    First Week On The Regimen

So I have almost reached my first week on the acne.org regimen, and I've done research on what to expect on the first week, which includes excessive drying and burning sensations when bp is applied. However, I have not experienced the excessive drying that everyone seems to be talking about nor have I experienced the sting once i apply bp. My face itches once in awhile and only a little bit of drying. I'm on my 5th day and i have already been using one full pump of bp night and day..maybe even a

    Day 8

Making this blog to vent my feelings. Prior to this current treatment tried doxycycline for 2 months with no improvement - since then my skin has gotten worse. anyway, currently on lymecycline. Tried this one when I was 17 (22 now) so hoping it will work the second time. currently, my skin is awful - the acne was initially concentrated on just my right cheese/jawline but has since break to my left jawline. Woke up today with a bit on my forehead - first one I've had there in months. I'm
  3. I've been using retin-a 0.05% until 6 weeks ago, but nothing has changed. Still a lot of red marks (that is the most important problem to solve, because I have 90% red marks) and still some occasional pimples. I'm not using Benzoyl peroxide 5% anymore (it's the second weeks that I don't use it) because maybe it could prolong red marks. I still use Benzoyl peroxide 1% cleanser to wash my face the morning and the night. I apply the moisturizer once a day (bioderma's sebium hydra). I'm asking my

    Merry Christmas

Just a quick update here. Still not a whole lot to say - no new spots which probably means the antibiotics are starting to work. However, those two big spots between my mouth and nose are actually four. Four! WTF My skin is really dry though I am trying to keep it moisturised. I am no longer using BP all over my problem area because I know the antibiotics should take care of that. I still need to make an appointment for the New Year to get a dermatologist referral... So...yes, slightly

    Minocycline, Help!

Hello, I have a few questions about Minocycline and some other things about my acne. Right now I am 16, i've had acne since about age 14. I don't have severe acne by any means, but mild acne. About three months ago I went to the doctor and asked for some sort of medication to help kill the acne. I was perscribed Benzoyl Peroxide 10% cream, and Clindamycin 1% gel. Right when i woke up in the morning I would put on the Clindamycin gel and right before i went to bed i would put on the Benzoyl Perox

    2 months on differin

2 months on my regimen! My skin felt smoother and improved 50 %! My mom even commented on my progress. Though to be honest i still feel insecure, mainly due to hyperpigmentation. Most prominent after face washing, but 1 hour later my face looks dewy and almost close to being clear (i dunno if optical illusion or something). And i still do get 2 or 4 small pimples a week, which resolves within 2 to 3 days with bp (spot treatment) and differin (whole face) ONLY at night. Well thats expected from w

    Day 26

Still not a lot to tell - which is a good thing! It's been a week since I had a new spot, and that one is still a lump which has not come to a head. I don't think it's going to either. The two spots from before are more or less flat now, but still in the process of healing, but with make-up, there are hidden fairly well. I am still using UltraClear on the spotty side of my chin and BP on the clear (but blemish prone) areas. I think the U/C is the best to use on the spots themselves. Not only doe

    Onwards And...onwards

I am happy to report that since my last post I have had no MAJOR picking sessions...I am still breaking out all on my forehead and have been compelled to do some damage control but overall I've not felt the need to lock myself in the house for the next week whilst it settles down...huh in fairness I did go to town on a spot on the side of my head and it's very red, very scabby and hard to cover, which makes me realise that I'm more affected by my acne depending on where it is on my face...if the

My Journey With Acne (Mild) [1]

Yesterday I took the plunge and posted here for the first time. Acne (however mild) has been 'my secret' for about a year now. I realize people know I have it, but I don't talk about it to others and they don't mention it to me. First of all i'd like to mention the help I've recieved from this website. By reading what Dan has to say and what other memebers have had to say, has really helped me a lot - you guys are so knowledgeable. All I can say is thank the lord one of us is, I still have a

    Day 16

Yesterday I thought that maybe one of the small spots from a few weeks ago was trying to make a resurgence, but wasn't too sure. Last night it was definitely a bit swollen - gah!!! I slathered BP on it and the rest of the left side of my chin. The right side seems to be a little bit more under control, but the left side seems always on the verge of a new breakout. I guess it's only been 16 days since I started using BP twice a day, hopefully I just need to persevere. This morning it doesn't seem

    Day 18: The Flaky Feat

This morning, I woke up to no new forming pimples, and even better, diminished whiteheads. I was so pleased to see that the popped whiteheads from yesterday healed pretty well, and it doesn't look like they'll be coming back. Thank goodness. The papule near my nose has also shrunk a bit, which is great. I just want to be able to wear makeup today without looking like a bumpy toad. My skin is still extremely dry and flaky, but I'm proud of this progress! This is one of those days on the

    Meh...

There's not much to say today, my skin is not much better than a few days ago, it could even be a bit worse since there was another new spot on it's way by the time I started taking the antibiotics. From past experiences, I know that the antibiotics do not stop what has already started. I now have two big lumps between my mouth and nose; one of them has come to a head and is now healing, but I think there could be yet another one right next to it, which is probably why it got so huge so quickly.
  13. Summer is coming and the situation is not fine, so I decided to change my regimen for the last time. If the situation doesn't change, I will stop to use all these stupid creams. My new regimen: Every day (twice a day) I will use a Cleanser with 1% of Benzoyl Peroxide Every Morning I will apply a moisturizer (Sebium Hydra) For the nights: twice a week I will apply clindamycin 1% gel three times a week I will apply tretinoin 0.05% twice a week I will apply Sebium Global (a cream with

    Scared...

