  1. I have been on spiro for 3 months and have been very pleased with the results. Thought I would share how the process has been. Would also like to add my acne was not cystic. I just had a lot of regular papules coming up every other day, just on the lower third of my face. I started breaking out for the first time ever last summer at 33 years old. I couldn't clear it despite using tea tree oil and then eventually an acne treatment by Rodan and Fields. Nothing was solving the problem and

    Week 8 update

Quick update here....On week 6 I began to get yet another spot in the same damn area so I started using BP again. I started using it very lightly to begin with because I wanted to avoid my skin getting red and flaky. It seemed to work and my skin has now adjusted to the daily use and not becoming overly dry and I haven't had another spot since. It's only been two weeks, but my skin doesn't really feel like it's "on the verge" of a breakout, like it has since I started the antibiotics. I've just

    Hopeless!

Hi guys! I'm currently 23 years old and am attending dental school. I would consider myself to get mild to moderate acne that is persistent on my face. I get cysts, pimples, black heads and white heads. These mainly show up around my chin, cheeks, and jaw line. I didn't start to experience this mild to moderate acne until I went away to college when I was 17 years old. Since, I have been struggling to figure out how to control my acne by trying various routines, diets, medications, etc. I

    Back again :(

Hi guys, Ok so I'm back. To put a little story behind this thread, I've been using acne.org products since I was about 18/19 - I'm now 26. So back in my late teens, I had pretty horrific acne. I've suffered with rubbish skin since I was about 12, and it came and went over the years and I was prescribed a variety of topical things, all of which just kinda stopped working and I had to move on to the next thing. When I started using the acne.org BP, in conjunction with a new pill that I wa

    My Decrepit Skin

Good morning Starshine! The Earth says hello! You know what's fun? Adult acne... NOT. I have no idea how many accounts I have made on this website and how many logs I have made battling my various acne chronicles (I have forgotten all of the passwords and email addresses from said accounts in the past. I have a feeling that the email account fatman_blindman@hotmail.com no longer exists.) Long story short, had acne sine a teenager. Lots o' topicals (which did shit), antibiotics, three (yes t

    Week 5 update

So...I haven't updated in awhile. To be honest, there's not been much to tell. For the past 4 weeks, my skin has been healing from the terrible breakout I had before Christmas. I've just started my 5th week of lymecycline and this has been the treatment I've had on several occasions. My last treatment lasted 12 months (!) and my skin stayed clear for 4 months afterwards before beginning to breakout again. In the past, as soon as I started the medication, my skin stopped breaking out. This time,
  7. Has anyone tried this US import of bp 10% gel....the make is rugby...it comes in a purple box..anyone tried it...ive orders some as I cant get hold of panoxyl gel anywhere...since its the Same strength I'm hoping it works the same....any reviews would be helpful..thanks xxx
  8. Hi all. I simply just want to get my story out. A bit of a background. I am a 28 year old female. I have had acne since probably 11 or 12. In my teens I had tried everything, antibiotics, creams. I have been on acutane twice, once as a teenager and once when I was about 21 I believe. Both times it worked amazing, but my acne always came back. I never had cystic acne though. I quit smoking for the first time about 3 years ago from switching to E-cigarettes. It was so easy to quit and I actually e
  9. Hi. Im considering in the future to use a raw homemade oatmeal mix to make a light scrub for my face. Im just going to get a small bowl of oatmeal, water it so its nice and mushy but not too mushy and falling apart, and putting it on my face while rubbing very very gently, then washing off. Im just wondering if others have used this instead of store brought versions and just how gentle it is as I have very sensitive skin and want to keep anything I use to a complete minimum. Im also doing a
  10. Gosh, I remember finding this site when I was struggling with my teenage acne 15 or so years ago. I just recently came across it again, as I am now 30 and my acne is flaring up. Some months and years have been better than others as with all who suffer from adult acne, but it just recently has become the worst it has ever been. I've tried it all - lots of BP regimens (but never Dan's). I used Proactiv for years did help a little, but nothing that stuck. For about 2 years now, I have been usi

How I cleared up my adult acne

I don't know if this will work for you, but it helped me so I wanted to share hoping it can help someone else. I have struggled with acne for a long time. I'm 31 now and had success with Accutane in my mid teens and again at college age, then Spironolactone when I was in my mid twenties. Spironolactone was the best! Until it wasn't. It stopped working for me after 3 years. I was so disappointed, I thought I'd found the answer. I started getting cystic acne again and it was brutal. It was all

  13. I posted in hormonal acne section but starting to think maybe my breakouts are something other than hormonal . I'm 27 my skin was clear through my pregnancy 2 years ago even after breastfeeding then last year I got this breakouts only on my right side of my face . Three months ago started not getting them on both sides of my face after I came back from vacation I got the same on my previous side that was clear . ( I had a lot of caffeine and sugar on that trip) I believed it Contributed to my b

    Merry Christmas

Just a quick update here. Still not a whole lot to say - no new spots which probably means the antibiotics are starting to work. However, those two big spots between my mouth and nose are actually four. Four! WTF My skin is really dry though I am trying to keep it moisturised. I am no longer using BP all over my problem area because I know the antibiotics should take care of that. I still need to make an appointment for the New Year to get a dermatologist referral... So...yes, slightly

    Meh...

