  1. I've found from going to my Integrative Physician that after years of birth control pills and antibiotics to treat my acne that I have gut dysbiosis or commonly known as "Leaky Gut" which is causing undigested food particles, viruses, fungi, and bacteria to leak into my bloodstream. This taxes my liver because all my bacteria, fungi, and viruses that are suppose to stay in my intestinal tract are heading to my liver and my system is overloaded. I am now 47 years old and I have been dealing with acne since my teens. The meds my doctors put me on to help me have actually caused me to have this issue for my whole adult life, which has been a continual source of frustration and embarrassment. I've tried Accutane, antibiotics, Fractional Laser, Retin-A, Benzoyl Peroxide, glycolic acid, oregano oil pills and anything else that promised results with little improvement. Thankfully, I'm following the diet to eliminate all grains and sugars for up to a year to heal my insides and taking probiotics to repopulate with healthy bacteria to keep the bad guys outnumbered. I'm finally on the right track to get a handle on the acne. If you are suffering like I been, and have a history of birth control pills and/or antibiotics, I strongly suggest healing your gut to heal your acne.

    Non-Itchy Scalp Acne

Hi Everyone, Has anyone ever experienced scalp acne after starting a progestrone-based oral contraceptive? I was diagnosed with adenomyosis (a uterine condition) last year and was prescribed the said contraceptive as treatment. I noticed within a couple of months on the medication that I was breaking out on my face and had pimples all over my scalp. I started breaking out on my face with a few large pimples that took forever to heal and would leave behind red pigmentation in place of the pimple. I'm not sure whether I have folliculitis or not because the pimples aren't itchy and they don't hurt. I also haven't noticed any more hair thinning than usual after starting this pill. I had clear skin on my face without any scars ever since I took Accutane 12 years ago. I would get the occasional pimple once in a blue moon, but my skin would go back to being completely clear and scar-free. I was on Accutane for about 8 months near the end of which I first noticed getting pimples on my scalp. I wasn't concerned about them at the time because I would only get a couple once in a while and they would heal on their own just as quickly. There were long periods when I didn't have any pimples on my scalp. I mentioned them once to my dermatologist, but he said they weren't a concern because they were small in number and they didn't bother me. I've never had any problems going and getting haircuts and having my hair dyed. It has only been since I've started on the progestrone oral contraceptives that I've become conscious about both my face and scalp. After doing some research on the Internet, I decided to do a 10 day colon cleanse, start probiotics, and began doing the apple cider vinegar rinse on my scalp every 2 to 3 days. I have been following this regimen for the past month and the pimples on my scalp had almost completely cleared (2 pimples left) until a few days ago. I now slowly feel the scalp acne returning. I was able to treat my face to quite an extent with products from Lush and my Clarisonic. The only time I notice a few new breakouts now are when I start a new pack of the progestrone-based oral contraceptives. I have no idea how to go about treating the pimples on my scalp. I'm scheduled to see my family doctor next month and I'm pretty sure I'm going to ask to be taken off this medication. I was wondering if I should go ask to be put on Spironolactone instead of antibiotics to help with the remaining acne on my face and definitely on my scalp? Do you guys have any other suggestions for me? Thanks.
  3. Hi everyone! I recently started taking Sprintec to go on Accutane, and I've been experiencing some weight gain. I feel hungry all the time, and I can't stop eating!!!! It's only been about a week since I started taking it, and I can already tell that i've put on a couple of pounds(or more). And this is not normal for me because I finished my period a few days ago, and usually during the following week after my period I lose some weight and not gain. So my question is, has anyone else here experienced a serious increase in appetite/hunger while on the pill?? Thanks!
