  1. Disclaimer - This may not work for everyone, but I have been suffering from hormonal acne for about 20 years now and have FINALLY managed to clear my skin, so I wanted to share with people what has worked for me in the hopes that it might help someone out there struggling with the same problem. The following is a detailed description of my multi-structured approach. Feel free to chime in if you have questions. Also note that there is nothing here that is super expensive. All the things I do
  2. Hi there, The past month waiting has been hell for me, constantly worrying about starting Accutane. I'm in my mid 20's and have suffered from acne that won't go away since I was a teenager. I'm scared to death to start this drug tonight because I get chronic migraines and almost every single review I've read online, people reported really, really bad headaches. I weigh around 230 lbs and I was prescribed 40mg Claravis for the first month. I'm scared to death to start taking this. Liter
  3. I am struggling hardcore with my skin, and at this point, I don't know what to do. I'm 19 and have had cystic acne for years, and have yet to find a skincare routine that works for me. My skin is fairly sensitive, but the acne is out of control. I am desperate for any advice on products that won't break the bank but will really help my skin's appearance. If you guys could *please* give me your best recommendations, I would be so appreciative. I don't have any products that I swear by; I'm lookin
  4. Hi everyone! I’m a 26 year old female who is about to start the Accutane treatment for 6 months. I’ve struggled with acne my entire life and thought it would clear up by the time I graduated college. No such luck for me. I finally went to a dermatologist and I’m going to be starting Accutane next month. I’m excited to finally take care of this acne (hopefully once and for all) but after doing some research, I have a few concerns and questions. Some background you should know: -I suffer fr
  5. So a few months ago I had the worst breakout I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure if it was random or due to some treatments that I was trying at the time. I stopped doing everything. I went straight caveman regimen to try and help and it seemed like it helped a little. The only things I do now is use tamanu oil for HIP and I've been taking some vitamins and I even went and bought a filtered showerhead for my shower to help filter the water I use on my face. It just seems like nothing I'm doin
  6. This is my final phase when I can not go any further. I decided to write how the fucking scars destroyed my whole life and I don't know how to fix it. I have a perfect boyfriend, he really loves me and I told him about my thoughts - he is my last shining star in this world but I can't bother him every day with this stuff. I do not know how to sum it up in the beginning, I've had my health under puberty. Diets, obesity, anorexia - all these impact me. Until then, I had the smoothest most delica
  7. Hello everyone I have been on monitoring this forum for years for my acne. I haven’t found an answer to my current issue so thought I’d make an account and ask the real experts! Bit if a background: I’m 25 years old and have mild/moderate cystic acne. It has got worse over the years (since I was 13) but has never been horrendous (except for the few months I used isotrex) but is enough to cause me to not go out, cancel plans etc. I’ve tried all the usual things: duac, antibiotics (multiple
  8. Hello everyone, So I struggled with cystic acne all over my face and decided to go on the medication Accutane. I am taking a 40mg dosage and this is my 3rd month on the medication. I am also on a birth control pill as well. This month was weird... my period came a week early so I decided to skip my placebo pills( because who wants their period twice in one month)? Anyways, since then I have been "spotting" ever since its like my period is never ending. Its been about 2 -3 weeks now and I am ge
  9. To retinol or not to retinol, that is the question. So, I am thinking about starting a new regimen for some skincare concerns I have (mainly hyperpigmentation and scarring but also anti-aging related issues too) and I want to try using Retinol, but I need some advice. I have ethnic, oily, acne prone, sensitive skin and my current skincare routine consists of a cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen (I use Cetaphil for everything), also I exfoliate gently with a hand towel every now and then
  10. I began to struggle with acne when I was about 15 years old. During my senior year of high school, I was started on my first dose of Accutane, which was successful in clearing my acne. However, I had to stop taking the medication after 5 months because I was experiencing severe irritability and depression. I experienced terrible panic attacks for the next four years, and my acne returned, full force. During my senior year of college, I reluctantly chose to go on Accutane once again.