Ok, well you probably know why I'm here, I have acne. Terrible acne. And being a nearly 16 year old girl, I have enough to be dealing with without worrying about people judging me because of my skin...I have horrible red cysts literally covering my cheeks and chin, and all along the sides of my face ,and the marks from them don't go away... so I thought I'd make a blog here so people who are going through the same thing can read it, as none of my friends have acne to my extent, and I feel so alo
  15. Hey everyone! It's been about 3 years since my last post and I must say my face is looking way better! I get small breakouts here and there but I haven't had any full blown painful as hell clusters in ages! I mostly owe that too being very strict with my face cleaning habits and the products I use. Sadly I still haven't found the perfect face wash, toner and moisturizer system but I make do with the random ones I purchase. I use the Mia 2 now and it really helps get every bit of makeup off my

How Benzoyl Peroxide Ruined My Face

All over the internet, I have seen a lot of buzz around benzoyl peroxide. about 5 or 6 months ago I was using a 10% benzoyl peroxide soap that I had purchased a while back. At first, I found that it actually helped, and I used the bar on my face and body. However, last summer, while using the soap bar, I noticed some redness along the sides and around my nose. Thinking that everything was normal and I was washing my face too much, I continued using the soap. Huge mistake. Some time after, treme
  17. I'm disappointed. I don't know what I should do to defeat acne. It's the 7th week of Isotrex (topical isotretinoin ) in combination to Benzoyl Peroxide 10% (that I use in the morning).. I have been fighting with acne since September 2012. Now I'm annoyed. I still have breakouts , I still have red marks and red inflamed pimples and now breakouts are just happening also on the other part of my face. I'm waiting, I have been using it EVERY DAY with costance. Why my acne is still worse?? I will bo
  18. Hey everyone! So I'm doing pretty good right now (knock on wood. knock on wood. knock on wood). Summary of weeks 1,2, and almost week 3: Week 1 - Drying out. Skin shedding its top layer. Starting to get small bumps/ more zits. Week 2 - INITIAL BREAKOUT. Happened to forehead first, then in different sections of my face. Broke out on forehead, nose, chin, then right cheek, then left cheek, then chin again a bit, then right jawline, now left jawline a bit. Tons of small bumps, more zits, a

    Before It Begins...

Alright. Dan's products come in about a day or two, and I'm ready to start this. I've tried pretty much everything. I've wasted (or not wasted, because at least I know they don't work!) tons of money on products and procedures that have never made my acne go away. It's only been almost a year, but I know that I shouldn't have to wait that long to have clear skin again. I can do this. I just have to be persistent, and stop torturing my skin with new products and treatments. It's insa
  20. Okay. I just need to vent a little here. I apologize in advance. WHY is my skin doing this? The initial clearing was absolutely a tease. There's this decently-sized red bump on my cheek and whiteheads on both my forehead and cheeks. This is so uncool. I have to admit that yes, my skin is getting less inflamed and these breakouts will heal like the rest, but goodness this is saddening. Especially without the aid of face makeup. I can't stop looking at my skin. Look at my photo
  21. Today was Day 20 on Spiro (75 mg), Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl 4%), and Atralin gel, aka topical retinoid (0.05%)! Overall, things are improving My face is doing so, so much better. The pink mark on my left cheek from that stubborn zit is fading and healing. There's a small pink mark on my right cheek that's fading. And there's a bit of a red mark healing on my lower chin/jaw from a pore that purged an acne seed yesterday. Right now, my complexion looks so much better! It's mor

    Week 1-Ish

Well, I never thought that I would be posting on an acne forum...but here I am. Overview: I have had really horrible back acne for the past 3 years. I was prescribed tretinoin cream for it when it began, this always cleared it up within a month or 2. However, my current doctor decided not to prescribe me the cream and instead gave me clindamycin lotion. This didn't help (she didn't mention that I should also use BP with it...). So after a month of doing that, she put me on doxycycline. I ha

    Beginning Of Week 2

Well, obviously week 1 has been hell. My face is freaking out on the BP. I am only using it as a spot treatment, but my skin is SO sensitive anyway that in the places that I have been spot treating it has been either breaking out more or is SO exremely red that I have to wear makeup during the day so it doesn't look like I got punched in the face. I'm hoping that at least by the third week my acne will be subsiding and so will this redness, I can't take it much longer. I'm very impatient and I a
  24. At the peak of my obsession, my daily routine included scrubbing my face with Clean & Clear “Advantage Clear & Soothe Daily Scrub” and “Morning Energy, Shine Control Daily Facial Wash”, wiping my face with Clean & Clear “Shine Control Daily Facial Lotion” and Neutrogena “Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion”, moisturising with Neutrogena “Pink Grapefruit oil-free moisturiser”. Basically, if a product was in the Boots acne section, I had tried it. If it had the words “Daily” or

    Mid Week 3-Ish

Its finals week- so I wanted to go ahead and post about what is going on this week a little earlier than at the end of the 3rd week mark... back- clearing (almost completely clear besides red marks and slowly fading bumps that you can't really see, but that I can feel on my back) face- cysts are clearing, SLOWLY. So slowly. The bp is helping (still only spot treating), but I'm still getting other bumps on my face (not as bad as the cysts), so it is still not 100% clear at all. Have been