  4. I went to my first EVER dermatologist appointment today, and was prescribed Epiduo. I am also taking Ortho Tri cyclen (for about 5 months now) BCP. I have mild adult acne (It was moderate, but my initial breakout from the Ortho Tri is over, and it's slowly improving) Never had acne as a teen; just started getting it about 6 months ago, at 25 years old. I've been reading a lot of good reviews about Epiduo on here, however, I am terrified of an initial breakout. I am still recovering from my Ortho Tri IB, which made my acne worse than before I even started the pill. Honestly, I probobly didn't even need to switch birth controls. But I did...so now I've gone too far into it (like I said, 5 months) and may as well stick with it since it appears to slowly be getting better. I had my first bout of "cystic acne" while on my 2nd month of Ortho Tri, now that is over, I just have scars. It did not get rid of the tiny bumps on my jaw and chin, so the dermatologist prescribed me Epiduo. I'm so worried about another initial breakout. Am I more likely to have one than not? I was thinking that I may be less likely to have once, since my skin has already recently been "purged" within the last few months. My derm said "it may, it may not" .....so I'm scared sh*tless...of course. If you tried epiduo, especially if you had only mild acne, did it make your face better or worse, and did you experience an initial breakout? Are there ways to prevent an initial breakout? Again, I know it's probobly a 50/50 chance that I will experience an IB, but I don't like those odds. I want to try this epiduo to clear my face completely...but I am extremely nervous.
  5. Hi everyone. So I'm on vacation and realized I miscalculated my stocks on BC pills for my vacation. I will be running out of pills and won't be having any pack of new BC pills for one week until I go back home. What will happen? Anyone experience this? Would my acne flare up skipping one week? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
  6. Decided to start a log to see if I could make it back to clear skin after my up and down roll coaster of hell on and off the pill. As I've said in the general forum I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for about a year and a half which after the initial break out, left me with perfect, no make up, random stranger compliments, clear skin. It got to the point all I had to do was wash it and I got to stop having to use anything harsher on my face. My skin naturally follows a roller coaster pattern of being sometimes good with minor breakouts, sometimes terrible with all over irritated hurts to touch pimples, and nice clear skin which is the one that always lasts the least amount of time. The pill caused other problems migraines, bloating, weight gain, moodiness. But honestly even after all that it took me a long time to go off cause I knew it was the reason my skin looked so good. Currently I'm waiting out a gi problem so I can't go back on the pill (obviously I would try a new one) right now anyway. My current routine is murad wash morning and night followed my cleocin T gel (antibiotic gel) afterwards. Twice a week I use Lush's Dark Angel Scrub and once a week I do a Glamglow mask. Right now I have some clear ups, still have a patch of about 3/4 pimples that are kind of healing on one cheek and a weird discolored purple blob on the other cheek that I squeezed which seemed to bring up multiple tiny whiteheads. (Joy) I feel like for every pimple I lose I gain two more. i also have a bunch of pimples that went down but have still left behind hyperpigmentation probably because the pimples were there for like 2 months without budging. I also have a few by my mouth.
  7. Will my hair fall out or will my acne be back worse then ever by taking at length, and eventually stopping spironolactone? How long can you take it for? I'm curious because I have a prescription for it (again). First time I only took it a few times but it gave me a low blood sugar feeling. I was told to take a lower dose but haven't tried it. I am worried about taking it because I had been taking birth control pills for almost 10 years. I still had some cysts come up, up until a few years ago. My face towards the 10 year mark was getting clear and little oil! But they are more aggressive now that I stopped taking them 1 year ago. Very oily. My hair fell out in the beginning. My periods were so late. Got hormones checked, I'm good apparently. I didn't know these things could happen, every doctor always said you can just stop taking birth control pills and nothing will happen (I'd wanted to before many times) So what about Spiro? Any not talked about side effects? What should I know? How long can you take it? I am 33, is it like BC pills in that you shouldn't take too late into your 30's? I feel like I learn more of what I should know from the internet than a doctor about side effects etc. So I appreciate your time letting me know your experience with this medication.

