne lol. That means less fruit and veg and wheat, if any, which means eating like a weirdo and then the inevitable binges like the big girl I am. Acne was so so for last few week
  2. I'm in university right now and I've suffered a lot of emotional hardship as I battled my acne. In highschool, I used a topical from a dermatologist and for a year or so, it worked until one day, I broke out TERRIBLY bad overnight. Everyday, I looked at people with clear skin (I still do) and wondered why my skin wasn't like them. Why my friends didn't go through what I did. What hurt me the most back then was when people teased me about how huge my pimples were or how red I looked. Acne really
  3. Okay. I just need to vent a little here. I apologize in advance. WHY is my skin doing this? The initial clearing was absolutely a tease. There's this decently-sized red bump on my cheek and whiteheads on both my forehead and cheeks. This is so uncool. I have to admit that yes, my skin is getting less inflamed and these breakouts will heal like the rest, but goodness this is saddening. Especially without the aid of face makeup. I can't stop looking at my skin. Look at my photo
  4. Hi! I just want to share my journey and ask for some opinions as well. I have been having problems with pimples since I was in college, but it did not really bother me a lot since it's not that severe and I stayed mostly clear. Just a few here and there especially when I have my period. However, I think my acne situation got worse now that I am 25. I have tried loads of products, including costly visits to dermatologists. Some have worked for a short time until my skin decides to betray me a
  5. Soooo I'm honestly so frustrated with everything right now. I'm so depressed and I actually dread waking up in the morning because it means looking in the mirror. I am so embarrassed when I am around my friends and the whole time I'm with them I just want to run home and hide my face. Acne is the first thing on my mind when I wake up and the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep. So here's my story: Around the end of July (a month ago), the 23rdish, I had a pretty shitty breakout ar
  6. I'll start off with an update on my "progress", which is not good. I have developed three cysts on my face, one on my hairline (which is quite painful), one on the side of my nose and one on my eyebrow. Gah! I'm doing nothing different; I'm still taking antibiotics once a day, and using the benzoyl peroxide/retinoid gel, and taking the Pill. So I think I need to seriously consider seeing a dermatologist. The longer I leave it the more scars I accrue. I don't think this is the flare up from makeu

    Oily Forehead: Weather Related?

I am a 21 year old male. I was a senior in highschool in 2010, this is when I first started noticing I had oily greasy forehead skin. In fact, someone pointed it out to me one day and said my head looked really really shiny and made a big deal about it. I still never had hardly even a single zit. After the summer of 2011 I started breaking out horrendously. It was god awful and it was certainly severe acne. (around this time I also got a yorkie dog. I notice that when I take him to the
  8. Hey everyone! 3 weeks ago, I had a 7 hour bone graft surgery done where a piece of bone was taken from my hip and grafted into my jaw. This surgery caused lots of swelling and I was given dexamethasone (decadron) through my IV as well as prednisone. The first week and a half after my surgery, my skin was really clear but just a bit oily. By the second week after my surgery, my skin broke out horribly! I have several pimples all over my chin, neck, cheeks, and the sides of my face. I went to
  9. Wondering if anyone has ever experienced a larger than usual breakout (I'm talking like 10+ spots in the space of 2-3 days) after introducing quite an intense workout regime into their daily schedule. I've recently joined the gym and have been doing anywhere between 35 minutes to 1 hour of cardio 4/5 times per week. Not 'light' cardio either. Before then I was pretty much only lightly active at best. I'm breaking out mainly around the lower portion of my face in little clusters --- jawline nex
  10. Hi, I am 26yo male. I have been using La Roche Posay Effeclar duo Benzyol Peroxide for a few years. Before starting the regimen, my acne was very mild. I had grown out of the worst of my teenage acne by that point. I guess I wanted perfection. For the past few years, using BP, my skin has been relatively clear, but I now have fine lines and sun damage due to the BP. So, a few months ago, I decided to quit BP cold turkey (not realizing that was a horrible idea). My skin has been getting worse and

    How Do I Fix This?

Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've used this website to do some research on the Regimen and just acne in general. I need help classifying what my type of acne is, moderate or severe or maybe in between.. and with that, I want to know the best way to tackle this. I guess I'm sort of lucky, as I've only had acne for about ~6 months. I'm 17. I have a picture back in November where I barely have any acne, just a few pimples! And also a few photos I took this morning, for a comparison. And boy is

    The Right Razor

Hey Guys, I was wondering what type of razor you guys use when shaving. I know electric razors are the best for us but I want to get a closer shave. Would you recommend triple, double, or single blade razors? Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

