  1. Here goes: My Acne Saga. Hi, my name is Olena. I first got Acne before I turned 13, and it persisted well into adulthood. I was only able to clear it up about 10 years later. That’s ten years of pimples… Ugh… Acne is the worst. You may be the smartest, most logical, level-headed person out there with the best personality, but when your face looks like a red pus-filled minefield you can’t help but feel inadequate…And I felt inadequate. I hated people looking at me, especially
  2. Hi guys, I went through a bad bout of acne in the summer and finally got rid of it in the fall. Before Christmas I bought revlon 24hr colour stay foundation and within days my acne was back and worse. A few weeks later I bought Annabelle matte foundation and once again broke out. These are all oil free, hypo allergenic and non comedogenic foundations. does anyone have suggestions for the best foundation for acne prone sensitive skin?
  3. So thanks to the GI problems I started having my doctor has put me off all medications except one that I'm taking to help fix my GI. Until that's resolved she told me she I can't try a new birth control or any other oral medication. I'm having an EDG on the 9th which will hopefully tell me what exactly is wrong. The specialist I saw thinks it could be both an ulcer and acid reflux, which someone else also said could have possibly come from being on birth control and also taking a ton of advil fr
  4. Ok so I am in the midst of crisis and any kind of help or ideas would help. So I am 39 and have always had a fairly good complexion. No major problems with acne, not even as a teenager. About 3 months ago I started getting this big deep, subcutaneous lumps. One or two at first. I kept to my rutine thinking it must just be almost that time of the month. Within a week or so of the first my entire right cheek was covered i cystic acne and a forehead full of big, fat whiteheads! I freak out, which p
  5. What I mean by cure is a real cure, no medicine, no special washing or regimen. Just normal everyday stuff. A little background. I've had acne for 20 years. It started at seventeen. I'm now almost thirty-seven. When I was younger, I got on the pill, orthotrycyclen. My acne went away completely but as soon as I got off the pill, it came back even worse. I also tried differin gel, erythromycin, retin A and proactiv. They would cease working after about two years so I had to rotate products. Af
  6. So I went off birth control (ortho tri cyclen) back in October due to lots of problems with it like severe migraines, pains, bloating, horrible mood swings, etc. one of the only things I liked about it was glowing beautiful skin. About a month or so after going off my skin broke out horribly and got super oily. After talking about it on another forum and seeing a doctor I was given Yaz to try. Today was the first Sunday after my period I took the pill and pretty much had immediate regret along w
  7. Hi everyone, I'm a 29 year old male who's struggled with acne for over half my life. Over the last decade I've used the following: a slew of oral antibiotics, topical treatments (Tretinoin, topical antibiotics, Duac, Ziana, etc.), 3 rounds of Accutane, and other herbal treatments like Acnease and Clearetto. My acne isn't severe anymore, but I consistently get breakouts in the *same exact area*: the area below the corners of the mouth (picture attached for reference). This seems like a case of
  8. I just saw my derm two days ago and she said it's time for accutane. I took my first pregnancy test yesterday and I'll see her Feb. 3 for a follow up and to start the pills. I'm so excited but also nervous. I have bad cystic acne - mostly on my chin, sometimes on my forehead and between my eyes. My skin is also SUPER oily. Two hours after doing makeup I will be dabbing tons of oil off my face. I definitely think Accutane will help but my derm did say in adult acne she sees some people who have t
  9. I've been meaning to create a post like this for awhile. As someone who has suffered from stubborn cysts and blind pimples for years, I've managed to research and discover many remedies to these annoying and painful problems. I know first hand how awful it is to get this type of acne, so I hope someone can find use out of some of these suggestions. Everyone's skin is different so good luck finding what works for your skin. Below are several methods I have personally used or have read about.
