  1. My acne which used to be on the right side of my face has now switched to the left. I have stopped taking oral contraceptives so expected some relapse of my skin but I feel that it is different and worse than before. Any advice for treatment (not hormonal even though this has been all that has worked in the past). Currently using eucerin regime for approx 3 weeks but acne has probably got worse in this time.
  2. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he
  3. I have always had clean skin until April of this year that I started getting cystic acne. I don't know what's causing it I just know that I have tried so many things and none of them work. I went to the dermatologists who's injected me with about 8 cortisone shots this year alone and the cystic acne keeps coming back in the same places. I have to pay out of pocket at the dermatologist office and its getting so expensive. He gave me tretinoin cream, veltin, and a spray that smells like chlorine
  4. Hello I have been using the regimen for about 7 months now and it has worked pretty well so far. Last week, I suddenly started breaking out on the right side of my face. I have a lot of active breakouts currently. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary for this to happen, but it is all over the right side of my face. Still continuing the regimen, but wondering if anyone could provide more guidance or reasoning behind this to avoid future occurrences.
  5. Hey guys. Im 32/F and have just started Spironolactone. Im only on 12.5mg because my doctor is being cautious as I have anorexia and my bp is already low and shes worried about it messing up my electrolytes as I usually have a problem with them being too low. But Id like to know if you guys think this amount will do anything. If my body handles this dosage, then in time she will up it to 25mg. Any thoughts will help!
  6. how do u guys stop obsessing over your acne and letting it rule your life? It seams to be all I think about...i just want to forget. How do i stop it getting me so down. ? Love to all suffering
  7. hi im starting epiduo gel today...wanted to know what are your experiences with this treatment. Im skeptical..been on bp for a long time but not doing much so thought I should try it with the retinoid and see what happens. Any help appreciated! Thanks x x x

  9. Hello everyone. New to these forums (I've visited them in the past but never posted.) 27 year old female with moderate acne (including cysts) on my face and back. X-posted most of this on the personal regimen logs but I know that's not the right place to ask questions, so that's why I'm posting here...My new regimen for Week 2 (2/21 - 2/27): Morning1. Cleanse2. Tone (I know most toners are a waste of $$, but she actually sells good toners with antioxidants and adds skin hydration, and I like th
  10. Hi guys, Ok so I'm back. To put a little story behind this thread, I've been using acne.org products since I was about 18/19 - I'm now 26. So back in my late teens, I had pretty horrific acne. I've suffered with rubbish skin since I was about 12, and it came and went over the years and I was prescribed a variety of topical things, all of which just kinda stopped working and I had to move on to the next thing. When I started using the acne.org BP, in conjunction with a new pill that I wa
  11. Gosh, I remember finding this site when I was struggling with my teenage acne 15 or so years ago. I just recently came across it again, as I am now 30 and my acne is flaring up. Some months and years have been better than others as with all who suffer from adult acne, but it just recently has become the worst it has ever been. I've tried it all - lots of BP regimens (but never Dan's). I used Proactiv for years did help a little, but nothing that stuck. For about 2 years now, I have been usi
  12. I don't know if this will work for you, but it helped me so I wanted to share hoping it can help someone else. I have struggled with acne for a long time. I'm 31 now and had success with Accutane in my mid teens and again at college age, then Spironolactone when I was in my mid twenties. Spironolactone was the best! Until it wasn't. It stopped working for me after 3 years. I was so disappointed, I thought I'd found the answer. I started getting cystic acne again and it was brutal. It was all
  13. I'm 21 years old and I've had clear skin for most of my life. Even when I ate junk food. Never really got serious acne in high school and barely did anything to my face, just water and body moisturizer or baby oil. Then came university. i started getting these pimples with large whiteheads all around my central chin. It was bad, it always occurred in the same spots and continued to get worse. It was so frustrating. On top of of that it scarred really really badly. Now I'm left with a circular r
  14. Hi all. So I was on accutane back in 2013 with great success. However, back in November I had a breakout that was a little worse than usual. I wasn't too worried because I tend to get these in a very minor form still a week or so before my time of the month. However, at the same I had been to see a doctor because I was having issues with painful periods, bad PMS etc and she recommended that if I wanted a natural solution I should try Evening Primrose Oil. I started taking these with grea
