  1. This is a long post but I would greatly appreciate feedback!! First post ever and in need of some advice! I am on the 2nd day into my 10th week of Tretinoin gel 0.01%. 10 weeks ago I was having a pretty bad breakout(never had very bad acne, but this was horrible &all over) Anyways, they were mostly Papules on my cheeks, few Pustules.(but there were some) and a lot of skin colored bumps (not deep ones, weren't painful. They just would never go away nor would they turn into anything) mostly
  2. Hi I never really get acne, it's not "genetic" in my family and I eat extremely healthy. About a month ago, I went on birth control for the first time (I'm 19) and my face exploded with hormonal acne, not cystic or anything too painful but whiteheads and little flesh-colored bumps and my skin was thick with oil. I stayed on birth control for a week, then stopped. I went back to my doctor to explain what was going on, and she insisted it wasn't acne and that it was an allergic reaction because it
  3. Hi guys, I'm on day 4 of the caveman regimen and I've been having a lot of doubt with it right now. To give some background on me: I've had persistent acne for the past almost 2 years, and everything I've been trying has not gotten perfect results. My last routine was using salisylic acid (Biore face cleanser) while taking Doryx (doxycycline) every day. I had been taking Doryx for the past 7 months, and since it's an antiobiotic, I have not been happy having to take it for such a long
  4. Hi guys! Time sure flies by. I've been on The Regimen for 6 months now and it has been one of those decisions that I really pride myself in making. Woot woot! I've been clear for almost 4 months expect for a spot or two every now and then. I still think that is entirely better then what my face used to be. I guess now what I am trying to do is figure out if I can cut the BP application to once a day. I've read many a post about how some of you guys only apply BP once a day and I'm really cur
  5. Ok, I've been on the Acne.org Regimen for 5 months. It's time consuming, it's tough, and absolutely does not fit in with your schedule if you are on the go much. However, the only reason I've continued to do it is because it's given me clear skin, which is what I wanted in the first place. However, the cons at the moment are catching up to the pros. My skin is dry, and very flaky all the time. Every time I go swimming and get out of the water, within minutes my skin is peeling off and everyone n
  6. Hello all! So I've been struggling with painful acne for over 3 years now. I know that is not long, but it is long enough!! I have been to see a dermatologist and pretty much tried everything!! After reading all the advice on here I feel like I have been told things that no one has EVER told me! Not even the dermatologist! so thank you all for that! I want to start pretty much everything Dan tells me to do, there is just one problem!! I am allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide! I tried it right when I s
  7. Hey everyone. I am currently on Accutane and almost done my second month! Basically for the first month I was taking 40mg every other day, and this month 40mg every day. I am seeing my dermatologist on the 22nd to get be prescribed to my new dose. Anyways, 2 months in and I'm barely seeing any results. No I'm not mad about it, it just sucks being patient. I didn't have bad acne when I started on the drug, I'd say moderately severe? I only had 1 or 2 cysts a month. I had no acne on my cheeks and
  8. Hi everyone. I forgot to take Accutane last night and basically this month I was supposed to take 40mg everyday, but on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, take a second pill (80mg). Last friday night I forgot to take the two pills at 12:00am which is around my usual time (sometimes it stretches a bit further than that time). I took it as quickly as I could this morning at around 10am. Now did I mess anything up? I'm afraid I did something wrong here trying to fix this mess. If I have to I will conti
  9. Hello, I'm a 21 year old guy and I've had acne problems ever since I was 16. I've tried dozens of products and over the years it has slowly grown worse. At the moment I'm using Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub 2-3 times a day depending on when I'm home. I scrub gently and gently rub it off with a washcloth. I'm beginning to think that face wash is actually causing my acne. My problem areas are around my mouth and my forehead, and those are the main areas I scrub, thinking it would wor
  10. This is my final phase when I can not go any further. I decided to write how the fucking scars destroyed my whole life and I don't know how to fix it. I have a perfect boyfriend, he really loves me and I told him about my thoughts - he is my last shining star in this world but I can't bother him every day with this stuff. I do not know how to sum it up in the beginning, I've had my health under puberty. Diets, obesity, anorexia - all these impact me. Until then, I had the smoothest most delica
  11. Hey people, i've wrote a new article on how to get rid of a spot overnight!! Go read please. *Moderator edit, URL removed - read the board rules*
  12. Hello everyone, So I struggled with cystic acne all over my face and decided to go on the medication Accutane. I am taking a 40mg dosage and this is my 3rd month on the medication. I am also on a birth control pill as well. This month was weird... my period came a week early so I decided to skip my placebo pills( because who wants their period twice in one month)? Anyways, since then I have been "spotting" ever since its like my period is never ending. Its been about 2 -3 weeks now and I am ge
  13. I am so glad that I found this website. I have never really been able to talk to anyone about my acne. All of my friends and family have near perfect skin and I am always singled out with their “suggestions” and miracle cures that a friend of a friend told them about. I started the regimen about a week ago and although I do not see a big difference, many people have told me that my skin looks much better, coincidence? Idk. What I do know is that I want to stick with the regimen until the end and
  14. Well, i'm 23- ill be done with school in about two months. Im in school to be a nutrionist/personal trainer. and having good skin would be pretty ideal in this profession. but... thats not the case for me right now. I've struggled with acne since I can remember, some months better then others. I've tried so many things I can't even remember the names of them all. Antibiotics, topical solutions, cleansers, etc. I've been seeing my dermatologist for two years and we finally both agreed to
  15. Hi new to acne org, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to post something like this. Is anyone able to tell me what these ‘dots’ are on my face, so far I have tried to ice, use ‘nixoderm’ and tea tree oil and nothing has really affected them. I have attached a photo bellow, the bottom one is quite sore to touch - can’t think of any other information but please leave any advice or reccomendations, thanks!
