  1. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid

  3. I am completely lost. My acne is absolutely killing me. None are cystic, but my cheeks and chin are covered in skin colour, and red pimples. I've also recently developed a patch around 1.5 cm in width, which is red, dry and hard, but is not painful. I'm not sure what it is. Also, I get a breakout the same day every week. I will wake up the next morning with whiteheads on my chin. I have sports on this day, but i don't sweat, and i can't recall touching my face more than i usually do, so i have
  4. Hey, I am a new acne.org member. I am in a dilemma of choosing an efficient and budget friendly sunscreen for my skin. Provided that I breakout easily and have super oily skin. Which of these is good?
  5. I'm 19. I eat healthy, rarely have sugar in my diet. I drink around two litres of water daily + 2 cups of green tea. My skin has never been this bad in my life. Not even going through puberty. I don't have cystic acne. But they're clusters of pimples, I would usually get them on my cheeks badly(still do) but now I have then all along my chin it's like a little trail. They're weepy after I squeeze them then they scab. I get about a 5cent peice diameter of redness around the pimple and it make
  6. So I’ve been taking a generic form of yaz birth control continuously (meaning I take only active pills to not get a period) for a few months, and my skin has been unbelievably clear after a long struggle. Recently I had to take an antibiotic for a UTI. The antibiotic interfered with my birth control and decreased its effectiveness, which I knew because I started bleeding and continued to bleed for almost a week and half. This was about three weeks ago. Since the antibiotic and the bleeding, I h

    Acne not leaving

I had mild acne, so I was prescribed minocycline 100mg a day along with other home remedies. I have been doing this for 5 months and saw little improvement so my dose was increased to 200mg a day along with retin a. I exercise daily, no dairy, moisturize, change sheets every 3 days, plenty of water along with vitamin A and C supplements. My acne has seemed to be getting worse recently and I feel hopeless. Any ideas?

    Breakout 4 Years After Accutane

Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
  10. i started ortho tri cyclen almost 3 months ago for my acne. i had taken yaz for years before with great results but had to switch after insurance issues. my skin has seemed to keep getting worse (a lot more deep pimples, mostly on my cheeks and around my mouth) since starting the OTC, but I don't know if that's the cause. I deal with dermatillomania so my skin also reflects how well I'm doing with the picking at the moment. Everyone says to give it time, but how long do I have to wait until I ca

    December 14th 2016

So this is my first entry, and I think I should start with who I am. Maybe this will help you relate and maybe stuff that helps me will help you! So I'm a 21 year old girl with not too severe acne but enough acne to lower my self-esteem. My journey so far: I had baby skin throughout puberty. Like. My skin was epic. Beautiful. Made from the gods. Okay, maybe not that good but you get the picture. And then it slowly said "F you UnspoiledDude, F you!" and changed into this mess of a skin.
  12. Hello I’ve been using differin for 4 1/2 weeks now and my acne is terrible. I’ve attached pictures. Keep in mind I use to only have like 1-2 pimples here max. Should I quit differin?r
  13. i am 17 years old and i have had acne since i was about 13 or 14. when i was 14 my acne got so bad to the point where my mom took me to a dermatologist and i was prescribed a gel with benzoyl peroxide and a face wash as well. that did nothing to my skin, in fact it made it worse so i stopped. when i was 16, i found the perfect routine and my skin was CLEAR for 5 months. i used african black soap and jojoba oil, and exfoliated with a mix of honey and brown sugar every week. in august, it wasn
  14. Hello. I have my skin care routine that works for me. My skin care routine includes neutrogena acne facial wash then epiduo then moisturizer and sunblock in the morning, and tretinoin 0.5% in the evening. However, my problem is the last time I transferred from home to my current apartment, I had severe breakout. Probably because the apartment had redecoration and all of my stuff are new. (Does these have effect on breakouts?) It took two years or so for my skin to clear up again. 2 months from

