  1. Hi all! This is my first time posting any of my acne concerns to the wide world of the internet, but after losing hope in dermatologists and estheticians, I'm hoping to garner some practical advice from people that actually are going through what I'm going through. I'm 26 years old, and my first bout with acne was a mild case when I was 14 years old. After about a year of using a retinol creme, it disappeared and I had pretty flawless skin for the next 7-8 years or so. Occasionally, I wou

Hello everyone... Like many of you here, I have been lurking in these boards for quite a long time but just today I decided to create an account and hop into the ''fun''. The reason is probably that it seems to be one of the low days... I recently stopped antibiotics (after my derm's advice in order to put me in a course of ro-accutane) and even though it's been only a week, my skin has gone crazy. Especially during the weekend. So, I guess, unable to control all of this ''happiness'' alone,
  3. So I've lurked the site for some time now, however I this is my first time posting. Bear with me, this might be long. I'm 26 and am losing my mind due to my skin. I had perfect skin all throughout my teen years. Once I hit 21-22, it was like all hell broke loose on my face. Granted, it is not as bad as some, but I have made it worse. Compulsive picking and trying to "fix" my face have left my face scarred and red-marked all over. I have anxiety and I know that it doesn't help my picking proble

    So yeah...

So after my bad reaction to Obagi Skin Products (crazy regimen) this is how I look. I have no used the products in over a month and in fact, I returned them all and got my $700 (almost $800) back. I am still on accutane and will go into my third month now. I am requesting a higher dosage because I have been taking 20mg. I use SHea Moisture african soap in a cleanser form morning and night and that's it. I dont know what to do, part of me wants to look into buying the Acne.Org Regimen but i
  5. I am 22 about to turn 23 years old... and still have acne... I have tried everything from drastically changing my diet to using Acutane to drinking soooo much water, but still does not help the acne. I still get acne all the time although I have stuck to my diet hoping one day it will just go away! I have very oily skin and I assume that my sebum production levels are through the roof or my testosterone is through the roof as well... I am not sure what to think. I have started taking vitamin

    Adult acne worsening

I have always had stubborn acne, however in the last four months I've been getting a lot of acne on my neck. My dermatologist gave me differin and cliniderm and it has not helped my acne at all, it's next to impossible to see her. No matter what I do i wake up with more acne on my neck. I use baby dove, I use cheer laundry detergent (which I've never had an issue with) and I take allergy pills. Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried everything, I've tried using nothing and my skin is getting wo
  7. Hi folks, I'm a 35 year old male who has been battling acne since i was a teen. Id classifiy my acne as mild to moderate, enough to annoy me but not devastate me. My acne actually went away in my early 20's and came roaring back in my late 20's. My dermatologist at that point told me the genetic alterations that cause acne and be deactivated and activated by the body at any point so no acne really can never be cured. I tried all the prescription acne meds you can think of, even did 2 rds
  8. 12 years, I've been fighting, spending so much money, so much energy and so much time! I've tried it all, diets, natural remedies, antibiotics, creams, oils and accutane 3 times ( lost half my hair). Is the acne gone? Nope, in fact its as red as it has always been. I'm tired you guys, how do find ways to deal with it, I just wanna throw in the towel here. I'm sorry to vent like this, honestly, this forum is what gave me my small victories in the first place, but really are we meant to su

    Prescription started

My prescription just arrived and I couldn't have ripped open the packaging any faster. I don't know if this is the worst breakout I've ever had - but it definitely feels like it. It feels like my body has attacked my face. There also seems to be slow improvement; maybe because the spots have all been so big. If this drug starts working as quickly as it has in the past, I reckon I'll be lucky to have relatively clear skin (as in not much hyperpigmentation left) in 6-8 weeks. Even once these spot
  10. hi all, after reading some good advice here it seems ive got rid of my nasty red, adult acne (i mainly needed to avoid BP cream / milk & start using vitamins) I've just got some post acne marks / light, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation to deal with. - after reading advice here, i started using sun screen. i understand lemon juice is quite effective at fading post acne marks but what's the correct way to apply it(?) and am i correct in thinking it takes months to work? Stubborn Cyst - Please Help!

I have had a cyst on the side of my chin since August and it refuses to go away! I am female, 44 years old and have had oily, acne prone skin for as long as I can remember. I had trouble with cysts in my early twenties, but not so much anymore. I get one about every 5 years and they usually take a month to go away, but not this one. I have tried everything over the counter that I know exists and have been to the derm twice to have it injected with cortisone, Last injection was almost 3 week

    What Is My Next Step?

