  1. Week 6 -20mg split dose and dianne 35 birth control No new cysts! Definitely had spots that would have turned into cysts before but they were gone the next day. I'm hopeful this continues but scared to be hopeful because if I end up getting cysts again I will be devastated. It is quite interesting to see the changes in skin on a daily basis. A couple little spots pop up one day but are gone the next. My skin continues to be quite dry and flaky and so I have decided to very gently exfoliate ev
  2. I have nothing to report....well, that is actually what this post is about. It's been 8 months since I finished my last course of antibiotics and with nightly use of Benzac benzoyl peroxide (only on my mouth & chin area) my skin has remained clear. I have had the occasional spot over the last 8 months but nothing big or distressing. The longest I've been able to go without antibiotics (in recent years) is just 4 months, so having doubled it is a big milestone. I *think* that the continued ni
  3. Hi all, I have had perfect skin all my life until I turned 39! Yes, I got older and spottier! I am 40 now and for the last year I have had red, rash like spots all over my cheeks and jawline. At certain times they are worse than others but they NEVER disappear! I have a healthy diet and exercise regularly. I have tried apple cider toner, tea tree oil, jojoba oil, raw honey masks and African black soap but nothing is working so far. Would love to find a natural remedy if possible. Can anyone hel
  4. I've been desperate to get help on this forum for the past two months and no one has answered me. I have moderate-severe acne that I believe is hormonal but I honestly have no idea what is going on with my skin or my body, I am losing faith in all of these methods and attempts to figure my skin out and it is worsening my depression. I can't leave the house without makeup and am severely self conscious. My situation: I had been using tretinoin 0.025 and benzo-clin (some sort of benzoyl peroxi
  5. I wanted to post two pics-one with bad lighting and one with good lighting. Lately, things have been ok. My face is still scarred, but I'm trying to get over it. I try not to look but it's like the mirror is always calling, and I constantly want to take pics in different lighting to see if it's "that bad" (it is). Enjoy!
  6. Hi! So I've posted on here once before talking about how I "cured" my acne (or so I thought) with the following skincare routine: Burts Bees peach scrub, Diluted Apple Cider Vinegar toner, Go Green serum by Mojo Spa (Chicago local), and the Origins Ginzing mouisturizer. While I had no big red angry spots while I was using this routine, my skin texture was terrible. My cheeks were super bumpy and if you caught me in the wrong light it was really bad. I decided it was because I was over exfoliatin
  7. Has anyone experienced this using the Caveman Regime before? Background.. I was on Accutane twice when I was a teenager.. Cleared my skin up beautifully. Since having kids I began breaking out again on and off... (hormonal) Since I stopped nursing the breakouts returned but I had them under control a natural regime of gentle natural cleanser, diluted apple cider vinegar toner and tea tree oil as a spot treatment. Recently I decided I was done being a prisoner to all these remedies and felt like
  8. Ok, this is going to be a long post so bear with me, please. I am desperate for help. I am 27 years old and back in school so I have no insurance and can't see a dermatologist. In August, I decided to switch from Rodan & Fields Unblemished to TULA. I was wanting to get away from putting all of the harsh chemicals on my skin. I had extremely mild acne growing up and there really wasn't a need for me to be using the product. When I started using TULA I developed these small bumps around my
  9. Seriously losing the will to live with my acne. It’s a joke! I’ve had acne since I was 18 and I’m now 25 going on 26!!! I’ve tried literally everything and my only option left is accutane but I really really don’t want to go on it because I have a phobia of blood and needles so I couldn’t deal with the monthly blood test’s needed. I’ve used both benzoyl peroxide and Retinoids like Differen none have helped. I even went on the contraceptive pill to see if that helped and it didn’t
  10. Hi y'all, Over the last two months I've experienced extreme acne on my cheeks and chin. Since then I have done everything in the book: no cheese, no dairy, clean pillows, and reduced stress. It only seems like the acne has gotten worse. I have sensitive skin too, so most acne products seems to irritate my face. Any suggestions on what I can do/ use that'll get this all cleared up? Currently using SebaMed wash, and tret. cream and occassional clay masks. Also, I prefe. not to take any oral m
  11. Hey everyone, Just going to repost the description details in case anyone missed it and wanted the info: A few important details of my Accutane journey: 33 years old, 125pounds/56kg/ 5' 6" Starting off at 10mg Started taking Dianne 35 after realizing Alesse (which I started a few months ago) made my breakouts much much worse. Been suffering from hormonal cystic acne for just over 10 years now. At first it was a couple a year and progressively has gotten to the point whe
  12. Hello, I'm a 35-year-old male. I'm 6"1' and 196 lbs. I'm writing this with the hopes of helping others who might have or go through my situation which was and still is incredibly frustrating in the hopes of helping them. I have NEVER had acne in my life. I have always had a baby face, great skin. I never had acne as a teenager, few very light blemishes here and there, never a cyst or a nodule. It would hurt to wash my face. Then I got them on the right side of my face, 2 spots t
  13. My acne which used to be on the right side of my face has now switched to the left. I have stopped taking oral contraceptives so expected some relapse of my skin but I feel that it is different and worse than before. Any advice for treatment (not hormonal even though this has been all that has worked in the past). Currently using eucerin regime for approx 3 weeks but acne has probably got worse in this time.
