    Day 40

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

Day 40 at 40 mg twice a day. I was feeling the best about my skin so far at this point! I ran a 5k this day in the beautiful but extremely humid Charleston, SC this day which accounts for a good deal of that redness. Everything on my face was flattening down and my skin was feeling so smooth. Starting to feel like a turn around!
  2. Hello all! I feel like such a fair weather friend here. I've been a member for a long time, but I really only visit when I'm having a horrible time with my adult acne. Now is one of those times. It's not that I'm not grateful for this very helpful website...it's just that I'm a mom, a wife, a college student, and I work! Whew! Right now, I don't feel like leaving the house, my acne is so bad. My latest acne remission was my being on Epiduo for about a year. When the Epiduo stopped
  3. Hey all. I am in my late 20's- Female- I started breaking out BAD about 2 years ago. Only on my chin cheeks and jawline, which I always read is hormonal. But its not just around that time of the month, its always. I have tons a hard cystic acne, rarely ever coming to a head, now scarring (and I don't pick) and leaving marks behind. It's MOSTLY on my left cheek and I wash my pillow cases, and clean my phone all the time. I've tried everything from Expensive brands, cheap brands,
  4. I have gotten desperate here. First, a brief history for you all. I have always been on A.D.D medication, if that is relevant. My acne started when I hit puberty. It wasn't just normal teenage acne, it was the kind that shows up when you google "acne". At the age of 17, in complete desperation, I took Accutane for 10 months. My skin was PERFECT and my self esteem was higher than it had ever been. Age 19, my acne came back and worse than ever. I was put on my second course of Accutane. Once
  5. I want to start off by saying I am a 21 year old female. I have NEVER had a problem with acne before. As a teenager I might have had a couple zits here and there but never full blown acne. I started the depo shot when I was 20 after being on it for 9 months I noticed really bad breakouts that would come and go. My doctor said to try one more cycle (1 shot, 3 months) to see if it would go away. The acne got worse at the end of the three months I decided I HAD to do something else. He put me on qu
  6. Hello, I wasn't planning on starting a log but I enjoy reading everyone elses so much I thought it was only fair if I wrote one too. I'm 36 and fed up with having bad skin. It's so embarrassing to be a "grown-up" with pimples on your face when every other person has perfectly clear skin. Nothing has worked so I decided to take the Accutane plunge. I've been reading a lot of posts on here and the side effects scare the crap out of me but I have no other options at this point. I just rea
  7. Hey guys, Looking for any advice here. I have an appointment with my derm in 3 and a half weeks but am a bit wary on what to do in the meantime. I'm 25. Around the age of 21, I started experiencing horrible adult acne. Painful cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin-- sent me into a pretty bad depression because I was really confused. Had never had anything more than a single pimple, and in my final year of college, my skin was a wreck. It took about a year of regimens (all the topicals, di
  8. Evening everyone. Having read many logs over the years I thought it would be good to share my ongoing experience of Isotretinion (accutane) this time round (second course). I was prescribed accutane four years ago (aged 19), it worked wonders for my skin and completely changed me. Four years on my acne has slowly crept back - although not to the extent of my teenage years! Now aged 23 I have now embarked on my second course (starting today), 40mg for the first eight weeks. What I wanted t

    Before Pictures

Okay so - I wanted to share some before pictures. This is when I had hit my breaking point... I would have seriously burned off my face if it meant a beautiful new one would magically appear. I had stopped going to the dermatologist because the one I was seeing wouldn't believe me when I said everything I was dealing with on my face was totally hormonal and none of the stuff I had was working. I had been seeing her for about a year and a half. LUCKILY I found someone else but anyway... here's th
  10. I have always had clean skin until April of this year that I started getting cystic acne. I don't know what's causing it I just know that I have tried so many things and none of them work. I went to the dermatologists who's injected me with about 8 cortisone shots this year alone and the cystic acne keeps coming back in the same places. I have to pay out of pocket at the dermatologist office and its getting so expensive. He gave me tretinoin cream, veltin, and a spray that smells like chlorine
  11. I have some questions regarding hormonal acne and the use of Yasmin and Spironolactone.. Hopefully this won't be too long-winded and lengthy.. Has anyone here had luck with replacing Yasmin with spironolactone to treat their (adult) hormonal acne? I don't want to be on Yasmin anymore because I believe that hormonal birth control leaves me with anxiety issues, I also experienced this on the NuvaRing as well. I am 26 and have PCOS which I believe is the root cause of my acne, so I need to be on

