    Dairy Free Diet

After some research I’m trying a dairy free diet to help control my acne . I'm also taking Spiro 100 mg a day, ortho tri cyclen, and using Azelaic Acid Finacea 15% morning and night. To be honest at this point I would try pretty much anything. The research I’ve read says that the acne causing hormones are in all milk products so I'm are completing cutting out dairy. No milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, chocolate ect. It’s going to be hard but if it clears my acne I can live without it. Toda

Is This Acne Or Rosacea? (Pics)

I'm 30 years old and have had extremely clear skin my entire life. About 3 months ago, overnight it seems, my left cheek broke out in a flushed patch of red bumps. The bumps come and go and move around, sometimes I have whiteheads and sometimes just red bumps, and some days that cheek is redder than other days, but the whole thing is still completely isolated to only my left cheek. I tried every acne face wash and product on the market- nothing helped. After googling, I pretty much diagnosed mys
  3. I have gotten desperate here. First, a brief history for you all. I have always been on A.D.D medication, if that is relevant. My acne started when I hit puberty. It wasn't just normal teenage acne, it was the kind that shows up when you google "acne". At the age of 17, in complete desperation, I took Accutane for 10 months. My skin was PERFECT and my self esteem was higher than it had ever been. Age 19, my acne came back and worse than ever. I was put on my second course of Accutane. Once
  4. Hey guys, Looking for any advice here. I have an appointment with my derm in 3 and a half weeks but am a bit wary on what to do in the meantime. I'm 25. Around the age of 21, I started experiencing horrible adult acne. Painful cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin-- sent me into a pretty bad depression because I was really confused. Had never had anything more than a single pimple, and in my final year of college, my skin was a wreck. It took about a year of regimens (all the topicals, di

    My Story, Advice needed!

Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  6. Gosh, I remember finding this site when I was struggling with my teenage acne 15 or so years ago. I just recently came across it again, as I am now 30 and my acne is flaring up. Some months and years have been better than others as with all who suffer from adult acne, but it just recently has become the worst it has ever been. I've tried it all - lots of BP regimens (but never Dan's). I used Proactiv for years did help a little, but nothing that stuck. For about 2 years now, I have been usi

    Epiduo experience

hi im starting epiduo gel today...wanted to know what are your experiences with this treatment. Im skeptical..been on bp for a long time but not doing much so thought I should try it with the retinoid and see what happens. Any help appreciated! Thanks x x x
  8. Hi, I am new to this forum but I'm hoping it can help me out. I live in Connecticut. I'm 22 yrs old in college and I have had consistent acne since I was 16 years old (6 years now). I have seen dermatologists when I was younger but haven't in the past 3 years. My acne fluctuates from mild/moderate/ to severe and right now its getting to severe for no apparent reason. Over the past 6 years my clear skin has progressively become damaged looking, my pores are large, my skin is oily and red, and my
  9. Hey guys, I just joined this forum so firstly, hello! Up until a few months ago I've suffered with red raw acne on my cheeks and jawline. I'm no longer a teenager (by a long shot!) so did some research and yes, I'm pretty sure I was a sufferer of adult acne. Luckily I have a wonderful friend in the states who recommended Paula's Choice to me, as she's been using their products for a long while to treat blackheads and the occasional breakout. At first I was a bit cynical about it all
  10. Just curious - has anyone found a gentle yet effective skincare routine/line of products? I am 32 years old with hormonal acne, isolated to my chin, ranging from mild (whiteheads) to severe (cysts) and even sometimes clear. I tend to go for products that are probably too harsh, doing more harm than good. With this type of acne, I'm not expecting a product to "cure me"...I just want to be good to my skin, and not exacerbate the problem. Just looking for your thoughts/suggestions! Thanks
  11. I'm writing this on here in an effort to maybe help someone else going through a similar situation. I'm 31 years old and NEVER had problems with acne growing up. I started breaking out at 25 and my breakouts turned into an outright situation this past January and I tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Everyday a new pimple popped up on my jawline or neck, no matter what I did. The only breakthrough occurred when I decided to get back on the BP (I had gotten off for a few years just to see if I could a

  13. Hey there, been a long time reader and a five year adult acne sufferer. When I was a teenager I didn't have many pimples at all, but I was given the HORRIBLE advice that it was okay to pop them =( Fast forward to being an adult- late 20's and hormone changes and thinking it was okay to pop a zit.. and a terrible mess ensued. I've used- Proacive, Acne-Free (from the store), accutane, solodyn with clyndamiacin and adalapene gels, etc etc Finally, I stopped using everything on my fac

