  1. I'm still using the medication, and the dial soap I switched to a black soap from Boscia (But still switch them both on and off). Also I am using a good moisturizer. But I have notice big changes after I stopped using my medication amitriptyline maybe I should start taking it again, or is my body detoxing??? I could really use some advice on what to do...wait it out or continue my use of it?

    Question

QUESTION: Question for the guys out there. I know you aren't supposed to pop/pick whiteheads while on Accutane (because of scaring). But, what do you do when shaving? I have to keep a clean shaven face for work. Of course when I shave, the white heads break open...pretty gross, I know! LOL Just wondering if anyone has advice for shaving the face while on Accutane..?? PS. this Accutane journey kinda sucks..haha but hey I guess it will all be worth it! (better be!) staying positive
  3. Hi, I am new on here and with posting in general. I figured I'd just share something I tried recently that I don't see has been written about much so I thought to recommend others to consider trying what had recently helped me primarily with cystic acne but also moderate acne from hormone changes due to significant stress and just getting older, Im 33. My face would just start to itch before a break out and all this acne consistency is new to me (past year) and I am the type to research and tr

  5. Hi, So its almost been 2 years since I last posted on Acne.org and kind of feel that I owe the community something after it helped me so much in my time of need. First off my name is Tim and in January 2010 i started a years course of accutane finishing this January gone (2011). My dosage at first was 20mg which then rose to 60/80mg then gradually back down towards the end of my treatment. I found life on accutane very, very hard. The drug is a BITCH, but at times we need a bitch to put us
  6. Disclaimer - This may not work for everyone, but I have been suffering from hormonal acne for about 20 years now and have FINALLY managed to clear my skin, so I wanted to share with people what has worked for me in the hopes that it might help someone out there struggling with the same problem. The following is a detailed description of my multi-structured approach. Feel free to chime in if you have questions. Also note that there is nothing here that is super expensive. All the things I do
  7. I have been on this birth control for 1 month so far and I have been experiencing the worst breakouts. I started birth control for reasons other than acne. My face was pretty clear before birth control and I had never gotten any body acne before using Tri-previfem. I have been getting huge zits within the first month of this pill. Two large cysts on my Chin and two large cysts on my nose. In the past I have only broken out on my chin during that time of the month and that was about it. Now it's
  8. I am about to start Accutane in a couple of days and I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time. I already have a lot of scarring on my face and was wondering if any of you have used Bio Oil on your face while taking Accutane. I have heard wonderful, wonderful things of both Accutane and Bio Oil, but not a lot about them mixed together. But how amazing would it be to able to tame my scars and acne over the course of the 6 months. Any advice would be greatly appreciated; and not just
  9. I have way less acne than I did a few years ago. I definitely know my skin has improved since then but I still feel the same shitty self conscious disgusting about my face because of hyper pigmentation. I am gettin quite a few spots again probably because I'm so stressed with Uni and then stressed that my skin still isn't clear after all these years. It's annoying you put so much effort into getting spots to go then ur still left with something else to cover. I have just read that it's be

    Relapse...

Okay, So in my other blogs i've been talking about how much my skin has improved - well, i've recently gone back to square one and i've been back to the GP who's put me back on Tetracyclide. I've been back on it for about a month now and my acne seems to be getting worse, I've ditched the make up & clense every morning and every night, as well as this i've altered my diet so i'm eating alot more healthier. I was just writing to see if anyone had any other tips on how to get rid of them? I'd
  11. Dealing with the emotional side effects of having bad skin This time last year I couldn't look my Dad in the eye, my skin was the worst it had ever been and my confidence rapidly shattered. I couldn't bare the pain of waking up each and every morning, walking into the bathroom, not turning the light on, looking into the mirror and having to look at my acne-ridden skin. Some days were better than others, some days there would be no new heads and like most days I would see a cluster of new pust

