  1. Well here I am almost 6 months post Accutane and no cysts have occurred!! It is amazing. So happy I decided to use Accutane, I love the freedom of not having to deal and worry about acne. I get one or two teeny tiny pimples a month but other than that a clear face. The biggest thing is to not pick at any imperfection on my face. Sometimes a very small almost hive like bump will pop up but as long as I leave it alone, it's usually gone the next day. The hair is the same as my last post, I have be

    Day 1

As you can see I have moderate acne, I will get maybe 5 cysts a year. I usually wake up to 2 new pimples every week which leave very bad hyper pigmentation that will last for more then 6 months. I am lucky in that I do not get bad acne on my forehead, back, and chest. I get all of my acne on my cheeks and recently it has been leaving ice pick scars, that is when I got serious about tackling my acne. Today is my first day taking 40mg, and the one thing I am nervous about is dry lips and eyes beca
  3. So I've been off Accutane for 2 months now and it's been interesting to see how some things have changed. The first thing I noticed was about 3 weeks after stopping Accutane my hair started getting oiler and oiler. I now can barely go without washing it every other day whereas on Accutane it was over 3 days. I was hoping it wouldn't go back to this but at least it's not as bad as before Accutane....yet. About a month after stopping Accutane, my face got oiler (though that could have been the ext
  4. DAY 16 update. So the combination of YAZ and Spironolactone has resulted in my period being extended to the current 15th day. My menstrual cycle is usually painful, heavy, and lasts around 5 days. (So heavy that I have to go for iron infusions at the hospital.) Presently, my bleeding has ranged between light/medium. The combination of starting the birth control pill again (after a long while) along with spironolactone has resulted in my hormones going slightly unhinged. While my hormones are s
  5. Thought I'd update again as it's been awhile. It's been 15 months (next week) since I finished my last course of lymecycline. I have been keeping my skin clear with nightly use of benzoyl peroxide (Benzac AC 2.5% which I have to buy from either eBay or Amazon since it's not available in UK shops for some reason). I still don't eat much dairy, I use almond milk on my cereal instead (but I still eat some dairy, I love cheese too much to never eat it!) but no longer take any supplements or ACV.
  6. So far, DAY 13 hasn't been great. I'm getting cystic acne in places I usually never have to worry about. For the past 2-3 days I've had a small/medium cysts growing on my forehead, hairline area and on my nose(!!it's big and red!!). Places I rarely have acne ffs! I think my hormones are trying to find middle ground (at least I hope) because YAZ has extended my period to 12 days. I will wait for my hormones to return from war. I've also started doing LED blue/red light therapy twice a week at
  7. So I have officially been on Accutane for 8 months now. Cyst free for over 5 months! A couple weeks ago I decided to go down to 20mg (10mg in morning and 10 at night) as the sides of my mouth were so raw and peeling the size of a penny. I looked like the joker, haha, but really it wasn't funny. As soon as I decreased the dose, it healed up and so it will just take me a week or so longer to finish up my course. While my lips are super dry, the rest of my skin isn't and I just need my regular loti

I end every day thinking, well hey now, at least it can't get worse than today. It's all up from here, man. And every new day I am proved wrong. Fourth May '18, New levels of low. Gigantic, inflamed, infected cysts showing zero signs of healing after months. They are just kind of there and persistently painful/unsightly/anxiety-fuelling. Sleeping hurts, smiling hurts, talking hurts, eating hurts. Every day in work customers ask me what's wrong with my face, what's on my face, (or my personal
  9. So it's been exactly 7 months since I first started Accutane. My doctor FINALLY realized the dose and length of time needed and so I have 2 more months to go. I have been clear (no cysts) since January and it is the best feeling ever. I actually have had the occasional nightmare about getting a cyst, shows how scared I am to go back to that life. My red marks have faded and the only place I use concealer now is under my eyes. It truly has transformed my life physically, emotionally and socially.
  10. Well its well over a year, 18 months since finishing Roaccutane and I'm still clear. I have the odd pimple now and again, mainly cycle related. My skin is a little dry if anything, but only on my face and sorted with a little bit of moisturiser. I am still exceptionally happy with my decision to take it. Pics below are fresh out of the shower with no make up or products on at all.
  11. Here are my pictures of my skin currently. I have like 2/3 active zits on my forehead but there are always little zits under the skin of my forehead that are not visible in pictures. I also have a lot of red/brown scars, overall redness, blotchyness and hyperpigmentation that you can clearly see.
  12. It’s been almost 4 months now that I’ve been on 100 mg of the Spiro and about 4 weeks ago I increased to 125 mg. I think I am seeing very slow improvements with each month that goes by but I’m still getting new zits every other day or every 3 days at least. I am continuing to try to keep positive but I guess I’m still waiting for this miraculous “perfect” skin that I read about on reviews. I’m seeing a new dermatologist in two days so I am hopeful she will give me some advice and a new perspecti
  13. I continue to be cyst free! Since going off of Dianne 35 birth control 2 months ago I have noticed a couple of things; I am sweating more than I was and the odor is more potent however, my emotions are also much more stable and I've lost some weight. I also went up to 30mg a day about a month ago and I did notice a tiny push of black heads and a tiny back break out of little pimples. On 30mgs I have noticed lips are very dry and I got the cut in the side of my lips that is difficult to heal, it'
  14. Here are current pictures of my bare skin. I’m trying to keep positive because I can see improvement but it’s definitely not flawless like so many other reviews I’ve read. Maybe my expectations are crazy but I seriously want my skin to not have any blemishes. I am still getting under the skin zits on my forehead that do not go away unless I pop them. Then I’m left with terrible scabs, as you can see in the pic. And I still have these deep blackheads or something down on my chin that will not pur
  15. I figured I’d write an update since it’s been almost a month since I created this blog. I’ve been on Spiro since October 31, 2017. I am currently taking 100 mg at night before bed. I started the dosage out very low and have gradually increased but I have not seen much improvement in my skin. I would not call my acne severe... BUT it is very very persistent; all kinds of zits and pretty much all over my face to some degree. Being 32 years old I would assume my acne is hormonal but I do not get a