    Day 1

Day 1. 9:00 Washed with Proactive added pure aloe gel or scabs along with Simple 24 hr day/night cream. Skin on forehead so oily by 1:00 Thinking about somehow adding more BP to the proactive cream. I like the way the system works and it suppresses around 80% of it but it doesn't stop my face from getting oily and it doesn't keep the CC away. Food: Breakfast Vegan pancakes (banana, Egg, vanilla &honey), Lunch: Chicken, gluten free corn chips. Drank a LOT of water though with Crystal l
  15. Hi everyone. I've been on The Regimen since Dec. 2010, and after a lot of trial and error, it did, in fact, totally clear up my skin. (For the record, I'm 42, and have had adult acne for about 10 years.) I was so clear, in fact, that I only did BP once a day, on my chin (which had been the major flare-up point). I cleanse with Cetaphil and moisturize with CeraVe, which I absorbed MUCH better than Dan's moisturizer. I did this for a good 10 months with no breakouts. And then, suddenly, this last
  16. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and

    Dry dry dry

I started thinking that maybe my last post was a little spammy so I'm just gonna say real quick that I am in no way affiliated with Clarisonic or any distributor. I've been lusting after one for about a year now and scored a good Black Friday deal lol so that being said - DANG! It has been so cool and dry in SoCal lately, my skin will not stop looking red and peeling! I don't want to kick Triretnoin from my regimen so I decided I'm going to back off the Clarisonic a little bit and only do it

    How to Fight Adult Acne

One of those things that are rarely put in the same context is acne and wrinkles. In the majority of cases, acne start to emerge at the beginning of teenage days and usually leave us as we enter our twenties. However, it does happen that people start having acne issues once they begin their adult life, as well as later on. Naturally, all of them are surprised by this occurrence and puzzled by it not knowing what to do. If you’re one of those people, do not despair. Here is how to fight adult acn
  19. Hello friends! Im 26 and new to this site. A few days ago I had a sudden breakout of probably ten whiteheads overnight. Today I have over 40, and my face is very bumpy (washing it feels crazy). It's starting to itch and sting a bit, but I try my best not to touch my face. My acne is all over my cheeks, around the mouth and some down on my neck. My forehead and temple are flawless. Before breaking out, I had switched my cleanser from Neutrogena stress free cream to Alba deep pore gel (becau

    Cycle 2 - 2nd Update

So...I started breaking out again about a week and half ago, so approximately 6 weeks after finishing the course of antibiotics. Urgh! What gives? I had a small cluster of cystic-type acne on the left side of my chin (always the left side!) and one under my left nostril. The cluster is healing now (but still red and lumpy) and the one under my nose is smaller than it was, but still a visible lump. I am more than a little worried that another lump is forming in the cluster area. It is not to

    Merry Christmas

Just a quick update here. Still not a whole lot to say - no new spots which probably means the antibiotics are starting to work. However, those two big spots between my mouth and nose are actually four. Four! WTF My skin is really dry though I am trying to keep it moisturised. I am no longer using BP all over my problem area because I know the antibiotics should take care of that. I still need to make an appointment for the New Year to get a dermatologist referral... So...yes, slightly
  22. So let me start off by saying am a 30 year old male. I have had pustules, palupes, whiteheads, blackheads, but mainly cysts and sometimes occasionally nodules, just about them all, I was seriously a mess, but rarely no body acne. I'd have them on my forehead, and mainly around my mouth, the infamous "T area". I thought it was abrasion, folliculitis (because I rarely got them on my forehead when my hair was short/buzzed, but when it grew out I'd get cysts right where the hair would be hitting my
  23. Evening everyone. Having read many logs over the years I thought it would be good to share my ongoing experience of Isotretinion (accutane) this time round (second course). I was prescribed accutane four years ago (aged 19), it worked wonders for my skin and completely changed me. Four years on my acne has slowly crept back - although not to the extent of my teenage years! Now aged 23 I have now embarked on my second course (starting today), 40mg for the first eight weeks. What I wanted t
  24. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi

    Day 0- Feeling Frustrated!

Hi guys and girls! I'm 28 and have been suffering with acne on and off for over 10 years. I've attached some pics of my current outbreak. I've pretty much been on every medication available except Roaccutane. The only medication i've used in the past which has completely cleared my skin long term is Dianette. However my doctor will not prescribe me this anymore as I occasionally have migranes with aura and apparently this heightens my chance of a stroke. VERY FRUSTRATING My curren
