  1. Hi everyone! I'm 21 years old (about to be 22 next month), no kids, and I'm getting desperate. I need some serious advice on how to get rid of this acne! So my story is: I got mirena inserted when I was 19, in 2011. It was inserted incorrectly and kept poking me! I started having weird mood swings, and after only a couple weeks I began to get this cystic acne all over my face. When I was younger, I used to get very MILD acne along my T-Zone. This was different though.. It was everywhere. My c

    3 isolaz day 23

    From the album: Isolaz+Laser Genesis

After awhile I feel like it's not getting much better because every time when I do Isolaz, all the active acne would be flatten for 2-3 days. After that new pimples emerge from the remaining close comedones. It's like a never ending cycle. Plus my skin scars really badly. I can't have this going on like this! I really need to find a solution for those closed comedones.

    Sudden Adult Cystic Acne

Hi Guys its been a while since i posted. As you can see in my previous posts i tried the caveman regimen and it did not work for me at all. my cistic acne on the right side of my face got worse. So i decided to visit the dematologist again. When she saw me she got so mad she basically started screaming at me asking me why didnt i follow the regimen she suggested. This happened the first week of December 2014. She decided to start me on a completly new regmen. First, That torture Facial I real

    Day One

    From the album: Tactupump/Tactuo (Epiduo)

    - Could be worse, but this is as bad as I've ever had it. Deduction lead to the root of the problem is the Mirena IUD I got inserted in early May, and aside from just getting the IUD removed, my doctor recommended using Tactupump (Tactuo/Epiduo), and here we are!
  5. Just wanted to drop by and share my experience with spiro. I’m 34 female who has been struggling with hormonal acne on my jawline(big cysts) on and off for years. I was nervous and skeptical about going on spiro for years despite being told my multiple dermatologists that’s what I needed to be on. I was scared of having an initial breakout and the hormonal changes it would bring. I had read many negative experiences on this site as well that made me delay going on it until 7 months ago when
  6. OK so.... I'm an idiot. Well, not really an idiot, but I honestly wonder why I did this to myself - and why I canNOT stop picking in a vengeful rage against my poor, poor face. I added extra glycolic acid to the parts that are in the picture as obviously red and messed up. The rest of my skin basically looks fine, though since cutting down to just 1G Pantothenic acid supplementing a day it is definitely getting oilier. Background info - I bought 70% Glycolic acid undiluted (extremely high pe
  7. From the album: retin-a micro: worth the wait? I took a picture of my face every week for 4 months

When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pr

  8. I want to start off by saying I am a 21 year old female. I have NEVER had a problem with acne before. As a teenager I might have had a couple zits here and there but never full blown acne. I started the depo shot when I was 20 after being on it for 9 months I noticed really bad breakouts that would come and go. My doctor said to try one more cycle (1 shot, 3 months) to see if it would go away. The acne got worse at the end of the three months I decided I HAD to do something else. He put me on qu
  9. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi
  10. I'm 21 years old and I've had clear skin for most of my life. Even when I ate junk food. Never really got serious acne in high school and barely did anything to my face, just water and body moisturizer or baby oil. Then came university. i started getting these pimples with large whiteheads all around my central chin. It was bad, it always occurred in the same spots and continued to get worse. It was so frustrating. On top of of that it scarred really really badly. Now I'm left with a circular r

60 Days of No Skin Picking

I have dealt with acne for the past 4-5 years (I am now 25). My acne started when I went off my birth control. I know some people go back on it to fix their acne again, but I was didn’t want to use a band-aid and I knew one day I would want to have kids so I bit the bullet. The first 2-3 years I believe the acne was my hormones adjusting, but this past year and a half I don’t get anything cystic and I notice my breakouts get really annoying once I’ve been on a picking spree and squeezing all of
  12. Hi Everyone, I am a 38 year old male suffering from lifelong severe treatment resistant acne. I have decided to try a six month course of treatment with Isotretinoin. I will be documenting my journey on video and you are welcome to follow my progress. Wish me luck! Video Diary
  13. Hello all! I feel like such a fair weather friend here. I've been a member for a long time, but I really only visit when I'm having a horrible time with my adult acne. Now is one of those times. It's not that I'm not grateful for this very helpful website...it's just that I'm a mom, a wife, a college student, and I work! Whew! Right now, I don't feel like leaving the house, my acne is so bad. My latest acne remission was my being on Epiduo for about a year. When the Epiduo stopped
  14. Hi guys, I'm currently in my third month of accutane at 70mg a day. To be honest, I've been having a pretty mild experience. I didn't get an IB, no dry skin, and my pores got smaller and my pimples stopped almost immediately. I SHOULD note that I don't have severe acne, I have moderate but VERY persistent adult acne, and my derm put me on accutane because absolutely nothing else was working on me. Anyway. Because of the Christmas break I've spent the past few weeks eating terribly and onc

  18. 7/20/14. I am 34 years old and I have always had clear skin... until 2 years ago when my acne came on strong, out of no where. I have tried so many OTC and prescription cleansers, lotions, toners, serums, multiple birth control pills, antibiotics, the list goes on. I'm so frustrated and embarrassed by my skin. I have read countless reviews on various acne products and finally today decided to purchase The Regimen plus jojoba oil. I can't wait for it to arrive. I'll update my log as my new skin c

  20. I should note that I haven't had any inflamed acne in years (just minor every now and then)- my problem is congestion & comedonal "blocks". The problem is pores which are constantly full of oil & gunk. They then are covered with dead skin cells, with no opening to be removed (crazy because I exfoliate no nobodys business!) Mainly forehead, hair line. I also get cysts (yay!) on my jaw and chin area (related to shaving for extreme hairy face). But regardless I will get them occasio
  21. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he
  22. Hi there. This is my second round of Accutane and I find myself wishing that I had a log from my first round (in 2009) to refer to. So starting this one to track my progress. I will try to keep it succinct as possible and plan to update at least weekly with photos. My main concerns: ability to continue weight training- already have pre-existing joint issues; dry skin and covering up IB for work; fatigue as I have two youngish kids (2&5) and work 12 hour shifts in the emergency department.
  23. Hello all, I am so sick of getting clear skin, regaining my life and confidence and then having it all go to shit because of my acne. I am 30 years old and feel like acne has played a huge role in my breakups because I slowly change as my acne gets worse and worse. I become someone other than the guy they first met and fell for--who I really am. When I am clear I am totally confident, love to go out and be in front of people, smile, laugh, and love who I am. I may get the occasional pimpl
  24. Sorry back all after my long hiatus, been busy. I've tried it all in terms of the major things for acne. I don't want Accutane...have had too many health issues and fish oil has just proved to make me sick. It works...sorta. It makes my acne worse and I've been on it this summer for a while. But it makes me insanely tired/headaches/eye pain and I stay nonfunctional for university etc. so my assumption is that Accutane would do the same unless it's easier on the liver ( ha apparently not likely f

    Can't Find A Cure

hi there ! I'm kind of at a loss at what to do about my acne, I feel like I've tried everythung but nothing is a constant fix. I'm a 23 yr old female. my face is super clear on my forehead, cheeks, and t zone. but my chin is a DISASTER. I am on birth control (so I'm sure this is hormonal for the most part). I'll currently have 2 large deep spots on my lower chin, and about 5 small whiteheads that are very tiny but are in clusters on each side of my chin. I started with BP a month ago, it ha
