  1. Hi there. This is my second round of Accutane and I find myself wishing that I had a log from my first round (in 2009) to refer to. So starting this one to track my progress. I will try to keep it succinct as possible and plan to update at least weekly with photos. My main concerns: ability to continue weight training- already have pre-existing joint issues; dry skin and covering up IB for work; fatigue as I have two youngish kids (2&5) and work 12 hour shifts in the emergency department.
  2. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau
  3. So I went off birth control (ortho tri cyclen) back in October due to lots of problems with it like severe migraines, pains, bloating, horrible mood swings, etc. one of the only things I liked about it was glowing beautiful skin. About a month or so after going off my skin broke out horribly and got super oily. After talking about it on another forum and seeing a doctor I was given Yaz to try. Today was the first Sunday after my period I took the pill and pretty much had immediate regret along w
  4. So thanks to the GI problems I started having my doctor has put me off all medications except one that I'm taking to help fix my GI. Until that's resolved she told me she I can't try a new birth control or any other oral medication. I'm having an EDG on the 9th which will hopefully tell me what exactly is wrong. The specialist I saw thinks it could be both an ulcer and acid reflux, which someone else also said could have possibly come from being on birth control and also taking a ton of advil fr
  5. Hi everybody! Ive been dealing with a large amount of cheek acne for a little over a year and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions in getting rid of it. I'm 23 and just started getting acne about a year ago. As a teenager I really only had a zit every once in a while. It's quite upsetting because it really makes me feel self conscious and insecure and I'm afraid that it will scar. It came out of no where so I don't really know the exact cause. In looking at
  6. Hi Everyone, I am a 38 year old male suffering from lifelong severe treatment resistant acne. I have decided to try a six month course of treatment with Isotretinoin. I will be documenting my journey on video and you are welcome to follow my progress. Wish me luck! Video Diary
  7. Hey guys, Looking for any advice here. I have an appointment with my derm in 3 and a half weeks but am a bit wary on what to do in the meantime. I'm 25. Around the age of 21, I started experiencing horrible adult acne. Painful cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin-- sent me into a pretty bad depression because I was really confused. Had never had anything more than a single pimple, and in my final year of college, my skin was a wreck. It took about a year of regimens (all the topicals, di
  8. Hi Guys its been a while since i posted. As you can see in my previous posts i tried the caveman regimen and it did not work for me at all. my cistic acne on the right side of my face got worse. So i decided to visit the dematologist again. When she saw me she got so mad she basically started screaming at me asking me why didnt i follow the regimen she suggested. This happened the first week of December 2014. She decided to start me on a completly new regmen. First, That torture Facial I real

The adult acne commonly happen in those people who thinking already escape scourge of acne condition from adolescent years, the adult acne can occur over individuals between ages of 25 to 35, the cause surely well define same for the acne treatment, fairly specific to adult variety. 10. Hello everyone! I am writing out of complete desperation. I have never felt this way about myself and I don't know what to do. I'm hoping someone on here will help. I've never had perfect skin. I've always had pimples that would come and go and I didn't have a problem with that. This past May I got a serious bf (I'm 26) so I went to the gyno to get birth control. She put me on avion and all hell broke lose. I would get big cystic pimples and nodules all the time. At first I thought it was mayb
  11. I need help. I've been seeing dermatologists and endos for years. I have hormone imbalances that I treat with birth control. I've tried everything from expensive "pro" products to drug store store products to all-natural DIY creams and washes. I don't use chemicals on my face, I rest well, I drink lots of water, and my diet is mostly healthy with very little dairy and red meat. I've been suffering from this for 10 years now, since I started puberty and I don't know what to do anymore. I'm findin
  12. I want to start off by saying I am a 21 year old female. I have NEVER had a problem with acne before. As a teenager I might have had a couple zits here and there but never full blown acne. I started the depo shot when I was 20 after being on it for 9 months I noticed really bad breakouts that would come and go. My doctor said to try one more cycle (1 shot, 3 months) to see if it would go away. The acne got worse at the end of the three months I decided I HAD to do something else. He put me on qu
  13. Hello, I am curious to know how to tell if your have Acne due to to much bad estrogen or if it is caused by to much testosterone. I know a hormone test would obviosuly tell you the answers but unfortunately i can not afford those. I am looking to seek a treatment but i don't want to use a testosterone booster if my acne is caused by to much testosterone. How can you tell? I have super oily skin - but im italian and always have also my sex drive is kinda low but thats mainly because i dont fe
  14. I'm 30 years old and have had extremely clear skin my entire life. About 3 months ago, overnight it seems, my left cheek broke out in a flushed patch of red bumps. The bumps come and go and move around, sometimes I have whiteheads and sometimes just red bumps, and some days that cheek is redder than other days, but the whole thing is still completely isolated to only my left cheek. I tried every acne face wash and product on the market- nothing helped. After googling, I pretty much diagnosed mys
  15. Hello guys. I'm 20 year old male and i have got this problem for a while now. I went to a different dermatologists and nobody could identify why i get so much acnes or how to clean my body. I have made 2 photos of my face and my back and i would like to share it with you. I have tried some creams, gels and such but nothing helped me in common. I would be really thankful if anybody could give me help!
