  1. So I went on an accutane cure when I was 16 due to severe acne and it got rid of most of my acne. However afterwards I was left with a lot of scars on my face, especially in the temple and forehead area. My dermatologist had me wait a year before laser treatment, and now I've completed 1 out of 3 treatments (6 months between each treatment) with co2 fractional laser. I am now 18 years old and the scars haven't really improved all that much. I know it's a lenghty process but I just feel like the
  2. Hi! Basically, for about 4 years now my face has been 100 times lighter than the rest of my body and I've found no causes or way to solve this. I have been in the sun and when I tan, the one on my face lasts maybe a week while my body is very dark.(I'm naturally olive skin tone) I usually just go more pale and red in the sun but my body will tan, I have used a face solarium to tan my face but it actually makes me paler. This has caused so much distress for my self esteem as I used to be s
  3. I'm 15 years old and I've had fairly clear skin my whole life. I would get 1-3 pimples at the most and maybe 3-4 when I'm on my period. But it was never a big deal because it would just go away. In the past 2 months, I have been breaking out on my forehead and I still have not found a solution to my forehead acne. It wasn't as bad at first and it was only at the very top of my forehead, and then within 2-3 weeks in the first month my skin was back to normal and I thought it was just a temporary
  4. Hi there. So this past fall my skin sort of started acting differently I guess you could say than from what I have been used to. Normally I'd just get the usual pimples here and there around my chin and nose. Recently there have been marks that come and go on my forehead and cheeks, but for the most part, they haven't been anything to go crazy about or complain about. However in between my eyebrows and on the bridge of my nose are these 2 colorless dots that just won't budge! They don't

    Worsening Acne

Hey everyone!! My skin has been terrible for over a year now. I know this pales in comparison to other people's battle with acne, and I truly sympathize for you. Please know you are beautiful and we can get through this !! Anyways, this year my skin had progressively gotten worse. I've used so many products (I will list later) and have been to doctors and dermatologists. Nothing has helped- only made it worse. These are the products I've used : BP, Retin-A, Clindamycin, Finacea, Soolant
  6. So as you can see in the pictures I have scarring isolated to my mid-cheeks. (besides the holes + rolling scars) I have never seen such scarring before - (lined / uniform). Can anyone identify it? Also, I have attached multiple pictures - in my the opinion the left cheek is worse than right. But both are bad. In your honest opinion, would you identify my scarring as mild, moderate or severe? I have visited a dermatologist specifically about scarring once (6 months ago) and he basically t

  8. Hi guys I went to the dermatologist last week and he prescribed me differen cream 0.1%. I've looked for reviews and they have put me off so badly. Some people have wrote that it made their skin 1000% worse and it was all horrific. I want to give it a go, but I'm literally so worried it will ruin my skin more like everyone else has said. I used it last night the tiniest amount and I had no redness although I did wake up with a few tiny spots but I'm pretty sure I had them before I put the crea
  9. I'm starting Accutane at the end of this month and I feel super excited/hopeful but nervous/scared. I'm really excited to get started on the road to (hopefully) permanently clear skin, but I'm really nervous about the side effects and it almost makes me want to not take it/push it off but i guess there's no "good time" to be on Accutane. I know that the side effects may or may not happen or it might not be as severe as the horror stories you read online. But I can't stop thinking about how dif

    Breaking Out! Why?

So it seems that I only post stuff on here when I'm breaking out... Jeez I'm so frustrated you have no idea. I do EVERYTHING right in the regimen. I recently discovered that the way I'm cleansing my face is contributing to all the dryness, so I'm still trying to figure that out. I am really annoyed by just this one little blemish on my face. It's not even a pimple, it's not a zit, it's just a little spot. Red spots. Obviously my acne type has changed since starting the regimen. Mostly my skin is

    Acne Scar Advice

Hello, I'm a 22-year-old female and my acne recently cleared. Now, I'm working on saving up money to get rid of my acne scars. (Bottom two are without makeup.) I was wondering if anyone can give me an estimate on how severe my scarring is and also how much they believe it will cost to fix? Any advice/comments are appreciated. Thank you!

    Relapse...