No Clear Up With Azithromycin Tabs

New here, A few months ago I went to the physicians to find out if I had breast cancer. It turned out that I had a cyst, assumed due to excessive caffeine intake (the only caffeine I use really is green tea, daily), but was told that my lymph nodes were enlarged everywhere (very visible), plus I had my blood checked to see what my thyroid levels were (was told that my results were "unremarkable") because I was suffering from symptoms of hyperthyroidism (runs in my family, and was personally diagnosed a few years ago after the birth of my Child). I just got over another case of bronchitis (stopped smoking back in '08 after about a decade of on/off half a pack of Marlboro's a day) a few days ago after my first diagnosis in April of this year (I usually suffer from this yearly, as my Mother did and she never smoked a day in her life) and had been Rx'd Azithromycin Tabs, USP @ 250mg (6 tabs) and I my bronchitis issues have mainly subsided, but I'm still suffering from very bad cysts. I eat "Healthy" for the most part (colored veggies/fruits daily with lean meats & nuts) but I haven't been exercising as much as I used to (I have a Child and school isn't in session for them right now so I haven't been able to find the time to exercise) but have been doing yoga and try to meditate when I can (my life right now is very stressful, and maybe perhaps this is where my cysts are coming from?). I've used antibiotics for my acne in the past (Amoxicillin) @ 500mg 2x/day, but a person can only take antibiotics for so long before they become ineffective. Luckily, my acne did clear for some time and my skin was beautiful. Now, I have scars all over the place, and my face feels sore and I've started using Retin-A Micro and Hydroquinone 4% for the scars recently after trying out the "new" Proactiv Solution 30-day trial with the purchase of their fade cream of 2% Hydroquinone. I also bought Neutrogena's original bar of soap along with Cetaphil's soap and CeraVe's skin moisturizer. I did give some time for each product to "work" before moving on to the next (a week apart from each other) but I know I went too crazy, obsessing over trying to clear this crap away! I'm going to ask about birth control pills as well. Has anyone found success with similar issues? My next derm appointment is in a few days, so I Pray that something can finally be done. Thanks for reading!

    Hormonal Acne

Hi, I used to have a perfect skin before i took birth control pills. Even when i was taking it my skin was still perfect until I stopped. My skin became super oily, large pores, zits, white heads, black heads and cystic acne are coming out. I used tea tree oil. It is good but once one acne dries up 4 zits and or cystic acne come out. I just don't know what to do. Shall i take BC pills again? or will the regimen work for me? i think what i have is hormonal acne. i don't know what to do. please help.
  10. Hi, I just wanted to ease my mind regarding the effects of stopping birth control pills especially on the skin which is usually acne breakouts. I have been on Alesse 28 for 4 months only. I am just wondering if anyone who took pills for a few months still got bad acne breakouts? I’m quitting BC pills this week but I’m also scared about its side effects. Please help me. Thanks : (
  11. Can someone please tell me... Is the risk of the development of serious side effects (blood clots, etc.) much higher for women who have been on the pill long-term, versus someone who takes it for a short amount of time?? My derm is trying to get me on Accutane, but I developed a pulmonary embolism following an orththopedic break (femur bone) 4 years ago and I have been told that I shouldn't take hormonal birth control (estrogen) such as BCP because of the risk. I just need to take it for like 8 months, and then I would go back off of it, following the Accutane treatment... I have already looked into other options such as the single hormone shot and non-hormone copper IUD, but I am also uncomfortable with those options.. There is just no easy way and I feel like I am backed into a corner.

    Birth Control Pills Clear Acne?

