  1. So let me start off by saying am a 30 year old male. I have had pustules, palupes, whiteheads, blackheads, but mainly cysts and sometimes occasionally nodules, just about them all, I was seriously a mess, but rarely no body acne. I'd have them on my forehead, and mainly around my mouth, the infamous "T area". I thought it was abrasion, folliculitis (because I rarely got them on my forehead when my hair was short/buzzed, but when it grew out I'd get cysts right where the hair would be hitting my

    One Week

    From the album: Tactupump/Tactuo (Epiduo)

    - I Survived! I know, I know, there's still a while to go, but what may not look like huge progress as far as clearing my acne, I'm happy that things are getting going, and all that wonderful stuff that's been hiding out under my skin is ridding itself. At this point my routine is as follows: Morning: Wash face with Cetaphil (no face cloth, due to sensitivity) Neutrogena Alcohol free Toner Avene Clean-Ac Cream (hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic) (only after the recommendation of a friend

60 Days of No Skin Picking

I have dealt with acne for the past 4-5 years (I am now 25). My acne started when I went off my birth control. I know some people go back on it to fix their acne again, but I was didn’t want to use a band-aid and I knew one day I would want to have kids so I bit the bullet. The first 2-3 years I believe the acne was my hormones adjusting, but this past year and a half I don’t get anything cystic and I notice my breakouts get really annoying once I’ve been on a picking spree and squeezing all of
  5. Hello everyone! I am writing out of complete desperation. I have never felt this way about myself and I don't know what to do. I'm hoping someone on here will help. I've never had perfect skin. I've always had pimples that would come and go and I didn't have a problem with that. This past May I got a serious bf (I'm 26) so I went to the gyno to get birth control. She put me on avion and all hell broke lose. I would get big cystic pimples and nodules all the time. At first I thought it was mayb
  6. OK so.... I'm an idiot. Well, not really an idiot, but I honestly wonder why I did this to myself - and why I canNOT stop picking in a vengeful rage against my poor, poor face. I added extra glycolic acid to the parts that are in the picture as obviously red and messed up. The rest of my skin basically looks fine, though since cutting down to just 1G Pantothenic acid supplementing a day it is definitely getting oilier. Background info - I bought 70% Glycolic acid undiluted (extremely high pe
  7. Hi there. This is my second round of Accutane and I find myself wishing that I had a log from my first round (in 2009) to refer to. So starting this one to track my progress. I will try to keep it succinct as possible and plan to update at least weekly with photos. My main concerns: ability to continue weight training- already have pre-existing joint issues; dry skin and covering up IB for work; fatigue as I have two youngish kids (2&5) and work 12 hour shifts in the emergency department.
  8. I'm 21 years old and I've had clear skin for most of my life. Even when I ate junk food. Never really got serious acne in high school and barely did anything to my face, just water and body moisturizer or baby oil. Then came university. i started getting these pimples with large whiteheads all around my central chin. It was bad, it always occurred in the same spots and continued to get worse. It was so frustrating. On top of of that it scarred really really badly. Now I'm left with a circular r
  9. Hey guys. Im 32/F and have just started Spironolactone. Im only on 12.5mg because my doctor is being cautious as I have anorexia and my bp is already low and shes worried about it messing up my electrolytes as I usually have a problem with them being too low. But Id like to know if you guys think this amount will do anything. If my body handles this dosage, then in time she will up it to 25mg. Any thoughts will help!

  11. Hi! I just created this log to see how my acne behaves and maybe help other people who have the same doubts about this type of birth control pill. I have moderate acne and I've tried to control it with natural things. I started taking them on April 10, they are called Gynorelle but are almost the same as Belara* and they have 2mg Chlormadidone acetate + 0.02mg Ethynilestradiol. The Chlormadidone Acetate is the antiandrogenic component and there's 24 active pills and 4 placebos. I'll post u

  14. When I said my skin was the worst it has been in years, it's worse now. The cheek that wasn't as bad has started up. I have a massive thing in between my eyebrows and one on the side of my forehead. There is nothing to do but carry on.
  15. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he

    3 isolaz day 23

    From the album: Isolaz+Laser Genesis

After awhile I feel like it's not getting much better because every time when I do Isolaz, all the active acne would be flatten for 2-3 days. After that new pimples emerge from the remaining close comedones. It's like a never ending cycle. Plus my skin scars really badly. I can't have this going on like this! I really need to find a solution for those closed comedones.

How I cleared up my adult acne

I don't know if this will work for you, but it helped me so I wanted to share hoping it can help someone else. I have struggled with acne for a long time. I'm 31 now and had success with Accutane in my mid teens and again at college age, then Spironolactone when I was in my mid twenties. Spironolactone was the best! Until it wasn't. It stopped working for me after 3 years. I was so disappointed, I thought I'd found the answer. I started getting cystic acne again and it was brutal. It was all
  18. Hi! I have always had an issue with blocked pores/blackheads rimming my entire lip line, now they have spread to my chin. They don't all look exactly like black heads, just a blocked pore with white gunk sticking out. Sometimes, my skin feels rough. I have been using Retin A for the last month and maybe this is getting worse because of the retin a bringing everything to the surface? I do exfoliate once or twice a week. I moisturize and still not much improvement. I have spent hours trying to e
  19. From the album: retin-a micro: worth the wait? I took a picture of my face every week for 4 months

When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pr

  20. I have been using Tretinoin microsphere gel 0.1% and Minocycline 100mg (twice a day) for a couple of months now and I was on the acneeinstein.com website and the suggestion of taking zinc/Vitamin D3 pills was suggested. I wanted to ask and see if it was ok that I take these pills along with the medications that have been prescribed to me? thanks in advance.
  21. Hi, just hoping to get the word out there to the medical and science world. It seems that no one realizes that DIMETHICONE and TRIMETHICONE are REALLLLLLLY horrible for some people's skin. I look it up online and it says safe enough for babies. But I would feel so sorry for any baby who is having the same reaction that I have to these silicones in the creams and moisturizers. Please know, that my own dermatologists just assumed I had rosacea for nearly 20 years. They put me on a daily regim
  22. Hi everybody! Ive been dealing with a large amount of cheek acne for a little over a year and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions in getting rid of it. I'm 23 and just started getting acne about a year ago. As a teenager I really only had a zit every once in a while. It's quite upsetting because it really makes me feel self conscious and insecure and I'm afraid that it will scar. It came out of no where so I don't really know the exact cause. In looking at
  23. Just wanted to drop by and share my experience with spiro. I’m 34 female who has been struggling with hormonal acne on my jawline(big cysts) on and off for years. I was nervous and skeptical about going on spiro for years despite being told my multiple dermatologists that’s what I needed to be on. I was scared of having an initial breakout and the hormonal changes it would bring. I had read many negative experiences on this site as well that made me delay going on it until 7 months ago when
  24. Hey y’all, ive had acne my whole life. It’s genetic. The earliest memories I have of my mom is her gouging plugs from her face and by the time I was 13 I was doing the same. My skin has improved from birth control pills, but due to harsh side effects I had to stop. retinol has been very helpful, but I still have flare ups! My issue is the type of acne I have. My pores produce HUGE sebaceous filaments that get inflamed. After a shower I will use a black head remover and the hugest plug

    Postpartum Acne :(

I have been an acne sufferer since puberty. It got even worse when I started college, and my acne became moderately severe. I have tried lots of things with little success. I discovered The Regimen a few years back and follow it religiously, and it has helped. It became light to moderate acne, depending on the time of the month (I especially got flareups around my period and two weeks later during ovulation). Then I got pregnant and my skin looked amazing! My skin has NEVER been that
