  1. how do u guys stop obsessing over your acne and letting it rule your life? It seams to be all I think about...i just want to forget. How do i stop it getting me so down. ? Love to all suffering
  2. This is my first time posting on this site even though I have been reading user posts for years and it has always helped me. I'm 30 and still break out. I've had periods of being relatively clear here and there, but pretty much ever since I was 18 I've had really sensitive, acne-prone skin. It was doing pretty well until the fall, when my stress levels were through the roof for personal and professional reasons and I wasn't sleeping. It began getting so bad that I finally saw a dermatologist for
  3. Hey all, i signed up on the org in the later part of this summer and i have to say the Community feel is amazing. Hearing the successes of others as well as the frustrations really make living with acne on a day by day basis much easier. I have finally gained the courage to post pictures of my acne and acknowledge that i am an adult with acne and it embarrasses the crap out of me and significantly affects my self esteem (i have loads of blackheads on my forehead and many disgusting whiteheads
  4. Hi I am a 37 year old female suffering from adult acne! !!!! I never had a spot on my face till I was 35. I did have some on my back but it never really bothered me. Anyway I am taking tetralysal 300 once a day and dianette once a day for 9months. No break and my skin is perfect. Not one spot. I am coming off it in a month to give my body a break and I am just wondering if there is any success storys? I've had no side affects and would happily stay on them. Just worried about the internal aff
  5. The area looks inflamed, and kind of like a flat volcano with the red underneath and a semi think white cover. Please let me know, I did stop by the dermatologist for a facial extraction of whiteheads and blackheads and the dermatologist assistance said to make a appointment if I really wanted to ask the derm (very dumb and annoying since the derm was in the other room and would of taken 2 seconds of her day). Please help if you can....
  6. I guess I'll start with a little background about my skin. I started breaking out in the 11th grade, and I would consider it moderate. By the time I started college, my skin was clear again and stayed that way until with the exception of occasional minor breakouts. Once I reached 24, however, my skin just started breaking out more and more. I sought the help of a dermatologist who prescribed Retin-A Micro .04%. I had a terrible initial breakout, but I was perfectly clear by the third month. It s
  7. Looking for some advice on accutane. I am a 27 year old male. Have mild acne 1-2 pimples a week at most, nothing cystic at all. However, it comes and it goes and all the other treatments do treat it and it gets better. However, it comes back. BP seems to work the best. I have tried everything though, you name it. I have had it for 10 years. But again it's mild. Sometimes I don't get a zit for a few weeks, I know it could be worse believe me, but it does really bother me like everyone else. I wen

Adult Acne And I Don't Know Why

So I'm 25, female. I used to have acne when I was younger and going through puberty and then I went on birth control and it started to get better. Still broke out, but it wasn't too bad. I still used spot treatments and face washes--so when I was around 19 it was really good. Then I decided to get off the pill around age 22 because I didn't want to be on it anymore--seemed scary to be on it so long. So when I turned 23 my best friend died and soon after my fiancé dumped me and then the awfu

    Postpartum Acne :(

I have been an acne sufferer since puberty. It got even worse when I started college, and my acne became moderately severe. I have tried lots of things with little success. I discovered The Regimen a few years back and follow it religiously, and it has helped. It became light to moderate acne, depending on the time of the month (I especially got flareups around my period and two weeks later during ovulation). Then I got pregnant and my skin looked amazing! My skin has NEVER been that
  10. So far, I have eliminated all my cysts and nodules. I started the Regimen during the worst outbreak I have had in months. I had a massive, pus filled cyst deep under the skin with multiple heads--gross. In 2 days, it was gone. I am still shocked and proceeding cautiously before celebrating. I had my acne improve after going on retinoids only to have the cysts return so I am holding my breath. But there is no sign on new cysts. There are have been a few pimples but they have cleared up quickly. I

    Help With Stubborn Adult Acne

I always have or wake up to tiny bumps under my skin mostly on my forehead. They aren't often white heads. You can't see it that well but I have a ton of blackheads. So I don't know what to do. I used to use benzoyl peroxide but my skin is too dry now and they're under the skin. I've just been using baby soap now. I am starting to get lines as well so what product should I use? I can't afford to see a dermatologist.

    Lightstim For Adult Acne

I am considering buying the Lightstim for acne. My skin texture is ruined from over-applying a product a few years ago. I am prematurely aging. It seems the Lightstim for acne helps with skin texture as well as acne. Has anyone found that the Lightstim for acne is drying at all? I read once that blue LED lights can dry skin, but I can't seem to find that information anymore.

    Accutane Again?