  16. I am a 26 year old female with cystic acne for 10+ years. After jumping through hoops, I am finally starting my accutane treament on Monday. I think I am as prepared as I can be, but a still a little nervous- as this is a pretty serious drug. I want to TRY to make the process as comfortable, easy & hydrating as possible, so I've accumulated some products before starting, but still on the hunt. I am looking for moisturizing, non stripping "simple" ingredients in every product that I use, but
  17. Hello everyone. I want to share all of my experience with you of this horrible condition and hope it helps at least 1 of you who reads this post. My acne only really stared when i became aware of it. It must have always been there but i never paid attention to it. But it seemed kicked off in my mid 20s after a stressful bout at work. But also poor dental hygeine at the time. It was only when I started to touch and obsess with the skin that it became a problem. Popping the pimples, picking the
  18. Hi there, The past month waiting has been hell for me, constantly worrying about starting Accutane. I'm in my mid 20's and have suffered from acne that won't go away since I was a teenager. I'm scared to death to start this drug tonight because I get chronic migraines and almost every single review I've read online, people reported really, really bad headaches. I weigh around 230 lbs and I was prescribed 40mg Claravis for the first month. I'm scared to death to start taking this. Liter
  19. Right I've been on this drug for 1 week now, and my experience has changed drastically over such a short period of time. In the first few days I noticed the side effects of dry skin, eyes and lips- but these were very minimal. A few days later, the lips are not really an issue, but my skin! that is a different story altogether. Whenever I apply my cleanser it stings like a [email protected]^%# and likewise when I leave applying moisturiser for too long. My forehead is very raw in comparison with the rest of my
  20. I'm so frustrated I just compared photos of my face from the day I started spiro to today and I think it's doing more damage than it is doing any good. And I knowwwww I know it can take time but I'm nearing the three month mark and this is what my skin looks like?! It's a dissaster. I cannot stop crying. I havent once felt like my skin has been getting better since on this medication. I just went to work and came home to like 2-4 new stubborn under the skin pimples. I'm so depressed Idk how much
  21. I'm so sorry! I haven't written in over a month, and it was intentional. I don't want to write every day or every week when there is nothing interesting to write about. What I've basically been doing this entire month is calling any dermatologist in my area I could find, and asking how soon I can be seen. A quick reminder, the dermatologist I was originally referred to refused to see me until September 2nd (It was June when I asked to be seen). Even though I was extremely distresse
  22. I'm wondering how long the dry/flaky skin period should realistically last? I'm in my 4th month of the treatment and my skin still gets very dry and flaky, with my forehead covered by a layer of dead/dry skin that I can't get rid of. Shouldn't this have passed by now? How long does this last? My skin has also not really gotten better. There was an initial period the 1st month and a half when my skin was perfect but then the dry/flaky skin started and I get at least 5 yellow pimples each day so I
  23. Hi everyone, I'm thinking about starting the regimen as I have moderately bad acne on my face and back, and it has started to really affect my daily life as well as my self-esteem. It has gotten so bad that I an ashamed to wear low back tops and dresses without a cardigan or something to cover the gap. I am constantly anxious about people seeing my back, even my long term partner! I have tried everything from store-bought products to antibiotics, and even the pill (though it did more harm th
  24. Hello, I've just finished my second round of accutane. I finished the first round a year ago and my acne came back so badly and pretty quickly. Now I have just finished my second round of being on 6 months of accutane, and I'm so scared about what happens next! I was hoping some people have had more positive effects after being on accutane for a second time? I can't stand the thought of living life with acne again I can't even imagine how I'll deal with it if it comes back! Any advice would be g
  25. Hey guys! Today marks my two years and a month into The Regimen. I am happy to say that majority of my acne is still under control and I haven't had my skin feel and look as good as it does in a long time. Below are pictures of my current skin situation. No make-up, just freshly cleansed skin. I am healing two acne marks on the left side of my face for now but they are already dried out and flat and I am just dealing with the dark marks with the use of AHA. I thought maybe I'd make this post