Hi I was on yasmin contraceptive pill 2 years ago when I was 18 and it cleared my skin up completely (I didn't have a skin problem at the time) I was on it for about 3 months or so. Now 20 I went back on it and I've been on it since the start of November I think and It hasn't cleared the acne that I just got! I went docs n they say I have high levels of androgen but they think it was the stress I had. Do u think the yasmin did this to my skin even though it cleared it once before? And even when u go on the pill the second time it should work?? Or was it stress? HELPPP !! Pls!! Need some answers!!
  13. Hi! This is my first time on this website because I’ve never experienced acne breakouts before. I’m 19 years old and started my freshman year of college in August 2017. After the month I began seeing light, but constant breakouts along my chin, which have never been there before. At the time I was on lo-ogestral birth control. I would occasionally get pimples on my forehead, but nothing too severe. In January 2018 I stared sprintec birth control and my breakout became worse than ever. I wake up everyday with a new pimple on my forehead or chin. They take forever to go away and leave dark marks. My chin and upper part of my forehead is the worst. There are many white heads on my jawline and painful red pimples along my hairline and at the top of my forehead. I am just now finishing the 2nd month of the sprintec pill and I’m not sure what to do! Should I wait it out and see if my body adjusts to this pill (since it is suggested for acne) or should I try to change it! I’m become more insecure of my face everyday and it sucks because Ive never had this problem before so I don’t know what to do! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you so much!
  14. I'm looking through the archives but I was hoping to get some advice through this. I've posted about this before, but I've been on 50 mg (100 for a while) since September 2009, when I was 23. Now I'm 26, on 50 mg, still get cysts, nodules, and papules on my cheeks (especially around my period), and worse, I feel the recurring zits never really heal...just shrink between periods. My skin is horribly inelastic (all over--limbs too, not just face. Cuts, bruises and makes all take too long to heal. My undereye dark circles are worse and where I don't have acne I have purple or faded pink spots/broken capillaries. I think this has weakened my skin A LOT). It's also horribly thinned my hair. I'll be honest--at the risk of being gross, it's made my breasts sag, too. It's made my face saggy/swollen and calves swollen despite exercising the same way and consuming the same amount of salt and calories as I did when on Accutane (perpetual water weight/swelling of tissues, it seems) and while this might be due to the 10 mg of methylphenidate I'm on per day, I feel like this is contributing to muscle soreness/fatigue. I got off Accutane to avoid it. I never dealt with this on Accutane. I've just found out that even on 50 mg for these past several years, I have elevated androgen levels (I'm sorry to say that I forget whether it was DHT or DHEA). The endo prescribed dexamethasone, but I have yet to take it and I'm angry he prescribed a steroid instead of birth control. I take zinc (broke me out years ago, made me oily-now it's working) and vitamin K for the capillaries/acne marks, use retin-a, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and am very careful about what I put on my skin, but if there's even a mildly comedogenic ingredient (or dimethicone) five or six ingredients into, say, a sunscreen, I get cysts and red, irritated flaky patches despite using fragrance-free stuff. I read labels religiously to ensure there's no comedogenic ingredients or irritants like lactic acid, but it's hard. Everything I put on my face, no matter how mild (e.g. Lily of the Desert aloe) irritates and dries me out or breaks me out. I am taking a low dose of the aldo because this genuinely seems to have thinned my hair horribly over time and made me achy/made my skin both sickly and uneven. Yet saw palmetto, neem, horsetail, and a hair, skin and nail supplement with PABA broke me out in angry cysts that never came to a head. I am currently undergoing laser hair removal, so I can't go back on Accutane for at least another two months, but I'm wondering if I should just skip it. I'd like to treat the scars I experience in skin that seemed to thin and weaken specifically on this drug, and I'm worried I can't do that on Accutane, which leaves BCP. I'm scared to couple this with aldactone--worried this will make my acne, mood swings, scars, and perma-bruises/marks worse, worried it'll make the periods aldactone has made extra miserable even more miserable. Is there an inevitable purg, or will being on aldo forestall that? (It sure as hell didn't help when I took a single capsule of herbs meant to treat acne.) Can someone that has experienced elevated androgen levels and has hormonal acne 0advise me? Note--as said, even on 50 mg, having spent three years on this, I had elevated androgens. I don't want to go on a higher dosage of a drug that I don't think is that great and which I see as worsening mood swings during my periods. Does anyone have any thoughts on Dianette, Diane-35, etc.? (I tried the former long ago in high school when I attempted to get off Accutane, trying it by itself--worthless. Still got awful acne and particularly nasty, rubbery big cysts/papules when I menstruated. Is hoping BCP will round out what aldactone can't do asking for trouble?