  10. I need advice--please try and make it through this long post: I have been on Retin- A micro gel .08(using it 3 times a week) and clindamycin topical solution of 3 months. My Skin is still breaking out. It didn't purge when I first started but for the 2 last month its been bad. I don't think it has gotten any worse this month but it hasn't gotten much better(though my dermatologist thinks it has haha).I have only ever had hormonal acne my whole life but this past year, I started getting mor
  11. My skin now is the worst it's been in 6 years. Being as vain as I am it's actually pretty traumatic and I've been finding excuses not to leave the house. Having taken a (9 month?) course of isotretinoin (Roaccutane, Accutane) when I was 14 or so I've been more or less acne-free for a long time, until literally a few months ago when, slowly but surely, they starting cropping up out of nowhere. I suspect that because they're concentrated around my chin and, when I'm PMSing, my jawline, t
  12. Hey everyone, I'm new to this so apologies if this has already been discussed. So some history - I've always struggled with acne! I was put on Dianette and then moved to Yasmin after about a year and my skin was amazing! Then 6-8 months ago my doctor moved me off of Yasmin as she said she thought that was why I was getting headaches (turned out I just dehydrate easily). She put me on Cerrazette and then I was put on Cilleste. Worst decision of my life! My skin went from being lovely to
  13. Attached are pictures of my skin from different angles, the first handful are without makeup, right after a shower and the last few are with makeup in bright lighting... these were super upsetting for me to see and realize even my makeup can't cover up this issue. Ive been struggling, and I mean STRUGGLING with acne since I've been 16 years old. I'm now 26, and it's STILL. HERE. In my teenage years, I tried every prescription medication/cream/gel you can imagine, except accutane (I was alw
  14. I started thinking that maybe my last post was a little spammy so I'm just gonna say real quick that I am in no way affiliated with Clarisonic or any distributor. I've been lusting after one for about a year now and scored a good Black Friday deal lol so that being said - DANG! It has been so cool and dry in SoCal lately, my skin will not stop looking red and peeling! I don't want to kick Triretnoin from my regimen so I decided I'm going to back off the Clarisonic a little bit and only do it
  15. I am 22 about to turn 23 years old... and still have acne... I have tried everything from drastically changing my diet to using Acutane to drinking soooo much water, but still does not help the acne. I still get acne all the time although I have stuck to my diet hoping one day it will just go away! I have very oily skin and I assume that my sebum production levels are through the roof or my testosterone is through the roof as well... I am not sure what to think. I have started taking vitamin
  16. So I just tried my Mia 2 for the first time in the shower this morning... I applied my Avar Sulfur wash straight to the brush and got down to business. It was interesting, I think it'll take a few tries for me to really get the hang of it but here's how I approached it: Started on my chin and worked my way around clockwise - I wanted the worst/greasiest part of my acne on the left side of my face to be last so I didn't spread it around on my face. I noticed after my face felt incredibly soft.
  17. Hi everybody! Ive been dealing with a large amount of cheek acne for a little over a year and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions in getting rid of it. I'm 23 and just started getting acne about a year ago. As a teenager I really only had a zit every once in a while. It's quite upsetting because it really makes me feel self conscious and insecure and I'm afraid that it will scar. It came out of no where so I don't really know the exact cause. In looking at

  19. Hi Everyone, I am a 38 year old male suffering from lifelong severe treatment resistant acne. I have decided to try a six month course of treatment with Isotretinoin. I will be documenting my journey on video and you are welcome to follow my progress. Wish me luck! Video Diary
  20. Tomorrow's food/regimen will be (I have veeeeery limited food options for certain reasons...): On face: Lotion, makeup (I'll check which kind I use tomorrow)Breakfast: Wheat toast and peanut butter Apple Snack: Banana Lunch: Carrots Hummus Apples Snack: Raw almonds Dinner: Salad (non dairy dressing) Cooked vegetable of some type Wash face with Purity Cleanser, some Nivea lotion (keep it simple, no picking...which I already did tonight. Ugh.) Anyway, I'm t
  21. Hello everyone! I'm on day 98 of Spiro, today makes exactly 14 weeks. I got super discouraged on Saturday because my skin looked terrible. My left cheek was so red and irritated that it was all I thought about all day. So I've been trying to drink lots and lots of water and be extra gentle when I wash my face. Yesterday morning I used my Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and last night I used the Dove Sensitive Bar Soap and used my Clarisonic. After that, I used the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask that I ju
  22. Loging in for the first time in 6 years. And surprise, I'm still dealing with acne. But after reading my old posts I know I'm dealing with a very different type of acne than I did back in high school. Quick run down - My skin did look great for my senior prom. Now in the grand scheme of things, prom really wasn't that big of a deal and neither was that first date. I finished out my Actutane treatment and suffered from some pretty gnarly side effects that I won't ever willingly revisit. I continu
  23. I work night shift so I woke up about 3 pm today. I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom and to my surprise, there were no new pimples on my face. Which is SO rare! The left side of my cheek, that was covered completely in acne for the last 3 weeks, has healed up so much. November 10th will be three full months that I've been on Spiro. I'm trying not to be too hopeful, because I'm afraid my skin is just calming down and going to freak out again in a week or so. But I cannot help how excite
  24. So here's my story. I'm 22 years old and have been battling acne for about 4 years now. I had perfect skin up until my junior year of high school. It was nothing serious, but enough for me to tell my mom I wanted to get on birth control to see if it would help clear it up. (That was honestly just an excuse to get on BC then because I was in my first serious relationship.) So my gyno prescribed me the pill (I can't remember the name) and within a month or two I was a nightmare! I was emotional 24
