  3. I have had 2 facial acne extractions done and each time new whiteheads have formed. Just wondering if this is normal and the best way to treat it. * a semi big one popped on its own and I wasn't sure how to get the gunk out (I used comedome extractor).
  4. I just got the Neutrogena Rapid Tone repair day and night moisturizers. The only difference I've really noticed is a slightly different texture, and a lack of SPF in the night version. So, why are there two different ones. I know many people use different ones at night than during the day. Is this necessary? Is it due to the SPF, more potent ingredients, the difference in texture, or what? I was previously using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer, and I used it both day and night and didn
  5. Hello everyone! I am writing out of complete desperation. I have never felt this way about myself and I don't know what to do. I'm hoping someone on here will help. I've never had perfect skin. I've always had pimples that would come and go and I didn't have a problem with that. This past May I got a serious bf (I'm 26) so I went to the gyno to get birth control. She put me on avion and all hell broke lose. I would get big cystic pimples and nodules all the time. At first I thought it was mayb
  6. I'm writing this on here in an effort to maybe help someone else going through a similar situation. I'm 31 years old and NEVER had problems with acne growing up. I started breaking out at 25 and my breakouts turned into an outright situation this past January and I tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Everyday a new pimple popped up on my jawline or neck, no matter what I did. The only breakthrough occurred when I decided to get back on the BP (I had gotten off for a few years just to see if I could a
  7. Hey, friends. So I had this thought - perhaps I'd reach out to this community and see if anyone has gone through a similar thing as I am, in hopes of learning more of what my body is trying to tell me, find out what worked for others, and get my skin clear! I know I can do this... I just have to find what works for me. :} A quick background. 25 now, went through the usual acne stuff in my teens, but had it 100% under control with whatever topicals the derm prescribed. Never had any issu
  8. Hi everyone. I've been on The Regimen since Dec. 2010, and after a lot of trial and error, it did, in fact, totally clear up my skin. (For the record, I'm 42, and have had adult acne for about 10 years.) I was so clear, in fact, that I only did BP once a day, on my chin (which had been the major flare-up point). I cleanse with Cetaphil and moisturize with CeraVe, which I absorbed MUCH better than Dan's moisturizer. I did this for a good 10 months with no breakouts. And then, suddenly, this last
  9. Do you know that Genetics is majorly responsible for adult ACNE? Research has shown that genetics is mostly responsible for adult acne(about 81%).Researchers at the ST. Thomas Hospital conducted a large study on the influence of genetics on twins' acne; 458 pairs of identical female twins and 1099 pairs of fraternal twins paricipated. They discovered that 81% of the difference in acne between pairs was attributed to Genetics.the remaining 19% was attributed to environmental factors such as diet a
  10. Hey guys, I just joined this forum so firstly, hello! Up until a few months ago I've suffered with red raw acne on my cheeks and jawline. I'm no longer a teenager (by a long shot!) so did some research and yes, I'm pretty sure I was a sufferer of adult acne. Luckily I have a wonderful friend in the states who recommended Paula's Choice to me, as she's been using their products for a long while to treat blackheads and the occasional breakout. At first I was a bit cynical about it all

How I cleared up my adult acne

I don't know if this will work for you, but it helped me so I wanted to share hoping it can help someone else. I have struggled with acne for a long time. I'm 31 now and had success with Accutane in my mid teens and again at college age, then Spironolactone when I was in my mid twenties. Spironolactone was the best! Until it wasn't. It stopped working for me after 3 years. I was so disappointed, I thought I'd found the answer. I started getting cystic acne again and it was brutal. It was all
  12. Hello everyone. New to these forums (I've visited them in the past but never posted.) 27 year old female with moderate acne (including cysts) on my face and back. X-posted most of this on the personal regimen logs but I know that's not the right place to ask questions, so that's why I'm posting here...My new regimen for Week 2 (2/21 - 2/27): Morning1. Cleanse2. Tone (I know most toners are a waste of $$, but she actually sells good toners with antioxidants and adds skin hydration, and I like th
  13. Hey all. I am in my late 20's- Female- I started breaking out BAD about 2 years ago. Only on my chin cheeks and jawline, which I always read is hormonal. But its not just around that time of the month, its always. I have tons a hard cystic acne, rarely ever coming to a head, now scarring (and I don't pick) and leaving marks behind. It's MOSTLY on my left cheek and I wash my pillow cases, and clean my phone all the time. I've tried everything from Expensive brands, cheap brands,

    Can I Take Accutane?

