    Cystic Acne And Hormones

I wanted to wait awhile before I posted my experience with stopping my birth control pill and my acne. I had tried numerous dietary changes to try to fix my cystic acne, some showed a little promise (avoiding caffeine) but nothing was stopping the cystic/nodular acne completely. I stopped taking my birth control pill may 20th, it's July 27th now, so nearly 2 months later and I have not had a cyst since stopping. Amazing. Still dealing with hyperpigmentation but I've had 2 normal periods as well
  2. DAY 16 update. So the combination of YAZ and Spironolactone has resulted in my period being extended to the current 15th day. My menstrual cycle is usually painful, heavy, and lasts around 5 days. (So heavy that I have to go for iron infusions at the hospital.) Presently, my bleeding has ranged between light/medium. The combination of starting the birth control pill again (after a long while) along with spironolactone has resulted in my hormones going slightly unhinged. While my hormones are s
  3. Hi, I feel like I should share a positive message here. Ok, I started birth control when I was 20, Yasmin. Never had acne before except a random pimple during my period. At 27 I decided to stop taking birth control, I stopped cold turkey and a month later I had the worse acne of my life, my jaws were covered with painful pimples. It was so bad my confidence took a huge fall... I thought it would get better but after a year, no real improvement so I gave in and took the pill again. Now here
  4. Hey guys, I need some skincare advice as I am extremely upset with my complexion. I have always had clear skin up until March this year when I broke out massively, at the age of 22, I am talking twenty plus spots not one or two! Due to having anorexia for six years, I have never really had my periods regularly and I am still having them rather infrequently. I went straight to the doctors and I had blood tests done. My vitamins were all fine and my liver/gut both came back healthy however my
  5. Wondering if anyone can help me.. I have been on Yasmin for nearly 8 months for birth control and to help with acne. However, when I recently went to get another pack of pills, they told me Yasmin is now called Lucette. After some research I found out that Lucette is actually a completely different pill that has the same active ingredients as Yasmin but is much cheaper to produce and therefore more cost effective for the NHS. At first I was annoyed that I was lied to by the doctor, but I'm willi
  6. So far, DAY 13 hasn't been great. I'm getting cystic acne in places I usually never have to worry about. For the past 2-3 days I've had a small/medium cysts growing on my forehead, hairline area and on my nose(!!it's big and red!!). Places I rarely have acne ffs! I think my hormones are trying to find middle ground (at least I hope) because YAZ has extended my period to 12 days. I will wait for my hormones to return from war. I've also started doing LED blue/red light therapy twice a week at

    10 days with Diane-35

It´s soon to post big changes. I´ve only been 10 days with it! The only thing i started to notice is a headache coming out of nowhere... hope it´ll go away soon. And i think i´m gaining weight? I´m in good shape, and i do exercise often but... it´s just my feeling about it! I will continue posting. Thanks for reading! (Also, for the acne, i´m taking Treclinac, a topical form of antibiotic and vitamin A that my derm prescribed me... it worked amazing on my skin! I use it at night. The only bad

    Has anyone tried Vitamin A?

Hey everyone! I've been dealing with moderate acne for about 8 months since quitting the birth control pill. I've tried A LOT of over the counter and prescription medications/treatments to try to get my skin clear again. I've come across a lot of information about taking vitamin A to treat acne. Has anyone had any success? I understand that because vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, it is possible to take too much... And over time you can develop liver damage. So I'm making sure to be extremel
  9. Hi gang! My background: Lurker for close to 10 years, almost as long as I have had acne. I am a mid-20s college student raising a sibling. In other words, I have no time. I want to look presentable, though. This is why clearing my skin naturally is so important to me. I also don't wear makeup.. so it's magnifies the issue. I'm a hard INTJ, if you dig MBTI. That means I'm typically anxious and tense, which I'm sure is a big part of my acne. BCP (Yasmin) cleared my skin in my teens. Went

    Going off the pill acne

Hello beautiful people! I am Jennifer, a 21 year old girl from Hong Kong. I started having really oily skin and developing mild acne about a year ago after I took the plan B pills. The acne was not too severe but was enough to destroy my self esteem. Then two months ago I finally decided to try going on birth control pills because I have heard so many wonderful stories about how they clear up people's acne. During the months when I took the pills, I also started using the treatment of Acne.org.
  11. Hi! I've FINALLY decided to try the acne.org regimen and I'm starting my log today on DAY 1: Instructions: I know we are bombarded with information and sometimes, it takes too long to find what we are looking for. So here is what I will do: To make it easy for everyone to read my log, I will always post in purple, so you know it's me writting. Also, I vow to update this log multiple times a week. I will always include my emotion for the time of post. If I'm clearing it will be a smiley face.

