  1. So a little backround, I am an 18 y/o female that has had mild yet consistant acne for the past 4 years. I don't scar but I can have some hyperpigmentation. I had a bad breakout a couple months ago so I went on the regimen and made a derm appointment. I've been on the regimen for about 6-7 weeks now and I have seen much improvement but I decided to go to my derm anyway. She perscribed aczone and epiduo. Currently I am mainly getting clogged pores every couple days that eventually turn into smal

    It's A Long Story...

Isn't that what we tell all the dermatologists who we see, now? "Sooo, it all started when..." blah blah blah. So my story sounds a lot like what I've already heard so many times on this site. I'm 25, female, and have battled acne on and off since middle school. In high school, proactiv controlled it somewhat so that it was manageable. But my freshman year in college my periods went crazy, I got ovarian cysts, and my skin opened up a can of whop ass on me. Proactiv was no match for th

    Going of YAZ

Hi, I have been on Yaz for a little more than a year. It has done wonders for my skin. I also use Tazorac and Aczone. However, I don't like being on the pill and want to quit taking it sooner rather than later, but I'm worried that it will absolutely wreak havoc on my skin! BUT I have an idea: does anyone have any experience with acupuncture? I have done some research and have heard that it can help "balance hormones" and am wondering if that could successfully get me off birth control and free

Well... I have just began using aczone a week ago and my acne is definitely getting worse. I don't know what to do because I read online that most acne medicines tend to get worse before they get better because the acne lurking beneath the skin needs to come out (or something like that...) I was wondering if anyone else's acne has gotten worse at first and then began to get better?
  5. Hi all, So I've been using Differin .3% at night (spot treat w/ aczone) and had a horrible IB that I am still recovering from, along side my already fabulous acne and PIH. I am scheduled to begin Isotretinoin 5/9/11. I am concerned, obviously about another IB. My derm wants me to stay this course until the differin becomes too much (I laugh at this bc all hell broke loose about two weeks after starting differin and lasted nearly six weeks) And though I see some MINOR improvements, Isotretinoin
  6. My face is pretty clear. My chest and middle back is not though. I was taking alot of vita b5 and it dried it all up nice, so i wasnt going to go see the derma, I started applying head and shoulders classic clean and I got so many red bumps on my back, so I went and seen the derma. He prescribed me 3 different medicines. I only have acne on my back is it normal for a doc to prescribe that much. I got taz, aczone and doryx. It all cost about 200 with the visit and the medicines I geuss my insura
  7. Hi, I'm selling four 30 gram sealed, 5% dapsone gel vials of Aczone gel for $100 each. Of course, I will match any price from a legitimate source (other than lower copays since you can buy them at a cheaper price). Hope this helps those of us who want clearer skin care products but without going broke (literally!) first. E-mail me at becster555 at aol dot com.
  8. Hey guys! I'm new to the forum but I've been to this site many times in the past. I want to let you know that I have suffered with acne in the past and it will get better for you. I had a really bad picking habit and I was very depressed but I can tell you my life has turned around and my acne is finally 99.9% better/practically gone. I now run my own Website Gladazzle.com where I talk about beauty, fashion and health topics and I have a YouTube Channel where I talk about skincare, makeup and al

    Tazorac & Aczone

I have a quick question about my recent change in acne prescriptions. I've been on .1 gel Tazorac since march which has been working pretty well but still breaking out regularly. My derm recently switched me to the .1 cream and added aczone. At first my skin looked and felt great but a week or so in I am looking very clogged and getting lots of inflamed bumps. Aczone seems to calm the bumps but only after they've formed. Also aczone does not cause initial breakouts. Is my decrease in Tazorac s
  10. i have been using retin a, on and off. i find it helps alot with evening my complexion and with black heads, not with inflamed pimples,. so my question, has anyone used retin a and aczone at the same time? and how did it work out? as it is my face is quite dry from the retin a right now, and im a ltitle scared to use the aczone?... anyone?
  11. So, I have just been prescribed Aczone for my severe acne. I have tried all other topicals to no avail. I do not want Acutane at this point. I also just got an oral perscription for sulfa something or other. Question - Has anyone used a benzoyl wash, toner, exfoliant (salicilic acid 2%), aczone, then light moisturizure with good success?" At night I was directed to switch the aczone for tazorac. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! Shannon
  12. Hi, guys! I've recently been put on benzoyl peroxide (2.5%) and clindamycin, along with AcZone. I have been noticing a brown gunky residue coming off of my face (peely and balled up, not flaky) around my hairline and eyebrows. I'm not sure if I'm not waiting long enough to put moisturizer on afterwards, or if the product itself is reacting badly with oils from my hair. Thanks for any insight you can give! ~Olivia
  13. Since accutane is vitamin A and topical retinoids are Vitamin A also can't they be use to slow down the production of oil? Kinda like a topical accutane? My acne is moderate along with the fact that my face produces enough oil to provide a family a years worth of oil I've been on a good amount of antibiotics which didn't do much for me but not alot of topicals treatments. Since the chances of me getting accutane are low. What can retinoids do for me? Edit: Also, after doing alot of searching
  14. Dapsone 5% topical gel Aczoneâ„¢ http://www.multum.com/dapsone.htm Dapsone in a gel formulation, at concentrations of 3 and 5% has been experimentally used for the last 3 years. It appears to be a new and promising therapeutic modality for moderate to moderately severe acne. It has not been available in the past as it is highly insoluble in the aqueous solvents traditionally used in dermatological preparations. New technologies provide a formulation based on the solvent ethoxydiglycol, whi
  15. I read a post about Aczone, this new miracle acne gel, so I checked it out. According to Wikipedia: "In December 2008, a 5% dapsone gel called Aczone was introduced to the prescription market as a treatment for moderate to severe acne." "Dapsone (diamino-diphenyl sulfone) is a pharmacological medication most commonly used in combination with rifampicin and clofazimine as multidrug therapy (MDT) for the treatment of Mycobacterium leprae infections (leprosy)." "To deal with dapsone resistant

