  1. Today I went to the doctors about my skin. I ment my grandfather in the waiting room, who commented that my face was a mess. Immediately I wanted to run home and hide (any bravado I'd managed to work up going there without make up was instantly shot down). Anyways. The doctor took a look, and said that the acne wasn't going to go away on it's own without medicine. She prescirbed me an oral antibiotic and a gel for nighttime. I'm returning next week for a blood test. This might seem completel

    Day 9

So, I don't know if it is my initial breakout or if it is because I haven't been on my antibiotic for a couple of weeks now, but my skin is crazy broken out! Everyday I have sooo many whiteheads all over my chin and above my upper lip! Crazy! (and quite stressful) BUT I guess this is what happens before things get better. Only time will tell! How's everyone else out there doing on there Accutane journey?!
  3. It's been almost a month since my last entry. Unfortunately, my skin has gone worse. It has been incredibly frustrating to be in this position and I am seriously starting to get a little bit depressed. not too serious. But serious enough that I would avoid seeing anyone else but my boyfriend. It doesn't help that my family (mum especially) scrutinizes my face every single day. I remember one day we were at the dining table and for a good 20 minutes, we talked about my acne. I am on oral med
  4. Updates! My skin has been doing great and I've been picking less! I think I picked two times within the week.. and it was the same spot haha, didn't do much damage I've really kicked the habit of gluing myself to the mirror and killing my skin. I just got a renewal on my minocycline prescription but my derm said that they ran out of duac samples! D: so I might be getting the BP and the clindamycin separately within the next week..... I cant wait for that! As for pimples, I got one on my rig

    Intro

Background: I am 33 years old and have been struggling with some form of acne for as long as I can remember. I have a family history of acne on both sides. My Mother's acne was a mild form and was cystic in nature, but well managed with birth control and antibiotics. She was/is beautiful and I really never noticed she had a problem. She said it finally subsided when she went through menopause. My Father is in his 60's and still has blackheads and enlarged pores on his nose and consistently
  6. I’ve been off Accutane for 8 months with no hiccups or anything. I was used to tiny pimples that would appear once in a while and disappear the next day. However, recently I’ve started breaking out heavily again from before. I believe I am relasping as my acne from my body is back as well. Now my friend reccommended I try birth control since that was never an option my dermatologist gave me during our trial and error of acne medications. Is it wiser for me to go back on accutane?
  7. I have been dealing with acne for nearly 4 years now. It was very minimal at first and only got it sparingly but over time it has definitely escalated exponentially. I went to my family doctor to see what I could do to treat my acne. My skin type is oily, and I have semi-large pores. I do not have many blackheads at all. My main concern is acne and the red marks left behind and some slight scarring. I have tried many things from salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide and even some more natural trea

