  1. I'm a 22 year old Australian female. I first started to get blackhead on my nose and chin when I was about 11. When I was in my teenage years I began to get pimples- red, raised, sore to touch, hideous to look at. I didn't like this, but I accepted it as being the age I was and most of my friends at some point through their teens had pimples, blackheads and oily skin too. My understanding of acne was that it was something teenagers got as their bodies went through drastic hormonal changes and fo
  2. Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've sought advice here but I really want to know people's opinions and whether anyone experiences the same thing as me. I am 25, suffered with mild/moderate acne since 13/14. It was definitely puberty. It was in the t-zone and just typical of teenage skin. At the age of 17 i used Zineryt which completely cleared me up. Acne came back worse after about 10 months and I've not been free from it since. Up until earlier this year I used 5% BP (acnecide)

  4. Hello. I am new here and I created an account to see if I could get some advice from people with experience with acne similar to mine. In the past, my acne wasn't as severe in the pictures (seen below) but it still bothered me then. Back then, my primary care doctor had me on birth control (Tri-Sprintec). I was on it twice. The first time was for 1 year, 26 days (12/20/2015 to 01/14/2017). The second time was 9 months, 8 days (2/12/2017 to 11/19/2017). It did help my acne then but over time
  5. Well I've been back on the aha and 2.5% combo for the last few weeks and my skins been clearing up to the point that I had a few pimples and scars which were barely visible went to look in the mirror for a wash and my 'tzone' has gone ballistic not happy I had a big social weekend planned and was feeling comfortable and confident at work again. I still have a night out planned just going to avoid being stand off-ish my usual problem when I perceive that my skin is playing up. Acne as usual
  6. When I was 19, I had a terrible breakout unlike anything I ever had before. Sure, I had the normal teenage acne- occasional zits that were cured with topicals. But this was different. I had huge cysts around my chin and lower cheeks and they just kept getting worse and worse in a very short period of time. After going on an antibiotic pill that did not end up working, the doctors resorted to Accutane. My sophomore year of college on Accutane was the most mentally challenging year of my life
  7. I was wondering if any of you have had experience with your acne getting severely worse after being put on spironolactone. I’ve been on it for the second time now (the first time worked beautifully) for 4 months (2 at 100mg, 2 at 150mg). My skin originally just had some Whitehead’s and two or three cysts on my chin. Now I have a bunch of under the skin cysts on my chin and all over my cheeks. im worried that it won’t get better, but I’m also afraid to wean off of it in fear of it getting even
  8. Hi there, my name's Jane and I'm a 24 year old female. I have been battling acne since I was a teenager. It started out with some red spots and over time, it has slowly gotten worse to the point where not only is my face always inflammed, but the texture is bumpy and uneven. I have a feeling my skin is as bad as it is now because of a combination of things: hormones, from picking at my skin, overuse of products, usage of well water as I live in a rural area, and perhaps some sort of fungal t

Pre- Accutane compared to day 40 on Accutane. if you're interested, there's more here: https://www.instagram.com/mynameisjustp/
  10. My skin now is the worst it's been in 6 years. Being as vain as I am it's actually pretty traumatic and I've been finding excuses not to leave the house. Having taken a (9 month?) course of isotretinoin (Roaccutane, Accutane) when I was 14 or so I've been more or less acne-free for a long time, until literally a few months ago when, slowly but surely, they starting cropping up out of nowhere. I suspect that because they're concentrated around my chin and, when I'm PMSing, my jawline, t
  11. I figured I’d write an update since it’s been almost a month since I created this blog. I’ve been on Spiro since October 31, 2017. I am currently taking 100 mg at night before bed. I started the dosage out very low and have gradually increased but I have not seen much improvement in my skin. I would not call my acne severe... BUT it is very very persistent; all kinds of zits and pretty much all over my face to some degree. Being 32 years old I would assume my acne is hormonal but I do not get a
  12. 20mg in the evening and 10mg in the morning. No longer taking Dianne 35 In a few days it will be 4 months since I have been on Accutane and yes, I am now among those that am saying it works amazing and I wish I would have went on it sooner or that the doctors would have suggested it sooner. Even though I was just breaking out with cysts on my chin, it had damaged my self-esteem so bad that there were many days that I turned down opportunities and activities because of the way I looked. I thoug
