  1. Hi all, I am a 23 year old in the UK starting an isotretinoin course for an acne problem that has plagued me for years. My acne severity varies wildly & I can be 99% clear one month, but break out awfully the next. I'm lucky enough to not have developed any Cysts but I often have quite a few hard, red nodules. I have been on every oral antibiotic under the sun. Doxycycline was effective in my teens but practically useless these days. Lymecycline was probably the most effective for me.
  2. I'm really just posting because I'm at a loss and hoping someone on here has found some miracle vitamin or product that will work for me. I'm a 28 year old male that has been dealing with mild acne/oily skin since I was about 15 and over the past 2 years I would say that has developed more into a moderate acne. My frustration is building, especially when no one in my family has acne, and especially since I've been waiting for years now to breathe a sigh of relief and look back and say, "Acne.
  3. I got a cortisone shot for a cystic pimple on the side of my nose yesterday. After 24 hours, I noticed a small head on the cyst when I woke up and I tried to pop it but not much happened. It's still there and now I just hope I didn't ruin the effectiveness of the cortisone shot. Has anyone ever popped a pimple after getting an injection and did it still go away fast or did I mess up?
  4. Hello all, I've been stalking about the acne.org message boards for a while, but I finally decided I ought to post about myself and see if anyone here can give me some advice. As the title implies, I'm 24 and female. I struggled with acne for most of my teen years - it started around age 12 and didn't lessen up until after high school. I had breakouts during college, but nothing too serious, just a few pimples here and there. Things started to get a little more serious a few months before
  5. Hello, here's my story and a solution that seems to be working. Some time ago I found this website and promised myself that once I find my cure, I'll post. There is no cure for everyone but one might read each others methods and attempt, so here we go. 24 years old male, always was a late bloomer (genes), my acne started when I was 20 and remained until now. It started as hormonal and remained hormonal, however sometimes other factors made it worse. My condition was moderate, sometimes worse

    My Story, Advice needed!

Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  7. I guess I'll start with a little background about my skin. I started breaking out in the 11th grade, and I would consider it moderate. By the time I started college, my skin was clear again and stayed that way until with the exception of occasional minor breakouts. Once I reached 24, however, my skin just started breaking out more and more. I sought the help of a dermatologist who prescribed Retin-A Micro .04%. I had a terrible initial breakout, but I was perfectly clear by the third month. It s

    Introduction -Day 1

Hey Guys, Veteran member here. Ive been battling acne since I was a teen, cant remember how young now. I've had 2 courses of accutane and tried numerous topicals. Around 26-27 yrs of age, my acne became very mild and manageable. I've just had my first child, and my skin has steadily gone downhill since giving birth. I am 11 months post-partum and my skin looks the worst it ever has. Over the last 6 months i have tried proactiv, PC BHA 2%, PC BHA 4%, (no BP as this is too damaging to m
  9. Tomorrow's food/regimen will be (I have veeeeery limited food options for certain reasons...): On face: Lotion, makeup (I'll check which kind I use tomorrow)Breakfast: Wheat toast and peanut butter Apple Snack: Banana Lunch: Carrots Hummus Apples Snack: Raw almonds Dinner: Salad (non dairy dressing) Cooked vegetable of some type Wash face with Purity Cleanser, some Nivea lotion (keep it simple, no picking...which I already did tonight. Ugh.) Anyway, I'm t
  10. Hi there. I went from 28 w/ years of nasty hormonal acne to 32 with none-to-socially acceptable acne. Here’s what I learned that works for me: Got off all forms of hormonal birth control at 22 and switched to Paraguard IUD. All hell broke loose. Yes, spironolactone works. Like, amazing glowing beautiful skin, reduced my anxiety, all sorts of things. Then 8 months into it one day my lower body melted into cellulite like I've never seen before (I was around 25 years old) &a
  11. I've decided to start recording the days when I get new spots in an attempt to see if there is a pattern. Three weeks ago I finished an 8 week course of antibiotics (lymecycline) which cleared my skin beautifully. For about 2 months I'd been suffering from a terrible breakout with new spots emerging on a daily basis. My face was a mess. I finally went to the doctor and she prescribed the antibiotics. Before that, I had suffered from mild acne, possibly stemming from the birth control that I
  12. My questions is:how often should I use my clairisonic? Once a day (morning or night) or twice a day? Also how many time a week? Thanks for your help.

