    One Month Update

I've been on 50mg of Spiro for a month. Today, I take my 100mg dose for the first time. I haven't experienced any side effects really. My body is getting used to taking more water in. I take my Spiro at 5:45 pm with dinner or crackers everyday and haven't had any stomach upset. The one time I took it with a smoothie only I was pretty dizzy. I definitely see a HUGE difference. The deep lesions I had on my face are filling in and lightening up. I only got one new pimple this week (I am supposed to

    Almost Four Months

I can't believe it has almost been four months! Thank you for the comments and direct messages I have received, by the way!! So I am still on 100mg of Spiro. Now, I am taking it right before bed with my birth control and I am finding that none of the side affects are bothering me anymore. I was taking it right with dinner and sometimes I would get a little light-headed by the time I drove home from work (around 11pm-midnight). My skin has still remained fairly clear. I did get a really random

    2 Weeks Into Roaccutane

hey so after trying pretty much everything for my skin i have been on roaccutane for 2 weeks. no initial break out and my skin is clearing up amazingly i had been using retin a gel for a while before so this may have prevented an initial break out as retin a would have been bringing out cysts and spots anyway so my skin has just been improving still had 2 small spots in last 2 weeks but these have gone within 24 hours i am on 30mg daily, am 28 years old and had persistent acne for 10
  4. I figured I’d write an update since it’s been almost a month since I created this blog. I’ve been on Spiro since October 31, 2017. I am currently taking 100 mg at night before bed. I started the dosage out very low and have gradually increased but I have not seen much improvement in my skin. I would not call my acne severe... BUT it is very very persistent; all kinds of zits and pretty much all over my face to some degree. Being 32 years old I would assume my acne is hormonal but I do not get a

    Day 1

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

This photo was taken the night I took my first dose of Zenatane at 40 mg (for the first month of my treatment I took a 40 mg pill once a day). At this point in my acne story, my break outs tended to be very painful and deep under the skin. The red marks made me feel so incredibly self conscious and I refused to let anyone besides my fiance to ever see me without make up!

    How I cured my acne...

What I mean by cure is a real cure, no medicine, no special washing or regimen. Just normal everyday stuff. A little background. I've had acne for 20 years. It started at seventeen. I'm now almost thirty-seven. When I was younger, I got on the pill, orthotrycyclen. My acne went away completely but as soon as I got off the pill, it came back even worse. I also tried differin gel, erythromycin, retin A and proactiv. They would cease working after about two years so I had to rotate products. Af
  7. I appreciate this has probably been posted a million times but I can't find a recent post about this. Acne/Med History I have always suffered with hormonal acne which was controlled for many many years by Dianette. I was taken off Dianne due to mental health issues and put on several different antibiotics (lymecycline/minocycline). After doubling the dose the doctor gave me, my acne was 'manageable' but I then developed loads of tiny spots all over my forehead (which I had never experienced be
  8. Hi everyone, I'd like to share my experience with hormonal acne and how I cleared it up completely with the contraceptive patch, Ortho Evra. I've only ever read negative reviews of the patch in relation to acne so wanted to get a positive version out in the hope that this will help others ! I have suffered from acne since I was about 13. Antibiotics never worked for me so at 17 I was suggested the contraceptive pill. Dianette cleared this up completely however after 2 years the emotional si
  9. Yo, dawgs. Read the whole post for a background on my situation, skip to the last paragraph for the actual questions. So...I'm going back to my dermatologist next week for my late-onset adult acne. I am 25. Never had a pimple in my life; now all of the sudden my jawline loves to produce clusters of tiny bumps...some of which become inflamed and red and huge. It can be painful, it sucks. What kind of acne is this? Where it's not necessarily inflamed, just bumpy and visible if you look cl
  10. Hello all. This is my first post here. Sorry if it's a little lengthy. So I am a few days away from being 25, and I have been experiencing sudden adult acne for about 6 months now. Acne was NEVER a problem for me before. I went through highschool completely untouched by the throws of puberty, luckily. Those were the days... I was on the Ortho Evra BC Patch since age 14, due to bad periods. Insurance stopped covering them so my doctor put me on the pill. I was on Nekon for about 2 years. A

    Sudden Onset Of Adult Acne

Hi everyone I just joined this forum, because i am feeling downright dejected and sad. I just turned 28 and around a month ago, i started developing acne on my left jaw. I thought of this as completely hormonal (since i ahve a history of PCOS) and thought they will go.. However, this kept on getting worse and before i knew, it spread all over my cheek. I can attribute some of this to using cosmetics, which contained shimmer (and chemicals such as bismuth oxide).. but most of it is unexpla
  12. *backstorySo long story short (kinda) my skin has been clear and almost perfect all throughout my teenage years. Up until I turned 20 and had a realllly shitty break up which I believe the stress caused me to get acne. It was pretty terrible from going from having clear skin to pretty much my entire cheeks are covered with aggravated acne. I knew it was an internal issue because I would have a couple spots on my back or chest as well. This lasted a year and a half of me supplementing, cutting da

