  1. Nothing much to report here really. I have had two noticeable spots in the past week or so, weirdly in the same place but on opposite sides in front of my ears. The one in front of my left ear now feels huge under the skin. Other than that pretty good really. I still have the Hyper-pigmentation but I find if I skip a day on the meds then that seems to fade a little, I am hoping that means it will fade pretty quickly when I stop the medication for good. I have had some muscle and back pain on a
  2. how do u guys stop obsessing over your acne and letting it rule your life? It seams to be all I think about...i just want to forget. How do i stop it getting me so down. ? Love to all suffering

    Merry Christmas

Just a quick update here. Still not a whole lot to say - no new spots which probably means the antibiotics are starting to work. However, those two big spots between my mouth and nose are actually four. Four! WTF My skin is really dry though I am trying to keep it moisturised. I am no longer using BP all over my problem area because I know the antibiotics should take care of that. I still need to make an appointment for the New Year to get a dermatologist referral... So...yes, slightly

    Day 168---Redness Ftw

PROGRESS Two weeks ago (Day 154) I reported that the left side of my face was very clear while the right side was still "catching up". I have not had any [major] pimples on the left side of my face since writing that. The right side of my face has since had a pretty ugly breakout 1-2 big-sized pimples that are still healing.. One of them is a real eye sore, right in the middle of my cheek. It's in the middle of drying out right now. For once though, I don't even care. It doesn't bother me. I ke
  5. Hello. Curious to see what others were prescribed/advised these two and how you apply them. My doc said differin during the morning every 3 days and benzaclin each night. I had irritation from benzaclin on night 3 but figured that I might've used too much too fast. Because of this I did not start differin yet. I ceased use immediately. I have been using Neutrogena's BP clear pore wash for 10+ years and never had a problem, so I'm assuming that the concentration was too high for something I wasn'
  6. Just when I think things might be looking up, I come out in about five massive, huge, painful, under the skin lumps. Seriously now, I will be amazed if this actually does work for me. I will be honest, the doubt is creeping in.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi
  8. Just curious - has anyone found a gentle yet effective skincare routine/line of products? I am 32 years old with hormonal acne, isolated to my chin, ranging from mild (whiteheads) to severe (cysts) and even sometimes clear. I tend to go for products that are probably too harsh, doing more harm than good. With this type of acne, I'm not expecting a product to "cure me"...I just want to be good to my skin, and not exacerbate the problem. Just looking for your thoughts/suggestions! Thanks
  9. Seriously losing the will to live with my acne. It’s a joke! I’ve had acne since I was 18 and I’m now 25 going on 26!!! I’ve tried literally everything and my only option left is accutane but I really really don’t want to go on it because I have a phobia of blood and needles so I couldn’t deal with the monthly blood test’s needed. I’ve used both benzoyl peroxide and Retinoids like Differen none have helped. I even went on the contraceptive pill to see if that helped and it didn’t
  10. I have been using Tretinoin microsphere gel 0.1% and Minocycline 100mg (twice a day) for a couple of months now and I was on the acneeinstein.com website and the suggestion of taking zinc/Vitamin D3 pills was suggested. I wanted to ask and see if it was ok that I take these pills along with the medications that have been prescribed to me? thanks in advance.

Is This Acne Or Rosacea? (Pics)

I'm 30 years old and have had extremely clear skin my entire life. About 3 months ago, overnight it seems, my left cheek broke out in a flushed patch of red bumps. The bumps come and go and move around, sometimes I have whiteheads and sometimes just red bumps, and some days that cheek is redder than other days, but the whole thing is still completely isolated to only my left cheek. I tried every acne face wash and product on the market- nothing helped. After googling, I pretty much diagnosed mys