    Day 1

As you can see I have moderate acne, I will get maybe 5 cysts a year. I usually wake up to 2 new pimples every week which leave very bad hyper pigmentation that will last for more then 6 months. I am lucky in that I do not get bad acne on my forehead, back, and chest. I get all of my acne on my cheeks and recently it has been leaving ice pick scars, that is when I got serious about tackling my acne. Today is my first day taking 40mg, and the one thing I am nervous about is dry lips and eyes beca
  14. Hey guys, long time no speak. I can't believe it's been nearly 6 months since I posted on here. So I want to get straight into it. 15. I am 42..... Never had acne until I had testosterone pellets inserted 3 1/2 months ago. I am currently taking: bactrim 400mg per day ( 1/2 a pill) Spirolatone 50 mg. saw palmetto, spearmint tea Topicals. Clindamycin/benzoyle peroxide Has any one ever experienced this??? If so does it, the acne, go away when pellets wear off????
  16. Yes, you heard me. 8. The tender innocent age of 8. Before puberty, during puberty, after puberty. My father had it, my mother STILL has it. I have it everywhere: face, neck, chest, back, butt, legs, arms. I've tried everything: ProActiv, AcneFree, Accutane, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, EVERYTHING. It has prevented me from wearing clothes I like, bathing suits I like, etc. It is one of the many reasons I battle anxiety and depression. I've never been intimate with anyone. Makeup cau
  17. Hey all, i signed up on the org in the later part of this summer and i have to say the Community feel is amazing. Hearing the successes of others as well as the frustrations really make living with acne on a day by day basis much easier. I have finally gained the courage to post pictures of my acne and acknowledge that i am an adult with acne and it embarrasses the crap out of me and significantly affects my self esteem (i have loads of blackheads on my forehead and many disgusting whiteheads

    Almost 30, Still Need Help

Hi, If anything I ask has been answered already, which I'm sure it has, would someone mind linking the previous post, so I don't waste your time in having you answer it again? I'm almost 30, and still pop pimples nearly everyday. My skin isn't awful and for the most part is under control, but I still don't have the greatest skin for a lot of people my age, especially when looked at real closely. Throughout the years I've tried prescribed topical stuff, and for the last six years I've
  19. I'm a 32 year old Asian male who had severe cystic acne in the late teens and early 20's. I developed some large keloid scars (abnormal scars that keep on growing beyond the original wounds) on the chest and shoulders. I took accutane, which worsened my acne initially but cleared me up for a few years and I remained mostly clear until my late 20s and my acne started worsening again. In december 2015, I noticed some of my "jawline cysts" seemed very persistent and have been their for mo
  20. Hi, So for a bit of background: Developed acne after turning 22. I would say it's always been mild to moderate (think it's hormonal due to the fact that I'm a woman and noticed it would be much worse in stressful times and on cheeks/chin). Had to go on oral steroid for 8 weeks. Bam. Right after the steroid got huge cystic pimples on one cheek/ in a cluster. Looked like normal cysts so just thought they would heal up. Fast forward two months later (two injections later) there is still a spot th
  21. Hey all, Been an acne sufferer for over 15 years (about to turn 30). Been on every perscription, accutane 3 times, and have been taking .05% retina nightly for the past several years with the acne.org bp every morning. Recently been getting more nodular acne and the current probiotic I took for 1.5 months wasnt doing anything (it was 10 bil units, 2 strands, and i overlooked the refridge statement so they could have been dead for all I knew). Decided to give Doxycyclin another try. 2 w
  22. I have had this for 2 years and doctors do not know much about it. Its not acne and the bumps can not be popped. They are not painful. It started with one little bump under my left eye, then more. It spread to my right eye, then right below my nose on both sides and my chin. I have been on everything and now I am on Accutane, it seems to be controlling it, but I am on my 4th month and the bumps are still there. I was wondering if ANYONE has heard of this. Lupus miliaris disseminatus fa
  23. From the album: Week One / Day 4

WEEK ONE / DAY 4 (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.)**I am NOT wearing skin makeup besides mascara** I noticed that the redness had subsided, however, my skin was still "darkening" and "hardening". Acne was "smoothing" out, but new breakouts were still occurring. Dryness and flakiness still occurred. Acne marks were healing and being dried out. Still a lot of hyper pigmentation.
  24. Hi everyone, I really need some advice from people on this board. I am completely lost and do not know what to do, and the acne is affecting my social and work life (as I need to present a lot!). Background: Male, 31 years old. Since my early 20s I have had pretty much clear skin with a pimple occasionally due to a big night out or a messed up diet for that week. But generally I had great skin that got complimented a lot, and I hardly used any products if any at all. I am relative hea
  25. I posted in hormonal acne section but starting to think maybe my breakouts are something other than hormonal . I'm 27 my skin was clear through my pregnancy 2 years ago even after breastfeeding then last year I got this breakouts only on my right side of my face . Three months ago started not getting them on both sides of my face after I came back from vacation I got the same on my previous side that was clear . ( I had a lot of caffeine and sugar on that trip) I believed it Contributed to my b