  15. I have gotten desperate here. First, a brief history for you all. I have always been on A.D.D medication, if that is relevant. My acne started when I hit puberty. It wasn't just normal teenage acne, it was the kind that shows up when you google "acne". At the age of 17, in complete desperation, I took Accutane for 10 months. My skin was PERFECT and my self esteem was higher than it had ever been. Age 19, my acne came back and worse than ever. I was put on my second course of Accutane. Once
  16. Hey there, been a long time reader and a five year adult acne sufferer. When I was a teenager I didn't have many pimples at all, but I was given the HORRIBLE advice that it was okay to pop them =( Fast forward to being an adult- late 20's and hormone changes and thinking it was okay to pop a zit.. and a terrible mess ensued. I've used- Proacive, Acne-Free (from the store), accutane, solodyn with clyndamiacin and adalapene gels, etc etc Finally, I stopped using everything on my fac
  17. Hi! I have always had an issue with blocked pores/blackheads rimming my entire lip line, now they have spread to my chin. They don't all look exactly like black heads, just a blocked pore with white gunk sticking out. Sometimes, my skin feels rough. I have been using Retin A for the last month and maybe this is getting worse because of the retin a bringing everything to the surface? I do exfoliate once or twice a week. I moisturize and still not much improvement. I have spent hours trying to e
  18. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and
  19. Hi everyone! I'm 21 years old (about to be 22 next month), no kids, and I'm getting desperate. I need some serious advice on how to get rid of this acne! So my story is: I got mirena inserted when I was 19, in 2011. It was inserted incorrectly and kept poking me! I started having weird mood swings, and after only a couple weeks I began to get this cystic acne all over my face. When I was younger, I used to get very MILD acne along my T-Zone. This was different though.. It was everywhere. My c
  20. I have now been 99% clear for three months! I had tried benzol peroxide many times before but had never stuck with it longer than a month due to severe dry skin and breakouts. This time I decided to give it a good go and it worked! Before this I had tried everything from antibiotics to Accutane a number of times, none had worked for long if at all. Please note that I have had acne for over 10 years and it has been a constant battle, I am not a young teen that has the odd breakout and finally
  21. 7/20/14. I am 34 years old and I have always had clear skin... until 2 years ago when my acne came on strong, out of no where. I have tried so many OTC and prescription cleansers, lotions, toners, serums, multiple birth control pills, antibiotics, the list goes on. I'm so frustrated and embarrassed by my skin. I have read countless reviews on various acne products and finally today decided to purchase The Regimen plus jojoba oil. I can't wait for it to arrive. I'll update my log as my new skin c
  22. Hey all! Wow... So I can't believe I'm back on this site 10 years after I signed up. Back in 2006 when the Acne.org Regimen didn't even exist. Crazy! Well, I'm 26 years old now and sad to say I'm still not finished with this whole acne thing. Shortly after I joined in 2006, I found a treatment that worked for me - birth control pills. It was obvious that my acne was hormonal (I had the painful cystic kind around my chin/mouth area) so BCP was the perfect solution for my skin. I have been cl
  23. Hi! I just created this log to see how my acne behaves and maybe help other people who have the same doubts about this type of birth control pill. I have moderate acne and I've tried to control it with natural things. I started taking them on April 10, they are called Gynorelle but are almost the same as Belara* and they have 2mg Chlormadidone acetate + 0.02mg Ethynilestradiol. The Chlormadidone Acetate is the antiandrogenic component and there's 24 active pills and 4 placebos. I'll post u
  24. Ok so I am in the midst of crisis and any kind of help or ideas would help. So I am 39 and have always had a fairly good complexion. No major problems with acne, not even as a teenager. About 3 months ago I started getting this big deep, subcutaneous lumps. One or two at first. I kept to my rutine thinking it must just be almost that time of the month. Within a week or so of the first my entire right cheek was covered i cystic acne and a forehead full of big, fat whiteheads! I freak out, which p
  25. Hello. I am in my 30's and have been on birth control for most of my life. I never had acne before other than a pimple here and there. last year I decided to stop taking birth control because I wanted to start a family and two months after stopping the pill I got acne. Not regular acne but big nasty red cystic acne all over my face. Well I freaked out and went back to birth control. After a month my face was clear again. This year I stopped the pill again and the same thing happened I went to t