  11. In university during the first few months, I broke out TERRIBLY. And whatever I did, the breakouts wouldn't stop. I tried all kinds of treatments from switching my cleansing routine to using over the counter products, to even trying toothpaste or green tea teabags...all which seem now, in hindsight, to be grave errors because when the breakouts finally cleared up, I was left with atrophic/pitted scars and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks, from under my cheekbones to around just above my chin. M
  12. So I went on an accutane cure when I was 16 due to severe acne and it got rid of most of my acne. However afterwards I was left with a lot of scars on my face, especially in the temple and forehead area. My dermatologist had me wait a year before laser treatment, and now I've completed 1 out of 3 treatments (6 months between each treatment) with co2 fractional laser. I am now 18 years old and the scars haven't really improved all that much. I know it's a lenghty process but I just feel like the
  13. so a few years ago i started using acne.org to treat my acne. and it did help and was continuing to use it as my maintainance since i always always break out.(its in my blood,my father side has a history with acne) but i stop last february for a month. THIS PICTURE IS TAKEN LAST FEB.just a few bumbs.freak out and afraid i might get the worst if i dont act again after a month of not using acne.org so i did order and use it again. after the course of three months my skin gets worst.my confidence
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has/had a similar issue to the photos I'm showing.. I have these tiny bumps (some are hard like whiteheads), along my jawline and on my forehead.. right after a shower I can squeeze some stuff out of them and the bumps will go down.. but I'm not gonna do that all over my face because I'll definitely end up with a few pimples the next day (as you can see this is a main cause of the redness and pimples on my forehead). I also deal with a bit of hormonal acne
  15. I used to see a dermatologist but I stopped because of family insurance problems. My dermatologist gave me pills that helped clear my skin so much! But I can’t get a refill anymore. Since then I continued using the Epiduo Forte she prescribed for the morning and Veltin with Flurandrenolide Lotion USP 0.05% at night. ( This medication is used on the skin to treat acne. This medication is a combination of adapalene (a retinoid) and benzoyl peroxide (an antibiotic and skin-peeling agent). This prod
  16. I'm new to this site but have had acne for about 3/4 years. I'm 15 years old and currently I wash my fave twice a day with The Body Shop Tea Tree cleanser, then toner and a simple (as in the brand) moisturiser. In the past I have used Clearasil, freederm, Clean and Clear etc, and recently tried an Acnecide benzoyl peroxide gel but it did not go very well. I eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg everyday and do not eat meat, I do eat crisps and other junk food but I honestly don't think it aff
  17. Hi new to acne org, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to post something like this. Is anyone able to tell me what these ‘dots’ are on my face, so far I have tried to ice, use ‘nixoderm’ and tea tree oil and nothing has really affected them. I have attached a photo bellow, the bottom one is quite sore to touch - can’t think of any other information but please leave any advice or reccomendations, thanks!
  18. I am a 26 year old female with cystic acne for 10+ years. After jumping through hoops, I am finally starting my accutane treament on Monday. I think I am as prepared as I can be, but a still a little nervous- as this is a pretty serious drug. I want to TRY to make the process as comfortable, easy & hydrating as possible, so I've accumulated some products before starting, but still on the hunt. I am looking for moisturizing, non stripping "simple" ingredients in every product that I use, but
  19. Hello everyone. I want to share all of my experience with you of this horrible condition and hope it helps at least 1 of you who reads this post. My acne only really stared when i became aware of it. It must have always been there but i never paid attention to it. But it seemed kicked off in my mid 20s after a stressful bout at work. But also poor dental hygeine at the time. It was only when I started to touch and obsess with the skin that it became a problem. Popping the pimples, picking the
  20. Two months ago: today: So this girly needs some advice from women who have or are suffering from hormonal acne and have used birth control to control their acne breakouts. Background: I have suffered from anorexia for the last 6 years (since I was 16) and due to this I have never properly had my periods, only the occasional one every now and again. However since maintaining my weight, still low but healthy enough (BMI 15, if that is any help to anyone), I have had a massive hormonal breakou
  21. Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  22. Hi I’m every new here! im 18, at uni, healthy sporty and arty guy and I’ve been struggling with acne for 6 years and it’s at it’s worse and it’s killing everything I care about and love. I’ve been to the doctors a gazillion times and nothing works apart from Nicam (freederm) occasionally however the spots keep coming, bigger, redder, more painful and leaves scaring and pigmentation all over the place. My acne is mostly in the t zone on my face and it’s pretty bad and also on my back. I know acc
  23. I'm so frustrated I just compared photos of my face from the day I started spiro to today and I think it's doing more damage than it is doing any good. And I knowwwww I know it can take time but I'm nearing the three month mark and this is what my skin looks like?! It's a dissaster. I cannot stop crying. I havent once felt like my skin has been getting better since on this medication. I just went to work and came home to like 2-4 new stubborn under the skin pimples. I'm so depressed Idk how much
  24. Hello everyone, This is my 3rd course of Accutane and it was a success for me the first 2 courses. I was on a low dose 20mg a day both period. No initial breakouts, acne disappeared fast. But it always seem to come back. Now my acne came back for the 3rd time and its actually pretty mild about 5 cystic pimples that are just so persistent and takes weeks to turn into head. I decided to give Accutane another try because it gave me such great results. But now I’m on my second month and my
  25. I'm wondering how long the dry/flaky skin period should realistically last? I'm in my 4th month of the treatment and my skin still gets very dry and flaky, with my forehead covered by a layer of dead/dry skin that I can't get rid of. Shouldn't this have passed by now? How long does this last? My skin has also not really gotten better. There was an initial period the 1st month and a half when my skin was perfect but then the dry/flaky skin started and I get at least 5 yellow pimples each day so I
