    Day 6

So today is day 6 of my Accutane journey. So far I've been breaking out more than usual, so I guess that is part of the initial break out, or at least I hope so. I'm experiencing a lot of little whiteheads around my lips and chin...annoying because they stand out so much, but hopefully that will improve! Did a lot of you guys stay on antibiotics while starting Accutane? I haven't experienced really dry skin or dry lips yet. I however did get a red face from being outside. The weather has been g
  2. I need advice. Earlier last December before I got my first period my skin started to change. It like so oily and my pores got huge. I started breaking out on my chin. It spread to my jawline. Then my forehead. Then my cheeks. I'm emotionally devastated. Today I am having my second period and the nightmare has gotten worse. It's all over my face and now on my back and shoulders. My mom is sending me to a dermatologist on Saturday. I can't articulate how just destroyed I am. Today at schoo
  3. Hi im thinking about going on accutane, a low dose but the problem is is that I suffer with depression. I’m on medication for it but I’m worried they will say I can’t go on accutane as it’s a side effect that it could get much worse
  4. I keep hearing everyone talk about how acne.org talks about substitute products. Now I don't know if it's because I'm in Canada... but I don't see this information ANYWHERE! All I want to know is a good and comparable substitute for the acne.or cleanser and moisturizer. So if anyone can answer that for me or link me to that information that would be SUPER! I love the benz and I will keep on that but shipping is around 30$.... so it's really not ideal to be getting orders very often with that pri
  5. Please someone help me. I have done all I can do reduce and prevent my acne, along with treating my scars. I have starting drinking plenty of water, using lemon juice, witch hazel, exfoliating, face masks. Along with these, I maintain a gentle skin care routine. I don't know how to heal my face.. can anyone further advise me? I have combination skin. I also have much more cystic acne than regular surfaced acne, which is where the scarring comes from. the acne is mostly on my cheeks but I also do
  6. I have mild acne and large pores from coconut oil. I was on acne.org's regimen but I didn't like the BP and I did my research and leaned it was horrible for your skin in the long run. So I bumped into TTO. I mixed it with witchhazel and applied on my face as a toner. For some reason, I ditched the witch hazel and added tea tree oil in she butter as a moitsturizer. Then I stopped that and then started adding TTO on my skin by itself before apply AHA. OMG my skin is soooooooo dry now. I have oil/c
  7. I was on roaccutane until October which completely cleared my back acne + facial acne wonderfully. I had clear porcelain skin. At the beginning of February I noticed I started getting a few pimples on my back again (as well as a couple of minuscule ones on my chin when it was nearing my period). My main concern was that my back acne might escalate if I didn't do something about it so I went to the doctor and was prescribed dianette (or co-cyprindiol as it is called in the UK). It's week 5 a
  8. Would really love some feedback from a dermatologist but any feedback is welcomed. I've only had one very light fraxel laser treatment, and to be totally honest it didn't have much effect. This is two years post-accutane. I've accepted my scarring emotionally but at the same time, this is something that I would be really happy to not have to worry about at the ripe age of 20. I would be so thankful to just be able to be free from this once and for all. If anyone has scarring similar to m
  9. This is so embarassing. Ive been taking care of my skin more than ever. And while my breakouts dont occur as often anymore my skin i just.getting oilier oilier. I wash my face day and night. By the time.i wake up its so oily already! I moisturize too. Im honestly so embarassed and disgusted by my pores. They used to only be barely in my t zone when i was like 18. Ik now only 22 and this kills me inside. Please help. These pics show my cheeks and notice how far down they go. tthey look worse. In
  10. I found my 5th grade promotion pictures while looking in my closet and it made me realize just how long I've been struggling with acne and just how much it's affected my self-esteem. Having acne forced me to be more self aware and I've tried every home remedy and face wash you could think of only to end up in the same place. I don't really know what it's like to have clear enough skin to be confident without makeup or to make eye contact with someone without assuming they're thinking the worse.
  11. So I was on Zarah (generic of Yasmin) for over 4 months and it gave me horrible acne, like all over my face. I normally only got 2 pimples a month before starting Zarah (which is supposed to be good for acne). Anyway, I couldn't take it anymore and I quit. I've been off it for almost 3 months now and I'm still having horrible, painful acne. It got much better 2-3 weeks after quitting but it hasn't got any better since. I still have several new pimples a day, they're just not as big as they were
  12. So this is a random question but I feel like my acne left me with a lot of emotional problems. First of all when I had acne (now i only have some scarring left) I was always anxious to be in bad lighting and stuff like that. So i guess after so much constant worrying i still feel social anxiety bc it was so common to me before that it hasn't gone away even if the original problem is gone. Is there any way to get rid of this other than seeing a doctor? because I don't want any anxiety pills AT
  13. Hi guys I've been using differin cream 0.1% for about 2 weeks now, every third night and I've definitely been getting a lot more acne then usual. I've read everywhere that it gets worse before it gets better but I just wondered how long it's taken people to get past the " purging" stage!? I was so worried about this happening which is why I reduced it to every third night instead of everynight anyone's advice or help is extremely welcomed and helpful!
  14. Hi everyone, my acne/hyperpigmentation has caused me to have inferiority complex whereby I do not feel that I am good enough for anyone. I always feel that any woman deserves better. I know I should not think this way but it seems very difficult to think otherwise. I want to marry and settle down in the near future but because of this complex I feel as though I should not. There are other thoughts/feelings which also trouble me but this is one of the main thoughts/feelings. Any advice would
  15. Hey all, So I'm going to be starting accutane in two weeks. I'm brand new tot this website but I decided to participate so that I could eventually help someone else who is going through the same situation. I had just developed a full face of acne this summer within one week. Prior, I have never broken out before. After eliminating all possible causes incluing changing my diet (I have been a vegan but I made minor adjustments), checking my makeup, allergies, trying all topical treatments, anti-b
  16. This is my first post. so hello everyone! I am 23 years old and have been dealing with acne since high school, i have tried almost every topical, pill, otc, prescription, diet, and home remedy you can think of. I am 5'4" and weigh 110lbs. I am just looking for support, advice, and comments as I go through this accutane journey. I am 19 days in and will be on accutane for a total of 5 months. During the first week of 40mg my skin was doing well, it seemed to clear up a little bit and the oil was
  17. Hi, I recently got a cortisone shot about 2.5 weeks ago for a cyst (no pain) on my cheek. After about 3-5 days it has gone completely flat, but still purple/reddish. About a week after I got the cortisone shot, I noticed that the cyst has started to pop up again in the same spot and become red. Also another cyst/nodule right next to it (that was there previously) started to sprout as well. I was prescribed Acanya (again) and Aczone. Been putting Acanya just on the cyst and don't see any real i
  18. Hi everyone! I haven't tried this product yet but I'm going to get it soon. I was just wondering if this is too harsh if your skin is not VERY VERY bad? And also does it close your pores and remove whiteheads and blackheads? Does your skin peel really badly? I'm so excited to try this regimen but at the same time I want to be realistic and prepare myself. Thank you!!!
  19. Hi Everyone, First of all, I'm new here and love the supportive community! Medication: 3-step La Roche Posay Efflaclar Anti Blemish System (Comes with a purying foaming gel, Toner and Efflaclar Duo+ Moisturiser) Daily - Washing my face x2 a day with this routine. Evening - Using Isotrexin gel and x1 Lymecycline tablet (scared to stop since last time I broke out really bad...) I've tried so many different products but my acne is more on the mild - moderate range but it's get