    Dairy Free Diet

After some research I’m trying a dairy free diet to help control my acne . I'm also taking Spiro 100 mg a day, ortho tri cyclen, and using Azelaic Acid Finacea 15% morning and night. To be honest at this point I would try pretty much anything. The research I’ve read says that the acne causing hormones are in all milk products so I'm are completing cutting out dairy. No milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, chocolate ect. It’s going to be hard but if it clears my acne I can live without it. Toda
  14. Hi everyone! I'm 21 years old (about to be 22 next month), no kids, and I'm getting desperate. I need some serious advice on how to get rid of this acne! So my story is: I got mirena inserted when I was 19, in 2011. It was inserted incorrectly and kept poking me! I started having weird mood swings, and after only a couple weeks I began to get this cystic acne all over my face. When I was younger, I used to get very MILD acne along my T-Zone. This was different though.. It was everywhere. My c

    Day 20

20th dose at 40 mg, once a day. This was the start of my initial break out. Frustration levels were pretty high. Sorry for the weird screenshot on this one!

    Day 40

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

Day 40 at 40 mg twice a day. I was feeling the best about my skin so far at this point! I ran a 5k this day in the beautiful but extremely humid Charleston, SC this day which accounts for a good deal of that redness. Everything on my face was flattening down and my skin was feeling so smooth. Starting to feel like a turn around!
  17. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he

  19. Hello all! I feel like such a fair weather friend here. I've been a member for a long time, but I really only visit when I'm having a horrible time with my adult acne. Now is one of those times. It's not that I'm not grateful for this very helpful website...it's just that I'm a mom, a wife, a college student, and I work! Whew! Right now, I don't feel like leaving the house, my acne is so bad. My latest acne remission was my being on Epiduo for about a year. When the Epiduo stopped
  20. Hey all. I am in my late 20's- Female- I started breaking out BAD about 2 years ago. Only on my chin cheeks and jawline, which I always read is hormonal. But its not just around that time of the month, its always. I have tons a hard cystic acne, rarely ever coming to a head, now scarring (and I don't pick) and leaving marks behind. It's MOSTLY on my left cheek and I wash my pillow cases, and clean my phone all the time. I've tried everything from Expensive brands, cheap brands,
  21. I have gotten desperate here. First, a brief history for you all. I have always been on A.D.D medication, if that is relevant. My acne started when I hit puberty. It wasn't just normal teenage acne, it was the kind that shows up when you google "acne". At the age of 17, in complete desperation, I took Accutane for 10 months. My skin was PERFECT and my self esteem was higher than it had ever been. Age 19, my acne came back and worse than ever. I was put on my second course of Accutane. Once
  22. I want to start off by saying I am a 21 year old female. I have NEVER had a problem with acne before. As a teenager I might have had a couple zits here and there but never full blown acne. I started the depo shot when I was 20 after being on it for 9 months I noticed really bad breakouts that would come and go. My doctor said to try one more cycle (1 shot, 3 months) to see if it would go away. The acne got worse at the end of the three months I decided I HAD to do something else. He put me on qu
  23. Hello, I wasn't planning on starting a log but I enjoy reading everyone elses so much I thought it was only fair if I wrote one too. I'm 36 and fed up with having bad skin. It's so embarrassing to be a "grown-up" with pimples on your face when every other person has perfectly clear skin. Nothing has worked so I decided to take the Accutane plunge. I've been reading a lot of posts on here and the side effects scare the crap out of me but I have no other options at this point. I just rea
  24. Hey guys, Looking for any advice here. I have an appointment with my derm in 3 and a half weeks but am a bit wary on what to do in the meantime. I'm 25. Around the age of 21, I started experiencing horrible adult acne. Painful cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin-- sent me into a pretty bad depression because I was really confused. Had never had anything more than a single pimple, and in my final year of college, my skin was a wreck. It took about a year of regimens (all the topicals, di
  25. Evening everyone. Having read many logs over the years I thought it would be good to share my ongoing experience of Isotretinion (accutane) this time round (second course). I was prescribed accutane four years ago (aged 19), it worked wonders for my skin and completely changed me. Four years on my acne has slowly crept back - although not to the extent of my teenage years! Now aged 23 I have now embarked on my second course (starting today), 40mg for the first eight weeks. What I wanted t