My question: Is accutane a possibility for me? I have moderate adult acne for the past year, and have been prescribed things like acanya, atralin, tri luma, and all have made my skin worse. Also I have taken minocyline pills the last 6 months. Right now I started a new regiment for the past 2 weeks using clindamycin gel in the morning and ziana in the evening, I also take 75mg of minocyline pills in the morning. My face is not producing many new big pimples or zits, but I have a lot of discolo
  15. Hello, I am curious to know how to tell if your have Acne due to to much bad estrogen or if it is caused by to much testosterone. I know a hormone test would obviosuly tell you the answers but unfortunately i can not afford those. I am looking to seek a treatment but i don't want to use a testosterone booster if my acne is caused by to much testosterone. How can you tell? I have super oily skin - but im italian and always have also my sex drive is kinda low but thats mainly because i dont fe

    Day 10

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

This photo was taken on my 10th dose, 40 mg once a day. My face was getting pretty irritated and burn-y at this point. But my skin was already improving!!
  17. Hey guys, I am so grateful that there is a place like this where I can go to get some type of relief. I have always had blemishes here and there and when I was 23 had a three month long outbreak that nearly killed me. I was depressed, loosing weight and not leaving my house. Now at 26 I went for three years with fairly clear skin. YAZ and Sulfur antibiotics helped to clear me up pretty quickly. After about a year some smaller breakouts would occur so I stopped with the antibiotics and birth cont
  18. Hello, I wasn't planning on starting a log but I enjoy reading everyone elses so much I thought it was only fair if I wrote one too. I'm 36 and fed up with having bad skin. It's so embarrassing to be a "grown-up" with pimples on your face when every other person has perfectly clear skin. Nothing has worked so I decided to take the Accutane plunge. I've been reading a lot of posts on here and the side effects scare the crap out of me but I have no other options at this point. I just rea
  19. Gosh, I remember finding this site when I was struggling with my teenage acne 15 or so years ago. I just recently came across it again, as I am now 30 and my acne is flaring up. Some months and years have been better than others as with all who suffer from adult acne, but it just recently has become the worst it has ever been. I've tried it all - lots of BP regimens (but never Dan's). I used Proactiv for years did help a little, but nothing that stuck. For about 2 years now, I have been usi
  20. Just curious - has anyone found a gentle yet effective skincare routine/line of products? I am 32 years old with hormonal acne, isolated to my chin, ranging from mild (whiteheads) to severe (cysts) and even sometimes clear. I tend to go for products that are probably too harsh, doing more harm than good. With this type of acne, I'm not expecting a product to "cure me"...I just want to be good to my skin, and not exacerbate the problem. Just looking for your thoughts/suggestions! Thanks

New Here :) Need Whitehead Advice

So it's been maybe a little less than a month since I completely stopped using my Clarisonic because I'm pretty sure it was doing more harm than good other keeping my skin smooth in the places where is wasn't breaking out. Soon after that, I stopped using acne medicated products altogether (currently using Cetaphil cleanser and witch hazel morning & night, Neutrogena Oil Free SPF 15 Moisturizer in the morning & CeraVe lotion at night). My breakouts have significantly reduced, b
  22. So thanks to the GI problems I started having my doctor has put me off all medications except one that I'm taking to help fix my GI. Until that's resolved she told me she I can't try a new birth control or any other oral medication. I'm having an EDG on the 9th which will hopefully tell me what exactly is wrong. The specialist I saw thinks it could be both an ulcer and acid reflux, which someone else also said could have possibly come from being on birth control and also taking a ton of advil fr
  23. I have gotten desperate here. First, a brief history for you all. I have always been on A.D.D medication, if that is relevant. My acne started when I hit puberty. It wasn't just normal teenage acne, it was the kind that shows up when you google "acne". At the age of 17, in complete desperation, I took Accutane for 10 months. My skin was PERFECT and my self esteem was higher than it had ever been. Age 19, my acne came back and worse than ever. I was put on my second course of Accutane. Once
  24. Hello I have been using the regimen for about 7 months now and it has worked pretty well so far. Last week, I suddenly started breaking out on the right side of my face. I have a lot of active breakouts currently. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary for this to happen, but it is all over the right side of my face. Still continuing the regimen, but wondering if anyone could provide more guidance or reasoning behind this to avoid future occurrences.