    Hormonal Acne Scars

I have a hormonal scars that are slighlty indented and i have been using Braggs undiluted organic APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. It seems to be making a difference! I have uploaded a photo. The one that has a circle is the indented one. If it works itd be a great cheap alternative! I just rub some on the scars with a q-tip at night. Sometimes multiple times a night. When u apply it the area will become red, but itll be gone by the morning
  16. Hi! I'm new to this forum but have occassionally came across with discussions here when searched other acne/skin problem related things from the net. I started jojoba oil to my regimen some 2/3 weeks ago. I read many articles where people have praised the oil and finally decided to give it a try since my then current regimen didn't really help with the forehead/large pore problem/oiliness. When my 3rd week of jojoba oil use started my forehead was a mess and is still (ofc). I stopped it 3 da
  17. After a chocolate binge on Thursday the 9th May and Friday the 10th i have completely removed all refined sugar from my diet + milk. I had a very bad breakout 2/3days after the chocolate binge so from the ~13th but this only last for a few days or so and started cleaning up from about last weds/thurs[15/16]. Something to note is that i also started eating fruit from the 9th May onwards so this well could of been the culprit rather/plus the chocolate. Although i compellingly removed a

    Cheek Acne Cure.

Alright people, im an 18 year old male and over the last few years ive been dealing with moderate acne, i get the odd one in different places but i always seem to have a ton, on my CHEEKS. Primarily THE RIGHT cheek. I believe i have found the cure and it is so simple im dumbfounded. They say the cheeks ( on your face of course lol) primarily the right one, is correlated to your lungs. Ive noticed that im always breathing through the mouth, which is NOT healthy for lungs. Breathing throuh the n

  20. Anyone who is/has been on these two medications, please tell me how your experience was! I just finished week two and my skin is definitely more dry, but it's not too bad because I do moisturize and that helps. I have noticed a few new small pimples and I know that could be the initial breakout because it's pushing all the bumps under my skin, through. Just wondering what I should expect based on your experiences? if it's worth it to stick through. I never had acne growing up, just recently I s
  21. hello mates! it's been about 5 days since i used lemon on my acne spots(PIH) and few bumps i had. after 3 days or so..i broke out in places that i thought was either cured or only a small bump. also, the bumps which were really tiny grew bigger and they are like hard milia now..although am not sure if they are milia at all. i'm certain that it's the lemon juice which has caused this..because i have zits and whiteheads or bumps only in places where i'd put lemon juice for 3 days. i'm
  22. I've started using AHA+ / glycolic acid this week after being on the regimen for a month as recommended. My skin was so clear and smooth before introducing the AHA and now it's really red and I've had a breakout. Is this normal? Did this happen to anyone else too? I've been really strict with the regimen, following all the steps etc. I have mild to moderate acne so found that it cleared really quickly. I'm now worried that it's got really bad again. I've been using a pump of AHA (the acne.org
  23. Hey guys! I'm a newbie here on the forum. Found it browsing google for some visual documentation and stories about patients progress with Accutane. I'm 25, male, 160lbs on 80mg/daily and will be at 3 months in about a week. Just wanted to add to the numerous other posts detailing what other people are experiencing, showing that I'm not alone in the suffereing of dealing with the side effects and the whole ordeal of acne itself. I'm posting some pictures to show how my face is doing currenty. (I
  24. Gday, A little background about me. I had pretty bad acne from about 2005-2011 when I was 14-20 and decided to go on accutane which cleared me up fully. I didn't get any bad breakouts except for the occasional one here and there until a few months ago, and my skin now looks almost as bad as when I started accutane. I have bad acne scars and every pimple I get now seems to leave a pitted scar no matter what I do. I've recently started a cocktail of vitamins to try and get rid of my
  25. Not much happening. Feel like I have to apply lip balm every 10 minutes all day and I am breaking out in random huge spots all over rather than clusters now. They are those big painful under the skin ones. I am popping them, because of pain and how they look I can't leave them.