    Trinessa And Spiro

I've been on 50mg of Spiro for 4 days now. So far, I haven't noticed any difference, but I have been on it once before so I know I will start to see a decrease in oil production very soon. Because it is dangerous to get pregnant on Spiro, my derm is making me get back on birth control. She started me on TriNessa because my insurance won't cover regular Ortho. Anyone have any experience with this? I've been reading up online and the consensus doesn't seem to be too promising...
  16. Can some one explain these charts to me? Because I thought Alesse/Aviane were suppose to be high androgen but these all pretty much say low across the board for estrogen, progesterone, and androgen activity. The more research I do the more I seem to think Aviane (Alesse) is not as bad as everyone says...I never had problems on it....but I know people have. Just like I've had issues on Yasmin the supposed no androgen no acne bcp. So hmmm??

    NEED HELP AND ADVICE

Hi, I really need some help and advice on how I can clear up my acne. I’ve always had acne since purberty and it got worse over the years. I’ve already gone to numerous dermatologists to get it treated so it has subsided from severe to moderate acne. The last dermatologist told me I’ve tried everything. Well, that was helpful... I just want clear skin or at least as clear as I could go get. I really have bad acne especially during my period and most of them are retained in my chin, jaw and lower cheek area so I know it’s hormonal (doctor said the same thing). I have oily/combo skin and have rosacea as well so it can be sensitive. I’m very religious with skincare products and only use safe acne prone friendly skincare products. Oral Pills I’ve tried: Accutane (which helped the most, but i already finished the treatment plan) Birth Control pills Minocycline Spiro (on and off, worked to some effect but it disrupted by menstual cycle too much) Topicals I’ve tried: Clindamycin Aczone Retin-A (tried different %) combo of Retin A, Zinc and Azelaic Acid Epiduo (works the most but still does not clear me up, hurts my skin like hell too, leaves red patchy marks) Vitamins/Supplements I’ve tried: Vitamin A Zinc Probiotics Vitex Vitamin B Complex Hum clear skin I’m at a point where I’m really tempted to go back to birth control pills again but I’m afraid of messing with my hormones and undergoing the initial breakouts and side effects. I also think that this could just be a temporary solution. Any thoughts on this? I also heard that DIM but me another solution? Does this really work? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Just thought I would do a diary on my experience with the Estelle 35ed birth control pills. So it has been about 3 months (on my second last pill on the 3rd pack) and I thought my skin was getting better.. But 2 new pimples have appeared and it looks as if they wont come to a head.. Throughout months 1-3 my skin has broken out, gotten better and then back to square one. End of month 2 and throughout month 3 were the hardest months yet, my breakouts were painful cystic and lots of big hard white heads that don't come to a head and stay under the skin until they turned cystic. I'm hoping that my skin will just get better from now on as I don't want to stress or think about it when I am on holidays (which is in 25 days eek..) Before I started estelle 35ed... - I had controllable acne when I was 13-14 that only came up on my T-zone which I used Proactiv, and that helped nicely for only a few months until my skin got use to it. So I stopped using Proactiv - When I was 15-16 I had a few pimples here and there which didn't bother me as I could use concealer to cover up - After 16 it hit me big.. I was getting painful cystic acne all over my face (including my forehead, which I normally do not get pimples in that area). So I had to do something about it.. I went to my family doctor and asked for some help, she prescribed me over 6-8 months 2-3 different antibiotics including minocyclin and 1-2 different antibiotic topical treatments. The oral antibiotics did not help one bit, it broke me out and left me with more cystic acne plus a white rash which I assume was an allergic reaction. The antibiotic topical treatments helped but only to a certain extent. It did not help with the cystic acne, only the acne that came to a head where it could use its power to penetrate the skin and destroy the bacteria. So I stopped taking the antibiotics and went to a skin pathologist where she prescribed me a personalised herbal solution mixture and some herbal pills, which heck was expensive (100-120 and 60 Australian dollars respectively). However it DID work and it worked great, it cleared up my skin beautifully and I was only left with acne scars which where on its way healing.. However I made a terrible and regretful choice with using a clarisonic on my skin. Man it broke me out good. I thought it was just the initial purge but the pimples kept coming (I used it nightly). My skin freaked out and has never gotten better since (I am now 18 almost 19). - Now back to the present, I have been prescribed Estelle 35ed (a generic version to Diane 35ed) and I have been on it for about 3 months now. I am still getting breakouts (2 pimples have appeared) and I'm very sad that these birth control pills are taking longer than expected, although my doctor has said my skin has improved. But I guess because I look at my face everyday I don't see a dramatic change as she would? I don't know ! I get so depressed even if one pimple appears because that means another scar (I scar easily and it takes a long time for these scars to heal). I'm about to start my 4th pack and hope this month will be less of a roller coaster Also a little FAQ, being a girl, acne has literally changed my life.. for the worse. I get so depressed and self concious that all I like to do is stay home and never go out with my friends.. It has affected me that much... Also to make it worse my family constantly (unintentionally?) brings up about how my face looks (in a bad way) saying things like why is your face so red, you'll get more pimples etcetc. So I am doing this little diary to log my progress with Estelle 35ed so that it might be able to help other people out and myself as I tend to forget things easily Btw does anyone know how to remove red pigmentation from old pimples? Also small indentation scars? Been using the personal microdermabrasion on them for about 3 times and only see slight results (nothing dramatic)