    Day 983

I can hardly believe that more than 2.5 years have passed since I started this blog. And guess what? My skin is still the same. In fact, it really doesn't look much different to how it did when I started (see pics below), which isn't much different to the years of bad skin I've had all my life. The thing with my skin now is that at 43 it is far, far too desiccated and dry to wear any kind of make-up or cover up, so I'm stuck with disgusting flaking spots and the whole world has to see them every
  17. 20mg in the evening and 10mg in the morning. No longer taking Dianne 35 In a few days it will be 4 months since I have been on Accutane and yes, I am now among those that am saying it works amazing and I wish I would have went on it sooner or that the doctors would have suggested it sooner. Even though I was just breaking out with cysts on my chin, it had damaged my self-esteem so bad that there were many days that I turned down opportunities and activities because of the way I looked. I thoug
  18. This is hard for me to do but I want to be real and raw with this journey I’m on. So here are photos I took last night of my skin right after I got out of the shower. I’d say they’re fairly accurate but my skin/acne is always a bit more red and blotchy after I am in a hot shower. Some of the pimples were ones I picked at that you couldn’t even see but I knew they were there and it drives me crazy. I definitely need to be better at not picking and just letting them go. I know that all it does is
  19. This is going to be a very long first post because I’m going to go into detail of my whole acne experience. So I apologize in advance! Im not even sure anyone will be interested in reading this blog but I know for myself I have read a few other personal blogs on this site and they have encouraged me in this battle with acne. I’m a female, 32 years old and have had mild to moderate acne on and off since I was 13. In high school I had a few zits here and there but it was very mild and nothing t
  20. Week 13 - Just this week I started doing 20mg at night and 10 in the morning every other day and 10mg at night and 10mg in the morning the rest of the days. I hope to be at 30mg everyday within the next 2weeks. So this was the first month that I was cyst free! It felt amazing to go through Christmas and New Years holidays with a cyst free face! I am not sure if my antibiotics from my kidney infection and then for after my surgery helped bring cyst free cause after being off of them for a wee
  21. Week 10- 20mg split dose, dianne 35 birth control, and antibiotics. I've had to add some antibiotics this week as I have another kidney infection. I go for surgery next week on my kidney but they say there should be no interaction with Accutane and I can continue on it as is. Despite skin being dry and fragile, it is doing really good; no cysts, but the next 2 weeks will be the true test. Only other symptoms this week are lips and eyes continue to be very dry.
  22. Week 9 - 20mg split dose and Dianne 35 So it's been 2 months since I've started on this journey. While I still have got a cyst every month, it is better than the multiple ones I was having every month. My complexion as a whole has improved and while I am still getting the occasional teeny tiny pimple, they are now often small enough or go away fast enough not to pick. The dry skin and lips is a constant battle, especially in this dry winter weather. The new products continue to help though. Oth
  23. Week 8 - 20mg split does and dianne-35 birth control pill I got so fed up with my dry skin that I got all new products. I got a serum and another intense moisturizer plus a very gentle exfoliator that I have been using when needed (usually every other day). I have noticed a big positive difference in my skin and it's too much of a coincidence with the new products. My skin is now more plump and soft and the tiny bumps went away. I have not noticed any breakout associated with moisturizing and
  24. Week 6 -20mg split dose and dianne 35 birth control No new cysts! Definitely had spots that would have turned into cysts before but they were gone the next day. I'm hopeful this continues but scared to be hopeful because if I end up getting cysts again I will be devastated. It is quite interesting to see the changes in skin on a daily basis. A couple little spots pop up one day but are gone the next. My skin continues to be quite dry and flaky and so I have decided to very gently exfoliate ev
  25. I have nothing to report....well, that is actually what this post is about. It's been 8 months since I finished my last course of antibiotics and with nightly use of Benzac benzoyl peroxide (only on my mouth & chin area) my skin has remained clear. I have had the occasional spot over the last 8 months but nothing big or distressing. The longest I've been able to go without antibiotics (in recent years) is just 4 months, so having doubled it is a big milestone. I *think* that the continued ni