Okay, So in my other blogs i've been talking about how much my skin has improved - well, i've recently gone back to square one and i've been back to the GP who's put me back on Tetracyclide. I've been back on it for about a month now and my acne seems to be getting worse, I've ditched the make up & clense every morning and every night, as well as this i've altered my diet so i'm eating alot more healthier. I was just writing to see if anyone had any other tips on how to get rid of them? I'd
  13. Hello, my brother is 19 years old and has acne for the last few years. He got depressed and then started using roaccutane and finished the treatment a month ago. During his treatment and after he has been depressed, hasn't got out of his bed and stopped living as he used to, and even went to a psychologist. Now his face look much better but he is still depressed and blames the scars for it. I will appreciate some advice from someone who went through the same thing and maybe some advice for t
  14. I was prescribed tazorac i want to say....almost 4 months ago? Since most of the acne was on the left side of my face that's where I smeared and oh man did it make me purge. Although that purge is gone now, i had some bumps on my right side and I feel like i overspread the cream and now I have tons of small bumps I didn't have before. I know that tazorac creates results but jesus....im just so done with all this purging not only does it look gross and feel painful but some of the bumps get s
  15. Hi everyone. im looking at some advice on Accutane. I’m considering going on it BUT i hate blood tests, and the thought of having to do it every month makes me feel sick! Has anyone been on Accutane and scared of blood tests too? And been ok having regular blood tests?
  16. Hello, This is my first post, but I have been reading a few forums for a while now. I have suffered from pretty bad acne since I was around 12 years old, I am now 27, and like most people have tried everything. I get major breakouts which are very painful, and just the normal all the time spots. I do also now have quite a lot of scarring and discolouration. Some antibiotics worked a bit, but never completely. So I made the decision to start Roaccutane, even after all the horror stories I tho
  17. Hi everyone, my acne/hyperpigmentation has caused me to have inferiority complex whereby I do not feel that I am good enough for anyone. I always feel that any woman deserves better. I know I should not think this way but it seems very difficult to think otherwise. I want to marry and settle down in the near future but because of this complex I feel as though I should not. There are other thoughts/feelings which also trouble me but this is one of the main thoughts/feelings. Any advice would
  18. I keep hearing everyone talk about how acne.org talks about substitute products. Now I don't know if it's because I'm in Canada... but I don't see this information ANYWHERE! All I want to know is a good and comparable substitute for the acne.or cleanser and moisturizer. So if anyone can answer that for me or link me to that information that would be SUPER! I love the benz and I will keep on that but shipping is around 30$.... so it's really not ideal to be getting orders very often with that pri

    What To Do?

Hi folks, Sorry for the rather long post but once again I am feeling down and I am tried of this crap and not sure what I should do!!! Like 17 yeas of struggling with them spots on and off is not enough! I am in my mid 30's now and will not bore you with all the details of my life story because you can read my other posts in the other forums. So basically what I have been suffering from is what I think mild acne where I would have a few active spots (sometimes as little as 1 or 2) appearin

    Scrubs & The Regimen?

Hey. So if you've been following my posts for awhile you'd know that I struggle with acne and flaky skin. I've been on the regimen for 8 months now, and it's really the only thing that's gotten my acne under control. Dryness however has ALWAYS been a problem since starting the regimen. Nothing has really cured the flaky skin yet. I have a question about scrubs... Since I have a lot of dead skin cells, is it okay to exfoliate every week or so? I have relatively sensitive skin, so I don't want to
  21. Hi Everyone, I am a 24 year old male. I had bad acne when i was 15-18 years old about a 7 out of 10 (7 meaning, on my cheeks and forehead, nodules, cysts and regular pimples, didnt want to leave my house!). I went on proactive around 19 and started using cliondoxyl gel at about 22 and since then my acne has been a 2/3 out of 10 - meaning I break out here and there, 1 or 2 big pimples, nothing serious, nothing that id complain about. I recently broke out again and its been worse than eve
  22. Hey guys, i am approaching my twelfth week on the regimen. Almost all of my acne is centralized around my mouth (probably the worst place) . When i started the regimen i went through all the flakiness and dryness everyone talks about and that seems to have gone away. I am just putting bp around my mouth as well. Anyways, going into my twelfth week, almost all of my acne has disappeared, but it looks just as bad as when i started the regimen because of all the redness. I'm starting to think this
  23. Hey guys Well i have been suffering with acne on and off for 5 years now, (mainly on) and i have finally decided to tell my doctor i want to be but on ro-accutane, he has referred me to a dermatologist and my appointment is next week, now i have read all these stories good and bad and i want some advice on how i should use accutane to get the full benefit from it, and what i should encounter on my course of roaccutane. Thanks
  24. Hello all! So I've been struggling with painful acne for over 3 years now. I know that is not long, but it is long enough!! I have been to see a dermatologist and pretty much tried everything!! After reading all the advice on here I feel like I have been told things that no one has EVER told me! Not even the dermatologist! so thank you all for that! I want to start pretty much everything Dan tells me to do, there is just one problem!! I am allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide! I tried it right when I s
  25. Hi I never really get acne, it's not "genetic" in my family and I eat extremely healthy. About a month ago, I went on birth control for the first time (I'm 19) and my face exploded with hormonal acne, not cystic or anything too painful but whiteheads and little flesh-colored bumps and my skin was thick with oil. I stayed on birth control for a week, then stopped. I went back to my doctor to explain what was going on, and she insisted it wasn't acne and that it was an allergic reaction because it