  19. Hi, I really need help!! I am taking yasmin and on placebo week I ALWAYS break out. So I began to take only active pills. Is this ok? I plan to continue doing this (never take sugar pills and go straight to active pills) until I want to have children. PLEASE HELP!!
  20. I have been clear for a little over a month now because of The Regimen. I get a few spots here and there when I get my period or when I get stressed out but it is not that big of a deal. AHA works wonders as a spot treatment. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was around 17 I think and have been on a few types of birth control. For the past 3 years I have been on Diane 35. And though it did clear up my acne to a certain degree, it never prevented it. My face, mostly my jaw and chin and part of my cheeks were still full of cystic acne. I think basically it just cleared my forehead and nose. When I started the regimen last January, I didn't think it would do much, but it got me clear. Loving my skin right now and I've been thinking that MAYBE I can go off the birth control. I'm pretty sure have BCP in the system for long amounts of time can never be great but I'm just sort of freaked out that my acne might come back in full force even though I am still on Dan's regimen. Any advice from BCP user who weaned of them? Any regimen users with the same issue? Were you guys on any particular skin care regimen that didn't make your acne come back? Really interested in knowing. Thinking of replacing the BCP with supplements similar to Dan's. Fish oil, Vit D and Zinc. Any thoughts?
  21. Has anyone had any experience breaking out while switching birth control? I was on Diane 35 previously and then switch to Ortho in January. Currently on my second pack of Ortho and I have like 3 annoying cysts by my chin. Since I didn't break out during my first month on Ortho, is it good to assume this isn't birth control related?
  22. Hello members, I am a newly registered member of this website, although I have been a frequent anonymous browser over the past few years, I just now decided to actually create an account. I am a 21 y/o female with moderate/severe cystic acne. I am one of those people who had normal breakouts during my teen years. I never felt that I had bad skin and never imagined that my skin would do a complete 180 on me when I turned 20. The main problem is the cystic acne, especially before periods. I don't mean I get one or two. Before my last period I got nearly 10, yes TEN cysts pop up on my face before my cycle. They hurt like hell. Anyway I finally made an appointment with a derm, and she was really pushing Accutane. Of course I wanted to try other options first, so I am on 100mg Doxycyline twice daily as well as Duac in the morning, Epiduo before bed, and a sulfur wash called Prascion twice daily. It has only been three weeks, and I have seen some improvement, many of the cysts are gone completely down and some are still there just not as inflamed and painful. However, I have developed a couple of new cysts, small ones that are not as painful. Anyway, so l have been reading up on Accutane and looking at people's fabulous results in the gallery and I think I am ready to give it a go. The problem is the birth control requirement for the iPledge program... When I was 17, I broke my femur bone while playing softball (just landed on it, it snapped.. some kind of freak accident) Following the surgery, the doctor discovered I had developed a pulmonary embolism. I was also taking an oral contraceptive at the time. Since then, I have not taken any form of hormonal birth control. Derm and OBGYN both say that they I should be fine taking it due to the fact that the embolism developed following the orthopedic fracture. However, my primary care physician said that no one can guarantee that I will be completely safe, that even though there is risk for any woman on a BCP, I would be in a higher risk bracket because of that incidence. And she said just because it developed after the femur injury, we do not know what effect me being on the BCP had on the development of the embolism. It makes sense. Almost every primary birth control method approved for iPledge has the warning about blood clots, etc. The only two that I noticed that did not, were the non-hormonal copper IUD and the single hormone shot. I don't feel comfortable about an IUD and one of the warnings with the single hormone shot is that it may cause bone loss or weakening bones... I really need that, huh? Whatever method I choose I will only need for about 8 mos. (1 month before treatment, the approx. 6 mos. of treatment, and the 1 mo. following treatment.) I don't know if it would be ok to just take an oral contraceptive for that short amount of time... Would that make my body go crazy to be on them for 8 mos and then just stop again?? Are the chances of developing clots significantly higher for women who take the pill for longer periods of time versus for less than a year like I would be taking it? Any input or recommendations is greatly appreciated.