    Day 1

Day 1: Just picked up first prescription (30 pills) at the pharmacy. Not name brand. Came home, took first- big- pill at 5:30 pm on empty stomach. Not sure dosage, will check later. Previously been prescribed on 10% BP once a day in the morning and topical isotretinoin once a day at night. Okay results over about 2 or 3. Scarring is my main problem, especially on cheeks ; everything always scars regardless. Topical iso reduced the size and darkness/redness of them a little but definitely did no
  13. I am in my first month of accutane and I hate it so far. I was able to slow down how dry I am already as I kept over moisturizing right when I started. But right now I am going through the first initial break out and I have never been in so much pain. This is unlike any there break out. This is extremely cystic and I have multiple at once. I have been doing warm compresses, ice, applying apple cider vinegar, hydrocortisone cream, etc. And onceI get rid of one, many others appear. How can I preve

    Day 6

So today is day 6 of my Accutane journey. So far I've been breaking out more than usual, so I guess that is part of the initial break out, or at least I hope so. I'm experiencing a lot of little whiteheads around my lips and chin...annoying because they stand out so much, but hopefully that will improve! Did a lot of you guys stay on antibiotics while starting Accutane? I haven't experienced really dry skin or dry lips yet. I however did get a red face from being outside. The weather has been g

  16. I am so glad that I found this website. I have never really been able to talk to anyone about my acne. All of my friends and family have near perfect skin and I am always singled out with their “suggestions” and miracle cures that a friend of a friend told them about. I started the regimen about a week ago and although I do not see a big difference, many people have told me that my skin looks much better, coincidence? Idk. What I do know is that I want to stick with the regimen until the end and
  17. Well, i'm 23- ill be done with school in about two months. Im in school to be a nutrionist/personal trainer. and having good skin would be pretty ideal in this profession. but... thats not the case for me right now. I've struggled with acne since I can remember, some months better then others. I've tried so many things I can't even remember the names of them all. Antibiotics, topical solutions, cleansers, etc. I've been seeing my dermatologist for two years and we finally both agreed to
  18. Right I've been on this drug for 1 week now, and my experience has changed drastically over such a short period of time. In the first few days I noticed the side effects of dry skin, eyes and lips- but these were very minimal. A few days later, the lips are not really an issue, but my skin! that is a different story altogether. Whenever I apply my cleanser it stings like a [email protected]^%# and likewise when I leave applying moisturiser for too long. My forehead is very raw in comparison with the rest of my
  19. I'm so frustrated I just compared photos of my face from the day I started spiro to today and I think it's doing more damage than it is doing any good. And I knowwwww I know it can take time but I'm nearing the three month mark and this is what my skin looks like?! It's a dissaster. I cannot stop crying. I havent once felt like my skin has been getting better since on this medication. I just went to work and came home to like 2-4 new stubborn under the skin pimples. I'm so depressed Idk how much
  20. I'm so sorry! I haven't written in over a month, and it was intentional. I don't want to write every day or every week when there is nothing interesting to write about. What I've basically been doing this entire month is calling any dermatologist in my area I could find, and asking how soon I can be seen. A quick reminder, the dermatologist I was originally referred to refused to see me until September 2nd (It was June when I asked to be seen). Even though I was extremely distresse

I might as well start at the beginning when i lived out in England i had not bad acne at all well so people said but i don't know just seeing red spots on my face i dint like so i thought i was ugly and never really felt i could love myself or go out and do fun things even though i had like maybe 5 zits but then when i moved to Canada it started to get bad i moved form a normal acne person to mild acne to severe acne once i got severe she put me on acctane instead of having me on some cream i fo

    Please Help Me :/

I have literally tried every product and nothing seems to work anymore. Nothing helps at all and frankly its starting to piss me off, I have very sensitive skin so its not like I can use any cleanser. I also have a small problem with oily skin as well. I've tried a few home remedies such as baking soda, witch hazel and the lemon remedy, but those haven't worked.I wash my face once to twice a day with clean and clear for sensitive skin. But sadly this doesn't work and the other clean and clear pr
