  1. I used to pop my pimples a lot (yes, I know, biggest acne sin) but only if it was a big, bright whitehead. I would use a needle just like recommended. But, I was told that seeing blood and clear liquid were actually good things, because it meant all pieces of infection and bacteria were oozing out. Now I just learned from acne.org that blood and clear liquid are bad signs. So, two questions: What is the clear liquid? Why is seeing blood and this clear liquid a bad thing when popping z
  2. hv acne for ~10 yrs, diff kinda, clogged scarred pores, stubborn discoloration, getting few scarring as well. overall looking very very bad so my relatives pulled me to the lab to make full blood analysis, also liver, kidneys, vit D3 n hormones N GUESS WHT: my blood is perf! liver perf kidneys perf thyroid perf no inflammation whatsoever!! (immunity great etc) BUT MY PROBS ARE: too low vit D3 (30.1) too high uric acid too high certain hormone (which i actually expec
  3. Hey everyone, I wanted to drop by to offer my brief experience with acne treatments, and what worked for me! I've lurked here from time to time but wanted to make an account to post this. I've never had cystic acne, maybe mild to moderate at times depending on what I ate. Any time digestion gets bogged down it seemed like spots were sure to follow. So for the most part I've been eating a de-facto vegan diet for the past few years about 99% of the time. I don't consider myself vegan or have e
  4. Hi, I'm a brand new poster on this website, so please excuse me if I'm doing anything wrong. I'll start off by saying that I have gone to two different dermatologists, tried everything from over the counter products (literally every single acne topical that claims to clear skin), online products (proactive, acnefree, etc.), prescription products (Tazorac, epiduo, epiduo fote, etc.), antibiotics, birth control, and to even supplements that claim to clear acne as well (yes, I tried that nasty M
  5. So I've had this super sensitive mark on my chin area for about 2 months. For pretty much the whole 2 months it was just a super sensitive raised area that had purple dots and just seemed like an area with extra fluid in it. Didn't look like a cyst or pimple. Just very sensitive. Poked it with a pin and some puss and blood came out but still so much more. How do I get rid of this... What is it....HELP! Thank you!!!
  6. Hello everybody. I started taking Accutane a month ago on a 30 mg/day dose which will be increased to 60 mg/day for the 5 following months. I'm 22 years old male 154 lbs. I had my blood tests done yesterday and got the results today. I am very concerned because some values came out higher than the norm. Cholesterol HDL 0.32 g/l (normal value>0.55) - ALAT Transaminase 53 U/L (normal value<41) - Gamma GT 84 U/l (normal value<60). Should I stop the treatment ? Please help.
  7. Hi all, Recently I ordered and used owndoc 0.5mm, 1.5mm dermarollers and 1.5mm derma stamp. Because I roll aggressively my face gets covered in blood and blood creeps into behind the rollers and stamps needles (Please see the photo). They recommend to use plant sprayer to clean them. With the 0.5mm roller I didn't use the plant sprayer, just washed it under warm water, but blood didn't come of I even used small brush with soap. Then when I used 1.5mm roller I used plant sprayer every tim
  8. Has anyone experienced being sick in the mornings? (i take my Accutane at night) and seem to throw up anything I have first thing in the morning. For the past few days ive noticed small specs of bright red blood and an orange like phlegm (not nice I know). Thing is, im not sure if this is due to Accutane or if it could be something else I should see the doctor for? Really don’t want the doctors to stop me taking it! Already had to go down from 60mg a day to 30mg as derm was concerned about t
  9. So I was supposed to get the prescription for accutane at the end of july, but my insurance did not cover it, so I had to wait until the beginning of september. In July, my derm wrote me a script with the info: "CBC, CMP, UA, Lipid Profile, 706.1" and he signed it. When I got the new script for the accutane in september, the receptionists told me that the script with the blood test info will still be good to take to a testing agency lab. My insurance covers labcorp, so when filling out an appoin
  10. Wound Healing in the Skin

Stage 1: Blood Clotting Stage 2: Inflammation Stage 3: Healing Stage 4: Remodeling Acne Healing The Bottom Line The skin is a complex organ that serves as the body's first protective barrier against the environment. Because the skin is such an important barrier, it must be able to heal itself quickly after an injury, whether the injury is a cut or an acne lesion. The wound healing process is quite complicated. To understand how it works,...