Acne Even After 2 Rounds Of Accutane

I have taken two full course of accutane in my late 20s. I am now over 30 and my oily, acne prone, troubled skin is back. It's so upsetting when you have had clear skin (finally) then are thrown right back into the trenches of acne. When you keep trying to figure out what to do, what not to do, what to eat or not eat, etc etc. The oil came back not even a year after stopping accutane. I am petite, I was on a very thorough course...it did not stop my oil or my acne post medication. Even t
  14. From the album: Week One

WEEK ONE (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.) I decided to try Proactiv in February, as it had worked for me in my younger years. After starting Proactiv, my skin was very blotchy and irritated. I noticed that my skin began to flake, and where I had put the Benzol-Peroxide, my skin was "hardening" and becoming darker. This was very aggravating as I have fair skin, and my neck had an obvious line of darker skin, to
  15. I have always been very self-conscience of my skin because as a teenager I had sever acne that left me with box car and ice-pick scars. Most of my scars are around my nose and some on my chin. I also have very large pores around my T zone. Trying to find a solution acne scars, I went to see my dermatologist's office, one of the top doctor's in DC, he suggested that I would be a prime candidate to do TCA Cross treatment. So this is my journey with TCA Cross - and I hope to share my exper
  16. Hi, so until the beginning of this year, I've always had pretty manageable skin... Breakouts here and there whenever I was on my period or wasn't eating right, but most of the time, my skin was perfectly fine and I barely wore makeup. However, all of a sudden in the span of about 2 weeks, my face erupted with a bunch of white heads and puss-filled nodules around my T-zone... in a matter of weeks, that spread all around my face, and cysts and nodules started popping up. It's been about 5+ mont
  17. I've struggled with hormonal acne (chin and jawline) and keratosis pilaris (lower legs and inner thighs) for some time now. Starting a new regiment of differin gel 0.1 % in pm, and glycolic acid lotion 10% in am. Using Shea butter for body moisturizer and purpose spf 10 facial moisturizer after each respective application. I wash my face twice daily with the purpose cleansing wash. To be updated weekly. Any suggestions would be appreciated, never tried keeping a log before I'm hoping it increase

    Day 40

    From the album: HEALING!

Pre- Accutane compared to day 40 on Accutane. if you're interested, there's more here: https://www.instagram.com/mynameisjustp/
  19. I've been struggling with acne problems since I was a teenager. I'm almost 27. I've tried every product on the market including proactiv, skin id, murad, etc.. I've been on a six month cycle of accutane which cleared my face perfectly, but it came back only 9 months later. I've been on tetricyclin, minocyclin, birth control pills, etc, you name it!! I've tried more gentle approaches but with major failure. I've used DDF, the store brands like neutrogena & etc etc.. you get the point. Current
  20. Hello people, I had moderate-severe acne for 5 years. I am making this post because I want to share the knowledge I attained and maybe hopefully help some people. This is a long post, but I'm sure people who are suffering from acne who are seeking information will give it a read. I know I wish I knew this information when I was younger. Things I tried I have tried so many OTC products. From ProActiv to several other Acne creams I can't even remember... Of course, none of them worked. I also
  21. First of all, I typically don't get involved in forums unless I feel very strongly about something and I have done my research. Secondly, I am a chemist, so feel like I have some background to talk on this topic. Thirdly, let me say I am ANGRY! I have been fighting cystic acne for most of my adult life (I am 44). I was constantly in the middle of a breakout, which were worse during "that time of the month." As soon as one flare up would clear, I'd be acne free for a day or two until the nex
  22. I wanted to make a generally positive post on this website because when I was having bad anxiety over my acne I scoured this website looking for someone exactly like me. I looked for some post that would lift my spirits and make it easier to deal with. I didn't really find anything like that so I wanted to help anyone who might find hope in this. First, I want to talk about hair loss and my recovery. I took Accutane the first time when I was in high school. I lived overseas in Malaysia with
  23. Hi Guys, Just joined the forum today as a new years resolution! I have mild acne (usually have about 3 active big spots and a few little ones all the time) and have been on accutane twice and antibiotics for the past year. Both of these make my skin flawless but are not long term solutions. I want to be drug free this new year and totally dependent on products. I have been advised to buy Dermalogica Special Cleanser and Active Moist moisturiser. Can anybody give me any feedback on the

    Day 7

From the album: Week 1 Dalacin T (erythromycin)

On day 7 of dalacin t topical lotion. Definitely an improvement in my skin, the acne has calmed and has flattened. With only one new large spot appeared on my chin since I started. I'm also still taking oral antibiotics, I've been on these for a couple of months now.
