  1. I've been desperate to get help on this forum for the past two months and no one has answered me. I have moderate-severe acne that I believe is hormonal but I honestly have no idea what is going on with my skin or my body, I am losing faith in all of these methods and attempts to figure my skin out and it is worsening my depression. I can't leave the house without makeup and am severely self conscious. My situation: I had been using tretinoin 0.025 and benzo-clin (some sort of benzoyl peroxi
  2. Nothing much to report here really. I have had two noticeable spots in the past week or so, weirdly in the same place but on opposite sides in front of my ears. The one in front of my left ear now feels huge under the skin. Other than that pretty good really. I still have the Hyper-pigmentation but I find if I skip a day on the meds then that seems to fade a little, I am hoping that means it will fade pretty quickly when I stop the medication for good. I have had some muscle and back pain on a
  3. I just got the Neutrogena Rapid Tone repair day and night moisturizers. The only difference I've really noticed is a slightly different texture, and a lack of SPF in the night version. So, why are there two different ones. I know many people use different ones at night than during the day. Is this necessary? Is it due to the SPF, more potent ingredients, the difference in texture, or what? I was previously using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer, and I used it both day and night and didn

    Week One / Backstory

I have been dealing with acne since I was about 14, and I am 24 now. I tried every antibiotic, topical, pill, gel, cream, facials and even accutane at age 15. Accutane worked WONDERS. I had beautiful clear baby soft skin in a matter of months. I never wore a drop of makeup. Then somewhere around the age of 20-21 my skin got dramatically worse. I began getting stubborn cyst-like pimples that wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I cut out dairy, became a pescetarian, took tons of vitamins daily,
  5. how do u guys stop obsessing over your acne and letting it rule your life? It seams to be all I think about...i just want to forget. How do i stop it getting me so down. ? Love to all suffering
  6. Hi, just hoping to get the word out there to the medical and science world. It seems that no one realizes that DIMETHICONE and TRIMETHICONE are REALLLLLLLY horrible for some people's skin. I look it up online and it says safe enough for babies. But I would feel so sorry for any baby who is having the same reaction that I have to these silicones in the creams and moisturizers. Please know, that my own dermatologists just assumed I had rosacea for nearly 20 years. They put me on a daily regim
  7. Hello, Does anyone else have this kind of acne? Anyone know what it is? I’ve tried just about everything in my lifetime and nothing seems to improve my condition. I am in my late 20’s now and have had this for about 15 years. Please see the picture to see if this is something you can identify and any advice for what helped. Most of the time you cannot see the acne, only in certain lights. Then it looks awful. It’s almost as if every pore has a bump.
  8. Hey all! Wow... So I can't believe I'm back on this site 10 years after I signed up. Back in 2006 when the Acne.org Regimen didn't even exist. Crazy! Well, I'm 26 years old now and sad to say I'm still not finished with this whole acne thing. Shortly after I joined in 2006, I found a treatment that worked for me - birth control pills. It was obvious that my acne was hormonal (I had the painful cystic kind around my chin/mouth area) so BCP was the perfect solution for my skin. I have been cl
  9. Hi! I have always had an issue with blocked pores/blackheads rimming my entire lip line, now they have spread to my chin. They don't all look exactly like black heads, just a blocked pore with white gunk sticking out. Sometimes, my skin feels rough. I have been using Retin A for the last month and maybe this is getting worse because of the retin a bringing everything to the surface? I do exfoliate once or twice a week. I moisturize and still not much improvement. I have spent hours trying to e

    Merry Christmas

Just a quick update here. Still not a whole lot to say - no new spots which probably means the antibiotics are starting to work. However, those two big spots between my mouth and nose are actually four. Four! WTF My skin is really dry though I am trying to keep it moisturised. I am no longer using BP all over my problem area because I know the antibiotics should take care of that. I still need to make an appointment for the New Year to get a dermatologist referral... So...yes, slightly

    Day 16

Yesterday I thought that maybe one of the small spots from a few weeks ago was trying to make a resurgence, but wasn't too sure. Last night it was definitely a bit swollen - gah!!! I slathered BP on it and the rest of the left side of my chin. The right side seems to be a little bit more under control, but the left side seems always on the verge of a new breakout. I guess it's only been 16 days since I started using BP twice a day, hopefully I just need to persevere. This morning it doesn't seem