  11. 27/F/ CT NOTE: I will update THIS entry every 5 days for the duration of my treatment to track the progress/side effects. I've been struggling with acne and large pores since I was 13. Moderate, sometimes mild, but persistent. Enough lesions, redness, enlarged pores, blackheads, and scarring to feel very uncomfortable going out in public without makeup on to cover everything. In my teen years it was everywhere: face, chest and back. Chest acne went away sometime in highschool, but the ba
  12. I have been struggling with acne for the past year and a half. It has been an emotional roller coaster that has made me depressive. It all began when I stopped using birth control after having used it for seven years. My skin eventually improved after using natural methods like ACV, clay masks, oils, and accupunture. I only needed a little concealer to feel comfortable leaving the house. That was 4 –6 months ago. 2 months ago, my skin took a turn for the worse and I developed cystic acne all ove
  13. Hi, So for a bit of background: Developed acne after turning 22. I would say it's always been mild to moderate (think it's hormonal due to the fact that I'm a woman and noticed it would be much worse in stressful times and on cheeks/chin). Had to go on oral steroid for 8 weeks. Bam. Right after the steroid got huge cystic pimples on one cheek/ in a cluster. Looked like normal cysts so just thought they would heal up. Fast forward two months later (two injections later) there is still a spot th
  14. I popped a pimple above my nipple on my chest and it has progressively gotten worse (granted I keep picking at it) but it's gotten bigger and scabbed over. Today I could feel puss underneath the scab so I ripped the scab off and got the puss out, except the inside of the zit has a layer of puss and blood still. It currently looks like an open wound but I just opened it. It started off looking as a harmless little zit, wondering if this is something different?
  15. my doctor said to not wipe off the blood and to put the retin A or serum moments before the rolling he said it contains platelets necessary for rejuvenation as in prp and to apply vitamin first and needle because after needling the holes quickly close so the vitamin cant absorb like if you apply moments before and needle with it on your skin tought it wouldbe helpful information and i dont know if it is true, some needling expert here?
  16. Hey yall! Ok so I was messing with something on my nose and of course it bled excessively. Now there's a HUGE black mark on the side of my nose. It looks like a horrribllee nose piercing or something. It's pretty much dried blood under my skin. Very shallow. Very confusing on how to get rid of it. Anything topical doesn't seem very helpful because it's under the skin. It's like after I stopped the bleeding, it decided to be stubborn and stay inside. Thanks if anyone can help
  17. Hi, it's my first time posting on here so here goes nothing! You are gonna think I'm an idiot here but a couple of months ago I tried the toothbrush technique to get rid of blackheads on my chin and nose. BAD IDEA. For days my chin was scabbed over and oozing blood and a clear liquid. It was the same with my nose but it died down quicker and only left a small mark of hyperpigmentation that I just call a burn. On the other hand, even four months on my chin has a permanent scar on the crease and I
  18. Hello everyone, quick simply question here. Everyone here who is on Accutane will know that they have to go and get blood tests monthly to see if their liver functionality is not too high while they are on Accutane. I understand completely that drinking alcohol while on Accutane will drive up your liver functionality even higher which is dangerous. I was wondering since Nicotine is also a toxin so to speak that if I was to use an e-cigarette while on Accutane would that drive up my liver functi
  19. Dammit, my first post got erased before i hit send so im gonna keep it shorter. 13th week of 80mg/day 2nd blood test required. scared because i had a few beers tonight and my test is in 2 days. will this affect results (liver enzymes) i hate blood tests, so dont wanna redo it. also had a slightly high reading of ldl cholestrol...anything i can do to lower the reading between now and saturday? 21. Hi Everyone! I have pretty mild acne, a few spots here and there, a sprinkling of scarring from when it used to be really bad, basically my skin is just about to be perfect but not. This pimple plague had to happen. Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me exactly what a whitehead is? I think it's white blood cells, right? Are whiteheads a good sign that your body is fighting off the pimple? So many questions! Pretty much all the pimples I have turn into whiteheads at some point or
  22. For about three years now I have been struggling with acne. In the first year, I tried many different birth controls, OTC products, and topicals prescribed by my GP. Over the years it has gotten progressively worse. In the last 6 months or so it has become extremely severe and I feel like I have tried every product on the earth, with the exception of accutane. For the record, I was on a waitlist to see a dermatologist for a very long time and finally got an appointment, which won't be until the
  23. Hi im 15 yr with combo skin. I have some very noticeable pimples around my mouth, one on my upper lip line, one just next to my mouth, and other ones but they cure easily. i use the rapid clear salycylic acid spot gel along with the scrub, cleanser and toner. ive been doing this routine w grear results for about 1 1/2 week and this morning. last night the acne on my upper lip line was half blood dried up and half just normal pimple. and the one next to my mouth r clusters and they were f
  24. Hello, I am 17 and I have been on 20mg of accutane a day for 6 weeks now. My dermatologist said to come in after 6 weeks to check on my progress and see about increasing my dosage. The day before I took my blood test to check on my livers health. According to my derm my liver results weren't great and he asked if I had a cold or a viral infection during the 6 weeks I had been on accutane. I told him I had not and he said to wait another 2 weeks and do another test, then call him and see about i
  25. I'm about to get blood tested to join the military. They want to see if i am healthy. My recruiter told me to not mention accutane because they will think I have some serious skin defect. I just have minor acne, was on accutane for a month, two months ago. I am not going to mention I'm taking accutane, do you think they will be able to tell I was on accutane 2 months ago by looking at my blood result? How does one's blood test look like when they are on accutane? Does it look different than
