  1. Hello all, I am so sick of getting clear skin, regaining my life and confidence and then having it all go to shit because of my acne. I am 30 years old and feel like acne has played a huge role in my breakups because I slowly change as my acne gets worse and worse. I become someone other than the guy they first met and fell for--who I really am. When I am clear I am totally confident, love to go out and be in front of people, smile, laugh, and love who I am. I may get the occasional pimpl

    Accutane Again?

Why, hello. SO I have a decision to make and I'd love to hear the opinions of others... First, a little about myself- I'm 25 years old and have dealt with mild to moderate acne since high school. When I was 18 I went on Minocycline for about 9 months- it totally cleared me up for freshman year at college! BUT... it came back the next summer. This time, I think maybe a little worse. To this day I am still afraid to go back on antibiotics because it seems a common theme that antibiotics not
  3. Hello All, So most of my life i have never really had any problems with acne, however for the past year or so i have been struggling with it on my forehead. I have been on creams, face washes, etc for quite awhile and have recently tried lemon juice overnight (however to no real improvement). I am very active which includes working out & running or doing something of that nature everyday and being outside. I have gotten into the habit of washing my face with dove (facial soap) everyda

Adult Acne And I Don't Know Why

So I'm 25, female. I used to have acne when I was younger and going through puberty and then I went on birth control and it started to get better. Still broke out, but it wasn't too bad. I still used spot treatments and face washes--so when I was around 19 it was really good. Then I decided to get off the pill around age 22 because I didn't want to be on it anymore--seemed scary to be on it so long. So when I turned 23 my best friend died and soon after my fiancé dumped me and then the awfu
  5. Hello all, I'm new to this site and thought I would give you a little background. I'm 26, turning 27 this month and have been suffering from acne for almost a year. It's taken a huge emotional toll on my life and I am missing school and social functions because of it. I have been creeping the boards for awhile and finally decided to join in hopes of getting some more personal advice from the acne.org members. I don't have a family doctor and have been pretty much dealing with this on my own
  6. I had perfect skin nearly all of my life. However; the past two years I've had one or two cysts pop up on my chin each month. They take forever to heal and always leave a scar. It's progressively gotten worse over the last few months. I currently have 3 cysts on my chin, whiteheads on my chin and nose, a few bumps on my cheek; and a cyst between my eyebrows. This might sound dramatic, but for someone with previously great skin, this is a nightmare. I'm on a new birth control to help the acne

    Introduction

The woman in my mid 30s who had always had very good skin until about 30. I have tried everything it started with Clinique and proactive and Dermalogica then Bocia, Avene, la Roche, dove, simple, spectro, Aleppo soap and on and on and on. I've discovered the awful truth about moisturizer. And that is, once you start using it it changes the way that your skin produces see them forever. A Swedish scientist recently discovered that using moisturizer actually makes your skin worse: http://www.

    Can't Find A Cure

hi there ! I'm kind of at a loss at what to do about my acne, I feel like I've tried everythung but nothing is a constant fix. I'm a 23 yr old female. my face is super clear on my forehead, cheeks, and t zone. but my chin is a DISASTER. I am on birth control (so I'm sure this is hormonal for the most part). I'll currently have 2 large deep spots on my lower chin, and about 5 small whiteheads that are very tiny but are in clusters on each side of my chin. I started with BP a month ago, it ha
  9. I have struggled for the past 2 years with adult acne. It is mostly around my mouth and chin, and a little on my cheeks. I've made the mistake of picking and touching my face more than I should have which has caused marks on my face. It's been very frustrating. It's time to figure out my acne once and for all. Once I get my active acne under control I plan to talk with a plastic surgeon about removing the acne scars and marks. But, first things first, I need to control my active acne. Over t
  10. I have had mild (Moderate if I go off birth control) since I was probably 18. The acne on my chest and back makes me the most self conscious. I have tried everything. My derm put me on accutane. I'm on day 7. But my question is this: I'm on 80mg/day. Doesn't that seem high??? For mild-moderate acne? I want to ask if he can lower my dose, but I don't know if you can switch mid-prescription. I'm also nervous that my aches/pains/liver damage will be worse since I"m older. Any thou

    Scarring or hyperpigmentation?

I wanted an outsiders opinion...is this a scar? And, if so, what type? What sorts of treatment would you recommend? I have had this spot now for a little over a month. :(
  12. I wanted to share my experience with you guys because I know how stressful and emotionally draining it is to constantly look for a cure. Now, I don't know if this will work for you since everyone has their own acne-cause, but this really worked for me. Some background: I'm 26 (F) and have had acne since I was 17. I never had any previous issues, I actually had really good porcelain skin. Then suddenly my skin just started breaking out little by little and by th time I was 20 I had painful
  13. I have decided to update a little less often due to the fact that it will be really long if I keep doing updates every day. Things are still the same as the other day, no improvements, fresh spots as others are clearing up. That huge lump on my chin seems to want to stay there. Can't believe there has been no improvement at all in that one. Just a waiting game really.