    Day 168---Redness Ftw

PROGRESS Two weeks ago (Day 154) I reported that the left side of my face was very clear while the right side was still "catching up". I have not had any [major] pimples on the left side of my face since writing that. The right side of my face has since had a pretty ugly breakout 1-2 big-sized pimples that are still healing.. One of them is a real eye sore, right in the middle of my cheek. It's in the middle of drying out right now. For once though, I don't even care. It doesn't bother me. I ke
  13. Hello. Curious to see what others were prescribed/advised these two and how you apply them. My doc said differin during the morning every 3 days and benzaclin each night. I had irritation from benzaclin on night 3 but figured that I might've used too much too fast. Because of this I did not start differin yet. I ceased use immediately. I have been using Neutrogena's BP clear pore wash for 10+ years and never had a problem, so I'm assuming that the concentration was too high for something I wasn'
  14. Just when I think things might be looking up, I come out in about five massive, huge, painful, under the skin lumps. Seriously now, I will be amazed if this actually does work for me. I will be honest, the doubt is creeping in.
  15. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi
  16. Just curious - has anyone found a gentle yet effective skincare routine/line of products? I am 32 years old with hormonal acne, isolated to my chin, ranging from mild (whiteheads) to severe (cysts) and even sometimes clear. I tend to go for products that are probably too harsh, doing more harm than good. With this type of acne, I'm not expecting a product to "cure me"...I just want to be good to my skin, and not exacerbate the problem. Just looking for your thoughts/suggestions! Thanks
  17. Seriously losing the will to live with my acne. It’s a joke! I’ve had acne since I was 18 and I’m now 25 going on 26!!! I’ve tried literally everything and my only option left is accutane but I really really don’t want to go on it because I have a phobia of blood and needles so I couldn’t deal with the monthly blood test’s needed. I’ve used both benzoyl peroxide and Retinoids like Differen none have helped. I even went on the contraceptive pill to see if that helped and it didn’t
  18. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau
  19. Let's see I guess i'll start off by giving you a little idea of who I am. I'm a twenty something year old who works with dogs in sunny Southern California. I enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer. My favorite things to do are hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking You name it! I've always struggled with hormonal acne, but not until a couple years ago I started breaking out with tiny little nodules under my skin, and soon they spread ALL over my cheeks, and chin. Thanks t
  20. I have been using Tretinoin microsphere gel 0.1% and Minocycline 100mg (twice a day) for a couple of months now and I was on the acneeinstein.com website and the suggestion of taking zinc/Vitamin D3 pills was suggested. I wanted to ask and see if it was ok that I take these pills along with the medications that have been prescribed to me? thanks in advance.

Is This Acne Or Rosacea? (Pics)

I'm 30 years old and have had extremely clear skin my entire life. About 3 months ago, overnight it seems, my left cheek broke out in a flushed patch of red bumps. The bumps come and go and move around, sometimes I have whiteheads and sometimes just red bumps, and some days that cheek is redder than other days, but the whole thing is still completely isolated to only my left cheek. I tried every acne face wash and product on the market- nothing helped. After googling, I pretty much diagnosed mys

    Dairy Free Diet

After some research I’m trying a dairy free diet to help control my acne . I'm also taking Spiro 100 mg a day, ortho tri cyclen, and using Azelaic Acid Finacea 15% morning and night. To be honest at this point I would try pretty much anything. The research I’ve read says that the acne causing hormones are in all milk products so I'm are completing cutting out dairy. No milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, chocolate ect. It’s going to be hard but if it clears my acne I can live without it. Toda
  24. Hi guys, I'm currently in my third month of accutane at 70mg a day. To be honest, I've been having a pretty mild experience. I didn't get an IB, no dry skin, and my pores got smaller and my pimples stopped almost immediately. I SHOULD note that I don't have severe acne, I have moderate but VERY persistent adult acne, and my derm put me on accutane because absolutely nothing else was working on me. Anyway. Because of the Christmas break I've spent the past few weeks eating terribly and onc

    3 isolaz day 23

    From the album: Isolaz+Laser Genesis

After awhile I feel like it's not getting much better because every time when I do Isolaz, all the active acne would be flatten for 2-3 days. After that new pimples emerge from the remaining close comedones. It's like a never ending cycle. Plus my skin scars really badly. I can't have this going on like this! I really need to find a solution for those closed comedones.