Why, hello. SO I have a decision to make and I'd love to hear the opinions of others... First, a little about myself- I'm 25 years old and have dealt with mild to moderate acne since high school. When I was 18 I went on Minocycline for about 9 months- it totally cleared me up for freshman year at college! BUT... it came back the next summer. This time, I think maybe a little worse. To this day I am still afraid to go back on antibiotics because it seems a common theme that antibiotics not

    Scarring or hyperpigmentation?

I wanted an outsiders opinion...is this a scar? And, if so, what type? What sorts of treatment would you recommend? I have had this spot now for a little over a month. :(
  15. Hello all, I'm new to this site and thought I would give you a little background. I'm 26, turning 27 this month and have been suffering from acne for almost a year. It's taken a huge emotional toll on my life and I am missing school and social functions because of it. I have been creeping the boards for awhile and finally decided to join in hopes of getting some more personal advice from the acne.org members. I don't have a family doctor and have been pretty much dealing with this on my own

    Acne on chin area only

Hi guys, This past year I started breaking out only on my chin. They are usually cysts and I may have 1 or two. They usually leave a scar, which really bums me at the moment. Any treatment ideas? I'm 34 and never broke out in this area before. Any ideas why? Not sure if it's an age thing. I'm female. Thanks!

    33 And Horrid Bacne

I'm near my mid thirties and for the first time in my life I have bacne. I've always had mild-moderate acne on my face but never on my back, and to a lesser extent my chest. I've never had acne look like this either. Each pimple has a large radiating redness, and the whiteheads are both huge and bubble outwards (think bubble wrap). I don't want to pick at it, and I can't reach it, making bras, shoulder bags, a firm back pat, etc. both dangerous and painful. I've had a few blouses ruined already.
  18. This will be my first time posting here. I'm 37 years old, living in Arizona. Let's start at the beginning. I have had ongoing acne since I was 12 or 13, I was an early bloomer, so I got it pretty young. I have always had very oily skin. My acne got worse through Jr. High and High School and calmed a bit as I grew older, but it has still always been there, some days worse than others. When it was pretty bad in Jr. High, I remember trying a topical, that just burned my face, it was awful
  19. Hi all, I’ve been reading lots on this site recently and it’s really helped me feel like I’m not alone in my struggle with acne as someone in their mid-twenties (25), though it feels like everyone around me has perfect skin and I never grew out of the teenage phase! I wondered if anyone has any good tips for products/regimes that have helped with extremely sensitive skin? To give you an idea, if I scratch/rub even the smallest area of my skin anywhere on my body, it will be bright red for a

    Epiduo and Solodyn

Hey everyone, I am currently on Epiduo and 65 mg of Solodyn once a day. I started Epiduo about 8 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I went back to the dermatologist and that is when they gave me the 65mg of Solodyn. My skin right now is awful, I have at least two new pimples every day. I called the dermatology office and they said that it was most likely caused by the Epiduo and that it was bringing all the dirt and stuff to the surface and that if can take up to 3 months for it to start clearing up
  21. Hello All, So most of my life i have never really had any problems with acne, however for the past year or so i have been struggling with it on my forehead. I have been on creams, face washes, etc for quite awhile and have recently tried lemon juice overnight (however to no real improvement). I am very active which includes working out & running or doing something of that nature everyday and being outside. I have gotten into the habit of washing my face with dove (facial soap) everyda
  22. Hey everyone I'm looking for some advice. I'm at the end of my ropes. I'm a 22 year old female who has struggled with acne since I was ten. I get a little bit of everything which is why I think it's been so hard to tackle. I've been to several different derms and tried a million different things excluding accutane. Up to date I've tried several different kinds of birth control (currently on orthotricyclen), antibiotics, creams, gels, washes, diets, natural remedies, chemical peels, extract
  23. Yes, you heard me. 8. The tender innocent age of 8. Before puberty, during puberty, after puberty. My father had it, my mother STILL has it. I have it everywhere: face, neck, chest, back, butt, legs, arms. I've tried everything: ProActiv, AcneFree, Accutane, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, EVERYTHING. It has prevented me from wearing clothes I like, bathing suits I like, etc. It is one of the many reasons I battle anxiety and depression. I've never been intimate with anyone. Makeup cau

    IUD (Mirena) and acne

I haven't written in a chat forum since middle school, so bear with me... In July of 2016, I switched from my birth control patch to Mirena, the IUD. I had ZERO problems with the patch, it was just kind of unsightly and annoying. Almost immediately after insertion of the IUD I started noticing my forehead breaking out. I was also in the middle of moving to a new state and starting a graduate program, so I attributed it to that stress. It's now been 4 months and I'm all settled in, but the bre
  25. My questions is:how often should I use my clairisonic? Once a day (morning or night) or twice a day? Also how many time a week? Thanks for your help.