    What To Do?

Hi folks, Sorry for the rather long post but once again I am feeling down and I am tried of this crap and not sure what I should do!!! Like 17 yeas of struggling with them spots on and off is not enough! I am in my mid 30's now and will not bore you with all the details of my life story because you can read my other posts in the other forums. So basically what I have been suffering from is what I think mild acne where I would have a few active spots (sometimes as little as 1 or 2) appearin
  21. Hey guys Well i have been suffering with acne on and off for 5 years now, (mainly on) and i have finally decided to tell my doctor i want to be but on ro-accutane, he has referred me to a dermatologist and my appointment is next week, now i have read all these stories good and bad and i want some advice on how i should use accutane to get the full benefit from it, and what i should encounter on my course of roaccutane. Thanks
  22. Hi Everyone, I am a 24 year old male. I had bad acne when i was 15-18 years old about a 7 out of 10 (7 meaning, on my cheeks and forehead, nodules, cysts and regular pimples, didnt want to leave my house!). I went on proactive around 19 and started using cliondoxyl gel at about 22 and since then my acne has been a 2/3 out of 10 - meaning I break out here and there, 1 or 2 big pimples, nothing serious, nothing that id complain about. I recently broke out again and its been worse than eve
  23. Hey. So if you've been following my posts for awhile you'd know that I struggle with acne and flaky skin. I've been on the regimen for 8 months now, and it's really the only thing that's gotten my acne under control. Dryness however has ALWAYS been a problem since starting the regimen. Nothing has really cured the flaky skin yet. I have a question about scrubs... Since I have a lot of dead skin cells, is it okay to exfoliate every week or so? I have relatively sensitive skin, so I don't want to
  24. Hey guys, i am approaching my twelfth week on the regimen. Almost all of my acne is centralized around my mouth (probably the worst place) . When i started the regimen i went through all the flakiness and dryness everyone talks about and that seems to have gone away. I am just putting bp around my mouth as well. Anyways, going into my twelfth week, almost all of my acne has disappeared, but it looks just as bad as when i started the regimen because of all the redness. I'm starting to think this
