  1. Hello I have been using the regimen for about 7 months now and it has worked pretty well so far. Last week, I suddenly started breaking out on the right side of my face. I have a lot of active breakouts currently. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary for this to happen, but it is all over the right side of my face. Still continuing the regimen, but wondering if anyone could provide more guidance or reasoning behind this to avoid future occurrences.
  2. I'm a 28 year old male in the PIttsburgh area. I've done a few courses of Accutane, with the last one being a long-term, very low dose. I stopped Accutane and was initially clear, but my acne has returned. My current dermatologist claims that it is now difficult to prescribe Accutane and that he cannot prescribe Accutane to me again. I'm at a loss, because this is literally the only thing that has kept me clear. I don't have severe acne, but I have oily skin and mild/moderate acne that responds
  3. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau
  4. Hi, I am new to this forum but I'm hoping it can help me out. I live in Connecticut. I'm 22 yrs old in college and I have had consistent acne since I was 16 years old (6 years now). I have seen dermatologists when I was younger but haven't in the past 3 years. My acne fluctuates from mild/moderate/ to severe and right now its getting to severe for no apparent reason. Over the past 6 years my clear skin has progressively become damaged looking, my pores are large, my skin is oily and red, and my
  5. Ok so I am in the midst of crisis and any kind of help or ideas would help. So I am 39 and have always had a fairly good complexion. No major problems with acne, not even as a teenager. About 3 months ago I started getting this big deep, subcutaneous lumps. One or two at first. I kept to my rutine thinking it must just be almost that time of the month. Within a week or so of the first my entire right cheek was covered i cystic acne and a forehead full of big, fat whiteheads! I freak out, which p
  6. I have some questions regarding hormonal acne and the use of Yasmin and Spironolactone.. Hopefully this won't be too long-winded and lengthy.. Has anyone here had luck with replacing Yasmin with spironolactone to treat their (adult) hormonal acne? I don't want to be on Yasmin anymore because I believe that hormonal birth control leaves me with anxiety issues, I also experienced this on the NuvaRing as well. I am 26 and have PCOS which I believe is the root cause of my acne, so I need to be on
  7. I have now been 99% clear for three months! I had tried benzol peroxide many times before but had never stuck with it longer than a month due to severe dry skin and breakouts. This time I decided to give it a good go and it worked! Before this I had tried everything from antibiotics to Accutane a number of times, none had worked for long if at all. Please note that I have had acne for over 10 years and it has been a constant battle, I am not a young teen that has the odd breakout and finally
  8. Hi everyone! I'm 21 years old (about to be 22 next month), no kids, and I'm getting desperate. I need some serious advice on how to get rid of this acne! So my story is: I got mirena inserted when I was 19, in 2011. It was inserted incorrectly and kept poking me! I started having weird mood swings, and after only a couple weeks I began to get this cystic acne all over my face. When I was younger, I used to get very MILD acne along my T-Zone. This was different though.. It was everywhere. My c
  9. I want to start off by saying I am a 21 year old female. I have NEVER had a problem with acne before. As a teenager I might have had a couple zits here and there but never full blown acne. I started the depo shot when I was 20 after being on it for 9 months I noticed really bad breakouts that would come and go. My doctor said to try one more cycle (1 shot, 3 months) to see if it would go away. The acne got worse at the end of the three months I decided I HAD to do something else. He put me on qu
  10. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi
  11. Hi all, A little background of myself: I am 30 years old and I have been suffering from Severe to mild acne since i was 15 years old. My first time ever going to a dermatologist for medicine was about 2 years ago and he prescribed me epiduo with doxycycline and it took a year for my acne to clear up, but I never got rid of blemishes and some scars around my face. After I cleared up, I stopped using the medicine and I broke out again after 2 months and now I went to a different doctor and he in

    Spiro Week 1

I am creating this log (also created as a blog entry) in hopes that it helps others. I was blessed with nearly-perfect skin my entire life, until the age of 23. I began having occassional breakouts, mostly on my chin around my mouth, and visited my first dermatologist. These minor breakouts seemed like a big deal to me at the time, since I had never experienced this before. I was prescribed Duac. Within 1 month, my face was crystal clear once again. Using duac as needed kept me clear for almost
  13. Hi Everyone, I am a 38 year old male suffering from lifelong severe treatment resistant acne. I have decided to try a six month course of treatment with Isotretinoin. I will be documenting my journey on video and you are welcome to follow my progress. Wish me luck! Video Diary
  14. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and

    Day 20

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

20th dose at 40 mg, once a day. This was the start of my initial break out. Frustration levels were pretty high. Sorry for the weird screenshot on this one!

