    Day 30

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

30th dose at 40 mg, once a day. Initial break out in full force! Very discouraging, I was in Richmond, VA celebrating a dear friend's engagement and all I wanted to do was hide my face!
  4. I had acne all though highschool, but it was always mild whiteheads/blackheads that didn't scar or cystic acne that faded after a week or so. When I started college, things got worse. When I turned 18 the flareups were often but manageable. To treat it, my dermatologist recommened finacea, then added a retenoid gel, then spirotolactone (sorry for any mispellings, I'm on my phone), and an array of antibiotics. The only option she says I had left, since these only lessened the acne on my for
  5. This week is my lady week and along with it came one great big pimple on my left cheek. It hasn't really surfaced but it's red and it hurts.. Could also be because I was super tired on Saturday night and didn't properly wash my makeup off before bed (I used a wipey thingy though!). Other than that, I've been on the right path. You know, the one that EVENTUALLY leads to clear skin. Maybe I haven't been great at remembering to apply lip balm lately, because my lips have been so dry. Even drier
  6. Shelliteshite

    Introduction

The woman in my mid 30s who had always had very good skin until about 30. I have tried everything it started with Clinique and proactive and Dermalogica then Bocia, Avene, la Roche, dove, simple, spectro, Aleppo soap and on and on and on. I've discovered the awful truth about moisturizer. And that is, once you start using it it changes the way that your skin produces see them forever. A Swedish scientist recently discovered that using moisturizer actually makes your skin worse: http://www.