I'm a 21 male with acne on my face. I first got acne when I was a preteen and i've never been clear since. I did get it on my back, shoulders, and legs, but that has since cleared up. I'm a vegetarian, and try to eat very little dairy, and don't eat junk food or fast-food. I've broken habits of pinching/touching my face and acne, and by now lost my acne scars. I do however wear makeup, mostly foundation and powder on top of that. I only wear hypoallergenic products, and always wash it off the m
  13. Hello Everyone, Feeling a lil depressed and couldn't any better place to share how I am feeling today. I finished a 7months accutane 40mg course in Feb this year. Its been exactly 3 months post accutane today and i felt its coming again. No pain, no bumps , no pastules but I am just feeling large red spots on my face with accompanying white heads. I did have post acne red spots but today it seems a bit too much. Is this acne? Not sure if its acne coming back or it could just be p

    7 Months

So it's been exactly 7 months since I first started Accutane. My doctor FINALLY realized the dose and length of time needed and so I have 2 more months to go. I have been clear (no cysts) since January and it is the best feeling ever. I actually have had the occasional nightmare about getting a cyst, shows how scared I am to go back to that life. My red marks have faded and the only place I use concealer now is under my eyes. It truly has transformed my life physically, emotionally and socially.

    Adult Cystic Acne With Swelling

I'm in my early 30's and for the past few years I have been getting cystic type nodule acne. I had a huge one on my chin a few years back that left a really good scar but this new one is making me crazy. I started feeling a lot of pressure like sinus almost (right under my eyebrow on the side of my nose) then noticed a zit forming so I cleaned the spot (I usually use a mix of apple cider vinegar and water or lemon juice)... The zit was there I never picked at it just kept it clean I thought i
  16. Hi All, I am 31 years old and have been suffering from Adult Acne for the last year- ever since I went off of my birth control pill and had a Copper IUD put in. When I was on BC my skin was effortlessly perfect for years, and since then I almost always have 3-4 spots including cysts that take forever to heal. I've tried mandelic acid peels and tee tree oil, both of which worked in the beginning and then stopped. I am getting married in 6 months and desperately want to stop this acne. I am goin
  17. Got cortisone injections for my cysts today. Sometimes my doctor seems to put the injection a little away from the nodule rather than directly in it? Anyone else have this experience? Will the injection still work?

Age 25 And Going Through Cystic Acne

I haven't really had the need to return back to Acne.org for a few years when I got over acne. When I was 18, I broke out all over my face and struggled with finding the right skincare products and taking regular trips to the dermatologist. Since then, I've only had mild breakouts and have kept them under control. All of a sudden, I'm experiencing a whole other new kind of breakout: adult cystic acne. For the last 2-3 months, I've been breaking out in cysts. They are large, painful, under-th

Hello everyone. I just wanted to start keeping track and hopefully get some feedback on my experience with Ziana. I'm a 25 yr old male and have had acne on and off since high school. In the past few months, it has taken a major turn and has become much worse than normal. I have mild/moderate acne consisted of closed red comedones across my forehead, a few small pimples on my cheeks, and about 10 across my jawline. Most are a mix between whiteheads, blackheads & cystic. I went to the de
  20. Hi all, I have been turning to acne.org for the past seven years, ever since my first major breakout. I have never posted, but used other contributor's stories to help myself get through tough times with my acne. I have been using the regimen now for seven years, and I'd like to think that it has helped keep major breakouts at bay, although I do suffer from more than an occasional breakout (cystic acne and scarring). I'm 27 now, and starting to break out quite a bit again. The older I g
  21. I'm a male in my 20's am finally able to gain some control over my long battle with acne since age 14. The past 6 years have been a never ending cycle of OTC products and dermatology visits. I've tried every product from every brand such as Proactive to Clean&Clear, Neutrogena, Oxy, ZapZyt, etc. When that didn't work, I started seeing the dermatologist who had be doing Dove soap, Retin-A, and Doxycycline. When that stopped working, I played around with regimens using Dial gold bar, Witch Haz

    Chacne (Or Chin Acne)

Okay so in the past year I've been breaking out on my chin. Some of the zits are tiny and some are quite big. It's funny because I used to break out on my forehead in similar acne as a teenager, but now it seems to have moved to my chin (my forehead is clear). Anyways, it's really frustrating because it keeps coming back. I've been using the Regimen and so far it's been keeping it quite better but my main problem is that whenever food or toothpaste touches my chin or mouth area, I break out! I d
  23. So a few months ago I had the worst breakout I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure if it was random or due to some treatments that I was trying at the time. I stopped doing everything. I went straight caveman regimen to try and help and it seemed like it helped a little. The only things I do now is use tamanu oil for HIP and I've been taking some vitamins and I even went and bought a filtered showerhead for my shower to help filter the water I use on my face. It just seems like nothing I'm doin
  24. I'm 22 years old and have been dealing with acne since I was about 14. It started with normal white heads, black heads, etc. and i was young and going through puberty and have naturally oily skin anyway. I was frustrated when generic otc medications wouldn't work so i visited a dermatologist. I was prescribed dioxycycline first, then minocycline, and it all worked for a few weeks and the acne was back. By now I'm 16 or 17 and still having issues with acne and won't take the antibiotics because t

    Week 13 update

Last Monday I took my last antibiotic tablet. I'm still using bp every night on my problem area and I haven't had any new spots since I started doing this. From past experience, the earliest my skin has started breaking out post-antibiotic treatment has been about 10 days, so the fact that I'm 6 days in without incident is not surprising. I have gone 3-4 weeks before it started and even as long as 4 months, however, I have never been using bp when I stopped the treatment, so I am really, really