Is This Acne Or Rosacea? (Pics)

I'm 30 years old and have had extremely clear skin my entire life. About 3 months ago, overnight it seems, my left cheek broke out in a flushed patch of red bumps. The bumps come and go and move around, sometimes I have whiteheads and sometimes just red bumps, and some days that cheek is redder than other days, but the whole thing is still completely isolated to only my left cheek. I tried every acne face wash and product on the market- nothing helped. After googling, I pretty much diagnosed mys

    Returning acne

My acne which used to be on the right side of my face has now switched to the left. I have stopped taking oral contraceptives so expected some relapse of my skin but I feel that it is different and worse than before. Any advice for treatment (not hormonal even though this has been all that has worked in the past). Currently using eucerin regime for approx 3 weeks but acne has probably got worse in this time.
  18. Hey all! Wow... So I can't believe I'm back on this site 10 years after I signed up. Back in 2006 when the Acne.org Regimen didn't even exist. Crazy! Well, I'm 26 years old now and sad to say I'm still not finished with this whole acne thing. Shortly after I joined in 2006, I found a treatment that worked for me - birth control pills. It was obvious that my acne was hormonal (I had the painful cystic kind around my chin/mouth area) so BCP was the perfect solution for my skin. I have been cl

    Breakout 4 Years After Accutane

Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
  20. Hi! I just created this log to see how my acne behaves and maybe help other people who have the same doubts about this type of birth control pill. I have moderate acne and I've tried to control it with natural things. I started taking them on April 10, they are called Gynorelle but are almost the same as Belara* and they have 2mg Chlormadidone acetate + 0.02mg Ethynilestradiol. The Chlormadidone Acetate is the antiandrogenic component and there's 24 active pills and 4 placebos. I'll post u

    Day 35

I'm starting to suspect that milk/dairy was the culprit. I have eaten very little dairy in the past 35 days, just a little bit of milk to wet my small bowl of cereal at breakfast. When I had my horrendous breakout in December & January, I was eating a lot of yogurt. And though I has no breakouts whilst taking antibiotics through February and March and was regularly eating yogurt, I starting breaking out soon after the antibiotics finished. Since I replaced the milk with almond milk last week

    Day 16

Yesterday I thought that maybe one of the small spots from a few weeks ago was trying to make a resurgence, but wasn't too sure. Last night it was definitely a bit swollen - gah!!! I slathered BP on it and the rest of the left side of my chin. The right side seems to be a little bit more under control, but the left side seems always on the verge of a new breakout. I guess it's only been 16 days since I started using BP twice a day, hopefully I just need to persevere. This morning it doesn't seem

    Day 26

Still not a lot to tell - which is a good thing! It's been a week since I had a new spot, and that one is still a lump which has not come to a head. I don't think it's going to either. The two spots from before are more or less flat now, but still in the process of healing, but with make-up, there are hidden fairly well. I am still using UltraClear on the spotty side of my chin and BP on the clear (but blemish prone) areas. I think the U/C is the best to use on the spots themselves. Not only doe
  24. Let's see I guess i'll start off by giving you a little idea of who I am. I'm a twenty something year old who works with dogs in sunny Southern California. I enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer. My favorite things to do are hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking You name it! I've always struggled with hormonal acne, but not until a couple years ago I started breaking out with tiny little nodules under my skin, and soon they spread ALL over my cheeks, and chin. Thanks t
  25. Ok so idk if anyone will care to read this but Hii! if you’re on here I’m assuming you’re going through a similarly hard time and I wish you the best and hope you find what works for you soon! ok backstory I have had acne since I was 13, I have it on my face (rarely on my cheeks though), and on my back and chest (though I am better at dealing with that for some reason) after years I came to the realization my acne was hormonal. I get painful “blind pimples” and whit heads, the worst of it i
