  1. Hi readers, I apologize for not updating in awhile, but I hadn't had much change to write about until now. I just entered my 4th month on Zenatane and have noticed a few new things. First off, my skin is about 99% clear right now! Its a wonderful feeling to be able to just walk outside without any makeup on and feel confident. I have noticed some minor scaring and a few very tiny ice pick marks but I am trying not to be too concerned about them because I know isotretenoin can make scars more
  2. DIET: Being in an acne safe diet means cutting certain foods from your every day diet. Give it a period of 35 days to up to 3 months to see this truly works for you. But trust me, give it a real fair shot! NO: Dairy, Coffee (yes coffee!!), gluten, sugary drinks, alcohol, sugar (cut it out), seaweed, turkey, shrimp, and SOY (yes even soy milk, so no more soy lattes please. Make your self a favor and get more involved into cooking rather than eating out. Restaurants tend to use a ton of che

    Day 1~2

I decided to document my 6 months journey on Oratane (isotretinoin) and I just this website so I decided it'll be done here! I'm 21 years old and I had acne ever since I reached puberty so it's like since ever! Honestly my acne was never so bad. I had the normal few on my face, but it was when I was in the 8th grade when I had a horrible breakout on my arms, they were tiny pimples and there was at least a couple hundred of them on each arm, they were so small and harmless I thought they'd go
  4. So I only have about 2 or 3 days left on accutane and I'm pretty nervous to go off. I've had persistent chest acne for years so the point where before going on accutane I hadn't gone out in public with a v neck or anything that showed my chest for a solid two years. It's been my biggest insecurity. My chest cleared up instantly on accutane and I can finally not worry about what to wear because I don't have to find something that covers my chest. But as my treatment is coming to an end in noti
  5. The 2 month mark is here! 8 weeks! This is a crucial milestone, people. A crossroad of sorts. This is the time I told myself I'd evaluate my progress and decide if I should continue... Well? What do you guys think? Is it worth sticking it out another month? Another 2 months? Forever?!?
  6. For me, one of the worst parts of suffering from adult acne (moderate and sometimes, pretty darn gnarly) is the anxiety and pain associated with low self-esteem. I NEVER leave the house without makeup, and have a minor panic attack when camping, traveling, or sleep-overs are involved in my plans (how will I wash my face? Will people see me without my makeup? I'll have to get up at 5 am to get ready, just so no one will see my bare skin...). I also model, and you can imagine how hard it is to see
  7. Hello everyone, I've had moderate acne since I was 12/13 (I believe my acne is mostly hormonal and make up related). I'm turning 27 this month, and my struggle has only worsened through adulthood (until recently). I'm sharing my regiment with the world with hope that it will help some of you. (Also note, I just purchased the basic kit through this site, and I will update once used for 30 days). *Failed attempts include: antibiotics, Spirolactone, topical Retinol, ProActive, endless over the co
  8. So where do I start? Hopefully not with the whole puberty talk but just the acne problem that comes with it should do (chuckle). When I was in grade 5 about 11 I got my first zit on my nose. I didn't know until then but that was a pustule where there was a red inflamed look to it. Of course no one in my class was use to it so they called me rudoph the red nose reindeer. Kids can be cruel right? Well needless to say, I just brushed it off until I started middle school in grade 6. That's when my s