    Quitting Yaz After A Week

I've just started taking yaz about a week ago, but I've been getting some nasty side effects (cystic acne every where, severe nausea, depression, anxiety). I was wondering, since i"ve only taken it for about a week, will my acne return with vengeance once i get off it? i know people say to stick with it but i can't handle wanting to vomit at all times of the day and not being able to breathe. But I don't want more breakouts. I had pretty much clear skin with some minor breakouts, but the doc sub
  14. Hi! I am currently taking Isotretinoin 20 mg a day on my second month. I am using the generic Myorisan but I had a random breakout!! I know my first month I was taking the generic Zenatane 20 mg so I was thinking, maybe I have to switch back to Zenatane? But they are both 20 mg!!! Or maybe I have to go to 30 mg because I became immune to 20 mg? Or is this just a normal thing with Isotretinoin? Is this everything coming to the surface? Like I said, I am in the middle of my second month. Did any
  15. hey, i recently change my Neutrogena oil free fps 15 moisturizer to Neutrogena oil free combination skin moisturizer cause the fps15 was too greasy. i also started using witch hazel for about a week. those 2 combined made my forehead even moire oily !! while the goal was to get it less oily. i only used those 2 new products on my forehead, i had a smallbreakout and i tought witch hazel would help it, oh boy i was wrong, made thing worse, broke out in tiny small pimples everywhere on
  16. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
  17. So I just finished my second course of Accutane 2 months ago in April 2018 and I'm already starting to breakout again. On my first course the same thing happened; I broke out ~2 months post treatment. Is it viable to go on a third course or should I just look into other options? On both courses of Accutane I was on I reached well above the cumulative dosage for my BW with 180mg/kg for the first course (i was on it for 9 months) and 150mg/kg for the second course (7 months). Another questi
  18. Hi all, I'm just over 4 months post accutane (second round, first was 15 yrs ago) I'm noticing a breakout....nothing major but a few new small spots each day. Is it normal to have a breakout after treatment? If it gets worse I can call the derm nurses who have said we can look at another course (I really hope that's the case and I won't have to go back to gp for a referral etc) just interested in people's opinions/experiences. I'm trying not to stress about it I feel that could make things worse
  19. Hey guys. I'm new here. Anyways, as most of you-- I basically tried EVERYTHING there is to offer in the market but nothing ever worked for me. Ever since I was 10 (which was when I first started having my periods and now I'm 19 nearly 20), I was already experiencing acne breakouts. My mom would send me to the best dermatologist every Saturday in my city 'til I was 13. Constant extraction from the doc. Constant shit on my face and it would never ever stop! So my dermatologist then suggested Ac
  20. Hello. If your skin has broke out recently it could kind of be a blessing as you have probably been indulging in dairy, sweets etc in the Christmas periods. Imagine if you did the opposite, no dairy, plenty low gi foods, easy on the caffeine and plenty of exercise. You would help to balance your hormones and really clear your skin up. My skin was at it's very worst one Christmas. Now im clear doing the above and having a really simple skin care regime. Can now look back and help to stop
  21. I'm on my 12th day of accutane and I'm on 20mg twice a day (40mg) around 3 days ago I started with two cystic pimples on the right side of my chin, both have begun to go down but now there's about 13 total pimples in that one area of my face. Could this be the initial breakout? And is it normal to only have the initial breakout in one localized spot? Anyone with a similar experience please comment!
  22. So I've been on 100 mg a day of spironolactone for almost 6 months now and I need help deciding if I should call it quits and move on and try accutane in an attempt to clear my skin. I've taken it religiously and I don't know if it's really doing me any good. My skin has always been oily and I would get cystic pimples from time to time but around a year ago, things got really bad. I wasn't getting a huge pimple occasionally, instead I had like 7 huge ones at once so I went to the derm and he gav

    Accutane Advice/info

I am on day 7 of isotrentioin. Before going on accutane I have had acne for about 9 years, the cystic kind that leaves redmarks for months and really sucks. About day 3 of 40mg a day for my 165 lb self I started breaking out and the acne was all dry and left red marks. Day 7 the acne is still coming through rapidly. I know that everyone reacts differently to this medication but I feel that with this information I can already be catagorized. For those of us that have a bad, fast responding intial
  24. I started accutane about two weeks ago and I'm wondering if I'm able to eat foods that would usually break me out and not worry while on accutane? I know your supposed to take it with a high fat meal like peanut butter(but that breaks me out). Almonds, dairy, and pretty much all things that could break someone out do break me out. Would really appreciate some help.
  25. I'm still breaking into month 3 (on 40mg) of accutane. I never really got massive cysts before taking accutane but now i'm covered in them on my chin and jawline. My face looks a LOT worse than it ever has because i've got so much hyperpigmentation, scars and cysts right now. I'm just feeling really down as school starts next week and i'm feeling more paranoid than ever about my face and looking people in the eye. All i've been using is cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer cream along with drinking