    Pcos And Acne

Hi everyone! I'm a 24-year-old female confirmed with PCOS just this year through ultrasound. I have irregular menses and acne, as well. I'm not overweight; perhaps even underweight. I was wondering if Accutane would work for me to cure my acne though this is caused by PCOS. I took Accutane for 7 mos. last year, but just after 2 mos., my acne started coming back. I was desperate that I tried taking Althea(self-medicate) before I was even diagnosed with PCOS. It made my skin worse than it was. I started having acne around my jaw and neck, places I never really broke out. Plus, I got cystic acne here and then which never really happened to me before. At first I thought it was okay like a purging process since the same thing happened to me during Accutane, but two online doctors told me that Althea doesn't make skin worse before better, so they advised me to stop taking the pill. I went to a gynecologist, and she prescribed me to take Yaz. I haven't started yet since I still don't have my period. Anyone here who had clear skin because of Yaz, and what should I be expecting while on this pill? And also, will it be a good option for me to take a second course of Accutane in case Yaz will just be a temporary solution? Thank you!
  25. Hey all! I had been on Sronyx (Alesse) for the past 3-4 months, and my acne wasn't doing so well. I've also been on the Regimen for 5 weeks, but I want to try to battle my acne hormonally. I talked to my gyno, and he switched me over to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, which has fewer androgen levels (acne-aggravator). I've been on this pill for about a week, and I've noticed my skin's changing a little bit. My forehead did break out, but it cleared quickly. I seem to have a few more bumps under my cheeks (problem area) than I usually do, but they're not painful or inflamed. Some of them turn into a small whitehead, others never form and go away. Is this a normal "initial breakout" type of experience? I know I need to wait 3 months, but when will I know whether this birth control is helping or hurting? Will my skin get worse? Just some curiosity. Thanks!