Hello- I am going to be stopping my Aczone use after 7 weeks of not-so-great results. The derm prescribed me Benzacln, but I am worried about starting the topical antibiotic. Has anyone tried this soluCLENZ? It's a somewhat new Benzoyl Peroxide formula. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  17. can somebody please help me I have struggled with acne since 7th grade and I am now a senior in high school and acne has made my life completely miserable going to school is hell for me because of my acne I have tried DUAC,TAZORAC,DEOXYCLINE,RETIN-A,CLINDAGEL,DIFFERIN,ACZONE, and none of them have helped me out at all, I have an appointment with my dermatologist on June 4th and I was wondering if FINACEA works I have read the blogs here and I have read a lot of positive things about finacea
  18. Hey guys, I was prescribed ziana and aczone, and was told to use the aczone twice a day and ziana at night. I seem to have forgotten what the derm. said about how to apply at night though. Does the aczone go on first followed by the ziana upon drying? It seems like that'd make the most sense. Thanks!
  19. Anyone who is/has been on these two medications, please tell me how your experience was! I just finished week two and my skin is definitely more dry, but it's not too bad because I do moisturize and that helps. I have noticed a few new small pimples and I know that could be the initial breakout because it's pushing all the bumps under my skin, through. Just wondering what I should expect based on your experiences? if it's worth it to stick through. I never had acne growing up, just recently I s

    8 Weeks Off Epuris

Thought I'd give a short little update on my progress. I was on Epuris from November 2014 until mid-February 2015. I stopped my treatment about 20 days before I was supposed to, because I just couldn't do it anymore. My mental state was just not... the best during these months. It was probably unrelated to the medication, but I believe that the medication may have just topped it all off. Anyway, as per my last post, I'm in such a better place. You'd be surprised how much happier you are whe
  21. So, right now I'm on the Aczone and Differin treatment. I take apply Aczone once in the morning, then Differin once at night. I also take Solodyn orally every morning. I've been on this treatment for about 4 weeks and I'm curious to hear other people's experience with this regimen (or regimen like it). I don't feel as if it's making much of a difference. My skin peels a lot and is almost always dry (which is irritating). At first, I thought it was just because I was starting a new regimen, but I
  22. ok, so ive been wondering...Before you apply your topical perscription meds to your face, do you HAVE to wash your face? I mean would it make a difference if you didnt the time you were using the medication? I havent been using a cleanser the entire time using Aczone and Epiduo... I thought i was ONLY supposed to use those 2 things. no other cleansers or anything... so heres my question in a nutshell: Will washing your face before application of topicals affect your results? ive been wonderi

    Beginning Intro

First off, this is a blog to track my personal progress as I'm sick of writing it in different journals and losing it...also I'm hoping to come to some insights from others along the way. I'm trying to figure out the cause of my acne which I feel is next to impossible, but I do think I can maybe figure out what things make it better and worse. For that reason I may also include diet information and what day of my cycle I'm on. Sorry if that is too personal for you but this is kind of an experi

    Before Pictures

Okay so - I wanted to share some before pictures. This is when I had hit my breaking point... I would have seriously burned off my face if it meant a beautiful new one would magically appear. I had stopped going to the dermatologist because the one I was seeing wouldn't believe me when I said everything I was dealing with on my face was totally hormonal and none of the stuff I had was working. I had been seeing her for about a year and a half. LUCKILY I found someone else but anyway... here's th

Just wondering i went to my derm last week and showed him the coupon for aczone and wanted to get a free trial or prescription he said he never heard of it and said no for prescription i was pissed cuz he ended up prescribing me the same thing i been using for years. anyway is is possible to just call up different derms and see if i can just get a free trial of the cream with out appointment since i dont have insurance and dont want to make a appointment.
