  1. Hi all So I've been on antibiotics for 9 months now (7 months of doxy and 2 of tetracycline) and my skin is now a lot worse than it was before I bothered to start treatment! If I slowly came off the antibiotics would my skin go back to what it was before over time or have I permanently changed it do you think? I know it would probably be different with everyone, I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it. I also started differin a month ago, which I know takes months to work, but
  2. Hi all! For 3 months I've been using Differin+Aczone and have seen little improvement. I have an appointment for the first week in August and last time I was at the derm, she suggested antibiotics if the topicals didn't work . My opnion is that antibiotics are over perscribed and by what I've read in the reviews is that it messes with your gut...? But depending on its effectivness i might consider it. Would it actually get rid of my acne? and Is it worth it? Also if this helps , I have Mo
  3. hi all......i just want 2 have an advise on which treatment i should go for my acne....i used 2 have white heads, black heads, papules, pustules, cysts and so on...i have back and chest acne too.....my face is very oily also......i think mine is hormonal acne....when i researched about hormonal acne in net, i found that the main symptoms of acne due to increased androgen hormone levels are: excessively oily skin, acne mainly in jaw line and chin, increased hair growth in face and other body part
  4. So it's week 14 and I'm still not clear. On top of that, it only got worse. My skin improved the first month I used the regimen. I stopped having huge pimples. Around week 12, I started picking on my skin thinking that removing those dry flakes on top of the acne will help it clear soon. Well, it didn't help at all. I now have acne scabs and they are swollen right now. It's like there are bumps on my face and I hate it. What can I do to heal it faster? Should I still do the regimen then dab neos
  5. Just wondering whether this is generally seen as a "strong" treatment for acne or a moderate one. All responses welcome
  6. I posted about the skin care regimen that I am currently using (as prescribed by my dermatologist) until I can get Accutane and I am absolutely loving it! My pores are much, much smaller and the dirt/ oil/ blackheads are all gone (except for a few on my nose). I don't have any new acne, just two small red marks from previous blemishes. Here's the regimen: AM -Take oral antibiotic--100 mg Minocycline -Wash face with 4% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl brand) and leave on for 15 seco

    Ziana

Hello I am 20 year old male experiencing very mild acne. I have about 4 active pimples most of the time, although they are the deep red ones that turn red and lurk forever on my skin. I also have an obsession with picking my skin, which in turn makes it worse. My derm prescribed me Ziana gel ( Clindymycin/ Tretinoin). I have used Green cream level 9 in the past, so irritation is not really a problem as my skin is used to retinol. It has been 1 week and 4 days since i have been using z

    My First Visit To Derm

My acne was back in late July and I have never been clear since then. I still have no idea why i got them. Most of them are on my chin and cheeks. In the past five months, I have tried many things to get rid of my acne. I tried dairy free, natural remedies, oil pulling and Chinese medicine. I only noticed that my chin got better but my cheeks got much much worse. Today, I just couldn't take it any more and I visited the derm this morning. He said my new breakouts were pretty bad. )'; He p
  9. Here's a pic from three days into treatment. The active blemish from Day 1 by the corner of my mouth has healed quite a bit, and I think faster than usual. On day 2 I picked at a whitehead on my cheek, which is why you see that new red mark - I know, I know. Do as I say and not as I do - don't pick! Subjectively, the red marks look lighter all over, but I don't think it's that obvious in pics. No new cysts, but still some closed comedones lurking on cheeks, jaw and neck. I will continue to updat
  10. hello everyone , so about 6 years ago ive been on accutane but my acne came back after a year.Since then ive never took any medication and just use all those natural remedies and never cleared up.So last week ive decided to meet a derm and then he prescribed me with accutane 20mg every other day(basicaaly 10mg per day) Differin clindamycin However,im a little confused as my derm told me to only apply the differin and clindamycin for spot treatment, as far as i knew, differin should be used
  11. I have been prescribed cyclimycin and benzoyl peroxide but the pharmacy only gave me Dalacin T which is cyclimycin phosphate and 1% alcohol but with no bp however the Dalacin T 1% is 1% alcohol should I follow up and ask my gp or will this be fine? Also how has this topical been for other users? Is it effective?