New Here :) Need Whitehead Advice

So it's been maybe a little less than a month since I completely stopped using my Clarisonic because I'm pretty sure it was doing more harm than good other keeping my skin smooth in the places where is wasn't breaking out. Soon after that, I stopped using acne medicated products altogether (currently using Cetaphil cleanser and witch hazel morning & night, Neutrogena Oil Free SPF 15 Moisturizer in the morning & CeraVe lotion at night). My breakouts have significantly reduced, b

    Returning acne

My acne which used to be on the right side of my face has now switched to the left. I have stopped taking oral contraceptives so expected some relapse of my skin but I feel that it is different and worse than before. Any advice for treatment (not hormonal even though this has been all that has worked in the past). Currently using eucerin regime for approx 3 weeks but acne has probably got worse in this time.

    Day 10

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

This photo was taken on my 10th dose, 40 mg once a day. My face was getting pretty irritated and burn-y at this point. But my skin was already improving!!

    Pulse Dye Laser-Vbeam

Hi, Has anyone on here had Pulse dye laser treatments? This page looks very promising, saying many people don't ever have to come back after they've done a run of treatments. And it works for cystic acne as well. It shrinks the sebaceous glands in the skin so that less acne can develop. http://www.bigappleskin.com/laser-for-acne.html Anyone? I just had it done a couple days ago, but of course its too early to tell.....

    Ziana Gel

My progress on Ziana Gel. Ive attached pictures to show how my skin looks after every week or so. I started Ziana December 1 2014, I experienced burning sensation sometimes due to using too much of the product. Not too much peeling, but I have oily skin. I didn't experience dryness, again due to oily skin..I believe. Ziana started working for me instantly. Reduced breakouts and helped breakouts heal faster, also helped dark spots shrink at a decent pace. Since using Ziana, I dont have t

    Why Me? Why Us?

Feeling really hopeless when it comes to my acne. I have had bad acne since I was ~14 and I am now 47, yes that's right, 47. It has been non-stop. Last week I had my second cyst that became inflamed, hot and red. My neck started swelling and hurt. So Friday on the way home from work I stopped to see my doctor because it just didn't seem right. He immediately sent me to the pharmacy for Bactrim antibiotic and a steroid to take immediately as I have cellulitis. In two hours time, my swellin
  18. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau
  19. I have had 2 facial acne extractions done and each time new whiteheads have formed. Just wondering if this is normal and the best way to treat it. * a semi big one popped on its own and I wasn't sure how to get the gunk out (I used comedome extractor).
  20. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and

    Day 26

Still not a lot to tell - which is a good thing! It's been a week since I had a new spot, and that one is still a lump which has not come to a head. I don't think it's going to either. The two spots from before are more or less flat now, but still in the process of healing, but with make-up, there are hidden fairly well. I am still using UltraClear on the spotty side of my chin and BP on the clear (but blemish prone) areas. I think the U/C is the best to use on the spots themselves. Not only doe

    Cycle 2 - 2nd Update

So...I started breaking out again about a week and half ago, so approximately 6 weeks after finishing the course of antibiotics. Urgh! What gives? I had a small cluster of cystic-type acne on the left side of my chin (always the left side!) and one under my left nostril. The cluster is healing now (but still red and lumpy) and the one under my nose is smaller than it was, but still a visible lump. I am more than a little worried that another lump is forming in the cluster area. It is not to
  23. Ok so I am in the midst of crisis and any kind of help or ideas would help. So I am 39 and have always had a fairly good complexion. No major problems with acne, not even as a teenager. About 3 months ago I started getting this big deep, subcutaneous lumps. One or two at first. I kept to my rutine thinking it must just be almost that time of the month. Within a week or so of the first my entire right cheek was covered i cystic acne and a forehead full of big, fat whiteheads! I freak out, which p
  24. Hi everyone. I've been on The Regimen since Dec. 2010, and after a lot of trial and error, it did, in fact, totally clear up my skin. (For the record, I'm 42, and have had adult acne for about 10 years.) I was so clear, in fact, that I only did BP once a day, on my chin (which had been the major flare-up point). I cleanse with Cetaphil and moisturize with CeraVe, which I absorbed MUCH better than Dan's moisturizer. I did this for a good 10 months with no breakouts. And then, suddenly, this last
  25. Gosh, I remember finding this site when I was struggling with my teenage acne 15 or so years ago. I just recently came across it again, as I am now 30 and my acne is flaring up. Some months and years have been better than others as with all who suffer from adult acne, but it just recently has become the worst it has ever been. I've tried it all - lots of BP regimens (but never Dan's). I used Proactiv for years did help a little, but nothing that stuck. For about 2 years now, I have been usi