    Day 187--Nothing New

This week is my lady week and along with it came one great big pimple on my left cheek. It hasn't really surfaced but it's red and it hurts.. Could also be because I was super tired on Saturday night and didn't properly wash my makeup off before bed (I used a wipey thingy though!). Other than that, I've been on the right path. You know, the one that EVENTUALLY leads to clear skin. Maybe I haven't been great at remembering to apply lip balm lately, because my lips have been so dry. Even drier

    I'm New :)

I am a 32 year old wife and mother of two. I work in healthcare administration. And I HATE that I am still plagued by acne. After years of stalking this website during my battle with acne, I finally decided to join. Here's a little bit about me and my struggle... I started getting mild acne around age 12...very typical of the age and I was convinced that I would grow out of it...my mother swore that I would. I used every remedy that was available at the local CVS to a pre-teen with nothi
  16. how do u guys stop obsessing over your acne and letting it rule your life? It seams to be all I think about...i just want to forget. How do i stop it getting me so down. ? Love to all suffering
  17. This is my first time posting on this site even though I have been reading user posts for years and it has always helped me. I'm 30 and still break out. I've had periods of being relatively clear here and there, but pretty much ever since I was 18 I've had really sensitive, acne-prone skin. It was doing pretty well until the fall, when my stress levels were through the roof for personal and professional reasons and I wasn't sleeping. It began getting so bad that I finally saw a dermatologist for

    Epiduo and Solodyn

Hey everyone, I am currently on Epiduo and 65 mg of Solodyn once a day. I started Epiduo about 8 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I went back to the dermatologist and that is when they gave me the 65mg of Solodyn. My skin right now is awful, I have at least two new pimples every day. I called the dermatology office and they said that it was most likely caused by the Epiduo and that it was bringing all the dirt and stuff to the surface and that if can take up to 3 months for it to start clearing up

Which Is The Lesser Of 3 Evils?

I'm a female in my 30's. I've had acne since I was 14. It was pretty bad during my 20's but it's calmed down a lot. Nowadays, I only break out prior to my period or when I'm extremely stressed. My diet is decent, I use great products that don't break me out, and the acne that I do get tends to be superficial, non inflamed acne that goes away fairly quickly. What's the problem, right? My problem is hyperpigmentation - I have marks on my skin from a year ago. I also have a problem with pic

    Day 40

12 days and no new spots - amazing! The last two spots are no longer visible under makeup; they're almost completely flat, but there is still some redness and I've also got redness from the spot that started on what, Day 9? No matter, I am feeling pretty good about my skin, so a bit of redness that can be concealed isn't going to bother me. I made French Toast for breakfast today....milk, cinnamon sugar AND maple syrup - damn they were good; must make them more often... or perhaps not! Any
  21. I am new to these message boards and am overwhelmed at the amount of good information available so I was hoping anyone with suggestions could help me out! I have hormonal cystic acne on my chin which has recently begun to spread up to my cheeks. It is adult on set as I had clear skin up until I was 24. At the time I was on Yasmin and the acne was only moderate, just a few blemishes at a time. A year ago I switched BC to Ortho Tri Cyclin and my acne cleared up 100% for 6 months. Then it

    Week 15 update

No news is good news....2 weeks post antibiotic treatment and continued use of benzoyl peroxide and no new spots.

    Week 8

Just a quick update but there really is nothing to tell. Still no new spots in 3 weeks... carrying on with using UltraClear (have not been using BP), plus vitamin D3 supplement and (what I think is the main reason I am staying clear)...very little dairy. Also, I am loving the AHA lotion, it makes my skin feel so smooth! Despite no new spots, I am still working on clearing the left side of my chin of hyperpigmentation and the last two spots I had are still a tiny bit inflamed, but thankfully

    Week 8 update

Quick update here....On week 6 I began to get yet another spot in the same damn area so I started using BP again. I started using it very lightly to begin with because I wanted to avoid my skin getting red and flaky. It seemed to work and my skin has now adjusted to the daily use and not becoming overly dry and I haven't had another spot since. It's only been two weeks, but my skin doesn't really feel like it's "on the verge" of a breakout, like it has since I started the antibiotics. I've just

    Personal Acne History

I just wanted to write a brief history of my experience with acne before going into writing accutane blogs. I have had acne since I was nine years old. When I was younger it was only a few pimples but it got worse throughout middle school. It seemed to calm down in high school and college but I still never had clear skin. Now after graduating college it has all flared up again. When I was in middle school I used Retin-A and differin topical creams that were prescribed to me by my primary c
