  1. How to Clear Open Comedones (Blackheads)

Blackheads are brown- or black-colored clogged pores that mainly form on the face, but can also be found on the neck, back, shoulders, chest, and upper arms. Dermatologists classify blackheads as "non-inflammatory" acne lesions because they are not red, swollen, or painful. Blackheads form when microscopic hair follicles (pores) become partially clogged by skin cells and skin oil, called sebum. Because the pore is only partially blocked, it remains open to the surface of the skin...
  2. What Is a Draining Sinus?

Formation of a Draining Sinus What Causes Draining Sinuses? Treatment Options for Draining Sinuses Draining sinuses are extra-large acne lesions that develop when multiple acne cysts merge to form one huge, inflammatory lesion. They appear as raised, red, soft bumps around 2-5 centimeters long that occasionally leak pus. They tend to be elongated in shape, whereas single acne cysts are usually are more circular. Draining sinuses most commonly arise on the face, near the nasolabial...

Definition Incidence Causes Symptoms Treatment Side Effects Summary Definition Pyoderma faciale, also known as rosacea fulminans, is a rare, severe form of acne occurring exclusively in females. 4. Alright, I bought and used the acne.org treatment last year in August. My acne did clear up on my cheeks a bit and I was starting to see results but I stopped the treatment around November due to running out of the cleanser and i was sick of my skin been itchy, red and very flakey, especially when i was doing sports and all the moistorieser would come off. My skin still didn't like the benzoyl peroxide even after 2 months of using it, shouldn't my skin be used to it by then??. The moisturizer al
  5. How Does Benzoyl Peroxide Work in the Skin?

Benzoyl peroxide was first used in agriculture and industry. In 1929, physicians discovered that it could be used as a topical treatment for wounds and burns. In 1934, the researchers Lyon and Reynolds found that it was an effective treatment for a case of acne, however it was not until the 1960s that physicians began using it as a regular treatment for acne patients. Now, 60 or so years later, benzoyl peroxide is used as...
  6. Hello I have been using Benzoyl peroxide since one month and have now stopped using it. How long should I wait before going out in sun again without any sunscreen, as any type of sunscreen breaks me out.
  7. I am finally clearing up with Minocycline 100mg prescription and benzoyl peroxide 5%. Been using it for a month both together and its starting to show. The problem is I have horrible red marks all over my face (not scars but reddish even blueish marks) and I know aloe vera really helps with this. My question is how should I implement it into my daily routine? In the morning i wash my face with a light cleanser then put on benzoyl peroxide and leave it for 10 minutes, after that I wash it off and
  8. Hello,I pray that you all are feeling well today!I love Acne.org and have been using it since July 2018. It has been the only product to consistently clear my acne! However, I have one concern. When I apply the second step (benzoyl peroxide), the fumes always burn my eyes (I am diligent about not applying it too close to my eyes). Previously, I read that I may just have to get used to using the product, but I've been using it daily (in the mornings) since October 2018 with no relief. The burning