  13. This is hard for me to do but I want to be real and raw with this journey I’m on. So here are photos I took last night of my skin right after I got out of the shower. I’d say they’re fairly accurate but my skin/acne is always a bit more red and blotchy after I am in a hot shower. Some of the pimples were ones I picked at that you couldn’t even see but I knew they were there and it drives me crazy. I definitely need to be better at not picking and just letting them go. I know that all it does is
  14. I have nothing to report....well, that is actually what this post is about. It's been 8 months since I finished my last course of antibiotics and with nightly use of Benzac benzoyl peroxide (only on my mouth & chin area) my skin has remained clear. I have had the occasional spot over the last 8 months but nothing big or distressing. The longest I've been able to go without antibiotics (in recent years) is just 4 months, so having doubled it is a big milestone. I *think* that the continued ni
  15. Hey everyone, Just going to repost the description details in case anyone missed it and wanted the info: A few important details of my Accutane journey: 33 years old, 125pounds/56kg/ 5' 6" Starting off at 10mg Started taking Dianne 35 after realizing Alesse (which I started a few months ago) made my breakouts much much worse. Been suffering from hormonal cystic acne for just over 10 years now. At first it was a couple a year and progressively has gotten to the point whe
  16. Sigh...my prescription did not come on Saturday, and I don't know if it will come today or tomorrow. Feeling pretty pissed off about it all. My skin is sooo awful right now. I've temporarily stopped with the BP as it's so drying; my clear skin is almost as red as the spotty skin. I've been re-reading my blog and have come to the conclusion that BP was probably the solution to getting my skin clear after I came off the first round of antibiotics. And it worked fairly quickly - 5 weeks is all it t
  17. Background I have been stuggling with acne for the past few months. I had started on proactive when I was in 6th grade for moderate acne. it cleared me up completely until about a year ago then it stopped working. I went odd of it my face freaked out (the worst acne I ever had) I went back on, it has been mostly clear besides A LOT of Closed Condones & Mild Scarring & Hyperpigmentation Starting to also get large cystic Acne from Birth Control- I am going to change it soon. Goa
  18. I have completed my second month of 40mg a day Claravis. I still struggle with dry skin, however there seems to be a balance going on. I can keep it somewhat under control as long as I drink a lot of water each day (100-120 ounces). I keep track either on a note pad at home or using my phone. I try to get 50 ounces in by lunch. It can be hard on busy days, and it makes for frequent trips to the restroom which is also an inconvenience. I truly dislike using public restrooms! My scalp dry
  19. I can't believe it has almost been four months! Thank you for the comments and direct messages I have received, by the way!! So I am still on 100mg of Spiro. Now, I am taking it right before bed with my birth control and I am finding that none of the side affects are bothering me anymore. I was taking it right with dinner and sometimes I would get a little light-headed by the time I drove home from work (around 11pm-midnight). My skin has still remained fairly clear. I did get a really random
  20. The Dermatologist I saw today was really nice. He is my named one, but not who I saw last time. He gave me quite a lot of useful information. I mentioned first the red scars. He said it isn't scarring but actually the skin redness described in the information leaflet, a listed side effect. I assumed that would be full face redness but apparently this is what it refers to. He said when I finish the medication it will fully go and fairly quick. I showed him my face and told him that it has just
  21. I feel like I am constantly moaning so have decided I am not going to post another update until I see an improvement. Things are still the same, bad. I have like this three headed huge cyst thing in between my eyes and still have fresh things appearing every day, some of which are huge painful and under the skin. I still have to pop them due to how nasty they look. My make-up is now going on worse and my hair is dry. I actually think this is the worst I have ever looked and am starting to get p
  22. The dryness on my nose has gone, in fact, most of my dryness has gone but I don't feel oily like I used to. The flaky skin has stopped. My eyes feel dry when I wake up but a few drops of eye drops and they are fine for the day. My skin has got progressively worse over the time I have been on Roaccutane so far. The majority of spots/pimples are the huge painful cysts that come from deep down under the skin. There has been a reduction on the closed comedones and clogged pores, I do spent quite a b
  23. No changes here, my skin is still disgusting and crap and shameful. Spots seem to be taking ages to heal so that's rubbish too.
  24. My chin under my bottom lip is the favourite place for these little beggars at the moment. They are big. I have noticed all these spots seem to be coming to a head around three times which is strange. My skin is a lot drier now and flaking most places, the creases around my nose are quite dry. My lips have the usual need for lipbalm 24/7. The Bare Minerals foundation came. The colour is a great match, Pure brightening serum foundation in Bare Linen. The coverage is nowhere near as full as I
