  1. Hey all, So I've been dealing with acne since about 13, and I'm now 23. I never thought I'd still be dealing with it at this age. I always put off going to the doctor about it because I always thought once I was out of my teens it'd clear up. Now it's time to crack down on it. I used to use Quinoderm back when they made it, and it was the only thing that really cleared it up. No other benzoyl peroxide products have been able to clear me up. My acne is at its worst now in the last couple years.
  2. So I feel like things have improved a little in the last week. I have some new pictures. The fresh red marks are where I extracted some spots the other day. I feel the old red marks have improved a bit. The only really active areas now are on my jaw line and just under on my neck, which has always been a problem area and especially when I am due on which is now. I have put the new pictures next to last weeks ones. My skin is a little red at the mo, just a bit sensitive.
  3. Hi! I have always had an issue with blocked pores/blackheads rimming my entire lip line, now they have spread to my chin. They don't all look exactly like black heads, just a blocked pore with white gunk sticking out. Sometimes, my skin feels rough. I have been using Retin A for the last month and maybe this is getting worse because of the retin a bringing everything to the surface? I do exfoliate once or twice a week. I moisturize and still not much improvement. I have spent hours trying to e
  4. I can't believe it has almost been four months! Thank you for the comments and direct messages I have received, by the way!! So I am still on 100mg of Spiro. Now, I am taking it right before bed with my birth control and I am finding that none of the side affects are bothering me anymore. I was taking it right with dinner and sometimes I would get a little light-headed by the time I drove home from work (around 11pm-midnight). My skin has still remained fairly clear. I did get a really random
  5. Hi guys, This past year I started breaking out only on my chin. They are usually cysts and I may have 1 or two. They usually leave a scar, which really bums me at the moment. Any treatment ideas? I'm 34 and never broke out in this area before. Any ideas why? Not sure if it's an age thing. I'm female. Thanks!
  6. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and
  7. I'm a 32 year old Asian male who had severe cystic acne in the late teens and early 20's. I developed some large keloid scars (abnormal scars that keep on growing beyond the original wounds) on the chest and shoulders. I took accutane, which worsened my acne initially but cleared me up for a few years and I remained mostly clear until my late 20s and my acne started worsening again. In december 2015, I noticed some of my "jawline cysts" seemed very persistent and have been their for mo
  8. The Dermatologist I saw today was really nice. He is my named one, but not who I saw last time. He gave me quite a lot of useful information. I mentioned first the red scars. He said it isn't scarring but actually the skin redness described in the information leaflet, a listed side effect. I assumed that would be full face redness but apparently this is what it refers to. He said when I finish the medication it will fully go and fairly quick. I showed him my face and told him that it has just
  9. So, I start week 12 tomorrow and I feel like my skin is staring to get the Accutane dry that everyone talks about. There is certainly an increase in dryness on my face now. I do have loads of red marks that are bad but at least some of the lumpiness has gone down a bit. It is my cheeks that are still the worst area and I am still getting new spots daily. I see the Derm on Tuesday.
  10. Hi! I'm 20 years old and I've been struggling with acne since middle school. Several months ago my skin was starting to clear up and now I keep getting cysts on my forehead for some reason. Any ideas on how to stop this? I've always struggled with them throughout the years but usually they aren't this prevalent.
  11. From the album: retin-a micro: worth the wait? I took a picture of my face every week for 4 months

When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pr

  12. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau
  13. I feel like I am constantly moaning so have decided I am not going to post another update until I see an improvement. Things are still the same, bad. I have like this three headed huge cyst thing in between my eyes and still have fresh things appearing every day, some of which are huge painful and under the skin. I still have to pop them due to how nasty they look. My make-up is now going on worse and my hair is dry. I actually think this is the worst I have ever looked and am starting to get p
  14. Everyday it gets bigger and more painful. I let my husband squeeze it yesterday now it its even worse. To thr touch it feels like a huge bruise but thr actual cyst part is very hard. How can I reduce swelling and get rid of this at home?
  15. When I said my skin was the worst it has been in years, it's worse now. The cheek that wasn't as bad has started up. I have a massive thing in between my eyebrows and one on the side of my forehead. There is nothing to do but carry on.
  16. Just when I think things might be looking up, I come out in about five massive, huge, painful, under the skin lumps. Seriously now, I will be amazed if this actually does work for me. I will be honest, the doubt is creeping in.
  17. Lamasil works. I'm 29, always had acne prone skin but under control for 6 years. Then suddenly all hell broke loose. Condition: angry red acne along jaw, sides of forehead, nose, checks, upper neck, chest. Every day more even when I used methods that had worked in the past. A number of small pin pick whiteheads and darker spots. History : 4th month on birth control. No new products or foods. Treatment: nothing else was working and it was a bit itchy so I used lamasil. The next m
  18. Dear acne sufferers, If you haven't already tried taking a zinc supplement for your acne, then you must start now! Here's why: * There is a summary at the bottom of this post for those who don't want to read the whole thing. I have suffered with acne for years. Not severe acne, fortunately, but with moderate acne that just never seemed to respond to any form of treatment. Trust me, I've tried it all (except for Accutane). It nearly makes me sick to my stomach to think about the exorbita
  19. I got a cortisone shot for a cystic pimple on the side of my nose yesterday. After 24 hours, I noticed a small head on the cyst when I woke up and I tried to pop it but not much happened. It's still there and now I just hope I didn't ruin the effectiveness of the cortisone shot. Has anyone ever popped a pimple after getting an injection and did it still go away fast or did I mess up?
  20. This is my second post after not receiving much help. I'm hoping to find someone else who is experiencing what's been happening with my treatment. Ive been on a benzoyl peroxide 10% clindamycin topical cream for almost 10 years. It's always made my acne improve, but never completely go away. I've also been on minocycline for 10 years, although less consistent as I saw the most improvement from the topical cream alone. Now at age 25, my skin is breaking out pretty badly again. I upped my do
  21. I have decided to update a little less often due to the fact that it will be really long if I keep doing updates every day. Things are still the same as the other day, no improvements, fresh spots as others are clearing up. That huge lump on my chin seems to want to stay there. Can't believe there has been no improvement at all in that one. Just a waiting game really.
  22. The dryness on my nose has gone, in fact, most of my dryness has gone but I don't feel oily like I used to. The flaky skin has stopped. My eyes feel dry when I wake up but a few drops of eye drops and they are fine for the day. My skin has got progressively worse over the time I have been on Roaccutane so far. The majority of spots/pimples are the huge painful cysts that come from deep down under the skin. There has been a reduction on the closed comedones and clogged pores, I do spent quite a b
  23. I have been on a healthy eating kick since about January and have lost about 30lbs since then. That being said, I was on a mini vacation this last Thurs-Monday and I was NOT good at all lol.. between eating JUNK and drinking a lot of alcohol my body freaked out. Not only did I run into stomach issues but my chin broke out too. It affected me more than I thought it would! I had these five huuuuge cyst/nodules on my face in the MIDDLE of a bachelorette weekend. And of course I was picking at them
  24. Today my skin is much drier. I have a sore eczema type patch all down my right arm which I have read is common. My hands have got better now though. My face is very dry but I am happy it feels like the breakouts are drying out a lot. There are a few new spots but they don't feel as big, painful and angry as they have been. I got some Estee Lauder double wear foundation (shade bone) yesterday as I have heard some fantastic reviews on it, and a lady whose YouTube videos I watched who was als
  25. No changes here, my skin is still disgusting and crap and shameful. Spots seem to be taking ages to heal so that's rubbish too.
