  1. Hello all, I am so sick of getting clear skin, regaining my life and confidence and then having it all go to shit because of my acne. I am 30 years old and feel like acne has played a huge role in my breakups because I slowly change as my acne gets worse and worse. I become someone other than the guy they first met and fell for--who I really am. When I am clear I am totally confident, love to go out and be in front of people, smile, laugh, and love who I am. I may get the occasional pimpl

    Accutane Again?

Why, hello. SO I have a decision to make and I'd love to hear the opinions of others... First, a little about myself- I'm 25 years old and have dealt with mild to moderate acne since high school. When I was 18 I went on Minocycline for about 9 months- it totally cleared me up for freshman year at college! BUT... it came back the next summer. This time, I think maybe a little worse. To this day I am still afraid to go back on antibiotics because it seems a common theme that antibiotics not
  3. Hello All, So most of my life i have never really had any problems with acne, however for the past year or so i have been struggling with it on my forehead. I have been on creams, face washes, etc for quite awhile and have recently tried lemon juice overnight (however to no real improvement). I am very active which includes working out & running or doing something of that nature everyday and being outside. I have gotten into the habit of washing my face with dove (facial soap) everyda

Adult Acne And I Don't Know Why

So I'm 25, female. I used to have acne when I was younger and going through puberty and then I went on birth control and it started to get better. Still broke out, but it wasn't too bad. I still used spot treatments and face washes--so when I was around 19 it was really good. Then I decided to get off the pill around age 22 because I didn't want to be on it anymore--seemed scary to be on it so long. So when I turned 23 my best friend died and soon after my fiancé dumped me and then the awfu
  5. Hello all, I'm new to this site and thought I would give you a little background. I'm 26, turning 27 this month and have been suffering from acne for almost a year. It's taken a huge emotional toll on my life and I am missing school and social functions because of it. I have been creeping the boards for awhile and finally decided to join in hopes of getting some more personal advice from the acne.org members. I don't have a family doctor and have been pretty much dealing with this on my own

    Week 8

Week 8 - 20mg split does and dianne-35 birth control pill I got so fed up with my dry skin that I got all new products. I got a serum and another intense moisturizer plus a very gentle exfoliator that I have been using when needed (usually every other day). I have noticed a big positive difference in my skin and it's too much of a coincidence with the new products. My skin is now more plump and soft and the tiny bumps went away. I have not noticed any breakout associated with moisturizing and
  7. I had perfect skin nearly all of my life. However; the past two years I've had one or two cysts pop up on my chin each month. They take forever to heal and always leave a scar. It's progressively gotten worse over the last few months. I currently have 3 cysts on my chin, whiteheads on my chin and nose, a few bumps on my cheek; and a cyst between my eyebrows. This might sound dramatic, but for someone with previously great skin, this is a nightmare. I'm on a new birth control to help the acne
  8. Hi all! New user here I recently turned 26 and started to break out along my jaw line and my upper neck. I never have broken out like this before and I am looking for any advice to treat it. Also, does this warrant a trip to a dermatologist? Or should I be able to control it over the counter? Thanks!
  9. I'm about to start Roaccutane after having persistent moderate acne for 23 years. But what if I've just being doing everything wrong until now? I just had a look at The Regimen - I have been much rougher with my skin, even when I thought I was being gentle, and I also didn't allow time before or after putting on BP whenever I have used it. I have also realised that my daily face sunscreen has alcohol in it (Phenethyl Alcohol). Though I still get body acne, so this couldn't be the main ca

    Introduction

The woman in my mid 30s who had always had very good skin until about 30. I have tried everything it started with Clinique and proactive and Dermalogica then Bocia, Avene, la Roche, dove, simple, spectro, Aleppo soap and on and on and on. I've discovered the awful truth about moisturizer. And that is, once you start using it it changes the way that your skin produces see them forever. A Swedish scientist recently discovered that using moisturizer actually makes your skin worse: http://www.

    33 And Horrid Bacne

I'm near my mid thirties and for the first time in my life I have bacne. I've always had mild-moderate acne on my face but never on my back, and to a lesser extent my chest. I've never had acne look like this either. Each pimple has a large radiating redness, and the whiteheads are both huge and bubble outwards (think bubble wrap). I don't want to pick at it, and I can't reach it, making bras, shoulder bags, a firm back pat, etc. both dangerous and painful. I've had a few blouses ruined already.