  14. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he
  15. ok - so nearly 2 weeks at 40mg of isotretinoin. not much to report really. Still have dry skin on my hairline, temples, around my nose and on my chin, but its not too bad. Lips are dry, but not overly so. I have picky eyes at the moment, and a couple of tiny styes on the lower lash line, they are a bit irritating, but not horrible. I do get a streak of blood when I blow my nose, but nothing to write home about. Yesterday i thought i was starting to break out, had a few small spots on my right
  16. Day 10 - wow... things are going well on 40mgs a day. My dryness seems to have settled and is mostly on my chin area with a little around my nose and at my temples. Lips are dry, but not overly so, no splitting or cracking. My face is red and is deffo sun sensitive! The skin on my back is still bumpy, but smooth, not rough like it was before. It feels much better. Still no breakout, but I am not getting complacent as it will happen at some point I am sure. I went to our local pharmacy on Th
  17. So day 7 - the first week is done! Facial skin is dry and flaky, but manageable. Head is itchy, but that due to the dryness. I have a simple Aqueous cream that I am using at the moment and that seems to be ok. I have tube in work and a big tub at home. I put it on 5-6 times a day at the moment. I have the feeling that my chin is going to break out something really bad. Its itching deep inside and I can feel the spots/cysts forming. I hope they are not as bad as they feel, but will let you k
  18. I have always had clean skin until April of this year that I started getting cystic acne. I don't know what's causing it I just know that I have tried so many things and none of them work. I went to the dermatologists who's injected me with about 8 cortisone shots this year alone and the cystic acne keeps coming back in the same places. I have to pay out of pocket at the dermatologist office and its getting so expensive. He gave me tretinoin cream, veltin, and a spray that smells like chlorine
  19. I don't know how I'm supposed to keep this up... I just finished my first year of college, finishing summer break and heading back for sophomore year soon. I'm not ready for a lot of things but I'm especially unprepared to have to deal with wearing makeup every day. Last year, I wore makeup everyday (to hide my acne duh) and it got so tiring. Even on weekends and days off, because I was too embarrassed to even let my roommates see my face. It added +20 minutes to my mornings and evenings to
  20. I just want to vent out. Sorry for my bad english(not my 1st language). I thought I can make it 21days without fruits as it is the only food in my diet which may cause insulin spikes but I have only managed 5days without it. I'm gonna try again today but a part of me wants to give up. Acne has been controlling my life since I was 18. I'm 26 now. I've given up dairy long time ago, grains(wheat/gluten) too. All I'm eating now are lean meat and vegetables. I take supplements too. I have old
  21. I am a 35-year old woman who has suffered with acne since the age of 17. I was a late-bloomer, an athlete, and an emotional basket-case. I was super skinny. I did well in school. Today, I am successful in my career as a counselor and behavior analyst. Anyone on the outside looking in might think my life is great. The only thing missing in most ppl's minds would be a husband/child/family. What most people don't know is how miserable I am. I have fought to get rid of my acne and discover the so
  22. So I'm nearing the end of my first month on accutane (dosage 30mg; start date 06/27/17). My symptoms are manageable. Dryness (eyes, skin, inside of my nose, hair/scalp), slightly ache-y (mild back aches in the morning, some headaches; dependent on my water intake), random heartburn. The perks of it all is for the first time in a long time I can go a while without washing my hair (longest gone is 6 days, probably could go longer). My only downside so far is how much hair I'm loosing ☹️. I probabl
  23. Hi....im 26 and been suffering from light acne on and off since my teens....i thought it would have stopped by now but no luck so far....i think its my hormones mainly so I've been on Yasmin for just over a year and i use bp 5-10% every night without fail. These light breakouts seam to be pretty continuous and new pimples appear daily. Im aware that it's mild and may look like nothing so some people but it still has shattered my self esteem. It's pretty much non existent at this point..anyone el
  24. Hello I have been using the regimen for about 7 months now and it has worked pretty well so far. Last week, I suddenly started breaking out on the right side of my face. I have a lot of active breakouts currently. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary for this to happen, but it is all over the right side of my face. Still continuing the regimen, but wondering if anyone could provide more guidance or reasoning behind this to avoid future occurrences.
  25. Please help me find some relief! I have NEVER had acne like this even though I've been struggling with adult acne for about 3 years. Usually I only get hormonal cystic acne on my chin and a couple spots on my forehead (I also have Rosacea but don't think this acne is related to that). But about a month a half a half ago I started getting huge breakouts on both cheeks (see photos). They are now so near the surface under thin scabs, with blood and pus, which means i can't wash my face without the