  16. I am creating this log (also created as a blog entry) in hopes that it helps others. I was blessed with nearly-perfect skin my entire life, until the age of 23. I began having occassional breakouts, mostly on my chin around my mouth, and visited my first dermatologist. These minor breakouts seemed like a big deal to me at the time, since I had never experienced this before. I was prescribed Duac. Within 1 month, my face was crystal clear once again. Using duac as needed kept me clear for almost
  17. Do you know that Genetics is majorly responsible for adult ACNE? Research has shown that genetics is mostly responsible for adult acne(about 81%).Researchers at the ST. Thomas Hospital conducted a large study on the influence of genetics on twins' acne; 458 pairs of identical female twins and 1099 pairs of fraternal twins paricipated. They discovered that 81% of the difference in acne between pairs was attributed to Genetics.the remaining 19% was attributed to environmental factors such as diet a
  18. I pledge is so confusing and the people that answer their phones seem confused as well! so my derm increased my dose at my last visit. it was too high for me and i developed an eye infection, so i started taking the higher dose every other day and a lower dose in between. this helped. anyways i am approaching 30 days and i stlll have pills left obviously. My question is, do i need to go into the derm to get a pregnancy test at the 30 day mark, or can i just wait two more weeks until
  19. I have some questions regarding hormonal acne and the use of Yasmin and Spironolactone.. Hopefully this won't be too long-winded and lengthy.. Has anyone here had luck with replacing Yasmin with spironolactone to treat their (adult) hormonal acne? I don't want to be on Yasmin anymore because I believe that hormonal birth control leaves me with anxiety issues, I also experienced this on the NuvaRing as well. I am 26 and have PCOS which I believe is the root cause of my acne, so I need to be on
  20. Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
  21. Feeling really hopeless when it comes to my acne. I have had bad acne since I was ~14 and I am now 47, yes that's right, 47. It has been non-stop. Last week I had my second cyst that became inflamed, hot and red. My neck started swelling and hurt. So Friday on the way home from work I stopped to see my doctor because it just didn't seem right. He immediately sent me to the pharmacy for Bactrim antibiotic and a steroid to take immediately as I have cellulitis. In two hours time, my swellin

  23. I have had 2 facial acne extractions done and each time new whiteheads have formed. Just wondering if this is normal and the best way to treat it. * a semi big one popped on its own and I wasn't sure how to get the gunk out (I used comedome extractor).
  24. My first post on my journey to combat cystic adult hormonal acne as a 41 year old female. One factor unique to my situation is that I never had any (or very, very little) exposure to sun and I've always worn sunscreen and foundation, even though I have olive skin and tan easily and didn't need make-up/cover-up. The Birth Control Years I took BCP for 21 years, from the age of 18 to 39. I had few side-effects over the years and did go on an off them for a few months at a time, but my first
  25. My question: Is accutane a possibility for me? I have moderate adult acne for the past year, and have been prescribed things like acanya, atralin, tri luma, and all have made my skin worse. Also I have taken minocyline pills the last 6 months. Right now I started a new regiment for the past 2 weeks using clindamycin gel in the morning and ziana in the evening, I also take 75mg of minocyline pills in the morning. My face is not producing many new big pimples or zits, but I have a lot of discolo