    Can't Find A Cure

hi there ! I'm kind of at a loss at what to do about my acne, I feel like I've tried everythung but nothing is a constant fix. I'm a 23 yr old female. my face is super clear on my forehead, cheeks, and t zone. but my chin is a DISASTER. I am on birth control (so I'm sure this is hormonal for the most part). I'll currently have 2 large deep spots on my lower chin, and about 5 small whiteheads that are very tiny but are in clusters on each side of my chin. I started with BP a month ago, it ha
  13. I have struggled for the past 2 years with adult acne. It is mostly around my mouth and chin, and a little on my cheeks. I've made the mistake of picking and touching my face more than I should have which has caused marks on my face. It's been very frustrating. It's time to figure out my acne once and for all. Once I get my active acne under control I plan to talk with a plastic surgeon about removing the acne scars and marks. But, first things first, I need to control my active acne. Over t
  14. So far, I have eliminated all my cysts and nodules. I started the Regimen during the worst outbreak I have had in months. I had a massive, pus filled cyst deep under the skin with multiple heads--gross. In 2 days, it was gone. I am still shocked and proceeding cautiously before celebrating. I had my acne improve after going on retinoids only to have the cysts return so I am holding my breath. But there is no sign on new cysts. There are have been a few pimples but they have cleared up quickly. I
  15. I have had mild (Moderate if I go off birth control) since I was probably 18. The acne on my chest and back makes me the most self conscious. I have tried everything. My derm put me on accutane. I'm on day 7. But my question is this: I'm on 80mg/day. Doesn't that seem high??? For mild-moderate acne? I want to ask if he can lower my dose, but I don't know if you can switch mid-prescription. I'm also nervous that my aches/pains/liver damage will be worse since I"m older. Any thou
  16. Ok, so I haven't posted in a while as nothing much has been going on. I have kind of lost track of the days and weeks but I am in month 5 now and would say up until now I had no real noticeable improvement. I woke up the other morning and it seemed overnight things have significantly got better. My forehead is amazing seriously. The red marks I have have faded slightly and my skin seems smoother in general. Still some stubborn bits on my jawline and I had a bigish spot on my cheek that is just h

    Scarring or hyperpigmentation?

I wanted an outsiders opinion...is this a scar? And, if so, what type? What sorts of treatment would you recommend? I have had this spot now for a little over a month. :(
  18. I wanted to share my experience with you guys because I know how stressful and emotionally draining it is to constantly look for a cure. Now, I don't know if this will work for you since everyone has their own acne-cause, but this really worked for me. Some background: I'm 26 (F) and have had acne since I was 17. I never had any previous issues, I actually had really good porcelain skin. Then suddenly my skin just started breaking out little by little and by th time I was 20 I had painful

    Week 13

Week 13 - Just this week I started doing 20mg at night and 10 in the morning every other day and 10mg at night and 10mg in the morning the rest of the days. I hope to be at 30mg everyday within the next 2weeks. So this was the first month that I was cyst free! It felt amazing to go through Christmas and New Years holidays with a cyst free face! I am not sure if my antibiotics from my kidney infection and then for after my surgery helped bring cyst free cause after being off of them for a wee
  20. I have decided to update a little less often due to the fact that it will be really long if I keep doing updates every day. Things are still the same as the other day, no improvements, fresh spots as others are clearing up. That huge lump on my chin seems to want to stay there. Can't believe there has been no improvement at all in that one. Just a waiting game really.

    Day 187--Nothing New

This week is my lady week and along with it came one great big pimple on my left cheek. It hasn't really surfaced but it's red and it hurts.. Could also be because I was super tired on Saturday night and didn't properly wash my makeup off before bed (I used a wipey thingy though!). Other than that, I've been on the right path. You know, the one that EVENTUALLY leads to clear skin. Maybe I haven't been great at remembering to apply lip balm lately, because my lips have been so dry. Even drier
  22. Hey everyone I'm looking for some advice. I'm at the end of my ropes. I'm a 22 year old female who has struggled with acne since I was ten. I get a little bit of everything which is why I think it's been so hard to tackle. I've been to several different derms and tried a million different things excluding accutane. Up to date I've tried several different kinds of birth control (currently on orthotricyclen), antibiotics, creams, gels, washes, diets, natural remedies, chemical peels, extract

    I'm New :)

I am a 32 year old wife and mother of two. I work in healthcare administration. And I HATE that I am still plagued by acne. After years of stalking this website during my battle with acne, I finally decided to join. Here's a little bit about me and my struggle... I started getting mild acne around age 12...very typical of the age and I was convinced that I would grow out of it...my mother swore that I would. I used every remedy that was available at the local CVS to a pre-teen with nothi

    Acne Story

As a teenager I experienced a small pimple here and there, never anything cystic and never anything I would describe as acne. It wasn't until I turned 23 that my skin began having issues. I returned home from a family vacation with a pretty bad breakout. I tried over the counter products for a couple of months before I decided the breakout wasn't going away. I made an appointment with a dermatologist who took one look at my face (not a very close look) and told me that I had adult acne. Because
