    IUD (Mirena) and acne

I haven't written in a chat forum since middle school, so bear with me... In July of 2016, I switched from my birth control patch to Mirena, the IUD. I had ZERO problems with the patch, it was just kind of unsightly and annoying. Almost immediately after insertion of the IUD I started noticing my forehead breaking out. I was also in the middle of moving to a new state and starting a graduate program, so I attributed it to that stress. It's now been 4 months and I'm all settled in, but the bre
  2. Hi I am a 37 year old female suffering from adult acne! !!!! I never had a spot on my face till I was 35. I did have some on my back but it never really bothered me. Anyway I am taking tetralysal 300 once a day and dianette once a day for 9months. No break and my skin is perfect. Not one spot. I am coming off it in a month to give my body a break and I am just wondering if there is any success storys? I've had no side affects and would happily stay on them. Just worried about the internal aff
  3. Hi everyone! I actually posted here last week about considering a second course of accutane for my acne. I first took it 7 years ago (Age 16) and had clear skin up until 6 months ago (now age 23)! I have been thinking about it more, and thought that perhaps I should try another method before jumping back into it. However, I honestly just don't know what's best considering everything seems to have terrible potential side effects. My dermatologist was super unhelpful when I asked for advice, she
  4. The area looks inflamed, and kind of like a flat volcano with the red underneath and a semi think white cover. Please let me know, I did stop by the dermatologist for a facial extraction of whiteheads and blackheads and the dermatologist assistance said to make a appointment if I really wanted to ask the derm (very dumb and annoying since the derm was in the other room and would of taken 2 seconds of her day). Please help if you can....
  5. I'm really just posting because I'm at a loss and hoping someone on here has found some miracle vitamin or product that will work for me. I'm a 28 year old male that has been dealing with mild acne/oily skin since I was about 15 and over the past 2 years I would say that has developed more into a moderate acne. My frustration is building, especially when no one in my family has acne, and especially since I've been waiting for years now to breathe a sigh of relief and look back and say, "Acne.
  6. Hello, here's my story and a solution that seems to be working. Some time ago I found this website and promised myself that once I find my cure, I'll post. There is no cure for everyone but one might read each others methods and attempt, so here we go. 24 years old male, always was a late bloomer (genes), my acne started when I was 20 and remained until now. It started as hormonal and remained hormonal, however sometimes other factors made it worse. My condition was moderate, sometimes worse

    My Story, Advice needed!

Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  8. I guess I'll start with a little background about my skin. I started breaking out in the 11th grade, and I would consider it moderate. By the time I started college, my skin was clear again and stayed that way until with the exception of occasional minor breakouts. Once I reached 24, however, my skin just started breaking out more and more. I sought the help of a dermatologist who prescribed Retin-A Micro .04%. I had a terrible initial breakout, but I was perfectly clear by the third month. It s

    Introduction -Day 1

Hey Guys, Veteran member here. Ive been battling acne since I was a teen, cant remember how young now. I've had 2 courses of accutane and tried numerous topicals. Around 26-27 yrs of age, my acne became very mild and manageable. I've just had my first child, and my skin has steadily gone downhill since giving birth. I am 11 months post-partum and my skin looks the worst it ever has. Over the last 6 months i have tried proactiv, PC BHA 2%, PC BHA 4%, (no BP as this is too damaging to m

Tomorrow's food/regimen will be (I have veeeeery limited food options for certain reasons...): On face: Lotion, makeup (I'll check which kind I use tomorrow)Breakfast: Wheat toast and peanut butter Apple Snack: Banana Lunch: Carrots Hummus Apples Snack: Raw almonds Dinner: Salad (non dairy dressing) Cooked vegetable of some type Wash face with Purity Cleanser, some Nivea lotion (keep it simple, no picking...which I already did tonight. Ugh.) Anyway, I'm t
  11. I've decided to start recording the days when I get new spots in an attempt to see if there is a pattern. Three weeks ago I finished an 8 week course of antibiotics (lymecycline) which cleared my skin beautifully. For about 2 months I'd been suffering from a terrible breakout with new spots emerging on a daily basis. My face was a mess. I finally went to the doctor and she prescribed the antibiotics. Before that, I had suffered from mild acne, possibly stemming from the birth control that I
  12. My questions is:how often should I use my clairisonic? Once a day (morning or night) or twice a day? Also how many time a week? Thanks for your help.