    Anti Biotics And Acne

So a little background knowledge on my skin, at the age of 13 I began to get the occasional breakouts here and there. My skin was not terrible and my 2/3 pimples on my forehead were not something which bothered me or even began to strick me as something "different" when I looked in the mirror. As time progressed I can't remember there being a drastic change but my face slowly worsened and that led me to my first facial product which I ever purchased, well my dad. It was a scrub by the brand "sim
  10. Isn't that what we tell all the dermatologists who we see, now? "Sooo, it all started when..." blah blah blah. So my story sounds a lot like what I've already heard so many times on this site. I'm 25, female, and have battled acne on and off since middle school. In high school, proactiv controlled it somewhat so that it was manageable. But my freshman year in college my periods went crazy, I got ovarian cysts, and my skin opened up a can of whop ass on me. Proactiv was no match for th
  11. Everything was good until now-okay well like 4 days ago. I’ve always had oily skin so I got all excited about dry skin and my makeup staying on my face for once. But alas-I prepared. I asked my derm, I researched though so many blogs on here and found your favorite products. I got the biggest tub of aquaphor, a medium sized tube, and two small tubes-because Accutane is the bible ya’ll swear on in acne court. I got a huge tub of ceraVe cream and cetaphil face wash because my derm said they wer
  12. Today was Day 20 on Spiro (75 mg), Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl 4%), and Atralin gel, aka topical retinoid (0.05%)! Overall, things are improving My face is doing so, so much better. The pink mark on my left cheek from that stubborn zit is fading and healing. There's a small pink mark on my right cheek that's fading. And there's a bit of a red mark healing on my lower chin/jaw from a pore that purged an acne seed yesterday. Right now, my complexion looks so much better! It's mor
  13. Hey everyone! So I'm doing pretty good right now (knock on wood. knock on wood. knock on wood). Summary of weeks 1,2, and almost week 3: Week 1 - Drying out. Skin shedding its top layer. Starting to get small bumps/ more zits. Week 2 - INITIAL BREAKOUT. Happened to forehead first, then in different sections of my face. Broke out on forehead, nose, chin, then right cheek, then left cheek, then chin again a bit, then right jawline, now left jawline a bit. Tons of small bumps, more zits, a
  14. I had a small breakout on both my weeks this week but I think it has to do with the fact that I’m during ‘that’ time of the month. There was one huge one on my left cheek to that was so painful and it was blind too which makes it worse! Eyes and lips extremely dry to the point that I have to put in eyedrops a couple times a day to refresh them and I put on caramex at least 20 times a day!!
  15. This has absolutely not been my week. Maybe because they didn't up my dosage and my skin has gotten used to 60mg a day? Idk. My skin is feeling pretty oily again and my lips are a million times worse. They are almost constantly bleeding and burn because they're so dry and I use every thing under the sun to moisturize them and they refuse to heal. Those I can atleast deal with bc I care so much more about my skin than my lips. But my skin has gotten worse this past week. Four new friends popped u
  16. So I’ve struggled with mild acne for 13 years now. I’ve tried everything under the sun. I finally went to see a dermatologist after all these years and the first thing he said to me was “try a low dose of Accutane”. Now trust me, I’ve done my fair share of research about this ‘miracle drug’. I was very apprehensive at first due to all of the side effects, especially the liver damage! However, after much deliberation I’m now on my 12th day of Accutane. The results have been pretty dra
  17. I said that I would post my current skin after showing you how bad my acne was in my last blog post. Anyways here’s my skin on month two! It’s a huge improvement from the pictures I posted the other day❤️ Does anyone know how I can get rid of my acne scars or help them fade while on acutane????
  18. Hi. I basically use this as my diary bc I don't know anyone on accutane right now and I need to get my thoughts out so I don't go crazy. Maybe someone can relate and this could help somebody. I finished round 1 of accutane in 2016, had amazing beautiful skin until 2.5 years later in 2018. I have no idea why, but I do know I was under a lot of stress at that time. I started round 2 January 2019 because of all the stupid ass hoops female patients have to go through. I'm on Day 27. I know the side
  19. Acne is the most common disease of Western civilization, and it has evolved to an epidemic affecting more than 85% of adolescents and 50% of adults. Acne is virtually absent in non-Westernized countries that do not consume cow's milk and dairy products...Imagine that - entire populations that have never experienced acne Acne is now more seriously being regarded as a disease caused by exaggerated production and activity of insulin within the body.
  20. If you haven't heard of of the 'Caveman regimen, you're not stuck in the dark ages. It's yet another half-baked idea at to eliminate acne What they mean by "caveman" is keep your face dirty... don't wash it... don't use chemicals... just let it be. You know what cavemen did before cleansers and before acne Now, I couldn't agree more with this theory. After all cleansers and a most other acne products destroy your skin's microbiome which can make acne worse. Once you mess with you

    Accutane Journey

20 years old, 125 lb, 40mg for the first 2 months - 50mg from 3rd month onwards. So I started Accutane towards the end of May this year. I expected to see results straight away, despite constantly reading blog posts and watching videos that told me otherwise. I was nervous but after a 5 month wait on the NHS I just wanted to start the course. My lips did become chapped and dry after the first week or two so I ordered Aquaphor lip ointment from amazon and slathered it all over my lips. This ma
  22. I’m a bit late updating as not much has really happened. Just over a week ago my doctor upped me to 40mg, he warned me that because I had such a good first month my skin would likely get worse for a while when increasing my dosage. My skin has actually stayed the same, I haven’t had any breakouts, the only think I’ve noticed is that other parts of my body are starting to get really dry now too like my arms and knees. One thing that did surprise me is the price of the Isotretinoin. 20mg onl
  23. To start off, I am going to try and start posting once a month at least, hopefully, more often than that. As for the update on my skin, it hasn't been the best few days. I think that is because I have run out of acidophilus that I pair with spiro, and my skin is not liking that. I forgot to call in the refill before the weekend. As a result of that, I have a few new spots on my cheek that are honestly really bothering me. I can't feel them, but my skin was looking good before this. It might also
  24. Roaccutane journal 10mg /day I am 24, female, and have been struggling with chin/jawline acne. This is a week by week journal of my skin while on 10mg/day roaccutane. I am currently 3 months in and will update as I progress. Week 1 (ending 9/6/18): Slight lip dryness (dry from winter anyway-not sure if this is a side effect) No new breakouts Still lots of existing congestion under skin around chin area (large cystic as well as little bumps) Wee
  25. Hi readers I guess this is my 1 year and 2 months on differin. My situation right now is 70% better. The rest is uncontrol acne that would keep coming. I start to think that this is the most I could get from differin and benzac. I still have pastule, papule and cyst 2 - 3 in each week. Eventhough, I apply benzac all over my face at noght and spot benzac on the cyst itself, it does no effect or little effect to the cyst. My dermatologist recommend me to change to retin-a. Has anyone ever switch