    Day 57

Hi all! I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season Since my skin was doing much better after my last Isolaz treatment, I decided to hold off on it and go in again in 4 weeks. My next Isolaz appointment is on January 11th. Although my skin is doing significantly better, unfortunately I'm still breaking out in 2-4 pustules every few weeks or so. I've noticed as soon as my old breakouts completely go away, new ones crop up and it's so annoying...!! I feel like my skin stays clear for
  9. So I've suffered with really bad acne for a long time, it was bad to the point where you could barely see any clear skin. I went to a dermatologist and she put me on 30mg accutane everyday for almost 6 months, it did wonders and completely cleared my skin (I still have a lot of scarring and get the smallest zits every now and then, but I'm just grateful most of the acne went way). My dermatologist was surprised by how fast the medicine started working on me, the side effects started on my 8
  10. Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  11. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  12. Hey guys, I’m currently on Differin 0.3% and Minocycline 100mg twice daily. I’ve been on the Differin for 3 months and the mino for less than 2 weeks. The Differin was doing absolutely nothing but ruining my skin, and the mino has helped me out a lot. BUT, I’m still getting new pimples every day, and I’m not too fond of the Minocycline. I’m looking for people who have transitioned straight from retinoids and/or Minocycline into Accutane and if you had an initial breakout? My face is FILLED w
  13. So I’ve been taking a generic form of yaz birth control continuously (meaning I take only active pills to not get a period) for a few months, and my skin has been unbelievably clear after a long struggle. Recently I had to take an antibiotic for a UTI. The antibiotic interfered with my birth control and decreased its effectiveness, which I knew because I started bleeding and continued to bleed for almost a week and half. This was about three weeks ago. Since the antibiotic and the bleeding, I h
  14. I'm 20 now and have been taking antibiotics since I was 13... Honestly feel like I've tried everything so any help appreciated. Been on Lymecycline, Erythromycin, Roaccutane for 8 months (this 100% worked but my skin got INSANELY bad before it got better and don't really want to go on that again, even if I am tempted). I've used pretty much every topical cream prescription under the sun, and have tried Kefir regime for 2 months but this didn't seem to do anything. I am currently o
  15. Hi all! I'm a 6'2'' 158lb 18 yr old male who is off to college in a week! I've suffered from mild acne since I was 16, and when it got moderate-severe I went on minocycline (100mg once a day) for 8 months WITH tretinoin 5% for topical at night or scarring. It worked...until the antibiotics wore off this past month makin my breakouts worse and worse! it may bepossible that I need to find new treatment. are here any recommendations out there??? I don't want to jump to accutane especially becaus
  16. I have been using Lymecycline antibiotics and differin for acne and soon i will no longer be able to take the Lymecycline. This really makes me worry as i am scared i will break out again. Please share any advice or past experiences below!
  17. So before accutane I had severe acne on chin and forehead. Derm put me on 2 creams and Doxyciline and my acne was completely cleared but we were already in the process of going on accutane and my derm told me i should go on it because when i stop the antibiotic it will come back. So she started me out on 60mg, and i took it for four months. I basically had maybe 1 or 2 pimples the whole treatment because i started out clear from the antibiotics. I just stopped 2 weeks ago and im so scared its go
  18. Hi I know this is unlikely since if you're clear of acne you're not likely to still be on this forum but... has anybody had any positive long long term results from using doxycycline with Duac? (Benzoyl peroxide) more so with adult acne acne as I hear this is FAR more stubborn. I have just been prescribed doxy, however all I'm seeing is people say acne comes back worse a few months after taking. Naturally this is putting me off taking it and I'm just thinking either exhaust every natur
  19. Through my most difficult times I was reading through acne.org forums and I promised myself that if I ever cleared up my acne for good I would make an account and share my story. I first started getting acne when I was 10. At first it was only a bunch of tiny bumps on my forehead that weren't noticeable until you came up close. In the following two years, it developed into severe cystic acne over my entire face but somehow it didn't get to me too much, probably since I was still quite young a
  20. Hi, I'm here to share a recipe I created for an acne treatment cream. The preparation combines two antibiotics, Oxytetracycline and Neomycin Sulfate, and Retino-A, and the best part is the antibiotics can be purchased without a doctors prescription. This is due to a loophole that allows anyone to buy veterinary grade antibiotics at your local farm & livestock supply store (I.e. Farm & Fleet, Fleet & Farm, Tractor Supply, Theisens, etc.). I'm sharing this because I believe it will hel
  21. Hey everyone, So I am going to go on a rant here. I've been analyzing others posts for a couple of years and have decided to make one which describes my personal battle with acne/perioral dermatitis. I have been dealing with this problem for a long time and I am determined to find a cure or treat myself since I cannot let this take over my life and let it affect my confidence. I know I will be able to cure myself soon and help others. I will save the emotional trauma I went through due to th
  22. From the album: My Journey through Sronyx + Acanya + Doxycycline + Yasmin (and Vi Peel) + Retin-A 0.025 + Differin 0.3% + 1% Clindamycin 5% Benzol Peroxide

It's almost been a year since I went to a dermatologist to get my acne under control, and I'm so so glad I did. Progress takes time, and it couldn't be more true than in this instance. Here's what has happened in the last few months, since there is a pretty big gap in between my last post: DOXYCYCLINE: Doxycycline, although I'm sure was helping my skin, turned out to be a killer instrument in destroying my intestines, and I'm sure my liver. I was getting what I call stomach panic attacks
  23. From the album: Week 1 Dalacin T (erythromycin)

This is me after using Differin/adapalen in combination with lymecylin for 6/7 weeks. Tonight I'll swap differin for Dalacin T
  24. Hi I was wondering if anyone that's had success with antibiotics could tell me what the first signs were that they were working. Obviously reduction in spots in general, but was there anything else? Healing faster, coming to a head sooner? Etc... TIA
  25. Just wondering whether this is generally seen as a "strong" treatment for acne or a moderate one. All responses welcome
