  1. Hi, I am 15 years old and suffer from acne. I have started my skincare routine which is made up of African black soap, a pore unclogging face scrub that contains sacrylic acid, a toner, and a moisturizer which is just cocoa butter. after these products, i apply benzoyl peroxide and go to sleep. I am on day 3 of this routine and am noticing my skin is very very dry throughout the day. I lather lotion and it dries up 20 minutes later. I'm experiencing a lot of skin flaking, occasional burning, and
  2. Hey everyone! It's been about 3 years since my last post and I must say my face is looking way better! I get small breakouts here and there but I haven't had any full blown painful as hell clusters in ages! I mostly owe that too being very strict with my face cleaning habits and the products I use. Sadly I still haven't found the perfect face wash, toner and moisturizer system but I make do with the random ones I purchase. I use the Mia 2 now and it really helps get every bit of makeup off my
  3. This morning, I woke up to no new forming pimples, and even better, diminished whiteheads. I was so pleased to see that the popped whiteheads from yesterday healed pretty well, and it doesn't look like they'll be coming back. Thank goodness. The papule near my nose has also shrunk a bit, which is great. I just want to be able to wear makeup today without looking like a bumpy toad. My skin is still extremely dry and flaky, but I'm proud of this progress! This is one of those days on the
  4. Okay. I just need to vent a little here. I apologize in advance. WHY is my skin doing this? The initial clearing was absolutely a tease. There's this decently-sized red bump on my cheek and whiteheads on both my forehead and cheeks. This is so uncool. I have to admit that yes, my skin is getting less inflamed and these breakouts will heal like the rest, but goodness this is saddening. Especially without the aid of face makeup. I can't stop looking at my skin. Look at my photo
  5. Alright. Dan's products come in about a day or two, and I'm ready to start this. I've tried pretty much everything. I've wasted (or not wasted, because at least I know they don't work!) tons of money on products and procedures that have never made my acne go away. It's only been almost a year, but I know that I shouldn't have to wait that long to have clear skin again. I can do this. I just have to be persistent, and stop torturing my skin with new products and treatments. It's insa
  6. Most people out there have acne that's nice enough to dry up on its own with or without acne treatment. A couple of years ago, I just started getting these ridiculously stubborn clogged pores that will never go away no matter what I put on my skin. Also, nothing can prevent them from forming. They are extremely deep and they become inflamed spontaneously. The plugs that I get are huge, solid plugs that are like splinters. People tell me not to squeeze them but if I don't squeeze them out, they w
  7. I am happy to report that since my last post I have had no MAJOR picking sessions...I am still breaking out all on my forehead and have been compelled to do some damage control but overall I've not felt the need to lock myself in the house for the next week whilst it settles down...huh in fairness I did go to town on a spot on the side of my head and it's very red, very scabby and hard to cover, which makes me realise that I'm more affected by my acne depending on where it is on my face...if the
  8. Still not a lot to tell - which is a good thing! It's been a week since I had a new spot, and that one is still a lump which has not come to a head. I don't think it's going to either. The two spots from before are more or less flat now, but still in the process of healing, but with make-up, there are hidden fairly well. I am still using UltraClear on the spotty side of my chin and BP on the clear (but blemish prone) areas. I think the U/C is the best to use on the spots themselves. Not only doe
  9. Yesterday I thought that maybe one of the small spots from a few weeks ago was trying to make a resurgence, but wasn't too sure. Last night it was definitely a bit swollen - gah!!! I slathered BP on it and the rest of the left side of my chin. The right side seems to be a little bit more under control, but the left side seems always on the verge of a new breakout. I guess it's only been 16 days since I started using BP twice a day, hopefully I just need to persevere. This morning it doesn't seem
  10. Ok, well you probably know why I'm here, I have acne. Terrible acne. And being a nearly 16 year old girl, I have enough to be dealing with without worrying about people judging me because of my skin...I have horrible red cysts literally covering my cheeks and chin, and all along the sides of my face ,and the marks from them don't go away... so I thought I'd make a blog here so people who are going through the same thing can read it, as none of my friends have acne to my extent, and I feel so alo
  11. Yesterday I took the plunge and posted here for the first time. Acne (however mild) has been 'my secret' for about a year now. I realize people know I have it, but I don't talk about it to others and they don't mention it to me. First of all i'd like to mention the help I've recieved from this website. By reading what Dan has to say and what other memebers have had to say, has really helped me a lot - you guys are so knowledgeable. All I can say is thank the lord one of us is, I still have a