Why Didn't I Do This Sooner?

So i'm sitting here with a bunch of moisturizer on my face feeling super sexy because my skin is looking DAMN GOOD. All jokes aside, i'm honestly wondering why I didn't go to a doctor to get anything prescription until now. My acne was never serious, but it was worse than mild. I'd say it was in the moderate/mild range depending on what I was doing to it at the time. I struggled for years with bad skin. I had to wear makeup at all times- NO ONE got to see me without makeup (not my parents, n
  13. Hey ladies, I have some interesting information for you! Your doctor probably warned you about Accutane possibly causing/triggering depression or anxiety, I know mine did. Of course, the rate of this occurring is actually about 1%, so it's pretty uncommon. And yet, maybe you're feeling like you are one of the unlucky few that has fallen into this category. Just bad luck, right? The problem is, however, that doctors often don't tell you that hormonal birth control can cause these side eff
  14. This is more a general curiosity than a call for advice really. A lot of hormonal acne sufferers have found relief and clear skin from using the birth co trol pill diane 35 (which im pretty aure here in the u.k. we call dianette). This was the first thing my doctor gave me when i went to him about my skin....however it made my acne TEN times worse. Cystic and painful and like ive never seen before. I was 16. I stayed on it for six months before switching to yaz which also didnt help but wasnt as
  15. Today marks a new chapter in my acne journey with PCOS. I have found this forum incredibly helpful throughout my decision-making/research process and would like to contribute as well. Let's call this a little experiment shall we... To begin, a bit of backstory: I started getting acne when I was seventeen years old due to fluctuating hormones and diet (isolated to my forehead thankfully). However, upon cleaning up my diet by eliminating processed junk foods and sugar, I was fine in a year or so
  16. Feeling GREAT about my skin... finally! My derm and my doctor both said to let the spiro work for 3 months and then reevaluate my progress once my body and hormones have been able to adjust. At this point, this is the best my skin has looked in years. I'm absolutely amazed. There's not even one spot underneath my skin -- before I would have cysts forming every few days that I could feel when I washed my face. And now my entire face feels smooth. I went through some ups and downs, and I think it

My Journey With Acne (Mild) [2]

Hey y'all So today is day three using the Acne.org regimen. There's a slight difference since yesterday - not much, but it's still there. The biggest change I noticed was between days one and two of using The Regimen. When I reach day seven I hope to up the dose of benzoyl peroxide. My goal is to be clear in three weeks. But I know these things take time and I don't want to jinx them, so I'll just say I hope to be clear in a month - if not, i'll persevere. I really do find it difficult to li

    Dianette And Hormonal Acne

Hi I have a question as im very confused about my skin... My skin is like 99% clear on the dianette pill(on it for about 12 months) but the week before I get my period my face, mainly my chin and the sides of chin(upper jawline kinda area), are covered in acne. I hateeee it and never had period breakouts that bad before the pill. Anyways I wanna come off the pill but I'm worried my acne will return 24/7 and not just mid to end of cycle. I thought dianette was suppose to control hormonal acn

  21. Hello everybody! I made this topic to talk about my skin improvement after starting taking Yasmin BCP. I started to have acne about march of this year (2018) when I stopped BCP and started taking some psychiatric stuff to control physical issues related to stress. I started to get very sad and I looked for a dermatologist asap. I tried everything: spironolactone, topic retinoids, natural stuff and a lot of different types of BCP's; my exams were alright and even so my dermatologist insisted on t

    Day 4

I took my 4th pill today. The closed comedone rash I had on my inner right cheek from Spiro is now more prominent and pinkish...it's purging, I guess. Some were inflamed near my ear/outer cheek the other day and cleared, now it's slowly moving inward. Depressing, but there is nothing I can do. I'll pay close attention to how my skin progresses to make sure no actual brand new spots are forming from Sprintec. I'm going to use Bentonite clay and hopefully these inflamed cc's will be calmed down by