    Day 1

As you can see I have moderate acne, I will get maybe 5 cysts a year. I usually wake up to 2 new pimples every week which leave very bad hyper pigmentation that will last for more then 6 months. I am lucky in that I do not get bad acne on my forehead, back, and chest. I get all of my acne on my cheeks and recently it has been leaving ice pick scars, that is when I got serious about tackling my acne. Today is my first day taking 40mg, and the one thing I am nervous about is dry lips and eyes beca
  8. Tomorrow's food/regimen will be (I have veeeeery limited food options for certain reasons...): On face: Lotion, makeup (I'll check which kind I use tomorrow)Breakfast: Wheat toast and peanut butter Apple Snack: Banana Lunch: Carrots Hummus Apples Snack: Raw almonds Dinner: Salad (non dairy dressing) Cooked vegetable of some type Wash face with Purity Cleanser, some Nivea lotion (keep it simple, no picking...which I already did tonight. Ugh.) Anyway, I'm t
  9. Hey guys, long time no speak. I can't believe it's been nearly 6 months since I posted on here. So I want to get straight into it. Here's an updated skin routine then I'll go into some details, some things have changed some haven't. Here goes: AM acne.org cleanser ACV toner Cetaphil moisturiser Smashbox Light Primer....makeup etc PM - post make up removal acne.org cleanser clearogen cleanser ACV toner La Roche Posey Effaclar Duo+ Cetaphil with a drop of EPO Spot treatments (sparingly) sudocr
  10. Here are current pictures of my bare skin. I’m trying to keep positive because I can see improvement but it’s definitely not flawless like so many other reviews I’ve read. Maybe my expectations are crazy but I seriously want my skin to not have any blemishes. I am still getting under the skin zits on my forehead that do not go away unless I pop them. Then I’m left with terrible scabs, as you can see in the pic. And I still have these deep blackheads or something down on my chin that will not pur
  11. Week 13 - Just this week I started doing 20mg at night and 10 in the morning every other day and 10mg at night and 10mg in the morning the rest of the days. I hope to be at 30mg everyday within the next 2weeks. So this was the first month that I was cyst free! It felt amazing to go through Christmas and New Years holidays with a cyst free face! I am not sure if my antibiotics from my kidney infection and then for after my surgery helped bring cyst free cause after being off of them for a wee
  12. Week 10- 20mg split dose, dianne 35 birth control, and antibiotics. I've had to add some antibiotics this week as I have another kidney infection. I go for surgery next week on my kidney but they say there should be no interaction with Accutane and I can continue on it as is. Despite skin being dry and fragile, it is doing really good; no cysts, but the next 2 weeks will be the true test. Only other symptoms this week are lips and eyes continue to be very dry.
  13. Week 8 - 20mg split does and dianne-35 birth control pill I got so fed up with my dry skin that I got all new products. I got a serum and another intense moisturizer plus a very gentle exfoliator that I have been using when needed (usually every other day). I have noticed a big positive difference in my skin and it's too much of a coincidence with the new products. My skin is now more plump and soft and the tiny bumps went away. I have not noticed any breakout associated with moisturizing and
  14. I have decided to update a little less often due to the fact that it will be really long if I keep doing updates every day. Things are still the same as the other day, no improvements, fresh spots as others are clearing up. That huge lump on my chin seems to want to stay there. Can't believe there has been no improvement at all in that one. Just a waiting game really.
  15. As a teenager I experienced a small pimple here and there, never anything cystic and never anything I would describe as acne. It wasn't until I turned 23 that my skin began having issues. I returned home from a family vacation with a pretty bad breakout. I tried over the counter products for a couple of months before I decided the breakout wasn't going away. I made an appointment with a dermatologist who took one look at my face (not a very close look) and told me that I had adult acne. Because
  16. No news is good news....2 weeks post antibiotic treatment and continued use of benzoyl peroxide and no new spots.
  17. Quick update here....On week 6 I began to get yet another spot in the same damn area so I started using BP again. I started using it very lightly to begin with because I wanted to avoid my skin getting red and flaky. It seemed to work and my skin has now adjusted to the daily use and not becoming overly dry and I haven't had another spot since. It's only been two weeks, but my skin doesn't really feel like it's "on the verge" of a breakout, like it has since I started the antibiotics. I've just
  18. I just wanted to write a brief history of my experience with acne before going into writing accutane blogs. I have had acne since I was nine years old. When I was younger it was only a few pimples but it got worse throughout middle school. It seemed to calm down in high school and college but I still never had clear skin. Now after graduating college it has all flared up again. When I was in middle school I used Retin-A and differin topical creams that were prescribed to me by my primary c
  19. Ok, so I haven't posted in a while as nothing much has been going on. I have kind of lost track of the days and weeks but I am in month 5 now and would say up until now I had no real noticeable improvement. I woke up the other morning and it seemed overnight things have significantly got better. My forehead is amazing seriously. The red marks I have have faded slightly and my skin seems smoother in general. Still some stubborn bits on my jawline and I had a bigish spot on my cheek that is just h
  20. So I feel like things have improved a little in the last week. I have some new pictures. The fresh red marks are where I extracted some spots the other day. I feel the old red marks have improved a bit. The only really active areas now are on my jaw line and just under on my neck, which has always been a problem area and especially when I am due on which is now. I have put the new pictures next to last weeks ones. My skin is a little red at the mo, just a bit sensitive.
  21. Hey Guys, Veteran member here. Ive been battling acne since I was a teen, cant remember how young now. I've had 2 courses of accutane and tried numerous topicals. Around 26-27 yrs of age, my acne became very mild and manageable. I've just had my first child, and my skin has steadily gone downhill since giving birth. I am 11 months post-partum and my skin looks the worst it ever has. Over the last 6 months i have tried proactiv, PC BHA 2%, PC BHA 4%, (no BP as this is too damaging to m
  22. SOOOooo I mentioned last week that I wanted to try a primer/bb cream, yea? Yea, no... Bad idea. For only 2 days last week I tried the Smashbox primer light. It made my face dry as a dinosoar's ass. Needless to say, I live in the desert and it's over 100 degrees daily right now. PLUS the water in Vegas is super hard and terrible for dry, sensitive skin, like MINE OF COURSE LOLOLOL. So only 2 days of this stuff definitely made me break out. I went back to just my regimen and things are improv
  23. From the album: Week One / Day 4

WEEK ONE / DAY 4 (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.)**I am NOT wearing skin makeup besides mascara** I noticed that the redness had subsided, however, my skin was still "darkening" and "hardening". Acne was "smoothing" out, but new breakouts were still occurring. Dryness and flakiness still occurred. Acne marks were healing and being dried out. Still a lot of hyper pigmentation.

    7 weeks

    From the album: October 2013-Before

Most of the red coloring is scars. The texture is making a dramatic improvement. It doesn't feel like a rocky road anymore. There is still room for improvement, but it is slowly getting there!
  25. Just a quick update but there really is nothing to tell. Still no new spots in 3 weeks... carrying on with using UltraClear (have not been using BP), plus vitamin D3 supplement and (what I think is the main reason I am staying clear)...very little dairy. Also, I am loving the AHA lotion, it makes my skin feel so smooth! Despite no new spots, I am still working on clearing the left side of my chin of hyperpigmentation and the last two spots I had are still a tiny bit inflamed, but thankfully