  10. Hi, I am 15 years old and suffer from acne. I have started my skincare routine which is made up of African black soap, a pore unclogging face scrub that contains sacrylic acid, a toner, and a moisturizer which is just cocoa butter. after these products, i apply benzoyl peroxide and go to sleep. I am on day 3 of this routine and am noticing my skin is very very dry throughout the day. I lather lotion and it dries up 20 minutes later. I'm experiencing a lot of skin flaking, occasional burning, and
  11. I have started using the Regimen consistently about one and a half week ago. I follow the instructions precisely. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing some (known) side-effects of the benzoyl peroxide. Using the Cleanser? No problems at all! However, when I apply the benzoyl peroxide on my skin, it starts to burn/sting after some seconds. This is an unpleasant but manageable feeling and it is supposed to dissappear after my skin gets used to benzoyl peroxide, so I hope it does... When the
  12. My benzoyl peroxide seems to be "caking" on my skin. When I rub my finger on my skin after application, a TON of the cream seems to come off. I thought my skin was just dry, but after some experimenting I realized that the product is the culprit. Anyone have any good suggestions for other BPs that don't cake on when you leave it on your skin?
  13. Most people out there have acne that's nice enough to dry up on its own with or without acne treatment. A couple of years ago, I just started getting these ridiculously stubborn clogged pores that will never go away no matter what I put on my skin. Also, nothing can prevent them from forming. They are extremely deep and they become inflamed spontaneously. The plugs that I get are huge, solid plugs that are like splinters. People tell me not to squeeze them but if I don't squeeze them out, they w
  14. hi! i am new here. i have a HORRIBLE CASE of acne due to PCOS and nothing seems to work. i just started on birth control pills for my PCOS and hopefully it will work on my acne as well. and recently, i have started using BENZOYL PEROXIDE (BENZAC AC 5%). it has been a week and a half and yea, it helps dry out my pimples (but there are still new popping pimples) and i am grateful because the situation has improved even for a bit. but it really makes my skin dry but nothing that couldnt be helped w
  15. Back in April I stopped using BP... like many others, I read up about long term affects of using it and how it can be damaging to your skin. Well, I regret it. Looking back, that’s when my skin started acting up. What’s damaging to your skin is acne. Shortly after weaning myself of BP, I broke out into a million closed comedones. Miserable. After much distress I went back to BP. The purging stage is REAL OMG. Almost all of the CC have turned into big, red inflamed pimples and some cysts. My face
  16. I’m in the week 2 of the regimen. I’m really scared because when I put the benzoyl peroxide on my skin I feel my skin burning and really irritated (this happens while applying it no after). I wonder if it’s normal... PLEASE HELP
  17. Hey, so I've been using BPO since about 3 months now and my skin is not completly clear but its getting there. I've been using Cetaphil as a moisturizer and my skin hasnt been dry because of it, but recently i went swimming and noticed that my skin gets dry and flaky after taking a swim which is not only uncomfortable but also kinda embarassing, so i wanted to ask if there is anything i could do about that? Like maybe there are other moisturizers that wont come off? Thanks ahead!
  18. A little while ago I had a huge breakout all over my face. I only ever get cystic pimples, no only one or two at a time on my cheeks, but I had breakouts all over the place. I ended up getting my period a week later and the breakouts slowly calmed down a little, down this time I was seeing my breakouts leave red marks that last a while. Fast forward to now. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me minocycline 100mg twice a day, clindamycin, and told me to get a benzoyl perox
  19. So what happened was that I stopped using my benzoyl peroxide lotion a couple months ago. Also a bunch of stress happened, overdried my skin, so I broke out. I ended up getting a TON of closed comedones. And a few cysts! This week I started using my benzoyl peroxide again. There is now less closed comedones but a few large pimples where most of the closed comedones are around. I’ve used benzoyl peroxide before with great results, but I don’t know if I remember my face purging. Not used to this c
  20. I've been on the Acne.org regimen for over a year now and it has helped me a lot. Currently my skin has turned worse again so I'm using more of BP to counter the acne. That lead to my skin getting very dry and flaky again. I'm wondering how much I can and should counter this by moisturizing more. In the Acne.org description it says "Benzoyl peroxide has a drying and peeling effect which is thought to help prevent this occurence and tends to transform red or ruddy, irritated looking skin into ba
  21. so maybe like two weeks ago i applied benzoyl peroxide 10% to my cheeks and under my jaw ,at first i thought it was working on my mild acne i had maybe like 5 zits on my face ,i also had a bunch of little bumbs ,i stopped using it because i noticed it made me break out and two weeks later i have pustules and whiteheads all over my face and it seems to get worse everyday ,i dont know what to do,someone please help me !has this happened to anyone else?
  22. The best my skin ever does - regardless of diet, vitamin supplements, etc... is when I’m using benzoyl peroxide. I have been on accutane, all of the antibiotics, birth control pills, supplements (some of which I do believe help), and of course all the millions of acne products. Recently, my skin was doing so well I thought maybe I didn’t need benzoyl peroxide anymore. I started feeling concerned about putting the chemicals on my face etc... and wanted to try a more natural approach with vitamins
  23. Hi everyone, I bit about myself. I am 37 years old male and I have been battling with moderate back acne for the past 20 years. I was taking doxycycline for about 18 months about 5 years ago and it worked remarkably well, I was also applying duac lotion after showers as well. About 3-4 months after I stopped taking doxycycline the acne came back with a vengeance. I Tried during the years a wide variety of lotions, gels an etc for acne with moderate success at best. Couple of y
  24. I have been on the regimen since March 11th and I'm confused because initially I had bad breakouts on my cheeks. That cleared up very well with the treatment in the first month then I began using AHA+ on April 11th. I loved the results I saw from the AHA as well, but Around April 17th I noticed tiny bumps popping up on only 1 side of my nose and they progressed to both sides and actual nose as the weeks went by. I wasn't sure what was causing it and thought maybe I wasn't cleaning well enough si
  25. Thought I'd update again as it's been awhile. It's been 15 months (next week) since I finished my last course of lymecycline. I have been keeping my skin clear with nightly use of benzoyl peroxide (Benzac AC 2.5% which I have to buy from either eBay or Amazon since it's not available in UK shops for some reason). I still don't eat much dairy, I use almond milk on my cereal instead (but I still eat some dairy, I love cheese too much to never eat it!) but no longer take any supplements or ACV.