There's not much to say today, my skin is not much better than a few days ago, it could even be a bit worse since there was another new spot on it's way by the time I started taking the antibiotics. From past experiences, I know that the antibiotics do not stop what has already started. I now have two big lumps between my mouth and nose; one of them has come to a head and is now healing, but I think there could be yet another one right next to it, which is probably why it got so huge so quickly.
  16. I am brand new to this acne stuff at 33 years old. Had a blood test that was suggestive of PCOS even though my testosterone levels are great. One ovary is polycystic so im guessing I do indeed have it, even thought the gyn wasn't so sure. Finally saw the derm who put me on Spiro. I can't believe I am almost 3 weeks in and the little pimples have stopped coming up. I did have about 3 cystic ones pop up and go back down quickly. Strange. About 2 weeks in, my breasts feel like I have PMS or

    Prescription started

My prescription just arrived and I couldn't have ripped open the packaging any faster. I don't know if this is the worst breakout I've ever had - but it definitely feels like it. It feels like my body has attacked my face. There also seems to be slow improvement; maybe because the spots have all been so big. If this drug starts working as quickly as it has in the past, I reckon I'll be lucky to have relatively clear skin (as in not much hyperpigmentation left) in 6-8 weeks. Even once these spot

    Still waiting

Sigh...my prescription did not come on Saturday, and I don't know if it will come today or tomorrow. Feeling pretty pissed off about it all. My skin is sooo awful right now. I've temporarily stopped with the BP as it's so drying; my clear skin is almost as red as the spotty skin. I've been re-reading my blog and have come to the conclusion that BP was probably the solution to getting my skin clear after I came off the first round of antibiotics. And it worked fairly quickly - 5 weeks is all it t

    Back again!

I didn't follow up from my last blog post, but basically, I was put on a 12 month (!!) course of lymecycline. The doctor felt that I needed to take a year's worth to get this out of my system. So... I finished taking them in June 2016, and I was scared shitless that it was all going to start again. And it did....but not for 4 months. in October of this year I got quite a big cyst/spot (or 3 --hard to tell, but i think there was more than one going on) on my chin (right side this time!) just in t
  20. Hello everyone! I specifically joined this forum to lend help to those who have tried a million different acne treatments and have failed. After many several attempts I finally found something that works for me that uses both over the counter topical cream and supplements to help clear cystic acne. Here's my story: When I turned 24 last year after a long night out I woke up the next day with the beginning of an acne breakout. I thought the reason it was happening was because I slept with m

    Scarring or hyperpigmentation?

I wanted an outsiders opinion...is this a scar? And, if so, what type? What sorts of treatment would you recommend? I have had this spot now for a little over a month. :(

    Please help my acne!

Hi guys, I was was wondering if anyone could help. Im 21 and I've never had perfect skin but about a year I had acne flare up around my cheeks and jaw line. i did move house but the move wasn't stressful and if anything as time has gone on it has gotten worse not better. I would really like to solve this holistically and i and I really don't believe in taking drugs but I am starting to get desperate. Where my acne is, is typically linked to hormonal acne but I've just had my bloods te
  23. Hi all! New user here I recently turned 26 and started to break out along my jaw line and my upper neck. I never have broken out like this before and I am looking for any advice to treat it. Also, does this warrant a trip to a dermatologist? Or should I be able to control it over the counter? Thanks!
  24. After moving to NY at the age of 22 I started getting really bad acne on my forehead. At first it was diagnosed as rocsea and eventually acne. It would come and go every so often, usually when I least wanted it to be around. I tried prescriptions such as benzoyl peroxide, Clindamycin (which I later found out I am allergic to) and oral pills. Some things worked better than others, but nothing fully suppressed it. Fast forward to this past spring I started having really bad break outs and wen

    So yeah...

So after my bad reaction to Obagi Skin Products (crazy regimen) this is how I look. I have no used the products in over a month and in fact, I returned them all and got my $700 (almost $800) back. I am still on accutane and will go into my third month now. I am requesting a higher dosage because I have been taking 20mg. I use SHea Moisture african soap in a cleanser form morning and night and that's it. I dont know what to do, part of me wants to look into buying the Acne.Org Regimen but i