    Doxycycline And Tretinoin

Hi! I'm Maddie and today is day #1 of my antibiotic and tretinoin cream regimen. I currently have some pretty much healed papules on my upper back/shoulder region, many tiny whiteheads on my jawline, many blackheads on my chin and nose, healing papules on my right cheek and some unnoticable but annoying whiteheads on both cheeks, and scattered pimples on my forehead. I'm really hoping this works out because im sick of makeup! And photoshopping my skin!! Anyways, thanks for reading and I'll
  13. Hello SleepyFish here, I use to have fairly bad acne, not as bad as some, a little worse than others. Large bumps, white heads, and black heads were on my face, coming and going... Well, I had changed my diet around cutting out gluten & dairy, as well as a lot of processed foods. Replacing my old American diet with Korean food, organic fruits & vegetables. Well, my acne relatively disappeared... A pimple or two would pop up if I ate too many sweets but very manageable and I was the
  14. ive been on 2 different antibiotics and i love the results but i remember reading somewhere that you can only be on them for a certain amount of time and i know that if i get of them my acne will come back. So my question is How long are you allowed to be on antibiotics until your doctor or derm takes you off?
  15. Hello! I'm new here, but I'm a little bit desperate, and I was wondering if anybody could help me? I am a seventeen year-old female, and after suffering from acne for years I finally decided to talk to my doctor about perscription options. She perscribed Differin, which I used as directed (pea sized amount every night only on affected areas, no benzoyl peroxide). I had to stop after three weeks however, because my once-moderate acne "exploded" all over my face, and now instead of having a

    Where Is This Coming From?

Hi everyone! I'm eighteen years old and pretty acne-prone. I've usually had a sprinkling of acne on my back but not a ton. The past month or so, it got way worse. Do yall have any ideas why this would be? Some factors that have changed...I've recently stopped taking my acne antibiotic because my face is looking better. I have light acne in my face now but not severe. Also its been cold so I got a heated blanket. I know that sounds weird but it may have an effect. Also, how can I treat t
  17. Hi all! After being on antibiotics for about three months, I’m down to four 500 mg azithromycin pills. I want to wean off them and realize it would be best to do it more gradually, but getting another Rx is not an option. How should I best wean the four pills I have left? Cut in half and take one piece every 4-5 days? I've been heavy on the probiotics for over a month now, so I hope that will help quell any outbreak. I appreciate the help!

  19. Hello Acne.org I am brand new to this forum but have seen a lot of people give very great advice hence the reason I signed up. To give you a background story of myself I am a 19 year old male in university and have suffered from acne since I was 14. Between 16-17 I was on antibiotics (Doxy Cycline) and my skin was 100% clear. However I try to avoid pills and antibiotics if I can. I read that acne was caused by diet and that anitbiotics were extremely bad for your health. Now I know this
  20. Persistent patch of acne that won't go away! I've had a patch of acne that won't go away. It's very red and quite bumpy!
  21. The image shows my current left cheek. Now, I have these frustrating red marks that arent exactly pimples/not bumpy but are just sort of kind of there. Some of these are marks left by previous acne but most of them never really developed into a full sized pimple and just have been lurking there below the surface in all their annoying red faced glory. Note: they're a lot redder than by what you can tell in the picture and it really takes a toll on my confidence. So. Here's my questio
  22. Hey Everyone! So today I saw a dermatologist who prescribed me Retin-A Micro. I suffer mostly from non-inflammatory acne/closed comedones. I had a lot of whiteheads and bumps under the skin. I've been using clindoxyl, which is an antibiotic topical cream w/ benzoyl peroxide, but it doesn't seem to help much. I do get the occasional cyst, but most of the time it is my whiteheads that turn into pimples, so that is the issue I am most concerned about. I've been instructed to used this 3 t
  23. I have been on rounds of different antibiotics pretty consistently for 3 years. They would always keep me clear for about 4 to 6 months before the derm would have to prescribe me a new one. Early this year, I began breaking out again very badly and now I have lots of post acne marks and hyperpigmentation as well. The antibiotics didn't seem to be helping. After doing a lot of research, I decided I didn't want to go down the antibiotic route anymore and start supplementing with higher doses
  24. Hi there, A few months ago I was prescribed Duac to use every night and my moderate acne really did start to clear up! So much so that when the cream ran out I didn't need to get another one. ive recently broken out again (not severely) but still noticeable. And my Dr has prescribed me Duac again and also an anti biotic called Lymecycline (56 tabs over the course of a few months). I guess guess what I would like to know is, do these two products work well together and how did you find that th

    Post-Minocycline Acne?

I apologise in advance if a topic like this was already posted/discussed, but I couldn't seem to find one that I could relate to, entirely. So, I was taking 100mg Minocycline tablets, twice a day for about 6 months (I just turned 21 this year). It worked perfectly and I had no side effects, other than feeling slightly dizzy (which went away after about a few weeks). I was extremely happy with Minocycline and I've never felt more confident about my skin in my life! However...because I've turn