    Day 1

As you can see I have moderate acne, I will get maybe 5 cysts a year. I usually wake up to 2 new pimples every week which leave very bad hyper pigmentation that will last for more then 6 months. I am lucky in that I do not get bad acne on my forehead, back, and chest. I get all of my acne on my cheeks and recently it has been leaving ice pick scars, that is when I got serious about tackling my acne. Today is my first day taking 40mg, and the one thing I am nervous about is dry lips and eyes beca

  16. Yes, you heard me. 8. The tender innocent age of 8. Before puberty, during puberty, after puberty. My father had it, my mother STILL has it. I have it everywhere: face, neck, chest, back, butt, legs, arms. I've tried everything: ProActiv, AcneFree, Accutane, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, EVERYTHING. It has prevented me from wearing clothes I like, bathing suits I like, etc. It is one of the many reasons I battle anxiety and depression. I've never been intimate with anyone. Makeup cau
  17. Hey all, i signed up on the org in the later part of this summer and i have to say the Community feel is amazing. Hearing the successes of others as well as the frustrations really make living with acne on a day by day basis much easier. I have finally gained the courage to post pictures of my acne and acknowledge that i am an adult with acne and it embarrasses the crap out of me and significantly affects my self esteem (i have loads of blackheads on my forehead and many disgusting whiteheads

    Almost 30, Still Need Help

Hi, If anything I ask has been answered already, which I'm sure it has, would someone mind linking the previous post, so I don't waste your time in having you answer it again? I'm almost 30, and still pop pimples nearly everyday. My skin isn't awful and for the most part is under control, but I still don't have the greatest skin for a lot of people my age, especially when looked at real closely. Throughout the years I've tried prescribed topical stuff, and for the last six years I've
  19. Hey all, Been an acne sufferer for over 15 years (about to turn 30). Been on every perscription, accutane 3 times, and have been taking .05% retina nightly for the past several years with the acne.org bp every morning. Recently been getting more nodular acne and the current probiotic I took for 1.5 months wasnt doing anything (it was 10 bil units, 2 strands, and i overlooked the refridge statement so they could have been dead for all I knew). Decided to give Doxycyclin another try. 2 w
  20. I have had this for 2 years and doctors do not know much about it. Its not acne and the bumps can not be popped. They are not painful. It started with one little bump under my left eye, then more. It spread to my right eye, then right below my nose on both sides and my chin. I have been on everything and now I am on Accutane, it seems to be controlling it, but I am on my 4th month and the bumps are still there. I was wondering if ANYONE has heard of this. Lupus miliaris disseminatus fa
  21. I'm 23 years old and have PCOS. Over the past couple of years my acne has gotten much much worse. I went from having just a couple of pimples here and there to now over 20 constantly on my face. These are usually blackheads that turn into white heads on my forehead, cheeks, chin, and under my nose and also cystic acne on my chin. I also have a very oily face. I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced somethig similar and has found a skin regiment that actually works. I've tried numerou

    My Acne Is Gone!

I have had incurable black heads and white heads, with the occasional cystic acne for years. I am 34 and I haven't had anything work until now. I have even tried retina a and proactive. Neither worked. After reading about glycolic acid I developed this inexpensive skin care routine and am almost completely cured of it. This is what worked for me...get a magnifying mirror and a pimple extractor(drug stores have them in the tweezer section). You will also need St. Ives apricot scrub and Olay daily

    Help Me!

Hi Acne.Org Community, I live some advice from you guys. Here is my acne journey. Basic Info: Gender: Female Age: 23 Acne History: Occational pimple or two during college I started getting hundreds of tiny bumps on my forehead last January and they didn't go away with clindamycin phosphate gel or with calamine lotion and stayed on my face to 3 weeks, Someone asked me what happened to my face in the middle of an office meeting. I decided to pay a visit to the dermatologist. Der
  25. So, I have been off doxy for about a month now and have been using benzaclin instead since the 7th of October. I am about to start accutane, for a second time in my life (first one was a little more than a decade ago), if blood exams come out fine in the middle of November. I will be honest... I am scared to death, yet my acne scars and I am not ready to give up and accept that my face will look like a battlefield for the rest of my life. Until today, benzaclin seemed to work wonders for my skin