  12. All over the internet, I have seen a lot of buzz around benzoyl peroxide. about 5 or 6 months ago I was using a 10% benzoyl peroxide soap that I had purchased a while back. At first, I found that it actually helped, and I used the bar on my face and body. However, last summer, while using the soap bar, I noticed some redness along the sides and around my nose. Thinking that everything was normal and I was washing my face too much, I continued using the soap. Huge mistake. Some time after, treme
  13. So I have almost reached my first week on the acne.org regimen, and I've done research on what to expect on the first week, which includes excessive drying and burning sensations when bp is applied. However, I have not experienced the excessive drying that everyone seems to be talking about nor have I experienced the sting once i apply bp. My face itches once in awhile and only a little bit of drying. I'm on my 5th day and i have already been using one full pump of bp night and day..maybe even a
  14. Hello. Curious to see what others were prescribed/advised these two and how you apply them. My doc said differin during the morning every 3 days and benzaclin each night. I had irritation from benzaclin on night 3 but figured that I might've used too much too fast. Because of this I did not start differin yet. I ceased use immediately. I have been using Neutrogena's BP clear pore wash for 10+ years and never had a problem, so I'm assuming that the concentration was too high for something I wasn'
  15. Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  16. Hello, I have been using my BenzePro emollient foam (BP 5.3%) on my face every night to treat my mild adult acne since February, and it has been working very well. However, the last 4 nights I’ve been away from home and have come home late and have accidentally skipped my nightly treatment each time. On the box of the product, it says to take the missed dose as soon as you remember. My skin has only developed one pimple in the last 4 days, but I am worried that when I use it again my skin
  17. Hi. I was on accutane 30mg daily and my last dose of it was 4 months ago. I don't have ANY acne and my face was so clear for last 6-7 month. But a week ago, I get 3-4 small acne, and I used Benzoyl Peroxide %5 on them for 4-5 days. They completely disappeared. I was so happy. I wanted to dermaroll my skin with my 1.0 dermaroller. I done dermarolling 4-5?times before, and even I was on accutane, but everytime I done it, my face gets a bit red, then, it will go away in 2-5 hours. If it was ver
  18. So I was almost clear, literally 2 pimples away. My usual 2% salicylic acid wasn't working, so I decided to try benzoyl peroxide. I had tried it before with 5% and it had no result so I got 10% this time. It got rid of the pimples I wanted it to, but now I'm breaking out in a bunch of tiny ones on the left side of my forehead! There are also ab few big ones that are almost the size of mosquito bites! School starts again in 3 days! How do I get rid of this??
  19. Hi all, I've been using 5% BP now for about a year, but only realised a month or 2 ago that you need to apply it all over the skin and not just pinpoint onto spots (wish I'd known sooner!) Anyway, the reason for using 5% is that this is the most readily available BP cream I can get in the UK. I use a gentle cleanser and then a salicylic acid wash morning and night and BP in the evenings only and then cetaphil moituriser. Basically I've been trying to re-create the regimen but have seen no over
  20. Whenever I apply Cerave + 4-5 drops of jojoba oil after bp, the bp immediately clumps up, turns white, and is just super hard to rub all over my skin. Whenever I mix in AHA+ with the Cerave and jojoba oil, however, this doesn't happen and everything goes on smoothly. Does anybody have any advice to stop clumping and/or an explanation of why AHA+ doesn't cause clumping?
  21. i have this really bright red pimple at the tip of my nose. it has no head and is sort of painful. i tried popping it but nothing came out. unfortunately, going to a dermatologist isn't an option:( what can i do to get rid of this horrible pimple? it's so annoying and sooooo hard to cover up:( from what i've read, i think i have a blind pimple. i've seen some websites saying tea tree oil, benzoyl peroxide, or hot water will help. what will get this out the quickest? thank you.
  22. So I used to have mild-Moderate acne. (Since i was 14 yo). I think it's pretty genetic since my mum had it too. Didn't really care about it until I was 17, and went to a derm 6 months back who put me on BP. Been using BP since 4-5 months and has cleared me up close to completely except PIH and a few skin colored bumps. Then, I went for a follow up around 2 weeks back, and he told me to stop using all products and put me on Adaplene (Differin). Oh, and he also prescribe me a Salicylic acid 2% wa
  23. Can someone please help me figure out what the heck happened to my skin? Because it is bad right now. And I mean really bad. Compared to how I once was, at least. I've been on the regimen for four weeks now (actually, was) and unfortunately my acne took a turn for the worse. I had to stop cold turkey because I cannot handle this level of "purging". (If that's what it even was.) I may have started the regimen too fast, because I was already using two full pumps. But I thought my skin could handle
  24. Hey, I'm very confused! I started using accutane almost 2 weeks ago, but due to some very annoying factors regarding ipledge, my pharmacy, and my insurance company, I only have 5 more pills to last me until August 9th (Yeah I know, shoulda gotten 30 days, blah blah blah). Now I'm on a new dosage schedule so that it gets into my system at least somewhat consistently until my next appointment. However, when my dad called my dermatologist's office earlier today (dunno why), my doctor's assi
